Creedence Clearwater Revival were the number one American band in a short span of years (1968 to 1971). They had 14 singles that went gold and platinum, and they were hailed by the hippie underground press, while gaining mainstream success. Pete Best will always be known as the man who was ejected by The Beatles right as they were about to be become globally famous. He has become the analogy for rejection and missed opportunities. However, Pete did create his own music and his recent group, The Pete Best band released some very good music. These are some select tracks from a man that musically has redeemed himself.

In the 1970's a new genre of music was being celebrated by teenagers of that era. They were born too late to enjoy the height of Beatlemania and many of the other 60's pop groups. So by the 70's a new form of teenage music was triggered by the band The Raspberries. The music had similar melodies and harmonies to The Beatles and other British Invasion bands and it appealed to teens and people in their early 20's. "Power Pop" was a decade-long musical movement that kids embraced from different bands that briefly had the public eye on them. These are some of the highlights musically of this genre that were very reminiscent of the 60's sound.

AM Radio was a crucial media outlet for Artists to gain exposure and commercial success. 45 rpm. singles were very important to attract attention to an Artist's album or film. Then in the late 60's FM radio was coming to prominence and albums were becoming more important to listeners. AM radio remained important but after The Beatles success American bands stepped up their game and started to release more interesting sounding singles. This was a transitional period in music were Pop would became Rock and the mid to late sixties became a Golden period for Pop music.
