S12 Ep8: ROSIE MEEK ON THE NEW GOVERNMENTS’ PROPOSED PRISON REFORM AND THE IMPORTANCE OF SPORTS INTIATIVES IN PRISONS 18 Aug 202400:35:06
ROSIE MEEK ON THE NEW GOVERNMENTS’ PROPOSED PRISON REFORM AND THE IMPORTANCE OF SPORTS INTIATIVES IN PRISONS
For the final episode of this series of the #MondayMile podcast, I’m joined by a very special guest, Professor of Forensic Psychology and my yoga buddy Rosie Meek!
Rosie is an incredibly impressive woman, from working with the United Nations to demonstrating the value of sport interventions in preventing youth crime, using sport as a tool for good.
We discuss how increasing sports initiatives in prisons and in youth centres will not only help to prevent crime but will improve the mental and physical wellbeing of those who are incarcerated.
We take a deep dive into the new governments’ intentions for prison reform, discussing how it’s an opportunity to reduce the pressure on prisons to allow for more educational and therapeutic programs that can lead to fewer instances of reoffending and safer communities.
Hearing Rosie discuss the problems with the prison system today and how we can use sport initiatives to improve the system was so fascinating and I hope all you Monday Mile listeners will agree!

S11 Ep7: WOODY & KLEINY ON THEIR CAREER; FROM BRITAIN’S GOT TALENT TO INTERNET SENSATIONS 19 May 202400:43:25
Things get very WAK-y on this week’s #MondayMile, as I take a trip out to Hertfordshire to meet YouTube LEGENDS @woodyandkleiny. They were some of the first big content creators in the UK, and I go behind the scenes to find out the secret to their longevity
Woody and Kleiny are definitely known as jokers, so I’m surprised to see just how professional their operation is. As we take laps round the garden of their base of operations, the WAK Pad, they tell me about their journey from freestyle football performers on Britain’s Got Talent, to internet sensations with billions of a views and a robust content creation machine powering them.
Across an inspiring chat, they share advice for aspiring content creators, their proudest moments of the past decade, and their belief in the law of attraction and manifestation – something we can definitely agree on!
Thanks for having me, lads!

S11 Ep6: SHONA VERTUE ON BECOMING A FITNESS INFLUENCER, LEARNING HOW TO SLEEP BETTER AND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE AUSTRALIAN AND UK LIFESTYLE12 May 202400:29:36
We’re back with another #MondayMile and this week I’m joined by personal trainer, fitness influencer and health and wellness She-EO @shona_vertue
This week, we’re in sunny Australia, and where better to discuss health and fitness than on the gorgeous Bondi Beach? Shona and I chat about the adjustments she had to make when moving to the UK from Australia, not only with the way she keeps herself fit, but how she helped to keep clients motivated and inspired on those rainy and cold mornings…
We chat about her rollercoaster career - from being a competitive gymnast, to working in an office, and then reigniting her passion for fitness to build a huge, passionate online community.
Shona also opens up to me about how her newborn baby has changed her day-to-day, dropping the absolute truth bomb that ‘balance is a lie’. It’s one of many great pieces of wisdom she drops on me, including the importance of staying mindful everyday and being adaptable – words to live by, I think!
What an inspirational chat! And it doesn’t hurt that the setting’s so beautiful as well  Thanks Shona!

S11 Ep5: KATYA JONES ON THE POWER OF FEMALE FRIENDSHIP, BEING SINGLE, SHARING HER LIFE ONLINE AND HER PASSION FOR SUSTAINABILITY05 May 202400:37:24
Monday Mile goes Down Under! This week, I’ve brought the podcast to sunny Sydney, Australia, and I’m over the moon to share the experience with my best friend in the world – returning Monday Miler Katya Jones. You’ll know her best as a professional dancer from Strictly Come Dancing – and, you know, being generally all over my feed 💃

We spent an unreal three-week adventure together, hitting five different places in India and then Sydney. Of course, we had to squeeze in a pod. We chat about the strength of our friendship, looking back over the impact we’ve had on each other’s lives since meeting years ago. Katya and I really do have a transformative bond, best shown by how her passion for sustainability has influenced me. We share clothes, we shop second-hand – things I never would have done years ago!

Katya’s a special person and I’m lucky I get to see the real her 💕 We talk about whether she might want to show more of that to the world too, reflecting on her choice to be private online. Though we’re both single and thriving independently, we also chat about aging and our ticking maternal clocks – right before we hit the town to meet our husbands, of course.

This episode is so special to me. An open honest and raw conversation between two best friends, with us taking a moment to appreciate each other and celebrate our learnings. We’re each other’s cheerleaders and to have that unconditional support from a friendship is very special ❤️

S11 Ep4: EILISH MCCOLGAN ON HER RECORD-BREAKING WIN AND FOLLOWING IN HER MOTHER’S FOOTSTEPS28 Apr 202400:33:53
We’re sprinting into a new week as I’m joined by @eilishmccolgan for another #MondayMile episode! 🏃‍♀️

Eilish is a 4x European Championships medallist and 3x Olympian who became the 10,000 metres champion at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, breaking her own’s Mum’s record that she’d held for 31 years 🤯  We chat about that amazing moment, and she tells me how it feels following in her incredible mum’s footsteps 🏃‍♀️

We also look forward to this year’s Olympics, delving into what it takes to qualify and the tough process of her recovering from an injury to get back to peak fitness 💪

Running is a tough sport, physically and mentally, but Eilish is fortunate to have her partner Michael along for the ride wherever she goes. They travel 11 months of the year to train for competitions, and she tells me how incredibly lucky she feels to have that support system with her through those long weeks of training.

