As the Pandav brothers started gaining name and fame, Duryodhan, Karn, Shakuni and Dushshaasan met to discuss a plan to tackle this growing challenge. Based on the plan worked out by them, Duryodhan went to his father asking for the Pandav brothers along with mother Kuntee to be sent to Vaarnaavat, a distant town. Dhrutraashtr did have any in-principle objections to the plan, but had his doubts about the practical aspects. Duryodhan cleared all the doubts of Dhrutraashtr and the latter agreed to do as per the conspiracy. A campaign was launched to build a good image of the town of Vaarnaavat. When Dhutraashtr felt that the Paandavs may be keen to go to Vaarnaavat, he softly suggested to the Paandavs to go there. Yuddhishthir accepted the suggestion seeing their helplessness. When the Pandavs and Kuntee were departing for Vaarnaavat, Vidur warned Yuddhishthir about the danger that was waiting for them there. (Mahabharat/Aadiparv/Jatugryh Parv/Chapters 140, 141, 142, 144). Guru Dron asked for a special guru Dakshina from Arjun seeking a promise that Arjun would not hesitate to even fight Guru Dron himself in a battlefield. Yuddhishthir was crowned as yuvraaj (crown prince) and started earning a lot of name and fame with his good behaviour. Bheem continued to develop his fighting skills under Balram. Arjun took up the task of getting various kings to behave. Arjun went in different directions and conquered many kingdoms. The glory of Pandavs made Dhrutraashtr a worried man. He called Kanik for advice. Kanik tutored Dhrutraashtr on practical morals of politics advising him to play dirty and crooked. Kanik also narrated the story of a jackal and four friends to explain his point more clearly. Kanik’s advice, which Dhrutraashtr tacitly agreed with, was to behave well with Pandavs and to kill them when an opportunity to do so arose. This episode marks the end of Sambhav Parv. Episode 13 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the birth of the eldest son and second son of Maharaj Paandu – Yudhishthir and Bheem. The chapter begins with describing Kaaneen son – someone born to one’s wife before marriage is Kaaneen son of the husband. Karn was Kaaneen son of Paandu. Having been barred from having sexual relations due to the curse of Muni Kindam, Paandu convinced his wife Kuntee to bear child with the help of some other man. Kuntee told her husband about Brahmin Durwaasaa who had taught her a special mantra by which she could call any devata who would come and bless her with a son. Paandu was extremely pleased. He asked her to call Dharmdev to get a son who will always follow dharm. Kunteed obeyed and thus Yudhishthir was born. For the next son, Paandu chose all-powerful Pawandev. This led to the birth of Bheem. When Bheem was only ten days old he fell on a large rock causing the rock to break into pieces. (Mahabharat/Aadiparv/Sambhav Parv/Chapter 119, 121 and 122). Episode 34 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla starts with a discussion about idol worship in Hindu religion. The conversation moves on with the return of Bharat to Ayodhya where he bids farewell to his mothers and moves to Nandigram where he is to stay for the next fourteen years as a forest-dweller. On the other hand, situation changes for Ram at Chitrakoot. The rishis at Chitrakoot decide to move out of Chitrakoot due to harassment from Khar, the younger brother of Raavan. Ram tries to stop the rishis, but fails to convince them. Ram decides to move out of Chitrakoot since the place now reminded him of meeting his brothers, mothers and other family members. Ram, Laxman and Sita go to the ashram of Rishi Atri where Rishi welcomed them with open arms. Rishi introduced his wife, Anusooya to them. Anusooya had a long talk with Sita, blessed her and gave to Sita clothes, ornaments etc. The next morning Ram, Sita and Laxman started their journey from the rishi’s ashram to the deep and dangerous forest. Episode 33 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla starts with a discussion about key defining features of aastik thought. Anil Chawla also explains the meanings of the words Hindu and Bharat. The conversation continues with discussing the attempt of Bharat to convince Ram to return to Ayodhya. Bharat has tried all the arguments that he could think of. As a last resort, he even threatens to sit on a dharna or sit-in-protest before the small hut where Ram was staying. Ram convinces him that such sit-in-protests are not appropriate for him. Exasperated, Bharat asks the people present to help him convince Ram. But the people see merit in Ram’s arguments and tell Bharat that they are unable to help him. At this point, the Rishis intervene. They tell Bharat to let Ram follow the path that he has chosen. Bharat is still not ready to give up. Ram uses the power of affection and love to get Bharat to agree. Bharat gets a pair of gold-studded footwear and asks Ram to wear it for a moment and return the pair to him. Bharat says that this pair of footwear will be put on the throne of Ayodhya and will be the king of Ayodhya. Bharat says that he will live in a nearby forest like a forest-dweller and oversee the kingdom but not as a king. Bharat seeks Ram’s permission for this arrangement. Ram has no option but to accept Bharat’s request. (Ref. Episode 32 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla starts with Bharat offering the kingdom of Ayodhya to Ram as a gift. Ram refuses to accept the gift. Bharat now pleads that the mistake of parents ought to be corrected by the son. Bharat argues that his mother Kaikeyee and their father Maharaj Dashrath had made a mistake which resulted in the present situation and it is the duty of Ram to correct the mistake now. Ram is not convinced. At this point the chief Brahmin of Ayodhya, Jabali tries to use arguments based on naastik (non-Hindu) thought to convince Ram to accept the coronation. Ram is furious with the naastik thought. Jabali withdraws saying that he is not a naastik but was trying the approach as a last resort to try to convince Ram. (Ref. Episode 31 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla starts with Bharat answering Ram’s long series of questions. Bharat pleads with Ram to accept coronation and return to Ayodhya as king. Ram refuses with convincing arguments. Bharat takes a different approach and requests Ram to return in the interest of the family and Ayodhya since their father is dead. The news of father’s death hits