On The Runs 122 - Jenene Vernon - NH 10 Miler27 Aug 202402:13:19

We open episode 122 LIVE from the NH 10 Miler but quickly get to our guest segment with Jenene Vernon early on the Pod (03:45).
We talk all about the NH 10 miler with some of our PodFam favorites at (01:42:15)

Jenene Vernon shares her journey from hating running to becoming a passionate runner. She grew up dancing and had a strong aversion to running, even withdrawing from a college class that required running a mile. However, after her mother was diagnosed with lung cancer, she decided to participate in a 5K race for a cause and found herself enjoying the experience. The second 5K race solidified her love for running as she saw improvement in her performance. Jenene emphasizes the accessibility of running and the importance of not comparing oneself to others. She also talk about their experiences with injuries, particularly her ACL injury and his road to recovery. They highlight the importance of mental strength and the support they received from the Peloton community. Eric also suggest the idea of a Peloton PT series to provide specialized exercises and stretches for different injuries (Peloton?). Everyone shares their experiences at the Peloton studio and their first Peloton classes thanks to the amazing community that Jenene and her husband Josh built with team Wicked Smart Zone. They talk about the welcoming and supportive community at Peloton and the excitement and nerves they felt during their first visit. They also share some funny and memorable moments, including near Code Brown incidents. Jenene reveals her upcoming challenge of running the Chicago Marathon and fundraising for the Lung Cancer Foundation.

In the outro, Eric and Erika record from the church parking lot at the NH 10 Miler with Rachel, Sam, Jenn and Rachel. Everyone talks about their race with stories from a pre-race porta potty code brown to a photo finish. We also get to hear about Rachel's Tokyo Marathon experience when she got her 6th Star!

OTR Classic - Boston 202218 Apr 202300:47:59

Introducing "OTR Classic's"
During occasional off weeks we'll replay a classic from our early days of the Pod. Due to illness (Eric lost his voice) there will be no new episode this week. So we figured it would be a great time to drop our first OTR Classic!

On this classic, we take it back 1 year ago after the 2022 Boston Marathon when some of our OG's Denise and Sarah joined us to share their experience running in the 2022 Boston Marathon.

We'll be back next week with out thoughts on spectating the Boston Marathon and soon we'll have multiple runners from the Marathon on the Pod to share their experience just like Denise and Sarah did last year.

On The Runs 47 - Ron Kuszmar - Don't tell my coach07 Mar 202301:09:41

Episode 47 of the On The Runs Podcast Erika is across the globe after she just ran in the Tokyo Marathon. So we called in a backup for her and brought on one of our favorites Nicole Bryant to co-host the show with Eric.

Nicole and Eric interviewed one of Nicole's Athletes, Ron Kuszmar (16:00) who recently has been entertaining us with his daily marathon training Tiktok videos. We get an inside look of what it's like having Nicole as a coach and a little in-depth of Ron's life including his weight loss journey and having one really cool job.

Eric and Nicole open up the show catching up and get a unexpected call in from Tokyo, and they finish the episode with a little stomach bug story that made one of their week very miserable.

We open the pod talking about Erika's travel plans for Tokyo this week before Eric get's distracted when the Boston Bruins goalie scores a goal! Then we close the pod talking about the a Beer Mile, Megan and Harry, wedding songs before we wish Erika well as she's packing her bags for the Tokyo Marathon to get her 6th and final World Major Marathon Medal!

Nicky continued her running journey while helping raise money and awareness for non-profit organizations like the "Healing Meals Project" Nicky is our first of a few great guest we'll have. Join us for the entire month of October as we talk to some amazing women who share with us their stories and help raise awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

On The Runs 21 - Mike Beeman Part 1 - 45 Boston Marathons and Counting25 Jul 202201:30:01

Sometimes you just happen to get lucky and are standing on the starting line to a local fun race and just happen to be standing next to a local running legend. That is what happened to us a few weeks ago when we met our next guest Mike Beeman.
Mike has currently run 45 straight Boston Marathons and yes that's very impressive, but there is so much more to Mike's story. From walking off  the football team, not telling his basketball coach that he planned to run a marathon in the middle of the season, to tearing both his quadricep tendons at the same time and being told he'll never run again.
Part 1 is here and its filled with Boston Stories, next week Part 2 will have some of Mike's most proudest moments as he shares how he was able to use running to help others.

Plus Eric's little girl Adaline makes a quick podcast appearance, Erika wishes Eric happy birthday and Eric starts to build a plan to his next few triathlons.
