Muslim Lifestyle - where do we fit?
Season 1 · Episode 3
vendredi 11 mars 2022 • Duration 12:13
This episode reflects on the experience I had when reading a Children’s book, “The Proudest Blue”, to my children.
It focuses on how we educate and make our children (and primarily our daughters) both aware of and prepared for the challenges and discrimination they face at school; which is their first independent social experience after the home and family accompaniment.
❓How can we best prepare our youth? And ourselves?!
❓How do we fit into a society that is inherently and institutionally racist and discriminatory in so many ways?
For more information and support on how you can promote cultural awareness, competency and humility in birthwork, why not join my Clubhouse group which runs weekly on a Thursday at 1pm GMT

As the Muslim population grows both nationally and globally, Muslim identity comes increasingly into the limelight.
❓How do we identify ourselves as Muslims?
❓How are we identified by society at large, as Muslims?
❓How, as Muslim veiled women, can we be “seen” and “heard”, without actually being seen!
Join me, Amy Doula Alqabalia, as I briefly explore this topic.
For more discussion around the issues that Muslims face feel free to join my Diversity Doulas Clubhouse group which is held every Thursday at 1-2pm GMT:

Natural Twin Birth at 40+2 - Umm Abdillah
Season 1 · Episode 14
mardi 6 décembre 2022 • Duration 01:24:10
A long awaited upload for this podcast with a very special guest speaker. (Actual recording date 31.10.22)
It gets busy when you’re deeply and actively involved in the Muslim Birthworld and it’s stories like these that make it all that bit more worthwhile.
Umm Abdillah brings us her triumphant birth story of her twin girls whom she birthed naturally, intervention free, at 40 weeks + 2 days!
Pretty much unheard of these days to reach beyond 35 weeks for a spontaneous birth with twins, let alone ‘full term’! And even rarer to hear of women birthing twins vaginally but I won’t spill the beans …
Tune in to find out how she absolutely aced her birth.
(Grab refreshments cos it’s a long one 💛)