With not long now to go until the Games, it’s fantastic to catch up with Eilish and get a real insight into what happens behind the scenes as she gets ready for the #2024Olympics

S11 Ep3: LEAH MCCOURT ON MMA AND HER DEVASTATING INJURY 21 Apr 202400:31:51
I’m back on home turf for this week’s Monday Mile! It’s exciting to be back in Belfast, and even more exciting to be chatting to world champion MMA fighter Leah ‘The Curse’ McCourt (@leahmccourtmma). She’s the #1 Featherweight fighter in @bellatormma, as well as a Black belt in Brazilian jujitsu and judo. Basically, she’s a savage
Our walk takes us near the SSE Arena, where Leah was due to fight Sinead Kavanagh for the second time last month – but the fight never happened due to a HORRIFIC injury Leah suffered in training. Leah reveals exactly what happened, and talks about the pain of missing out on that opportunity (and also the very real pain of her broken rib!)
She’s both fearless and friendly, which I discover as she opens up about her tough path into MMA, including her training AND working full time while raising her daughter, and being early to the game in women’s MMA. Leah’s keen to share why she thinks it’s the most exciting sport in the world, but also what might need to change about the sport – specifically when it comes to those brutal weight cuts -
Thanks for joining me, Leah!

S11 Ep2: GREGG WALLACE ON 20 YEARS OF MASTERCHEF AND FAMILY LIFE 14 Apr 202400:35:28

A brand new Monday means a brand new Mile, and in today’s ep I’m joined by British TV legend @greggawallace. You’ll know him as a judge on @masterchefuk,  but you may not be as familiar with his mission to transform our country’s health through his lifestyle platform @greggwallace.health.

I catch up with Gregg in the middle of filming Series 20 of MasterChef, where he tells us how the show has stayed fresh after decades on the air. Television is a mad world to navigate even if you’re not as busy as him, so I ask him about how he manages such a hectic lifestyle. He plans meticulously, and squeezes a lot in - including plenty of time with his wife Anna and youngest son Sid, who has severe Autism.

Strict planning also helped Gregg achieve huge weight loss in recent years. He cut out fast food and snacks and started centring his diet on healthy, hearty meals. Now Gregg helps others do the same through his website GreggWallace.Health, with the mission of halting the fast-rising obesity crisis striking our country. It’s a noble cause!

There’s lots to take away from our chat – which is ironic as I won’t be touching one of those for a while…thanks Gregg!

S11 Ep1: CHERRY HEALEY ON MENOPAUSE, MANIFESTATION AND DATING APPS07 Apr 202400:40:52
#MondayMile is back! This series we’re taking the Mile to some very special locations – kicking off with a @pandocruises ship! I’m joined by boss chick @cherryhealey, best known as co-presenter on Inside The Factory, and her for own documentaries on @bbcthree. Cherry and I cover a lot of ground, quite literally, as she takes me on an in-depth tour of the ship.

I learn all about her onboard wellness workshops, as well as her own health and wellness journey. Cherry is perimenopausal, and we chat about the stigma associated with ageing, as well as the lifestyle adjustments she’s made as her body’s changed. Cherry also makes sure to pay tribute to the woman in media who paved the way for open discussions about the menopause (@davinamccall, @mariella_frostrup, @penny.lancaster) which is SO important!

I also probe her about the new love in her life, who she met through a dating app. We talk all about the new modern ways of finding love and how staying open is the key – not sure if she’s quite convinced me to redownload Raya yet though. Maybe it’s all down to the power of manifestation; Cherry’s got so much good going on her life, so she tells me how she talked the universe into sending it her way. I think we can all learn from that one!

So pleased to be kicking off this new series with a fantastic chat with a fantastic woman. I’ll see you on a wellness cruise very soon, Cherry!

S10 Ep8: JASON FOX ON MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS, BRUTAL SAS TRAINING AND DEALING WITH MATT HANCOCK ON ‘CELEBRITY SAS: WHO DARES WINS’03 Mar 202400:40:26
Joining me on #MondayMile this week is @jason_carl_fox – author, mental health advocate, former Special Forces operative and current SAS: Who Dares Wins Directing Staff.

During an incredibly brave and vulnerable chat, we dig deep into Jason’s life and career. He tells all about his path into the military, and how his natural desire for challenge drew him to the Special Forces. We also touch on the reality of SAS: Who Dares Wins, including how it compares to real SAS selection (it doesn’t), whether he feels bad for tormenting recruits (he doesn’t) and whether he thinks I could handle an interrogation scenario (he DEFINITELY doesn’t). He also spills all about THAT viral Matt Hancock moment.
Jason is also incredibly open with me about the lowest point in his journey – an abandoned attempt to take his own life. After, being diagnosed with PTSD in 2012, Jason was discharged from the military and was left to wrestle with drastically changed personal and professional circumstances, sending his mental health spiralling. He talks about his rock bottom, and the moment he decided to be honest with himself and others, take therapy seriously and do the work to save his own life. It’s powerful stuff, and it’s really amazing to hear it from a man like Jason, who now uses his own story to help others.
One of the most important episodes we’ve ever done – thank you so much for sharing with me Jason!

This week on the #MondayMile podcast, I’m joined by meteorologist, author and @gmb weather presenter @lauratobinweather.

Us Brits love to talk about the weather, so it’s fascinating for me when Laura tells me about her meteorological journey, including how she fell in love with weather, how she became a scientist despite failing her Physics A-Level, and the lifestyle habits that keep her energised for those bright and early morning bulletins.

