Episode 348: Episode 348: Pearl Jam's "Yield" with Shawn Brown & Kasey Anderson

Episode 348

lundi 2 septembre 2024Duration 01:53:03

We got the band back together! Another Seattle related band episode with repeat revisitors Kasey Anderson and Shawn Brown...this time Pearl Jam's "Yield."

Plenty of other discussion including the 1998-99 Alternative overcorrections, conspiracy theories and JFK, Ticketmaster, the song that should have been a single, "We're all crazy," Hummus, souvenir keys, and more. The intro song is Kasey's "Believers" from his upcoming new album due in October. Spoiler alert: His album is REALLY FREAKING GOOD.

One note: I overlooked that Pearl Jam was nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance for "Do the Evolution" that was won by Page and Plant for "Most High." I didn't see the nomination because that category was discontinued in 2011. Sorry for the oversight.

Episode 338: Call Me Spinster discusses Prince’s “Musicology”

Call Me Spinster returns (you might remember them from our Lauryn Hill episode) and this time we talk about my favorite later career Prince album "Musicology." Did you know this was his 28th album (28th!!!)?  We talk about their great new album "Potholes" as well as discussion about white t-shirts, Mom Rock (or is "Holler Pop"), the Chattanooga music scene, Doris Duke, when Prince goes political/social commentary - it hits, and it's not a Prince album without 2's & U's & eyes for I's.

Episode 247: Foo Fighters Sidecast Part Nine – Sonic Highways

Episode 247

mercredi 6 juillet 2022Duration 01:11:11

Ben and Wayne and repeat revisitor Jeff Frame welcome back another repeat revisitor – Kevin Peters – to continue the Foos sidecast digging into the eighth studio album and "soundtrack" to the HBO series "Sonic Highways."  Plenty of discussion including Kevin's good excuse for being late, C's get degrees, who is going to edit the Wayne & Jeff episode, Grammy snubs, did the Foos utilize their guests appropriately (like Joe Walsh, Zac Brown, Gary Clark Jr and Rick Nielsen), and we mention the phrase yet again....pizza, sex and Foo Fighters, even when it's not so great, it's still good. I think we should make a shirt with that quote.
