Bobby Critselous13 Sep 202401:00:03

Bobby runs in Northwest Arkansas, but has never limited himself to just his local community. In fact that is just where everything starts. The authenticity and realness that he expresses to local runners in his area, extends across the country through social media, brand partnerships, and his presence at races. No matter where he is, his mustache cannot be missed. This is a conversation where we explore how bringing this authenticity, makes community worth every second.

Katie Wax-White14 Jun 202400:56:14

In this episode, we welcome Katie Wax-White. Katie is a native of Hampton Roads, VA, but currently resides and runs in Atlanta (ATL). However, the journey to be where she is, running as an adult, was once considered impossible. An injury in her senior year of High School put her on the sidelines, almost permanently, and began a painful journey of just trying to be comfortable. For her, running today means so much more than time, it is a reflection of where she has come from. The joy she brings to the community and running is a reminder of the gratefulness we have in movement.

Check out this episode, hearing Katie’s story and what she is up to now.

The Solo Episode24 May 202400:45:34
Welcome to Run Build Grow hosted by Andrew Ware. Thank you for joining us as we explore the communal spirit of running. I this episode, I interview…myself (and yes it is a bit weird haha). I share a lot about my running journey, and somewhat ramble for a bit. This episode covers a bit of the heart behind why community has been such a pivotal part of my running journey. I explore the unrealistic expectations we often hold ourselves too, and how we can be better about recognizing our place in the whole rather than trying to be who we aren’t. I would love if you would help support me and the podcast. Libby Miller30 Aug 202400:57:39

Libby Miller may be new-ish to the Montgomery Road Runners, and she is already making her presence known. Having been fairly transient in her early adult life, she was familiar with finding run community no matter where she lived. That didn't change when she arrived in the Great DC Metro area. She found herself joining the run club in Montgomery County, Maryland and has enjoyed running, coaching, volunteering, and helping the club be all it can be for all paces.

Check out this conversation as Libby and I explore her journey and what it has meant to be a part of such and awesome club. We also explore her new connection with the Hampton Roads area and how it has made an impact in her local running community.

John Lomogda01 Mar 202400:42:00
As the manager of a local running specialty store in Hampton Roads, John Lomogda brings a very interesting perspective to the nature of running community. In this episode we discuss why these stores are places where people both experienced and inexperienced in the running world come to gather and get the tools for running. From the pair of shoes that make the sport accessible to the more advanced features that give space for people to go deeper, John knows that Running Etc. offers it all. However, it is more than the bottom line for John. He talks about wanting to make sure he is doing right by those who come in, making sure they are set up for success and joy. It is also more than selling for John and his coworkers. Raz Rauf02 Aug 202400:46:47

Raz has been running for many years (back to his youth as a 400m track runner). Recently running has brought him to appreciate the joys of participating in the context of something beyond himself. When he moved to Los Angeles he found himself using running to explore the expansive city. After a while, he found what he loved about certain groups and what drew him to enjoy the groups he attended. This led him to create a group that meets together.

With his experiences of participating and experiencing community, combined with his background as a journalist he sought to tell the stories of running communities far and wide. Through "Running Sucks 101," Raz writes and tells stories.

Candace Broaddus05 Jul 202400:55:56

This episode features Candace Broaddus, a member and coach in the Richmond Running Community.

Candace walks us through her journey of her love for running and how that love, drive, and passion led her to begin to coach in this different way. We explore the Richmond running community and what sets it apart from others. We talk about how she went from participating in a Marathon training program to becoming one of the coaches who helps to support runners.

For the Sportsbackers program, she coaches with, coaching is more than just getting folks through the miles before the starting line. Sportsbackers (organizers and directors of the Richmond Marathon, Half Marathon, 8k) have created a program that draws in hundreds of folks from the Greater Richmond Area. This program not only supports you up to the starting line, but to the finish line as well.

Listen to how Candace has seen her role as coach unfold in this program and why it is amazing to help runners in the lead-up, and all the runners out on the course meet their goals (whatever they might be).

Check out more information on Sportsbackers and all their training programs:
