Movie And A Beer Episode 187: The Batman (2022)
Season 8 · Episode 187
mardi 17 mars 2026 • Duration 01:05:17
Here we are with another super-hero installment of Movie And A Beer, this time it's The Batman which was released in 2022 from director Matt Reeves. We follow a young Batman, played by Robert Pattinson as he uncovers a long time plot within the city of Gotham that involves his own family. The film is more of a ‘70s crime drama in it's aesthetic and presentation visually and this lends to the realism that is missing from most of the super-hero genre today.
During the lengthy film, we enjoyed a couple of local beers. First up was a Helles Lager from Brujos Brewing (OR) followed by a West coast IPA collab from Grains of Wrath (WA) and Boneyard Brewing (OR). Both provided a good quality of flavor to go along with the action on the screen. Give the episode a listen as we discuss in great length the aspects of this iteration of Batman in film and how it fits into existing cannon.
Movie And A Beer Episode 186: Hail, Caesar!
Season 8 · Episode 186
mardi 3 mars 2026 • Duration 57:05
With nostalgia in our bones, we at Movie And A Beer appreciate the finer nuances of the craft when it pays homage to the Golden Age of Cinema....this time around, it's Hail, Caesar!, a Cohen brothers production. Set in the 1950's it follows studio boss Eddie Mannix played by Josh Brolin as he sets out to handle the day to day activities and chaos that is taking place on the movie lot. The main plot follows the story of one of their biggest stars getting kidnapped by Communist sympathizers and Eddie's job is to get him back and save the film.
Along with some amazing visuals and acting, we enjoyed a couple of beers along with the movie. First up as a pilsner from Silver Falls Brewing (OR), followed by an IPA from Old Town Brewing (OR). Both provided a great and refreshing addition to the film. Listen in to hear more about the history of Old Town Pizza & Brewing and what it means to get "shanghaied".
Movie And A Beer Episode 177: Brothers
Season 8 · Episode 177
mardi 28 octobre 2025 • Duration 01:10:08
On this jewel heist family drama of Movie And A Beer, we watched and review Brothers, a 2024 film from Max Barbakow which stars Peter Dinklage and Josh Brolin as thieving siblings that are drawn into a plot to recover some stolen emeralds that their mother had hidden years prior on their dead step-father. While some might argue that this is more of a family drama film where the kids have to come to grips with the choices that their parents made, and try to learn from them (be it in good or bad ways), there is some redeeming qualities to the story. The acting is pretty good by the brothers and mother who shows up later on, the plot (while including of some holes here and there) is believable to an extent, and the supporting cast really shine as they figure out how to retrieve their lost inheritance.
Along the way we had a couple of great lagers, one from Recluse Brew Works (WA) and the other was from Montavilla Brew Works. Both had some exceptional qualities to them, and both actually went pretty well. We also spend a few minutes discussing the history of the podcast and why we do what we do. So give this episode a listen and hear all about that and this interesting family/comedy/heist movie.
Movie And A Beer Episode 87: Shaun of the Dead
Season 3 · Episode 87
mardi 12 juillet 2022 • Duration 37:25
On this 2004 flashback episode of Movie And A Beer we enjoyed Shaun of the Dead, a tale of 30-somethings trying to find themselves among the horror of the zombie apocalypse in London. This was Edgar Wright's first big budget film and it pays homage to Romero's zombie lore while starring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Kate Ashfield.
We wanted to chill and just enjoy a couple of beers with this movie and we drank a couple of lagers from 10 Barrel and Pfriem Brewing. Give the episode a listen to hear us discuss the history of zombies and how these wonderful beers went with the movie.

This is a visual poem that provides three basic stories which follow the actions of the Assassin, the Surgeon, the Alchemist, and the Last Human. The lagers we tried during the film were local from Wayfinder and Mt. Tabor Brewing. Give the episode a listen to hear more about them and how they went with the film.
Movie And A Beer Episode 85: Everything Everywhere All At Once
Season 3 · Episode 85
mardi 7 juin 2022 • Duration 36:42
Be ready for a crazy ride, on this episode of Movie and a Beer we watched and discuss the multi-verse mayhem of "Everything Everywhere All A Once". With amazing storytelling and multiple-character acting by Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, Stephanie Hsu, James Hong, and Jamie Lee Curtis, this thrill ride asks critical questions about family, decisions, and consequences. Oh, and we had some really great beers along for the movie also.
This time around we had a couple of dark beers and a hazy IPA from three breweries in Seattle that I recently visited. Shoutouts to Jellyfish, Counterbalance, and Flying Lion brewing. Give the episode a listen to hear about the beers and this great movie.
Movie And A Beer Episode 84:The Northman
Season 3 · Episode 84
mardi 24 mai 2022 • Duration 41:14
It's time for a Viking revenge story on this episode of Movie And A Beer. The Northman staring a multitude of actors including Alexander Skarsgård, Ethan Hawke, Nicole Kidman, and Willem Dafoe, bring the audience into a world of deceit, anger, yelling, and more yelling, and vengeance.
We were lucky enough to sample some meads from Denmark and a local one from Battleground WA to help channel the vibe of this dark, sinister, and brutal betrayal on the screen. Give the episode a listen to learn about mead and how we loved the film.
Movie And A Beer Episode 83: Desperado
Season 4 · Episode 83
mardi 10 mai 2022 • Duration 32:23
For this episode of Movie And A Beer, we celebrate Cinco-De-Mayo by watching the classic 1995 Robert Rodriguez film Desperado. We also enjoyed a couple of classic imported cerveza's from Mexico to go along with this "south of the border Pulp Fiction". Staring the likes of Antonio Banderas, Steve Buscemi, Salma Hayek, and many more, who are either trying to escape from or seek revenge on Bucho, the drug lord that murdered the El Mariachi's girlfriend and shot him in the hand.
While this film is short on dialogue and story, it makes up for that with great visuals and action. Not kid-friendly, but definitely beer-friendly! Give the episode a listen to learn more.
Movie And A Beer Episode 82: Mean Girls
Season 4 · Episode 82
mardi 3 mai 2022 • Duration 35:37
We've traveled back to 2004 again to watch Mean Girls for this Movie And A Beer podcast episode. Watch out for the Plastics and don't let your guard down! This great teen drama follows Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) as she works her way into the best click while playing both sides.
In order to appreciate this 'chick flick' of a film, we sipped on some hard-seltzers from a couple of great breweries. The first samples were from Untitled Art Beverage (WI) and the last was from Lone River Brewing (TX). Give the episode a listen to how we liked these and how much they really went with the drama on the screen.
Movie And A Beer Episode 81: He Died With A Felafel In His Hand
Season 4 · Episode 81
mardi 19 avril 2022 • Duration 44:12
On this struggling writer episode of Movie And A Beer, we watched the 2001 Aussie-based film He Died With A Felafel In His Hand and enjoyed a couple of amazing beers while doing so. The film follows Danny, played by Noah Taylor, a struggling 30-something writer who's bouncing across Australia in different shared housing situations and the experiences he and his housemates have.
The beers we picked out for this episode were on point. The first was a Pilsner from Stormbreaker Brewing (OR) followed by a Hefeweizen from Barrel Mountain Brewing (WA). Both really provided a great platform to enjoy the film with. Give the episode a listen to learn more and hear us try to figure out some Australian slang.
