Frequency: 1 episode/16d. Total Eps: 48

On the Midnight Screening Podcast, co-hosts Eliza and Noah Janssen stay up past their bedtime to rot their brains with the very best (and the very worst) that genre cinema has to offer.
Whether it's comparing two films with some sort of tenuous connection on our double feature format episodes Twin Picks, diving deep into the the history of the genre with Midnight Marathons, or watching in awe/terror/confusion/annoyance at the biggest pieces of shit ever made in The Slop Bucket, there’s no film these creatures of the night aren’t ready to welcome into the family.
There's always time for one more movie...

Now Screaming: FINAL DESTINATION: BLOODLINES
Season 2 · Episode 59
dimanche 1 juin 2025 • Duration 01:16:34
the final destination franchise has always been part of our family…. da first horror series Noah n Eliza rlly fell in love with. and now, w the terrific sixth instalment in cinemas, family is truly the name of the game.. as well as degloved fingers, earnest Tony Todd monologues, paternity drama and dick piercings gettin yanked by freak MRI glitches !!
Final Destination: Bloodlines might just b the franchise’s most entertaining and conceptual entry yet, and we were ROCKD with excitement to see it in cinemas. after a brief chat about other sick horror stuff hitting theatres soon, the team gets right into their thoughts on the family funtime of Bloodlines - with a bigass Final Destination marathon looming in the near distance , no less….

Now Screaming: SINNERS + another film we definitely watched
Episode 57
jeudi 8 mai 2025 • Duration 01:07:55
Some movies bust da block.. others are just made out of …..blocks …..and um ..chicken jockeys. Turning their eyes wearily back to the big screen for the first Now Screaming ep in quite a while, Noah and Eliza deFiNeTeLy sAw A Minecraft Movie!!! yeEEsss!!! it’s almost like the blocks are an uncredited main character it’s almost like the chicken jockey was my dead wife the whole time !!!!
The release that gets our real attention is Ryan Coogler’s fiery genre mash-up Sinners, a Jim Crow-era vampire bash that strikes us with its impassioned ideas and ritzy IMAX storytelling. it’s good!! maybe the movies aren’t dead?? maybe like vampires they’ll just keep coming back for another chompe ??
SHOW NOTES:
Sorry that we lie at the very top of this episode! Due to scheduling changes, next week’s episode is the next edition of The Slop Bucket, and our Twin Picks ep with the wonderful Matt from Fright Fare is the week after!

Midnight Marathon: CHRISTMAS EVIL x SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT PART 2 // Season’s Screamingz Part 1
Episode 39
mardi 10 décembre 2024 • Duration 01:14:54
It’s the season for ho-ho-horror, and how are we meant to feel the festive spirit without watching some horrible nasty Christmas movies? Noah, Eliza and Anthony kick off a Christmas horror edition of Midnight Marathon with Christmas Evil (1980) and Silent Night Deadly Night Part 2 (1987) - two movies about an unhinged Santa taking their yuletide trauma out on those they deem ‘naughty’.
Thing is, the first movie is a bonafide cult classic, loved by John Waters and featuring a tremendous lead performance from Fiona Apple’s dad (??!!). The second movie is an insane feat of feature-film recycling, and one of the worst lead performances we’ve ever seen. GARBAGE DAY indeed.
The pairing goes down like a litre of rotten egg nog, and our mistletoe marathon is only just beginning. Scary Christmas to all and to all a good FRIGHT aaaaaaa

the boyband song that's about wet dreams
Episode 36
mardi 19 novembre 2024 • Duration 59:23
Do boybands dream of liquid babes? Forget wanting it that way and not knowing you’re beautiful: in our most treasured boyband fantasy, a Frankenstein’d monster gal comes to slippery, stinky life, and we’re done being silent about her. Eliza and Noah take Anthony on a troubling journey to O-Town, and the minor boyband’s most confounding hit, 2000’s ‘Liquid Dreams’. Its legend foretells of a dream girl with the body parts of various celebrities, so hot she makes the band shoot ropes in the middle of the night. Eugh.
We break down the lyrical description of the perfect woman, question how this was a real, charting pop song pitched at impressionable young girls, and appreciate somea those sweet sweet vocal riffs. It’s a pop song analysis that’ll follow you into your dreams…whether you’ve got a towel ready or not.

