The music had similar melodies and harmonies to The Beatles and other British Invasion bands and it appealed to teens and people in their early 20's. "Power Pop" was a decade-long musical movement that kids embraced from different bands that briefly had the public eye on them. As the 60's progressed, other English bands took up the gauntlet of American blues music and played it louder and with a harder edge. The numbers were extended to showcase the techniques of guitarists like Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Paul Kossoff, Paul Kossoff, Kim Simmonds, Jeff Beck and Alvin Lee. | Episode 44. Eccentrics | 10 Apr 2021 | 01:08:42
The 1960's was a creative time and artists were encouraged to expand their art beyond the dictate of a two minute song and get into more expansive instrumentation and thoughtful lyrics. Many took up the challenge and came up with great results. Some, however, were under more pressure to come up with new music that was supposed to be artistic and also commercial. The pressure became too much for some and hard drugs started to enter their lives and altered their music as well as their personalities and lives. Some artists weren't able to cope with the stress of their profession along with the emotional vulnerability that undermined their talent, and they simply broke. Some thrived at being "Out There" musically like Frank Zappa, while others displayed their vulnerabilities in their music like Syd Barrett. These are Rock's true Eccentrics, both musically and in some cases, emotionally. These are samples of these misunderstood "Geniuses" with a brief synopsis on each one. | Episode 43. Garage Rock | 04 Apr 2021 | 01:00:26
"Garage Rock" is a term that was first used in the Sixties to describe a raw rock sound along with an attitude of anger or disdain towards an antagonist in a song. The production value was very minimal and the results were an exciting and powerful sound. The term was later referenced as 'Punk Rock" or identified as "Nuggets", a term associated with the original Elektra Records compilation of 1960's underground and psychedelic rock. Garage Rock is still with us today despite some people playing music on a laptop on stage. People still want to hear the raw power of a band playing live and the excitement that comes from pure rock 'n roll. Please feel free to donate or Tip Jar the show at my Venmo account

The music was extended in length in some cases and the overall effect of this new music was breathtaking and inspiring. Please feel free to donate or Tip Jar the show at my Venmo account

| Episode 25. Songs For Children | 08 Jan 2021 | 00:55:23 | |
During the Psychedelic era, bands would tend to write songs that would be abit more whimsical and engaging with lyrics that had mystic imagery and light-hearted themes. The music was uncomplicated and very melodic and stirring with it's simplicity. The songs could be described as "Childlike" as they tended to have an immediate appeal to both children and adults. This show has collected songs for the enjoyment of all ages and I'm also doing a reading from select passages from the chapter "Piper at the Gates Of Dawn" from the Kenneth Graeme book "The Wind in The Willows".
