Healing Through Kink with Sex Therapist, Katherine Friedman13 Oct 202201:34:02

Today's topic is one that a lot of people find intimidating, yet so many are curious about. We're talking all things KINK and I can't wait to share this expansive conversation with all of you.

Here's a bit about my guest:

Katherine Friedman (she/her) is a psychotherapist and intimacy consultant living and working in New York City and the Hudson Valley.  She is a New York Licensed Mental Health Counselor, an Oregon Licensed Professional Counselor, and an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist.  She uses her mindful, embodied approach to assist people in all areas of sex therapy and exploration, with a particular enthusiasm for working with people from marginalized communities and those pursuing alternative sexualities and relationship styles to meet their unique desires.  As a teacher, Katherine provides classes on mindfulness, embodiment, kink, empowerment, and trauma in an array of venues. As a provider, she provides both long-term therapy and short-term consulting based on the needs and locations of clients.

Katherine also happens to be OG Nothing Confidential Alum! And I am SO EXCITED to welcome her back on the show! You can listen to our first conversation here:

Bad Boy with a Heart of Gold? With Sex Party Host, Dustin Rybka (Part-2)29 Sep 202201:23:12

**PART 2**

Former party boy turned podcast host, Dustin Rybka hosts Sex Party, a show where he talks about all things sex and relationships with a different guest each and every Wednesday. As with any good party though, sometimes things get messy...

Like this 2-part conversation you're about to hear!

In today's episode(s), my pal Dustin and I will be taking you on a journey through the many twists and turns of his reluctant quest for self-betterment.

I went in with some expectations (which almost got me in trouble)... But when I dropped those (20-30 minutes in), what got to happen instead was an incredibly layered, multi-dimensional, textured conversation that wreaks with humanity, honesty, and innate goodness.

A few things we're excavating are:

  • Exploring the pain threshold: Self-punishing or healing?

  • How terrifying vulnerability can be+Vulnerability with boundaries.

  • Trusting the consistency/predictability of painful experiences over the vulnerability of hopefulness...

  • What happens when we believe that our pain and struggle are the most interesting things about us...

  • How scary/painful that moment before choosing healing/transformation can be.

  • AND ALL KINDS OF THINGS YOU NEVER SAW COMING!

This is one of those conversations that will leave you with more questions than answers and I LOVE THAT. It takes courage to examine the parts of you that are incongruent. It takes courage to be in messy process. It takes courage to keep asking the hard questions of ourselves and those around us in order to gain clarity about where we're going and who we ultimately want to be.

We hope this conversation gives you permission to be messy. Be curious. Be human.

XO,

Christin & Dustin

Heating Up a Relationship that's "Wintering"+The Glamorization of Toxic Love09 Sep 202101:08:24

This conversation (and others like it) are the reason we do what we do. It's juicy, and twisty, and we cover a lot of unexpected territories.

What we're sharing this week:

  • How we consciously build fires on the "hearth" of our relationships when they're in their "winter" season.
  • The cultural glamorization of toxic "love", and how it has impacted our connection with romantic partners (past and present).
  • The sneaky ways our trauma adaptations show up in partnership.
  • Creating space for Eroticism in long-term partnerships.
  • Whatever else popped into our brains.

If this conversation gifts you an "ah-ha!", we would LOVE to hear about it. Shoot us a DM on Instagram or leave a comment/review on the podcast. We crave dialogue with our people (YOU!).

Christin & Jo

What We Want in a #momsquad+Being "Monogamish" with Dame Co-Founder & CEO, Alex Fine27 Aug 202101:00:04

YA'LL. IT'S OUR 50TH EPISODE, BABEEEEE!

And today's guest is truly ICONIC...

As CEO of Dame Products, Alexandra Fine translates the nuances of our sexualities into human-friendly toys for sex. A lifelong student of sexual health, Fine earned her Masters in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in sex therapy from Columbia University. Realizing that her skills would be best put to use making concrete improvements to people’s lives, Fine began developing her own vibrators at home and asking friends to give her their feedback. She was gaining startup experience with an organic shampoo company and decided the time was right to put her passions and her business acumen to use in the world of sex toys. Over the past six years, Alexandra has led Dame’s team to sell over 150K products in retailers all over the world. Perhaps more importantly, she’s translated her role as CEO into one of a dedicated activist for women’s health, gender equity, and prioritizing pleasure, leading efforts to uncover sexism in the industry at every turn.