We also chat in-depth about the current climate crisis.  Laura describes her first-hand experience of extreme weather events, lays out what our future could look like, and shares some simple ways each of us can help to reduce the impact we make on the planet  It’s a refreshing level of optimism in these bleak times!

S12 Ep7: CHAMPION ROWER ERIN KENNEDY OPENS UP ABOUT COMPETING AT THE PARALYMPICS, and CHEMOTHERAPY 11 Aug 202400:39:13
This week on @Monday_mile_series I’m taking a stroll through Henley on Thames with a lady who knows these waters very well…@erinmwj, a Paralympic rowing gold medallist and breast cancer survivor.
At 29 Erin was diagnosed with breast cancer, which has led to her now being an advocate for early detection and diagnosis. That diagnosis didn’t hold her back though as she competed in the Rowing World Cup, winning gold just four days after her diagnosis and then going on to win the 2022 European Championships whilst on chemo – what a superhuman!
In this down to earth chat we delve into what it takes to be a coxswain, how she learnt to find the boundary between friend and leader with her fellow rowers and how this helped them to win gold. We take a deep dive into her cancer diagnosis, how she tackled the news with a resilient and incredibly positive attitude that carried her through the rest of her treatment.
Erin’s story is so inspirational, it was such an honour to hear it!

S10 Ep5: THE ‘ULTIMATE FAITHFUL’ JAZ SINGH ON TACTICS, FAITH AND THE FATEFUL FINAL TRAITORS MOMENT12 Feb 202400:30:24
This week on the #MondayMile podcast I’m joined by ‘Jazatha Christie’ himself - @jazsinghofficial
Jaz has quickly risen to fame after appearing on season 2 of #TheTraitors. His super sleuthing led him all the way to the final, and he’s since been dubbed the ‘Ultimate Faithful’
On this week’s episode, we chat about his time on the show, including that fateful final moment with @harryclarky and @mollie_pearcee We discuss why he was originally desperate to be a Traitor, how his strategy was influenced by his Sikh faith, and the incredible response he’s had from the public since the show aired.
In classic Monday Mile fashion, we also discuss his fitness and wellness routine, including his unexpected decision to run the Manchester Marathon We also look to the future, as Jaz maps out what post-Traitors life might be – we might be looking at the next James Bond…?
It was incredible to speak to Jaz this week after watching The Traitors religiously for the past month. I had such a great time chatting to him and can’t wait to see what he gets up to next!

This week on the #MondayMile podcast I’m joined by radio DJ and TV presenter @melvinodoom, best known for his BBC Radio 1 show @rickiehw and @charliehedgesdj.
Melvin and I take a walk around some familiar territory for him in snowy Central London to discuss a wide range of topics - and even whip out some (questionable) dance moves .

We relive his journey into radio, including how he formed a treasured family unit with partners Rickie and Charlie. We also bond over the difficulties of modern dating, including the awkwardness of the apps and dating in the public eye. Melvin’s mantra is to be open to anything, which I love.

Melvin also tells me about his experience on last year’s Celebrity Save Our Sperm, including what he learnt about his own health and how he’s seen it help other men examine their fertility.

Not only is she a Mother, a wife, she’s former athlete, a broadcaster, author, writer, and fellow podcaster. The word professionalism can be banded around lightly, however this women encapsulates everything that word defines. There’s great and there are The Greats, and Gabby Logan is one of them.

S9 Ep8: Abi Burton on rugby, encephalitis, and how being sectioned changed her life27 Nov 202300:37:59
This week on the #MondayMile podcast, I’m joined by Team GB rugby player and Olympian Abi Burton. Abi shared the incredible story of her struggle with encephalitis, a rare autoimmune disease that left her in a medically induced coma.
In the spring of 2022 Abi’s teammates first noticed that she was acting ‘strange’, and she was originally diagnosed with depression. She then began to have seizures and was sectioned with a misdiagnosis of stress induced psychosis. Eventually, she was diagnosed with encephalitis and put into a medically induced coma for 26 days.
Whilst we stroll around West London, we get into the mind-boggling story of Abi’s illness, how it affected her parents and how it has changed the way she views her life now. Abi’s now firmly focussed on balancing her own rugby aspirations with coaching the next generation of players, as she hopes to be able to continue to shape young girls lives. It’s super inspiring!
Abi’s story is fascinating and I hope all you Monday Mile listeners will agree!

You can find more about Abi on the NEW Sporty AF series from Team GB. A group of inspirational female athletes laying all cards on the table.

On this week’s #MondayMile podcast, I take in the sunny sights of West-London with former Strictly Come Dancing professional and TV personality @aj11ace
AJ’s competitive spirit led him from the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent to the ballroom of Strictly for four wonderful seasons. He’s also wowed the judges with his apple crumble on Celebrity MasterChef, and he took on the jungle in I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

We chat about his decision to leave Strictly, and why he felt it was his time to move on and say yes to other opportunities. He also opened up about his perspective on his brother @curtisprichard12’s Love Island experience, and the importance of having a good support system after leaving a reality show. We also talk in depth about how he stays happy and healthy, his fitness routine and his daily ‘eggs on toast, a cup of tea and crappy tv’ – a solid combo if you ask me.

On this week’s #MondayMile podcast I’m joined by fitness instructor, television star and all round bundle of energy Mr Motivator.

