Inflammation Explained - Are You At Risk?
lundi 10 octobre 2022 • Duration 01:13:10
Inflammation is a term that is thrown around a lot these days, including in our podcast!
In this episode, I want to walk you through what the term inflammation really means, and what it indicates, so that you can be well educated and informed.
Inflammation is a biological response of the immune system that can be triggered by a variety of factors, including pathogens, damaged cells, and toxic compounds. These factors may induce acute and/or chronic inflammatory responses in the pulmonary system, cardiovascular system, digestive system and reproductive system, potentially leading to tissue damage or disease. In the short-term, inflammation is a good thing! It is a necessary system our body employs to kick-start the healing process. However, uncontrolled acute inflammation may become chronic, continuously activating inflammatory pathways and contributing to a variety of chronic inflammatory diseases.
Learn what can cause chronic inflammation, and how you can protect yourself against it as you join us in this week's episode of the Renegade Nutrition podcast!
Achieve Miraculous Success and Crush Any Dietary Protocol - with Health Coach Tammy Rich
lundi 3 octobre 2022 • Duration 56:44
In this episode of the Renegade Nutrition Podcast we are blessed to be joined by Health Coach and RN Tammy Rich.
Tammy found functional medicine after Functional Medicine doctor Julia Buchkina (see our Autoimmune Disease episode with Dr. Buchkina) helped both Tammy's husband and young son heal from challenging health issues, including Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and failure to thrive.
When Tammy's son got sick and was placed in the "failure to thrive" category just before his second birthday, Tammy turned to the GAPS (Gut and Psychology/Physiology Syndrome) Protocol, created by Dr. Natasha Campbell (see our Gut and Psychology Syndrome interview with Dr. Natasha!). What Tammy found was a miraculous, amazing healing journey for her son and her family, as they embarked to save his life.
Today, Tammy is a health coach, working for the same doctor who helped her get her family back - Dr. Buchkina - at Upstream Functional Medicine. Tammy coaches patients at Upstream through everything they need to do in order to achieve success with any dietary protocol. Whether it's cleaning out the pantry, grocery shopping together, cooking meals together, or creating a food matrix - Tammy does it all.
And in this episode, YOU get to learn some of Tammy's top tips and hacks for finding success and enjoying life on any dietary protocol! This episode offers advice on cooking, meal planning, grocery shopping, and dealing with "picky eaters" in the family. The information Tammy provides here offers a huge value to our listeners, and is one you won't want to miss!

Gut and Psychology Syndrome: How the GAPS Protocol Can Save Your Life - with Dr. Natasha Campbell
lundi 19 septembre 2022 • Duration 01:22:26
In this episode of the Renegade Nutrition Podcast, we had the privilege of interviewing the AMAZING Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride, author of Gut and Psychology Syndrome, Gut and Physiology Syndrome, Put Your Heart in Your Mouth, and Vegetarianism Explained.
Dr Natasha graduated with honors as a conventional Medical Doctor in 1984 from Bashkir Medical University in Russia, before moving on to obtain her postgraduate MMedSci Degree in Neurology. But when she became a mother, everything changed. At 3 years old, her son was diagnosed with severe autism.
Dr. Natasha was launched into a steep learning curve, as she researched everything she could to help her son. What she discovered was that a low-carbohydrate diet rooted in her ancestral traditions, the same diet that in fact had saved her life when she was failure to thrive at 18 months old, could - with slight alterations - help her son. Almost immediately, Dr. Natasha noticed significant improvements in her son's behavior and development.
Today, Dr. Natasha's son is a successful, normally functioning adult with no absolutely signs or symptoms of autism.
Dr. Natasha has since become world-renowned as the creator of the GAPS (Gut and Psychology Syndrome) protocol - a life-saving protocol that has helped hundreds of families manage and even reverse symptoms of autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, depression, dyslexia, dyspraxia, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and more. Join us in this episode as we learn all about the GAPS protocol from Dr. Natasha, and how it could save you or your child's health and give you your life back!

*EPISODE FIXED*
It looks like for those first 20 listeners or so who listened to this episode, the video processing failed and the episode was not the correct length (only 44 minutes of our 64 minutes uploaded). This has now been fixed - apologies for the inconvenience!
In this episode, we're bringing sexy back... sexy sulforaphane, that is. Sulforaphane is a health-promoting and health-expanding compound. It can help protect against a number of chronic and inflammatory diseases, as well as neurodegenerative and neurobehavioral diseases, including:
- Cancer
- Cardiovascular disease
- Asthma
- Autoimmune disorders
- Parkinsons
- Alzheimers
- Schizophrenia
- Autism spectrum disorders
And much, much more.
We’ve had a handful of episodes on what not to eat - sugar, processed foods and carbs, seed oils and toxic fats, artificial dyes, gluten.
Now we are beginning our ascent into what TO eat.
One of those essential food groups that is highly underrated but should be a part of everyone's diet is cruciferous vegetables.
I am talking specifically broccoli and broccoli sprouts, but also included in the list of cruciferous vegetables are brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, kohlrabi, bok choi, and radishes, to name a few.
These foods contain the compound sulforaphane, which as you will find out in this episode, is a crucial anti-oxidant boosting molecule that should be a part of your daily diet! Join us in this episode of the Renegade Nutrition podcast to learn how to get sulforaphane into your diet on the daily, as well as the best sources of it and what form and quantity of those sources you should be eating.