We talked to Alex for 2 hours straight - it was one of those conversations that just flowed and dipped and flipped with ease. We talk about her personal experience as a human who identifies as a Non-binary woman, motherhood, running a multi-million dollar sex toy empire, relationship fluidity, what we're all looking for in our dream #momsquad, and so much more. We split this convo up into 2 parts for easier digestion. Be sure you listen to both and don't miss our podcast post-mortem at the end of part 2.

Today we're taking a deep dive into the rich and powerful topic of astrology. We're getting our charts read LIVE and learning how understanding the stars can shape our path, purpose, and relationships.

Our guest of honor, Hannah Siddiqui, is a 22-year-old writer, educator, and spiritual coach from the sunny San Francisco Bay Area. Her purpose in life is to help people uncover their own spiritual power through utilizing the tools of manifestation, positive affirmations, and astrology. On her social media platforms she coins affirmations, horoscopes, and "real life" talks daily, inspiring thousands of people to turn inwards and begin to recognize their own power. As one fan notes, Hannah has cultivated a "welcoming and inclusive community," and has "helped people everywhere find their voice and confidence within themselves." Her career began at the tender age of 16 with the founding of The Road to Hannah, a lifestyle blog that quickly gained traction due to her "punk rock nature" and "no-filter attitude". After participating in national ad campaigns, collaborating with some of the world's most notable brands, and even giving a TEDx talk in 2017, she began to set her sights on photography (which she retired from in 2020) and has worked alongside the likes of Adidas, Facebook, Toyota, and more. As of 2019 she is also a certified meditation and breathwork instructor and teaches both online and in-person at Anchor Meditation in San Francisco, California. Hannah is also a recent graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, having studied Sociology and English Literature (Go Bears).

Sexuality as a Facet of Wholeness with Natasha Rankin15 Sep 202201:38:22

AAAAAANNNDDDDD I've got something BRAND NEW for you! Again!

For the first time EVER, I'm sharing a client tell-all. In this episode, my former client, Natasha, gives you an intimate behind-the-scenes on the 6-month somatic sex coaching we did together.

This conversation is filled with juicy tidbits of wisdom, reflection, and heart-opening honesty.

But first, here's a bit more about this phenomenal Woman:

Natasha Rankin is a Business Mentor & Wealth Expander for spiritual women. She’s a wife, mama, yogi, and real estate investor. Natasha is the creator of The Sensitive Business Academy which helps coaches and healers package their magic into a signature group program and turn it into a 6-figure revenue stream. In all of her offerings, Natasha combines intuitive marketing & sales strategy with deep mindset and healing work to create the greatest transformation for her clients.

Post our time together in a private coaching container, Natasha has also become a friend and beautiful presence in my life. I am so grateful for her willingness to demystify the process of healing (and stepping into) Her relationship to authentic sexual expression.

Here's what we're unpacking:

  • The belief that Sexual brokenness was “fixed”; That She was fundamentally broken and “not a sexual person”.

  • How our work together was the “deepest edge” she had ever lived into on her personal growth journey.

  • The key differences between her experience of traditional therapy and the somatic work that we did together.

  • The state of disconnect between knowing in the head and feeling in the body.

  • SAFETY. The vital, non-negotiable role of safety in healing the tenderest parts of ourselves.

  • Tash’s journey from turtleneck lady to cleavage Queen!

  • The inner conflict of being turned off by objectification and a deep need to be seen and desired.

  • Sexuality as a facet of wholeness and wellness.

  • What changed when she started having and enjoying more sex.

    AND. SO. MUCH. MORE.

I truly loved this conversation. My desire is that it support and nourish you on your own quest for deeper healing, alignment, and authentic expression.

XO,

Christin

How NOT to Outgrow Your Partner02 Sep 202000:56:15

A big topic of conversation that is circulating through my community right now is around personal evolution and it impacts on a couple.

"What if my partner no longer wants to be with me now that I've changed?"

"What if my partner doesn't understand the journey I'm on?"

"What if I outgrow my partner?"

These are valid questions and very real concerns. I also happen to be intimately acquainted with them so I decided to bring MY husband, Mr. Mike Henke, back on the show to share our personal (and messy!) experience with this.

We talk about:

  • my initial journey into self-actualization and the world of entrepreneurship
  • the friction this cause in our relationship
  • how I evolved my communication to more effectively get Mike on board with where I was going
  • things we did/do well in this area
  • things we do not-so-well
  • Mike's personal journey to catch up with me!
  • And obviously a lot more ;-)
She Works Hard for the Money19 Aug 202000:46:45

This week’s episode is another gut-spilling, vulnerability-hangover-inducing solo convo!