Mr Motivator shot to fame in 1993 when he joined GMTV, leading fitness sessions for the nation, and following up with a best-selling line of fitness videos. He’s kept up his mission of fitness for everyone in recent years; he joined the BBC’s HealthCheck UK Live during lockdown to help us keep fit at home, and he currently leads regular home workouts on social media.

Our chat is filled with inspirational gems. He tells me how he channelled his positive mindset into success, going from a struggling single father leading classes in his local leisure centre to training celebrities and exercising with the nation on television. We also talk in depth about spreading joy, finding inspiration to move, and his aspirations to become Prime Minister (I’d definitely vote for him!)

A huge thanks to ‘Mote’ for joining me on this week’s episode. It’s hard not to feel inspired when you’re walking around with a man who’s high-fiving people in the street!

S9 Ep5: Scott Thomas on success, sobriety and his famous family.06 Nov 202300:39:20
On this week’s #MondayMile podcast, I’m joined by entrepreneur, tv presenter and ex-Love Island star Scott Thomas.

When Scott shot to fame in 2016, he was known as a bit of a party animal. In recent years, he’s completely turned his life around after making the decision to go sober. As well as being an obsessive Padel player (like me!), he has several successful business ventures under his belt - a PR agency and a wellness brand, as well as a podcast and a TV series with his brothers Adam Thomas, Ryan Thomas and his late father.
We talk about what drove Scott to finally make the decision to give up booze, and how trading in two-day benders for 5am starts has transformed his life. He talks intensely about his drive to succeed in business, and what he thinks about the shadow of Love Island hanging over him.
Family is a consistent theme of our chat. Scott opens up about his relationship with his famous brothers, discovering their lineage on Mancs In Mumbai, and how much he loves being an uncle. We also tackle the topic of grief head on, as he tells me how his family banded together to process the loss of their father.
Scott's energy and passion for wellness are infectious, and hearing how he turned his life around to achieve his goals is inspiring. Scott, anytime I am in Manchester I'll see you down at the Padel Club in Wilmslow for a doubles match. You and Adam v me and Katya - it's on when he’s finished in the ballroom!

S12 Ep6: PIZZA RESTAURANT OWNER AND PODCAST HOST MARK WOGAN ON HIS ADDICTIVE PERSONALITY AND HUGE WEIGHT LOSS TRANSFORMATION 04 Aug 202400:49:04

This week on @monday_mile_series, it’s me and @markwogan13 – the culinary legend behind @spooningwithmarkwogan and @homesliceldn It’s a chat full of food and fitness this week, and there’s no better man to do it with.
As a person with a self-described addictive personality, Mark has lived a life of extremes. These days, though, he’s all about balance: he treats his body well with ice baths and exercise, but he also fuels himself with perfect pizza from his restaurant Homeslice. He only eats the whole thing occasionally.
And of course, we chat about his hit podcast Spooning, which is NOT about cuddling in bed, I discovered. Head over to Mark’s page to see my episode with @katyajones – right after listening to Monday Mile of course.
Thank you Mark for such an interesting and introspective chat!

S9 Ep4: Denise Lewis DBE on becoming an Olympic champion, Damehood, and ‘Don’t Rock The Boat’30 Oct 202300:36:36
On this week’s #MondayMile podcast, I have a lovely little chat with Olympian, sports broadcaster and all-round boss lady Dame @realdeniselewis.
Denise is a legend of British athletics. She specialised in the Heptathlon, and became the first European to bring home the Gold medal at the Sydney Olympics in 2000. She’s received numerous accolades in her lifetime, and became a Dame in the 2023 New Year Honours. We take a rainy walk around Primrose Hill and speak about this impressive career, starting from her humble beginnings in Wolverhampton, to competing at the highest level of athletics.

These days you’re more likely to find her in a studio than on the track, and we talk about it feels to commentate on those who have come after her. We also touch on representation, and how important it is to see diversity within sport.
I ask Denise about her most satisfying physical challenge – an intense rowing excursion on the TV show ‘Don’t Rock The Boat’. And of course, I couldn’t resist asking the honour of receiving a Damehood. I do agree that Dames should get free parking - seems like a no-brainer.
Denise is a pioneer and a complete inspiration to be around - I loved having her on the pod!

S9 Ep3: Chris Robshaw on learning to be a good leader, life after leaving rugby and the future of the sport.22 Oct 202300:34:00
On this week’s #MondayMile podcast, I link up with former England national rugby union team captain @Chrisrobshawrugby to talk marathons, mental health and forming new routines after retirement.
Chris has had an impressive career, having played for London’s Harlequins and Sdlegion as well as captaining the national team. He announced his retirement in October 2022, and opens up to me about adjusting to life post-rugby; from his shifting identity and physique, to finding new hobbies and challenges. We talk about how he pushed himself to run the London Marathon earlier this year - and why he’ll never do it again
We also dive into the current state of rugby, discussing the recent protocol changes on head injuries and concussion, the stigma around the sport, and how he feels about the future of rugby.
Away from rugby, Chris also reveals a softer side – who would’ve guessed that he loves romcoms as much as I do?
I loved chatting with Chris! He’s chill and down to earth – a real joy to be around. He might not be down for another London marathon, but count me in for a romcom marathon anytime.
Our chat is available to listen to now on all podcast platforms .

S8 Ep8: Jake Dennis - Is the future of motorsport electric? With Forumla E World Champion.27 Aug 202300:26:45
This week on the Monday Mile Podcast, we are in East London and we are at a racing track, in fact we are inside at the Excel and we are about to link up with Jake Dennis, a guy who is leading the charge for Avalanche Andretti on the Formula E Circuit.  He's also a Red Bull Racing Simulator driver and we caught up with Jake on an insightful grid walk ahead of his home race double header.