This Halloween, Noah + Eliza hosted a movie marathon of ANTHOLOGY HORROR, including the freshest entry in the V/H/S franchise plus classics like Tales From The Hood and Tales From The Crypt.

Midnight Marathon: HUSH... HUSH, SWEET CHARLOTTE x STRAIT JACKET // Hagsploitation! Part 2
Episode 31
dimanche 13 octobre 2024 • Duration 01:02:01
Whatever happened to Bette + Joan? In the second instalment of our deep dive into the HAGSPLOITATION horror subgenre, the Hollywood legends part ways to put their own spins on traumatised, middle-aged characters still stuck in their younger days. Bette gets Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte, a sentimental (and mental) Southern Gothic with a dream sequence that left us STUNNED: while Joan does Strait-Jacket, a far trashier B-movie that sees the highly-strung star lose her shit but not her dignity. Now in the middle of their genre investigation, Eliza and Noah stumble onto some big questions: like is Sweet Charlotte actually better than the OG Baby Jane? Does Joan kinda wanna fuck her son-in-law? And can we really reclaim the word ‘hag’ all these years later, or is the genre just a place where talented older women go to die?

~THE_MIRROR_NEVER_LIES ~ (sorry)
Episode 29
dimanche 29 septembre 2024 • Duration 42:55
its come to this....Noah and Eliza decide to lose their minds n bring all of u down with them, deconstructing a scene from the animated tv show Donkey Kong Country (?) about Donkey Kong being led to believe he's a crocodile pirate (??!!) through an R&B song-n-dance routine (???!!!!!!?!?!?!?!).
Here's the original video i guess ... the experience leaves everyone feeling utterly awful and empty, and so its satanic energy must b exorcised through the release of this podcast episode. it's within you now. YOU BE AS CROC AS THEY COME DONKEY CROC !!!

Midnight Marathon: GODZILLA VS MOTHRA x GODZILLA, MOTHRA AND KING GHIDORA: GIANT MONSTERS ALL OUT ATTACK feat. MIFF Audience Interviews! // Toho's Lil' Stompa Part 3
Episode 27
dimanche 15 septembre 2024 • Duration 01:00:05
We’re at the end of our Godzilluminating journey through the longest-running film franchise of all time!
Noah and Eliza are still reeling from the final hours of MIFF’s 700-minute-long Godzilla marathon, which ends with the 90s sweetness of Godzilla Vs. Mothra and then the hilariously-named Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack. As our fave kaiju stomps into a new century, do these entries capture the best of both worlds: the series’ sci-fi silliness and environmental themes, finally perfectly balanced?
Hear from more of the Astor’s exhausted guests, as well as news about Midnight Screening’s OC kaijus Swoopilla and Cobroo — we’re saying bye to Godzilla for now, but not forever, since that beefy boi is always popping back out of the Pacific when you least expect him…

Midnight Marathon: GODZILLA (1954) x DESTROY ALL MONSTERS feat. MIFF Audience Interviews! // Toho's Lil' Stompa Part 1
Episode 25
dimanche 1 septembre 2024 • Duration 01:08:23
Rawr means I love you in kaiju <3 and boy do we love Godzilla, that titan of Japanese B-Movie cinema who turns 70 this year !!! After being blasted by the atomic breath of MIFF’s 7-part Godzilla marathon, Eliza and Noah dive into the big boy’s legacy and changing status, from terrifying nuclear metaphor to goofy sci-fi hero and back again.
We begin with 1954’s black-and-white introduction to the character, before cheering on the epic kaiju silliness of 1968’s Destroy All Monsters, both directed by Ishirō Honda. Stay tuned for two more monstrous instalments, and some short interviews the team recorded with the Astor event’s Godzilla fans. Duuuuuun dun dun dun dun….dun dun…..dundundundun.
