Guide, Owner, & Founder of Redline Guiding: Mike Cherim01 Apr 202501:50:29

Send us some fan mail here!

Paul and Nick get the opportunity to sit down with Mike Cherim, a modern-day "Renaissance man" who has been hiking and climbing since tackling the "Rock Pile" at the young age of four! Mike is the owner and founder of Redline Guiding up in Intervale, New Hampshire, as well as an instructor, guide, and even a Justice of the Peace!

Paul tackles Adams and Madison and tries not to get blown away on a Spring-like day in the Northern Presidentials, Nick tackles repeat agents on the mighty 450' Diamond Hill in Cumberland while everyone is getting up North, stays local hiking with the family, and attempts a picnic in Newport despite the chilly temps, and the boys have a great chat with Mike Cherim of Redline Guiding! They discuss Mike's past endeavors; including hiking Mount Washington as a young boy, climbing Mount Fuji in Japan, Mount Rainier out West, everything he's done at "home" in the Whites and in the Northeast, how and why he started the awesome Redline Guiding guide company in the Whites, and how Redline Guiding can help you hike your lists, learn how to climb, and even get you married in mountainous location on this don't-forget-to-get-your-marriage-license-for-your-wedding-day-or-it-might-be-awkward-episode of the PUDs Podcast!

The Lincoln 100, Chris Roma, & Mission Clean Water with Nick Higgins & James Leitner13 Jan 202501:31:30

Send us some fan mail here!

Bundle up and get ready to move as the boys are joined by Nick Higgins and James Leitner! The pair are preparing to attempt 100 miles on a ~3.2 mile loop in 24 hours, starting on January 16th, 2025 in the heart of the Whites; Lincoln, New Hampshire, in honor of the late Christoper Roma and to raise money for the non-profit Mission Clean Water!

His passion for hiking, the outdoors, and using it to raise funds to provide clean water to people across the globe continues to reverberate and influence others in the Whites, and Nick Higgins and James Leitner are picking up where he left off! Send us some fan mail here!

On this week's episode the boys sit down and chat with Britt Wassick, Co-chair of Taylor James Steeves Foundation!

The Taylor James Steeves Foundation (TJSF) was founded in 2018 after the loss of Taylor Steeves. Taylor was diagnosed with a genetic form of lung cancer just days before his 30th birthday and fought the disease for 1 year before losing his battle.

Through fundraising events, like the annual Tay’s Summit Hiking Challenge, they work to provide financial to people and families going through a genetic lung cancer diagnosis. The Tay's Summit Hiking Challenge kicks off September 13th and runs through October 13th, the best time of year for hiking!

Nick wraps up his Summer Four-Thousand Footers with hikes of The Twins and Waumbek and gets ready to head to the Adirondacks, Josh has been busy coaching soccer, and we learn about the touching story of Taylor Steeves, his battle with genetic lung cancer, and how he inspired his friends and family to setup the TJSF to give aid to those fighting genetic forms of lung cancer!

Assisting Search and Rescue on Katahdin & Baxter State Park with Best Friends Mike & Lorrie13 Aug 202401:51:46

Send us some fan mail here!

The boys and Ash (finally!) sit down with best-friends-of-the-podcast and fellow "Hiking Peeps" Mike and Lorrie to recall that time that they all stayed in Baxter State Park back in summer of 2021, and how they found themselves assisting BSP Search and Rescue with an injured hiker down Maine's infamous mountain; Katahdin!

The gang recalls their journey to the far northern reaches of New England; the beautiful, wild, and remote, Baxter State Park where three of the Maine (and New England) Four-Thousand-Footers reside. Bagging Baxter, Hamlin, and North Brother, enjoying the serenity of Maine's biggest wilderness area, helping a concussed hiker down a trail with BSP SAR, Mike and the moth, Nick takes a swan dive, Lorrie takes a nap, Ash is over trail-mix, Josh has a lot of moisture, Charles and Shaq are in your bathroom, and the pod has a new and "adventuristiq" sponsor on this I-can't-believe-it's-taken-us-this-long-to-talk-about-this-on-the-pod episode of the PUDs Podcast!

It's the final installment of the "Nick Goes West" series and Nick "chases that high" out West to a new literal "high";  the 10,834' peak of Mount San Jacinto, the 2nd highest peak in Southern California!

Josh loves TMNT, is disappointed by a new local restaurant,  has some deer in the backyard,  and Nick runs through everything you need to know to hike the 6th most prominent peak in the lower 48! Mountain lions are a thing in Mount San Jacinto State Park,  Apache rituals, challenging conditions, getting blasted with sand from wind turbines, "really big" trees, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, views 8000' above the valleys, a brand new hyperthetical, Nick is getting ready to head to Maine for the Alzheimer's Association's Longest Day 48 Peaks Event, and miles-high-more on this desert-to-snow-y episode of the PUDs Podcast and conclusion of the "Nick Goes West" series!!!

Nick Goes West Part 2: Joshua Tree National Park14 May 202402:03:26

Send us some fan mail here!

In this second installment of the "Nick Goes West" trilogy (because after all isn't everything a trilogy these days?) Nick takes you through everything Joshua Tree National Park! Grab some SPF 70,  sunglasses, and make sure you pack a few extra liters of water for this one!

As Josh is eager to find out where he came from, Nick is excited to share some news about  fundraising and hiking for the Alzheimer's Association's  The Longest Day - 48 Peaks event! Next, Nick continues sharing his recent trip to Southern California, and runs down where to stay, where to eat, where to shop, what to do, and most importantly, where to hike, in Joshua Tree National Park!

Driving from San Diego like the "Californians", roadrunners are really quick,  a day hike to Eureka Peak, unfortunate encounters of the prickly kind, all the rocks, Joshua trees are like snowflakes, a sunset hike to Ryan Mountain, so many stars, and more content than acres in Rhode Island, on this dusty, hot, sweaty, and downright-amazed episode of the PUDs Podcast!
