| Celebrating Imbolc Episode 04-006 | 15 févr. 2025 | 00:08:20 | |
Celebrating Imbolc aka, Candlemas Welcome to “Real Life After 70” This is Real Life After 70 – Episode 04-006 My name is Mike Reynolds. I’m your host for this and each episode. What is Imbolc? Imbolc is a pagan sabbat that is celebrated on February 1st and marks the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. It is a time of renewal and new beginnings, as the earth begins to awaken from its winter slumber and the first signs of spring start to appear. The name Imbolc comes from the Gaelic "oimelc," which means "in the belly," and it is associated with the lactation of ewes. It is also known as Candlemas, as candles are often lit to honor the return of the sun. I’ve created a PDF containing mini biographies of 5 individuals who have accomplished great things while starting late in life. Enjoy these 5 mini biographies including Colonel Sanders Grandma Moses Laura Ingalls Wilder Peter Mark Roget Jack Cover Here’s the link for the PDF – It’s totally FREE! https://reallifeafter70.com/5-mini-biographies Imbolc is a time to honor the goddess Brigid, who is the patroness of poetry, fertility, and healing. Brigid is associated with fire, and many Imbolc rituals involve the lighting of candles or fires to honor her. In addition to honoring the goddess Brigid, Imbolc is also a time to celebrate the returning light and the start of the growing season. It is a time to clean and purify your home, plant the seeds of your goals and intentions for the year, and make a plan for the coming spring. One popular way to celebrate Imbolc sabbat is to create a Brigid's Cross, which is a decorative cross made from rushes or straw. The cross is often hung in the home as a symbol of protection and good fortune. When is Imbolc 2025? February 1, 2025

| Who Are We Becoming – Part 2? | 07 nov. 2024 | 00:07:58 | |
Who Are We Becoming – Part 2? Welcome to “Real Life After 70” This is Real Life After 70 – Episode 04-002 My name is Mike Reynolds. I’m your host for this and each episode. Are you ready to fight for your best self? Today is 2 days post-election where DT won an election based on lies and misinformation. More than 68 million people voted for truth and a new direction forward. This new direction would have paved a path for fair opportunity for all. Instead, about 72 million votes were cast to consolidate power in the hands of a few billionaires and corrupt politicians. Join me in the fight to bring power to the people. Make no mistake, I am angry today. This is the most gentle, inclusive thought I am able to allow at this absolutely disgusting moment in time. But I feel compelled to share because this quote embodies the values that I aspire to remember and represent in the way I live my days, however long that may be: “… I can disagree with a political leader’s actions. I can legislate. I can do civil disobedience if I think what they support is wrong. I can disagree with actions that are not compassionate. But I want to keep my heart open. If I don’t, I am part of the problem, not part of the solution. And that’s just not interesting enough. That’s what the inner work is—to become part of the solution. So going around being angry at everything and everybody is a cheap pie. It really is. You don’t have to act out of anger in order to oppose something. You can act to oppose something because it creates suffering. You can become an instrument of that which relieves suffering, but you don’t have to get angry about it. Social action does not have to be pumped up by righteous indignation or anger. That’s working with the dark forces. That’s working with fear. You can work with love. You can oppose somebody out of love. You can do social action out of love. And that’s the way you win the whole war, not just the battle..." -Ram Dass The focus today is on what we are becoming. We’ve all experienced a lot of things in our lives. All of our choices have brought us to this very point in our lives. Now, the question is, where do we go now. The law of attraction states that what we focus on is what we become. Tune in to this episode to hear some thoughts about becoming the best version of ourselves that we can be at this time. | Having A Sense of Purpose - Real Life After 70 – Episode 02-005 | 30 juin 2024 | 00:05:46
Having A Sense of Purpose! Welcome to “Real Life After 70” This is Real Life After 70 – Episode 02-005 My name is Mike Reynolds. I’m your host for this and each episode. Do we need a Purpose. As we journey through life, the idea of having a purpose becomes increasingly important, especially in our later years. For senior citizens, having a sense of purpose can bring about numerous physical, mental, and emotional benefits that contribute to overall well-being and quality of life. One of the key advantages of having a purpose as we age is improved mental health. Many seniors may face feelings of loneliness, isolation, or a loss of identity after retirement or when their children have grown up and moved out. By engaging in activities or pursuits that give meaning and fulfillment, seniors can