We chat about the different formula in motorsport, and how his journey through the ranks, swapping from F3 cars to sports cars, has given him the skill set to drive a formula E car so well. He lends his success to having an adaptive personality and the importance of putting yourself in different situations so you know how to adapt when put under pressure. He shares an insight into how different it is racing an Electric car and the importance of visual reference points throughout a race, "You jump in this and it's like no vibrations, super smooth and just wind".

We discuss how the sport of Formula E is setting an example and part of the bigger picture globally in pioneering environmental technologies.  Jake shares his personal insight and belief on the future of motorsport becoming Electric "You see Formula 1 trying to claim they will be Net Zero by 2030". As we opened the conversation of longevity throughout the podcast, we also spoke about the associated dangers, and the often unspoken conversation on the reality of a bad crash in motorsport and how ultimately your career can end in one serious accident.

S8 Ep7: Emma Gilmour - The first ever Female Driver for McLaren on Hyperfocus 20 Aug 202300:28:09
This week on the Monday Mile Podcast, we are in Woking….This Mile is a little different, it’s brought us inside…to a motorsport factory. I’ll give you some clues, well I’ve already said we’re in Woking, but there’s a lot of papaya coloured logos around. The team is steeped in racing history, and today we are Lucky enough to be speaking to their first ever female driver…we are of course at Mclaren HQ, and we’re here to meet Emma Gilmour.

Emma takes us through the famous Boulevard, and gives us an insight as to what it is like to  be a part of McLaren as they celebrate their 60th year. We discuss her transition from horse riding to motor racing, and how from the outside, the sport of motor racing can be perceived as dangerous.  Emma also shares how having control of a car is of course, very different to that of a horse!  “A horse has a mind of its own:” . We discuss the physicality of the sport, and the mindset required to excel, that being extreme focus.

We chat about the opportunity Extreme E has given female drivers as a platform to get more females in seats on the grid moving forward, "on any Extreme E grid, you’ve got 50% male and 50% female, so all these young girls at home can see that women can compete at the top level”.

Emma takes us step by step through the mental thought process, when she is at the start line, and how when it goes wrong, it can really go wrong, “I try to straighten the wheels for the impact with the hay bales, instantly you’re like 90 degrees to the track”.

For me this was a really insightful listen, and interesting to learn more about the process when it comes to taking that first step into a car, and the associated pressures which Emma has embraced and charged forward with when it comes to racing under the flag of McLaren - their heritage being fast cars, petrol and winning.

S8 Ep6: Lucy Cork - The Stuntwoman that taught Tom Cruise some moves and how she handles the pressure of comparison.13 Aug 202300:32:43
This week on the Monday Mile podcast we are in Surrey, and we are linking up with a good friend of mine.  Have you ever wondered who the face is behind the stunts in the likes of Mission Impossible? Today’s guest is for starters one of the most low key and talented individuals I know.

Known best for being a stunt performer, and one of the top performers in the world today, Lucy has performed in just a few movies you might know - Jumanji, Fast and Furious, and Mission Impossible. We discuss the importance of leaving the "ego" behind when it comes to performing on set, and what it’s like working and choreographing scenes with Tom Cruise. We discuss the famous Pole Hopping scene, which Tom leaned on Lucy for her experience in Pole dancing.

We also open up the conversation and struggles with body image when it comes to performing and moulding to fit the actors, we talk body language, movement and size.  We discuss Lucy’s ability to adapt like a Chameleon, and her ability to mimic movement.  Trust me I can vouch for that - her innate ability to pick up anything she is shown is incredible and that skill set spans from driving, riding motorbikes, diving, gymnastics and  lots more. “If people want to hire me, they hire me for my skills” .

She’s doubled for the likes of Cameron Diaz, Rebecca Ferguson, Hayley Atwell, Vanessa Kirby (Hobbs and Shaw),  Rachel Weiz, Cobie Smoulders, Karen Gillan and she has filmed iconic scenes in Mission Impossible Rogue Nation. We also discuss the subject of dating and the challenges that can bring due to the nature of Lucy's physically strong and capable ability.

This week on the Monday Mile Podcast, we are in central London with a lady who’s about to hit the Radio airwaves…..she’s one of those that has the voice for radio and the face for TV she’s a double threat, starting out in Children’s TV and being a staple of the CBBC family, she’s a qualified journalist and author. She’s the presenter of Radio 1 Life Hacks, and now a face of the BBC Morning Live Family.

Katie also has her own show on Friday and Saturday mornings and co-hosts going home with Vick and Jordan when one of them is off’ on BBC Radio 1 and we link up with her just as she heads into the studio to discuss life, and we cover the topic of eating disorders. We talk about the importance of therapy, and Katie’s personal development in that space as a person-centred Counsellor.

Katie speaks openly about the challenge she has had with binge eating, and how it is often seen as the forgotten eating disorder.  Binge behaviour is often glamourised  “We encourage people to eat and to binge drink, yet you are punished when you can’t stop. People always think of Anorexia, which has the highest fatality rate of any mental illness”.  She shares her triggers, loneliness, stress, and anxiety, and the moment she caught herself ordering food in a hotel room and then purging and making herself sick. She also shares her tips and tricks and how she is currently working through this mental illness.

We also chat about the pressures around being busy, “everybody is always doing something” , and how social media can be a spiral for feeling like this, and the feeling that it's not OK to be bored.

Katie talks about the way she is treated differently when she is bigger, and her body shape changes, "we are quite a fat phobic society". We discuss role models and the importance of seeing more fuller bodied women on TV, and how it is changing positively.

