Mat Leffler-Schulman: Focusing on the Big Picture With Audio

Mat is a producer, mixing, and mastering engineer, and co-owner of Mobtown Studios in Baltimore.
Mat has spent the better part of his life fascinated by recording and manipulating sound. Known as a “musician’s producer”, he’s a drummer, is analog synth-obsessed and takes great pride in his collection of theremins, vocoders and vintage tube gear.
He’s worked with an eclectic and diverse range of artists, including Future Islands (Thrill Jockey / 4AD), Waka Flocka Flame (Warner Bros.), Sun Club (ATO), Mark degli Antoni (David Byrne/Soul Coughing) and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

John Congleton: Making Records That Feel Authentic

John Congleton is an American Grammy Award-winning record producer, engineer, mixer, writer and musician who has worked with artists such as St. Vincent, Wallows, Everything Everything, Bully, Angel Olsen, Future Islands, The Decemberists, Goldfrapp, Sharon Van Etten and many, many more.
In addition to his production work, Congleton has fronted the alternative rock band the Paper Chase, and writes music for a newer project entitled the Nighty Nite. Frederic Archambault: Succeeding in the Music Business

Frederic Archambault is a Producer, Mixer, Songwriter, Musician and Engineer from Los Angeles, CA. He is best known for his work with Avenged Sevenfold lending his hand to production on their albums City Of Evil and Waking The Fallen. He has also worked with the likes of Atreyu, Deftones, Panic! At The Disco. He produces most of his projects at his home studio in Los Angeles called Studio 5A.
Most recently, Fred has completed production and mixing the music for the NBC TV Broadcast Last Call with Carson Daly. In the 7 years at Carson Daly he has worked on 100’s of artists from Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran, M-83 and Weezer to name a few. In that span of time it is estimated that he has mixed over 1500 songs for network broadcast. At the 2015 Pensado Awards, Fred won two awards: Excellence In Live or Front Of House Sound and Outstanding Achievement in Sound for Visual Medium for Last Call with Carson Daly.
Currently, Fred is the Manager for Audio Mastering operations for the Content Management Team at NBCUniversal. He oversees and supports a team responsible for global audio operations for all things TV and film.

Dave Schiffman: How to Rise up the Ranks as an Engineer

Grammy Winner and Multi–Platinum selling producer, mixer, and engineer came up the ranks as Rick Rubin’s engineer. Together they produced monster hits such as Red Hot Chili Peppers’ ‘Californication’, System Of A Down’s ‘Toxicity’, which reached # 1 on Billboard, certified double platinum, and earned multiple awards and nominations. They also produced ‘Hypnotize’ which once again hit Billboard #1 and led the band to be the first-ever rock outfit to have two #1 LPs in one year.
Dave’s production and mixes have topped the charts recently with The Strumbellas Hope from which the single ‘Spirits’ hit #1 on the Billboard Alternative charts, took home the Juno Award for Single of the Year (2016), received an iHeart Radio’s Best New Artist nomination, and won Much Music’s Best Alternative Video.
Dave produced Pup’s 2019 ‘Morbid Stuff’ which debuted #1 on multiple Billboard charts including Rock, Heatseekers, Alternative, and Independent Albums – it also landed at #14 on Billboard top 200 charts. The album went on to be shortlisted for the prestigious Canadian Juno Award for Album of The Year.
Dave has also worked on Smashing Pumpkins’ latest album CYR, The Killers’ critically acclaimed LP Imploding The Mirage, Grammy Award-winning album Father Of The Bride by Vampire Weekend, and Haim’s Days Are Gone, which reached #2 on both the Billboard top Rock and Alternative charts.

Jason Livermore: Recording Punk Music

Jason Livermore received his first snare drum at the age of three. Years later, Jason took up bass and guitar, but returned to drums because he liked them better. In junior high Jason discovered punk rock. His first vinyl purchase was the infamous, “Milo Goes to College”. He played in various bands throughout high school and college, recording some of these himself. After college, he decided that recording was probably going to be cooler than selling beer for Miller, his job at the time.
Upon hearing that ALL was opening the Blasting Room in 1994, he moved to Fort Collins to land the job of a lifetime. Jason has been working at the studio ever since and in 2015 he became co-owner alongside Bill Stevenson. He has worked on about 95% of the albums that have come out of the studio. Jason has also played drums for Wretch Like Me, Drag the River, Bill The Welder, Soul City Missionaries, and The Virginia Sisters.