That’s right, it’s just me, myself, and I on the mic diving off the deep-end into the topic of MONEY. No, it’s not sex. Yes, it’s all related.

I’m opening up about:

•Growing up poor and how that has impacted my relationship to, and beliefs around money

•The intimate take-aways from my participation in The Thriving Experience

•The unconscious ways I’ve been blocking abundance

•What a day of THRIVING looks like for me

•Plus a bunch of other uncomfortably honest shit!

Healing the Sacred MASCULINE with Ron Cecil12 Aug 202001:05:15

*Part 2

Where are my conscious men at?! This episode is for YOU.

When I first started this podcast, I was surprised by how quickly I began receiving messages from men...

Men who were partnered with women on a journey of self-discovery, sexual healing, and feminine wholeness (aka: re-establishing their connection to self and divine feminine energy). These guys wanted to know what they could do to support their girlfriends, wives, and daughters; They wanted to know where and IF they belonged in this exciting new space of deep feminine power. Some of these men were overwhelmed and scared. Others were excited and hopeful. All were wondering, "What about me? How do I relate? How do I support? How do I hold space? How do I do my part?"

I've waited a long time for the right person to have this conversation with. My heart is warmed by the goodness of these curious men and I am excited and honored to share today's guest with you.

MEET RON!

Together with his wife, Morgan Day Cecil, Ron authored the Romance and Adventure Sutras, a 12 week deep dive into the soul work that leads to transcendent love and erotic power for couples in sacred relationship,

A transformational coach in the field of Masculine Wholeness and using the Hero’s Journey as a universal map, Ron has helped men keep the primary promise that all nearly all people have a broken- loving themselves enough to pursue health in all its forms: physical, emotional, and spiritual and thus change the course of life for themselves, their families, and communities.

Ron has been chased by a rhinoceros and charged by an elephant in Africa. He ripped his first wheelie on a motorcycle when he was about 7 years old. Ron has degrees in New Testament Literature and Psychology. He’s a lover of great literature (he once spent a year reading only Pulitzers) and the works Richard Rohr, Joseph Campbell, and countless other spiritual and thought leaders.

The best sound in the world to him is that of his family snoring softly in their big tent when camping.

Love, Sex, and Magic with Tantric Shaman, Maisha Aza29 Jul 202001:20:29

This conversation was one for the books! Shaman Maisha shares stories from her sexual liberation that set her on the spiritual path of Tantra and Shamanism. She explains how tantra and shamanism integrate, touches on how we can each use our erotic energy for healing, and addresses the importance of representation in spiritual, energetic work that originated from Black and brown communities and their rich traditions and practices.

Maisha is warm, funny, compassionate, and just has something about her...

I hope you get as much out of this conversation as I did.

Writing Sex with Award-Winning Novelist, Brooke Adams Law01 Sep 202201:17:04

I'm back from Hiatus and feeling GIDDY to reconnect with YOU, my amazing listeners, and bring you FRESH conversations that ooze beauty, humor, and VITALITY.

In my rambling 20-minute intro, I'm updating you on where I've been (my head) and what's been going on behind the scenes.

When I finally wrap up the hemming and hawing (I'm a little rusty after a few months off), I introduce you to award-winning novelist, a former client, and my friend, Mrs. Brooke Adams Law.

About Brooke:

Brooke Adams Law is an award-winning author, book coach, and CEO of Writing Brave Publishing.

She helps creative, intuitive women who have always wanted to be writers step into their author identity and start, finish and publish brave, dazzling books.

Brooke's debut novel Catchlight was chosen as the winner of the Fairfield Book Prize, named a Best Indie Book of 2020 by Kirkus Reviews and featured on Good Morning America’s blog

She's famous for teaching a juicy, Divine-Feminine-inspired creative process that makes the journey of writing a pleasure, inspiring her clients to write and finish books they love, find new layers of richness in the stories they want to share, and express their most empowered creative selves.

In this Episode:

We explore...

  • Honoring our multi-faceted humanity

    by normalizing sex through story

  • Character development as a practice in deep empathy

  • Prioritizing the process over the result and permission to not know where things are going

  • The evolution of Brooke's own sex life post shifting away from being so goal-oriented (and how this approach also changed the way She shows up to create art)

  • Reconnecting with “turn on” in order to deepen both sexual and creative expression

  • Pleasure as fuel for our Activism

WTF, Hormones?! With Hormone Expert, Candace Burch 01 Jul 202001:09:13

About Candace:

Candace Burch (M.A.) is a Hormone Health Educator with 30 years of experience advocating for safe, natural approaches to hormone balance and disease prevention. Today, Candace runs Your Hormone Balance, a hormone testing and consulting practice that helps individuals detect and correct hidden hormonal imbalances that negatively impact health and longevity.