S8 Ep4: Sonny Jay on how he transformed his life in 6 months.30 Jul 202300:35:12
This week on the Monday Mile Podcast,  we are in central London with a radio DJ. Known best for his time at the Capital Breakfast show he now hosts his own Capital Late Show. He’s recently gone through a drastic body transformation and has quite literally turned his life around.

We discuss Dancing on Ice and the mindset learned from that, going in as the underdog with no pressure and the discipline required to progress. “ you can start terrible at something, if you consistently do something you can get really good at it”.

We chat about his former lifestyle covering double shifts on the radio and how it was not conducive to a healthy lifestyle with extremely early mornings and very late nights.  Sonny shares his inspiration behind the transformation and the significant 30th Birthday mark, and the steps he's taken to make some real life changes.

One takeaway I particularly liked, was Sonny's theory on having “peaks in the day, having 2 points of high”. Formerly he would have one peak, that being work, (which exhausted him mentally) and the rest of the day was on a decline, feeling jet-lagged and the day being done.

He chats about goal setting and the time-frame of 6 months and the importance of being able to apply yourself to make those lifestyle changes. One being changing the mindset around food, and removing the mentality of having to finish everything on the plate and learning what being full and satisfied is.

Aimee will be probing for answers from the full spectrum of routines; the early birds who have finely tuned Monday mornings, to the late risers who struggle to get up before 11am. S8 Ep3: Oscar Piastri on being more popular than Lando at Silverstone23 Jul 202300:19:47
This week on Monday Mile we travel South to Chichester, to link up with one of the most promising young drivers in motorsport at Goodwood Festival of Speed. I’ll give you a clue, he’s not the first Australian driver to sit in the hot seat at McLaren F1. He has spent the last few weekends fighting off Lewis Hamilton for position on track, and is just fresh off his 4th place at Silverstone Grand Prix.  He’s also just secured another top 5 in Hungary - this week I’m talking to Oscar Piastri.

We chat all things F1, from his rise and very successful career through the junior ranks and the importance of that success in Formula 3 and F2, to prepare you for the circuit. From his first experience sitting in an F1 car , and nearly putting his head through the steering wheel to securing his place at McLaren F1.

Oscar shares his passion and competitive nature by doing everything to the best of his ability and how aiming for the top of motorsport was his only option. We also discuss the importance in education and how being a World class athlete does require and element of academic ability to perform your best. “I was competitive academically, we’re all very capable of driving at almost the same speed as each other, in F1 half of the game is having a brain free enough to think about other stuff apart from driving”.

We delve into his new found fame on the grid off the back of his result at Silverstone, and how the British public were chanting his name over Lewis Hamilton. He shares an open account of how nothing can prepare you for the media attention as one of the only 20 drivers in the world to have a seat in F1, and the responsibilities that come along with the job.

S12 Ep5: SUE BARKER ON HER BROADCASTING LEGACY, FUTURE ‘QUESTION OF SPORT’ TOUR PLANS AND ANDY MURRAY’S RETIREMENT28 Jul 202400:41:42
I’m joined by a literal legend in this week’s Monday Mile – the one and only Sue Barker. She’s an ex-professional tennis player turned world class sports broadcaster, best known for her coverage of Wimbledon, the Olympics and Question of Sport. She’s a huge role model for me, and I’m so proud to call her a friend.
Sue tells me the story of how she broke down barriers to succeed in the male-dominated field of sports broadcasting, landing several prestigious presenting roles. She’s synonymous with Wimbledon, and she returned to Centre Court just weeks ago to say an emotional farewell to Andy Murray, whose final professional matches take place this week.  Her rundown of his career is a fascinating insight from someone who had a front row view of it all.
With her legacy cemented, she’s keen to see others thrive in the positions where she made her name – including me! She’s helped me immensely, and I’m so happy to be able to give you all a taste of her wisdom too.

This week on Monday Mile I head into Central London, to link up with a man who is known as the cat, one of Cricket's greatest all time Bowlers.  He’s been King of the Jungle and has danced on BBC’s Strictly, and more recently is just out of the Legends Jungle in South Africa. He’s got an infectious energy and is known for making people smile on our screens, from Question of Sport to fronting the BBC cricket coverage, and I managed to catch up with Phil during a busy time ahead of the Ashes.

We caught up on all things Cricket, the changes he has seen within the game now as a Commentator on the other side of the sport, from the turn of professionalism, and the awareness and support with Mental health. Phil shares his episode with depression, and lack of support back in the day - “In those days you were just told to roll your sleeves up and get on with it, it was a sign of weakness”.

This week on Monday Mile, we head to West London to link up with Isa Guha. Today's guest is really making her mark as one of the newer faces in the next generation of broadcast. From the Ashes, to her latest role at Wimbledon anchoring the coverage for BBC each morning.

We chat through the mindset and approach in taking new reins at Wimbledon, the associated pressures and dealing with any controversial comments in the media. In the words of Isa, ”I felt the need to say, I'm not here to be the next Sue Barker". We discuss Isa's journey through sport as a Former England Cricketer who played in two World Cup's  and the importance of working together as a team to bring the best to any broadcast.

This podcast isn't all glossy though, Isa has experienced significant loss and trauma, so we discuss the topic of grief, and dealing with and how she has channelled her Mum's energy in her charity  "Take her Lead", through living out her values using her Mum's philosophy to encourage young girls to get our there and  get out of their comfort zone.

