Key areas to focus on to break free from survival mode18 Nov 202300:09:17

Working out how to break free from survival mode is a bit like trying to solve a tricky jigsaw puzzle, right? I see it all the time. Mums struggling and feeling overwhelmed by life and motherhood, not sure which direction to turn. Do you relate?

The one BIG thing that I see with mums who are overwhelmed, feel disconnected from themselves, and trying to make a shift in their lives is that they are missing the foundational pillars to make it happen.

This means, that despite your incredible efforts to make changes, the jigsaw isn’t coming together with ease.

In this week's podcast episode, I'm sharing the key foundational areas that I focus on with my 1:1 coaching clients to shift them from surviving to thriving.

Maintaining your connection to self with Jenna Folarin12 Nov 202300:38:22

After a little break, I'm back with season 5 of the Reclaiming MUM podcast.  I've got some incredible guests lined up for this season as well as some solo episodes.

We dive into:

  • How Jenna consciously works on herself so she maintains a deep connection to self outside of motherhood and why that's important
  • How not showing up authentically has impacted certain experiences in her motherhood journey
  • How showing up as her true self has had a positive impact on her motherhood and business journey

Overcoming perfectionism to bring in more joy23 Apr 202300:24:09

Hands up if perfectionism is getting in the way of achieving your ambitions and goals.

I’m talking about letting go of perfection to find more joy in this week's episode.

For me, taking messy and imperfect action is where it’s at.

Taking that first messy step (despite how scary it feels) automatically opens the door to flow, expansion, and joyful growth.

Remember you don’t have to be perfect or have to reach a certain milestone to be worthy or successful.

You have everything inside of you to make it happen.

Getting comfortable with being uncomfortable16 Apr 202300:16:05

I’m exploring the idea of feeling comfortable with getting uncomfortable, which usually comes up at the point of making a big decision, investing in yourself, or when you’re at a bit of a crossroads in your life.

You always have the option to either REPEAT or EVOLVE.

Growth often comes at the point of feeling uncomfortable or when things feel hard.

Honestly, when you work through your limiting thoughts to unlock your full potential, it’s never a feeling of regret, but pure expansiveness.

Positive reflections on parenting teens with Franky Shanahan28 Feb 202400:58:35

In this week's episode, I'm joined by the wonderful Franky Shanahan who I have been following online for years.

Franky is an experienced copywriter and digital content creator who’s spent the last 12 years helping ambitious business owners and solopreneurs communicate with their ideal clients. She lives in Bristol with her husband and their two teenage children.

I wanted to pick Franky's brains about what it's like parenting teenagers because, with a 9-year-old and the preteen years pending, I'm feeling a little daunted by it all.  I loved her positive reflections on parenting teens and that it can be a beautiful and joyous experience despite the usual teen stereotypes that we regularly hear about.

We talk about:

  • Dealing with the emotional and practical changes that come with watching your children transition into the teenage years
  • How to let go and grieve over the fact that your children need you less as they carve out their own lives
  • Parenting teens isn't all about the typical moody stereotypes we're shown in the media. There are lots of positives
  • Tips on how to deal with your children becoming teenagers

Connect with Franky on Instagram and check out her website. She also cohosts Friends With Business Benefits with Charlie Swift.

You can find a beautiful harmony between who you were before you became a mum and your ambitions, and being an awesome parent too.

The power of investing in yourself30 Sep 202100:08:01

Investing in yourself is one of the best investments that you’ll ever make because you’re always guaranteed a return, which can look like many different things, but backing yourself is always a good bet.

Embracing your post-baby body10 Sep 202100:10:28

WARNING! This episode does discuss disordered eating, which I thought I'd mention in case it's triggering.

There are many unfamiliar things that becoming a parent means we have to navigate, one of which is our new bodies because let’s be honest, whatever your shape or size they never return to how they once were after birthing a human.

And, it makes sense that they wouldn’t - they’ve been through one of the biggest miracles in life, growing a human, helping shape the future of this world. How incredible is that, of course, it’s not going to be the same.

I know that this can be such a hard pill to swallow for so many mums and for them to fully accept their new bodies to a tough ask, which is why I wanted to explore this topic with you today on this episode.

What’s the deal with overnight success stories?01 Sep 202100:11:52

It's back! Season 2 of the Reclaiming MUM podcast is here and I can't wait to dive in and share the latest episodes with you after my little summer break.

I think it's time that we started to call this kind of messaging out and celebrate going at your own pace. Happy listening!

Building your emotional resilience13 Jun 202100:16:20

Emotional resilience is an important part of wellbeing in helping us support our emotional health that can be often overlooked. It’s a bit like a suit of armor that allows you to deal with the tough times so that they don't have any long-lasting impact on your mental wellbeing. Like with everything else, it can feel like another thing that we "should" be doing, but I want to highlight why it should be an essential part of your wellbeing toolbox.

A nourishing morning routine with kids31 May 202100:17:26

The mornings as a parent can feel chaotic without throwing in a morning routine, but I'm hearing that so many mums would like to create a little space for themselves in the morning to anchor their day. However, it can feel like an impossible dream when you've got breakfasts and nursery/school runs to get through.

It’s so easy to say, just wake up before the kids. However, if you’re little ones are early risers like mine coupled with various wake-ups during the night you can bet that you’ll find me hiding under the duvet wishing for a few minutes more of sleep.

I’m a big believer in harnessing the power of the start of the day to have a positive impact on the rest of the day and this is still possible with kids, it just looks a little different.

Let me show you how by sharing some practical and realistic ways and mindset reframes that will allow you to create a morning routine that makes you feel good and is on your terms.

How to stop being a people pleaser17 May 202100:11:48

Do you find yourself saying “yes” to every request that comes your way?

It can be so hard to let go of the fear of judgment, fear of letting someone down, and the fear of the consequences if you don't say "yes".  This is classic people-pleasing behaviour, which can often be a detriment to your own physical and mental health. It's a lot, but when you become clear and confident with enforcing your boundaries the rewards are mega.

In this week's episode, I'm sharing some tools and mindset shifts to help you dial down your people-pleasing behaviours so they have less impact on your daily life.