For over a decade, Candace served as the Director of Education at one of the nation’s leading hormone testing labs, working closely with top experts in functional medicine and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. She developed training programs and educational resources for thousands of providers and their patients and was the first to integrate hormone testing into a nationwide weight loss program.

Having personally battled hormone imbalances during menopause, Candace like so many other women could not find the support and treatment she needed from traditional doctors. By testing her hormones in saliva and following an all-natural rebalancing plan, she was able to reverse her symptoms and regain control of her life. Today, Candace helps hundreds of clients do the same while continuing to raise public awareness about hormone health through her work as a public speaker, writer, and founder of Women in Balance, an educational non-profit.

Jo Encarnacion is a life and relationship coach who helps womxn:
⚡️LIVE life on purpose
⚡️CREATE play + pleasure in their relationships
⚡️CONNECT with their sexual power

Tools:

Gratitude Practice-At the end of our convo, Jo grounds us with a gratitude practice. Here's why:

An endocrine system boost comes from inducing positive emotions when conjuring gratitude alongside the exponential impact of sharing good news with trusted others.  This is called capitalization.

Benefits:

Opens the mind to learning

Chemical boost

Allows the nervous system to calm down

An added benefit of starting with gratitude is that positive emotions support brain function and by taking the time to get into a positive mindset we prime our brains for learning.

At the neurochemical level, feelings of gratitude are associated with an increase in the neural modulation of the prefrontal cortex, the brain site responsible for managing negative emotions like guilt, shame, and violence.

Also, at the neurochemical level, gratitude acts as a catalyst for neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine – the ones that manage our emotions, anxiety, and immediate stress responses.

Sex after Cancer, the Flourish Rx with Candice Witek13 May 202001:32:53

"A mother of 3, board-certified health coach, holistic nutritionist, plant-focused chef, and two-time breast cancer survivor. I was first diagnosed at 33 after my third child queued me in while nursing that something wasn’t right. From that moment life has never been the same and in a strange way that makes me happy. I live a much fuller life than I ever imagined. After years of coaching women, corporate wellness & motivational talks, I learned how much women need support and a trusted knowledgeable girlfriend to help them navigate womanhood. My answer to that was starting Flourish Rx, a women’s wellness brand dedicated to empowering women through all stages of their life. Throughout my journey with cancer and early menopause, I started creating recipes for things beyond food, to help me heal and feel good. That’s how my products were born. Researching, mixing, creating; with a focus on natural and simple ingredients."

Being Spiritually "Out" with Victoria Washington24 Mar 202201:50:36
This episode is by far the most vulnerable (for me personally) I've ever released.

When I asked Victoria Washington back for round 2 (check out Ep. #45 for our first conversation!), I knew we were going to go DEEP...I just assumed it would be around conscious leadership, building a multi-million dollar empire, Her life-changing embodiment work, and the fact that this QUEEN released a documentary at the beginning of the year to reveal her new name/identity to the thousands of humans in her global community...

And we kind of did touch on all of that. The first 40ish minutes of the conversation unpack:

  • The exhale that comes when we tap into the currency of peace
  • What happens when we shift from HAVING a big vision to being held by our vision
  • The difference between originality and our original assignment
  • How to stop judging our dissatisfaction and allow it to fuel our creativity
  • Difference between alignment and momentum
  • Jealousy and celebrating other's wins as our own
  • + A whole HOLY host of other stuff that may end the podcast...we shall see.

You can join the embodied wealth revolution and follow Victoria's breathtaking artistry on Instagram.

*TRIGGER WARNING* This episode contains accounts of rape and sexual trauma.

Morgan Day Cecil's superpower is separating women from shame so that they can be set free to embody the woman they are made to be.

She leads The EMBODY Academy, a 3-month supportive chrysalis for emerging women: women ready to reclaim power, pleasure, and playfulness at the intersection of sexuality, spirituality, and success--and go from surviving to thriving and create way more impact in the world.

She has a Master's Degree in Philosophy and has spent 20-years training in mind-body methodologies for healing and transformation, including breath-work, trauma-release, hypnotherapy, deep feminine psychology, and tantra.

Her greatest desire is to bring light to dark places and help women heal their own gaze and expand their capacity to love and be loved.
