Celebrating Imbolc aka, Candlemas
Welcome to “Real Life After 70”
This is Real Life After 70 – Episode 04-006
My name is Mike Reynolds. I’m your host for this and each episode.
What is Imbolc?
Imbolc is a pagan sabbat that is celebrated on February 1st and marks the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. It is a time of renewal and new beginnings, as the earth begins to awaken from its winter slumber and the first signs of spring start to appear.
The name Imbolc comes from the Gaelic "oimelc," which means "in the belly," and it is associated with the lactation of ewes. It is also known as Candlemas, as candles are often lit to honor the return of the sun.

Imbolc is a time to honor the goddess Brigid, who is the patroness of poetry, fertility, and healing. Brigid is associated with fire, and many Imbolc rituals involve the lighting of candles or fires to honor her.
In addition to honoring the goddess Brigid, Imbolc is also a time to celebrate the returning light and the start of the growing season. It is a time to clean and purify your home, plant the seeds of your goals and intentions for the year, and make a plan for the coming spring.
One popular way to celebrate Imbolc sabbat is to create a Brigid's Cross, which is a decorative cross made from rushes or straw. The cross is often hung in the home as a symbol of protection and good fortune.

Who Are We Becoming – Part 2?
Welcome to “Real Life After 70”
This is Real Life After 70 – Episode 04-002
My name is Mike Reynolds. I’m your host for this and each episode.
Are you ready to fight for your best self?
Today is 2 days post-election where DT won an election based on lies and misinformation. More than 68 million people voted for truth and a new direction forward. This new direction would have paved a path for fair opportunity for all. Instead, about 72 million votes were cast to consolidate power in the hands of a few billionaires and corrupt politicians.
Join me in the fight to bring power to the people.
Make no mistake, I am angry today. This is the most gentle, inclusive thought I am able to allow at this absolutely disgusting moment in time.
But I feel compelled to share because this quote embodies the values that I aspire to remember and represent in the way I live my days, however long that may be:
“… I can disagree with a political leader’s actions. I can legislate. I can do civil disobedience if I think what they support is wrong. I can disagree with actions that are not compassionate. But I want to keep my heart open. If I don’t, I am part of the problem, not part of the solution. And that’s just not interesting enough. That’s what the inner work is—to become part of the solution.
So going around being angry at everything and everybody is a cheap pie. It really is. You don’t have to act out of anger in order to oppose something. You can act to oppose something because it creates suffering. You can become an instrument of that which relieves suffering, but you don’t have to get angry about it.
Social action does not have to be pumped up by righteous indignation or anger. That’s working with the dark forces. That’s working with fear. You can work with love. You can oppose somebody out of love. You can do social action out of love. And that’s the way you win the whole war, not just the battle..."

Who Do You Wish To Become?
It has been a while since my last episode. I apologize for my absence. Sometimes it can be difficult to maintain focus. Once we lose our focus it can be difficult to overcome inertia.
We’ve all experienced a lot of things in our lives. All of our choices have brought us to this very point in our lives. Now, the question is, where do we go now.
The law of attraction states that what we focus on is what we become.

Having A Sense of Purpose!
Welcome to “Real Life After 70”
This is Real Life After 70 – Episode 02-005
My name is Mike Reynolds. I’m your host for this and each episode.
Do we need a Purpose.
As we journey through life, the idea of having a purpose becomes increasingly important, especially in our later years. For senior citizens, having a sense of purpose can bring about numerous physical, mental, and emotional benefits that contribute to overall well-being and quality of life.
One of the key advantages of having a purpose as we age is improved mental health. Many seniors may face feelings of loneliness, isolation, or a loss of identity after retirement or when their children have grown up and moved out. By engaging in activities or pursuits that give meaning and fulfillment, seniors can combat these negative emotions and maintaincognitive function.
Having a purpose also provides seniors with a sense of structure and routine in their daily lives. Whether it's volunteering at a local organization, joining a book club, or pursuing a new hobby, having something to look forward to each day can give individuals a reason to get out of bed in the morning and stay active and engaged.
Furthermore, having a purpose has been linked to increased physical health and longevity. Studies have shown that seniors who feel a sense of purpose tend to take better care of themselves, adopting healthier habits such as regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and regular medical check-ups. This, in turn, can lead to a reduced risk of chronic diseases and a higherquality of life in their later years.
Another benefit of having a purpose as a senior is the opportunity to connect with others and build a sense of community. Whether through volunteering, participating in group activities, or pursuing shared interests, seniors can form meaningful relationships that provide support, companionship, and a sense of belonging.
Having a purpose can also lead to a renewed sense of vitality and passion for life. It's never too late to discover new interests, learn new skills, or pursue unfulfilled dreams. By embracing new challenges and opportunities, seniors can experience a renewed sense of energy and enthusiasm that can greatly enhance their overall well-being.

Five years ago, I began my recovery from quadruple heart bypass surgery necessitated by a heart attack. The surgery was a success, and I am still here and feeling pretty good. I dohave a physical scheduled in a couple of weeks. We’ll see what the test scores indicate.
So, here is a reminder to be grateful for each moment that we have. As a prophet I once saw on 42nd Street said: “The End Is Near”
Real Life After 70 now has a revised mission to really encourage us to take action to make our dreams a reality regardless of our age. We have the resources to achieve our goals.