This week on Monday Mile, I head into Central London. Today's guest is the CEO of EE and heads up the UK's biggest consumer business in the country and best fixed AND mobile networks. It's Marc Allera. As a man in demand and a hefty schedule, Marc doesn’t often get the opportunity to have a lunch time stroll, for him it's normally a 6am gym session and then bouncing from meeting to meeting. However today, he has somehow managed to find a break in his schedule to join us for a mile, and let us into some of his secrets when it comes to decision making and the number one thing that contributes to his success in running the ship in a business at the heart of technology that never sleeps.

We tap into his mindset and how he balances the demands of such a high powered job in providing a service that is so systemically important (THE INTERNET). We discuss the immense pressure and responsibilities that come with looking after the welfare of thousands of employees inn the UK, and the  introduction of working from home and the positive and negative mental health impact of this forward thinking change. Marc shares his thoughts on the workplace, and the office not just as a base, but a place for people to learn and grow off each other and to communicate, highlighting the importance of real human interaction. Marc shares some of the steps he took and the process he followed for those that are interested in emulating a similar career path.

S7 Ep7: Ellie Simmonds - “I’ve had people pat me on the head” Difficulties with disability representation and knowing when she was extraordinary07 May 202300:38:59
This week on Monday Mile I link up with a British Paralympic swimmer in Regent’s Park, a place to her that feels a little like home in the City of London. In 2008 she won two Gold medals for Great Britain and was the youngest member of the team. She then went on to win two Golds yet again, and claim the World record in 2012 and another Gold in Rio 2016.  This week I am talking to Ellie Simmonds!

Ellie received an MBE in recognition of her achievements, and in fact she is,  the youngest to ever receive one, she’s also got an OBE and is an advocate for representation across disability. Ellie opens up about the moment when she did feel different, “as a kid there was, you know when you have this moment, and your friends are all tall” .

We discuss the issues around disability representation, what it’s going to take to change that and some of the issues she has experienced along the way, “I’ve had people pat me on the head, and rub me on the cheek” .

S7 Ep6: Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix - On body image, confidence and struggling with eating in an aesthetic sport like diving.30 Apr 202300:35:39
This week on Monday Mile I link up with one of Britain's most exciting Olympic talents, not just because she has two Commonwealth Golds in her back pocket and made the Olympic final at the age of 16, but because she’s a role model and advocate for debunking stereotypes around aesthetics and body image.  I'm chatting to Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix.

After one of her  training sessions at the Olympic Park in London, we chat about juggling her A levels as well as a full time diving career, and Andrea talks openly about the mental load and emotional fatigue associated with this pressure, and how she manages it.  We also open up the conversation around her extra studies (an EPQ), which is a personal choice to develop her own knowledge after the struggle with eating and body confidence especially within an aesthetic sport like diving.

She’s strong, she is empowering and everything I admire in an athlete. We also talk about Paris 2024 as the countdown is now on, and the home-field advantage and Andrea's mindset going into it.

S7 Ep5: Emily Cambell: On body Image and exclusion - "There are girls out there that are standard size that are made to feel massive"23 Apr 202300:30:00
This week on Monday Mile I link up with one of the strongest people I know, in fact she has deadlifted me before! The word inspiration is often banded around lightly but today I will be referencing the term and it’s not to be taken lightly. Emily Campbell, is Britain's most successful Weightlifter. She’s our Olympic Silver Medalist and the current European Champion. She’s a Northern lass that can snatch the weight of a baby elephant… casual eh?!

Emily is in town for a regular check in with the team Physio, so we hit the pavements in Covent Garden for a stroll. We chat about her passion for changing the way women feel about body image, her current work with Nike… and the mass drive for inclusion of women of all sizes. She also gives us an insight into life as an athlete, the reality of the physical work load and the ‘baseline of Doms’ .  She also shares the truth of not knowing what it's like "to not be in pain whilst sitting on the toilet" and "if I've not got something to hold onto, I'm not getting down there“ .

She shares her tips on confidence, “Once you look in the mirror and think damn I look good, it gives you the confidence to go out there and execute whatever you need to do” as well as stressing the importance in physical literacy - “There are girls out there that are standard size that are made to feel massive because the biggest size they can find on the shelf is a 14 or a 16”.

S7 Ep4: Tanya Franks and Scott Mitchell - Babs Army, Dementia prevention + the legacy of Barbara Windsor16 Apr 202300:35:03
Hello and Welcome to a new episode of the Monday Mile Podcast, this week’s guests are joining me in central London for a little stroll ahead of a very big race this upcoming weekend.

It’s the London Marathon, and today I am joined by Scott Mitchell, the husband of the late Dame Barbara Windsor and former Easterners actress Tanya Franks who are two of the pivotal "members" of Babs' Army. We link up on a beautiful sunny day in central London and discuss the  incredible work both Tanya and Scott have done in the fight against dementia, and of course their incredible running feats .

We chat about the highs of Marathon running, the training, and the  Babs' Army squad, as well as the mission they are on to raise £50,000 as they cross that finish line on the 23rd of April. Both Tanya and Scott share personal experiences with the disease, and expand on what it is, and how it has affected them both - Scott as a devoted husband and carer and the pressures associated with that, and Tanya talks about her experience sadly with her stepfather.

Tanya speaks openly about her mission to prevent the disease and shares some of the preventative steps that can be made to put a hold on the number 1 killer in the UK.

This week on the Monday Mile Podcast, we took a little train trip up to the North West.

