September Release Round-Up: 'The Woman King,' 'Don't Worry Darling,' and More!

Season 3 · Episode 24

vendredi 30 septembre 2022Duration 01:03:10

Some of the big fall festival premieres look to dazzle audiences as they hit a wide release this month. Reactions on the first movie that Nick and Sophia discuss, ‘The Woman King,’ are overwhelmingly positive and consistent with its A+ CinemaScore. Gina Prince-Bythewood delivers an epic warrior drama with Viola Davis at the helm and one that has already garnered great awards potential (3:37).

Next is a movie that, due to a magnetic press release, needs no introduction: ‘Don’t Worry Darling.’ After sharing their general reactions to the film (24:34), they dive into spoilers and try to make sense of that third act surprise (29:42).

Stay tuned for reactions to other fun releases, from Netflix’s 80’s high school dramedy with a Gen Z twist, ‘Do Revenge,’ to others that are gearing up for quite a spooky October: ‘Barbarian,’ ‘Pearl,’ ‘Resurrection,’ and ‘Speak No Evil’ (52:26).

After discussing the history behind production, what makes the movie special to them, and some favorite scenes and performances, they debate if its performance at The Oscars should have gone differently, including any snubs they think it should have received (29:29).

Before discussing his two Oscar wins, they talk about his style, thirteen other nominations, and notable works they think he should’ve been up for. Then, they wonder why it took him so long to grab that Oscar gold for ‘Blade Runner 2049’ and ‘1917’ (12:12). Lastly, would they swap either of these wins out or give him other deserved accolades? Nicole would surely agree that these other picks truly are dazzling images on a huge silver screen (28:59).