combat these negative emotions and maintaincognitive function. Having a purpose also provides seniors with a sense of structure and routine in their daily lives. Whether it's volunteering at a local organization, joining a book club, or pursuing a new hobby, having something to look forward to each day can give individuals a reason to get out of bed in the morning and stay active and engaged. Furthermore, having a purpose has been linked to increased physical health and longevity. Studies have shown that seniors who feel a sense of purpose tend to take better care of themselves, adopting healthier habits such as regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and regular medical check-ups. This, in turn, can lead to a reduced risk of chronic diseases and a higherquality of life in their later years. Another benefit of having a purpose as a senior is the opportunity to connect with others and build a sense of community. Whether through volunteering, participating in group activities, or pursuing shared interests, seniors can form meaningful relationships that provide support, companionship, and a sense of belonging. Having a purpose can also lead to a renewed sense of vitality and passion for life. It's never too late to discover new interests, learn new skills, or pursue unfulfilled dreams. By embracing new challenges and opportunities, seniors can experience a renewed sense of energy and enthusiasm that can greatly enhance their overall well-being. In conclusion, the benefits of having a purpose as we age are manifold. From improved mental health and physical well-being to enhanced social connections and personal fulfillment, having a sense of purpose can greatly enrich the lives of senior citizens. So, whether it's through volunteering, pursuing a lifelong passion, or simply setting new goals, finding purpose in our later years is essential for a happy, healthy, and meaningful life. I would love to hear from you about some of the things you would like to discuss. One of my goals is to take each “ordinary” day and make it EXTRAORDINARY. Living the Dream: Dealing with Stress! Welcome to “Real Life After 70” A podcast related to thriving at any age. This is Real Life After 70 – Episode 20 My name is Mike Reynolds. I’m your host for this and each episode. Living the Dream: Embracing Adventure! While we are traveling, we do face some situations that trigger some stress. Join me as we discuss our journey across the good old USA. We are now in the Tucson, AZ area at Catalina State Park. As we go about our lives, we are facing many challenges. We are challenged to wake up andinteract with others. It is up to us to create the life that works for us. As I write this, it is mid-December. I personally do not enjoy this “Christmas” season. The commercialism drives me crazy (so to speak). I do, however, appreciate this time of year and celebrate the solstice. This represents new beginnings and new growth. My goal in this new cycle is to become more consistent with my podcasting as we go forward. This is a continual battle for me. I willnot give up Living in our 70’s and beyond should be a celebration, but naturally, it comes with mixed feelings about getting older. Aging does come with difficulties, but it presents opportunities to grow, reflect, and seek fulfillment. Today I share with you some of my experience with living a somewhat nomadic life. It’s mostlyfun and rewarding, but sometimes it can be challenging. It has now been over 3 months since we left Maine. We are currently at Catalina State Park in Cottonwood, AZ. This is a beautiful desert environment in Tucson, AZ. This is a 1 week stay. Then, a new adventure. We will inevitably face some challenges along this journey of self-fulfilment. Today we’ll discuss some of those challenges and how to surmount such obstacles. We’re starting a short series focusing on the opportunities available to you as you enter your 70’s. The first one is to Embrace Adventure. Just because we're in our 70’s doesn't mean it's time to give up. If anything, we have the time and resources to embrace adventure! Whether it's a road trip across the country, flying to our dream destination, or just buying season tickets for our favorite team – This last quarter of our lives is the time to embrace adventure in a way we were never able to before. So, don't resist the fun, give in! Quote of the Day: “Age is just a number. Life and aging are the greatest gifts that we could possibly ever have.” – Cicely Tyson Please share your thoughts on thriving while aging in the comments below or you may email meat: michael@reallifeafter70.com Now join me for the next few minutes as we explore what “Real Life After 70” is really allabout. Please remember this advice: Keep pursuing your dreams and learn something new each day. Also, make sure to reward yourself as you accomplish each step along the way. I hope you enjoy this episode. There were millions for as far as I could see. The vastness of the Grand Canyon itself is beyond description, making this a memorable experience. On the sad side, we did see 3 dead cattlebeside the road.