Today’s guest is an MMA Fighter, and on the exterior, well certainly in the octagon, she’s tough, feisty and an absolute machine. She made her UFC debut in 2018, and along with her best mate Paddy Pimblett she is tearing up the sport and putting the UK on the global stage.  I'm in her home City of Liverpool and we get to meet the beautiful human behind that fighter's mask - it’s Molly McCann also known as, "Meatball Molly".

Molly takes us on a little tour of her home City, stopping off at some iconic sights around the City including the top of the BROW. The location where every great boxer has done sprints. We chat about her extremely passionate in -ring approach, the split sided personality, and her sensitive nature. From the Spinning Elbow, to the Rock calling out her success on Tik Tok, and re-naming the people’s elbow “The Meat-Bow”. Molly is only on the up. She’s humble and a role model to the next generation. She stopped to say hello to every passer-by that acknowledged her on our walk. She’s a people’s champion and is making a big impact in her home of Liverpool.   We chat about how she is using her platform built purely from her success in MMA, to invest money into the next generation with her Weapons Down Gloves Up Campaign.

We also chat about sexuality and how and why there’s still a cloud around “coming out”. We chat about the term gay, and how it can be used as a derogatory term, that alone the effect that can have on someone.  Molly  also shares her experience with homophobia and the challenges that she has overcome to be one of the Greats.

S7 Ep2: Caroline De Moreas: Real talk on life after pregnancy. 03 Apr 202300:38:11
This week on the  Monday Mile Podcast, we are joined by not one, but 2 special guests. It’s Caroline De More and Isabella. Caz is a BBC Broadcaster and has covered a wide series of events from Football focus, the EWC, The Olympic Games and most recently the Football World Cup out in Qatar. She’s extremely humble, she’s a polyglot (if you don’t know what that means…. she speaks 4 languages),and she is without a doubt one of the most underrated presenters in the industry. She joins me on a rather chilly day in Queen’s Park, London.

Caz is actually one of my best friends, so it’s a funny one interviewing her, however one thing we both love to do is chat. This Mile is a little different as we will be joined by her beautiful baby daughter Isabella to discuss life, routine and the challenges associated with being a freelancer and having a baby. We also discuss the associated stereotypes created….. and the affect it has on work.

We also chat about life after pregnancy, the things that people don’t talk about, as well as the things that people don’t tell you.  Hair loss, bleeding and much more of that glamorous stuff!! It’s real it’s raw and Caz is not slowing down. A total power mum who is embracing every moment of life with Isabella in tow.

S7 Ep1: “Paddy Mcguiness: Piggybacks, TV career choices and importance of mental health”26 Mar 202300:48:35
Today on Monday Mile we launch Series 7, with a man who’s kinda got the triple threat going on. He’s an actor, comedian and television presenter.

To you and I, he’s best known for his comedic persona and presenting shows such as Take Me Out, and one of my favourites BBC’s Top Gear, if you haven’t already guessed it’s Paddy McGuiness.

We take the Monday Mile podcast on a train trip up North to Macclesfield to meet Paddy at his local tea room, for a rather blustery and rainy hike at the Teggs Nose Country Park. I think it has to be one of our most adverse weather situations we have ever had on the mile, which resulted in a new pair of trousers bought in a charity shop for the ride home!

We tap into Paddy’s relationship with keeping active, and how important that is in helping him to find the balance and switch off when juggling being a Dad, and a multifaceted face of broadcast. He speaks openly about his recent documentary Our Family and Autism with BBC, and the difficulty in taking the first steps in opening up to the media in an attempt to help other parents going through the same process.

We chat about how that has impacted on his mental health and his own diagnosis of clinical depression. Paddy puts strong emphasis on the importance of speaking out and finding the right therapist for you.

We also discuss the importance of staying true and humble to his routes, just a lad from Bolton debunking the stereotype of men having to be the bread winner, and removing that mask of no emotion , no tears,. He leaves our listeners with some strong advice on how to manage and juggle criticism in the public eye, whether it be on social media, or in the Press and the importance of not being defined by one moment or a series of events. “It’s a little bit of fun in a moment in time that when we’re all dead, no one cares about it”.

Aimee will be probing for answers from the full spectrum of routines; the early birds who have finely tuned Monday mornings, to the late risers who struggle to get up before 11am. S6 Ep6: Lee Mckenzie "I can fall back on, I'm good at my job" 12 Feb 202300:49:45
Today on Monday Mile we head to Holland Park for a stroll with a lady who has been a pioneer in the Pitlane, becoming the first woman to take on the main anchor role in F1 on British TV - it is Lee McKenzie!

She’s worked across some of the most prestigious events in sport, Olympics , Paralympics , Wimbledon and the Rugby World Cup . She’s the consummate professional, one of the greats and delivers when it really counts even under pressure and streaming live into our living rooms.

We have a great conversation about what makes a good broadcaster.  We discuss whether journalism really deserves the paraphrase "dirty word" and as to whether broadcasters are out there to “nail someone to the masts”.  We also chat about how F1 is considered to be an elite profession, and how the athlete's attitudes towards the sport has influenced Lee's professionalism towards her job as a broadcaster - "success and failure is measured by a thousandth of a second" .

We discuss her relationship with the outdoors and the balance it brings, and how she juggles life on the road, broadcasting across multisport events and adapting to different time zones and prepping for one event whilst she’s still mid-broadcast at another. We also talk about the importance of being “good” at the job, and not focusing on what other people might think, and whether it’s true if you put everything into something it leaves no room for criticism. However, Lee does open up about trolling and the effects that can have on her relationship with body image. It’s a great listen, and as someone who is a role model to me, I really enjoyed this walk and talk with Lee.