Ram very hard. He starts crying. Ram regains his composure and carries out the essential rituals of offering water and food to his departed father. Ram’s mothers, Guru Vasishth and others from Ayodhya also come to the hut where Ram, Sita and Laxman were staying. All of them spend the night mourning for the departed soul of Maharaj Dashrath. On the way Bharat meets Rishi Bhardwaj who welcomes him with caution and expresses doubts about Bharat’s journey. Bharat is heartbroken by the doubts. Bharat assures the Rishi that he is only going to Ram to get Ram crowned as the king of Ayodhya. Rishi is pleased. Rishi extends hospitality to the army and others accompanying Bharat. Episode 26 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla begins with describing the precautionary steps taken by Sumantr and Guh. Ram had begun his new life in the forest with brother and wife. During their first night in the forest, Ram became emotional remembering Ayodhya and all that had happened. Ram advised Laxman to go back to Ayodhya and take care of their mothers. Laxman, however, refused. The next day, they started travelling and by the evening reached the ashram of Rishi Bhardwaj. Rishi invited them to stay at his ashram. Ram refused the invitation and sought guidance from the Rishi about a good place in the forest where they could live for the next few years. Rishi advised them to go to Chitrakoot. Next day, they started their journey again and reached Chitrakoot after spending one night in the forest. In the meantime, Bharat along with the army and all key people of Ayodhya was on the way to meet Ram. Bharat reached the banks of river Ganga. Nishadraj Guh, friend of Ram, suspected that Bharat is on the way to kill Ram. Guh ordered his army on full alert and went to meet Bharat to investigate Bharat’s motive. Paandu decided to turn a tapaswee and give up all ornaments. His wives also promised that they would stay with him but would lead a life of abstinence. Living the life of an ascetic, Paandu developed good relations with various rishis. Once when Paandu was feeling sorry about having to die without a child, the rishis told him that they could see him being blessed with very good children. Kausalya is immersed in sorrow and is very harsh on him, blaming him for the departure of Ram, Laxman and Sita. Maharaj Dashrath begs her with folded hands to not hurt him anymore. He gets up in the middle of the night remembering his past mistake of killing a rishi who had come to the river to take water for his old parents. Maharaj Dashrath is extremely disturbed that his daughter-in-law is standing like a poor beggar woman. He orders for good clothes and ornaments to be brought for Sita. Though the ornaments that are brought are not the types that Sita would have liked, she puts them on. Kausalya loves it and embraces Sita. Kausalya preaches to Sita about duties of a wife. Sita says that she is well aware of her duties. Maharaj orders his chariot driver to take Ram, Lakshman and Sita to the border of the state and drop them to the point from where they can walk. As Ram departs in the chariot, Maharaj tries to follow him on foot and falls down. Kaikeyee comes forward to support him. At this point, Maharaj orders Kaikeyee to not touch him and declares that henceforth there will be no relations between them. (Ref. Episode 18 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla continues with the meeting where Maharaj Dashrath publicly meets Ram, Laxman and Sita. After the harsh words of Sumantr, Maharaj instructs Sumantr to order the army to move with Ram. He also orders for all women who earn livelihood by dancing and pleasing others to move. Further, he orders all traders, prominent men and women as well as sportspersons and many others to accompany the army. Royal treasury and wealth are also instructed to move. This infuriates Kaikeyee. She protests, but her protests are turned down. She quotes the example of an ancestor who had expelled his son. Siddharth, the minister, replies with clear facts about the circumstances that forced the ancestor to expel his son. Kaikeyee’s persistence with her protests infuriates Maharaj Dashrath who now declares his intention to move to the forest along with Ram. Ram now puts his foot down and refuses to take anyone along. He asks mother Kaikeyee to instruct her servants to bring old clothes that they could wear on the way to forest. Kaikeyee is excited and herself brings some used torn clothes. Ram and Laxman wear the clothes. Sita hesitates. Ram helps her wear the rags. Seeing Sita in shabby torn clothes infuriates everyone present. Everyone is in tears. Maharaj Dashrath is also extremely angry and sad at the same time. Ram retains his calm. As Ram bids farewell, he requests his father to take care of his mother Kaushalya while he is away. (Ref. Ram refused to obey his father’s order and declared his keen commitment and interest in going to the forest. Maharaj Dashrath pleaded with Ram to delay his departure by a day. But Ram refused even that and insisted on going the same day as promised to Kaikeyee. Everyone present was angry at Kaikeyee. Episode 11 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the birth of Kuntee’s first child fathered by Soorydev. In the palace of Kuntibhoj, Kuntee was assigned the job of welcoming guests. A Brahmin named Durwaasaa came to the palace. Kuntee took great care of the Brahmin. When he was leaving, he taught Kuntee a special mantra by which she could call any devata who would come and bless her with a son. After the departure of Durwaasaa, Kuntee got curious and called Soorydev. To her horror, Soorydev appeared and wanted to bless her with a son. She was not prepared to bear a child. However, Soorydev prevailed upon her and convinced her. He told her that the son born with their alliance will be born with a special shield and will have kundals in his ears. She conceded and was blessed with a son. Unable to face the world, she put the kid in a basket and put it on river. The basket was picked up by a saarthee named Adhirath who handed it over to his wife Raadhaa. They named the child as Vasushen and also called him Raadhey. The boy grew up to be brave and worshipper of sun. Much later, Devraaj Indr appeared as a Brahim and asked for Vasushen’s shield and kundals. Vasushen did not hesitate for a moment and pulled out his shield and kundals. Indr gave him the name of Karn. (Mahabharat/Aadiparv/Sambhav Parv/Chapter 110). Maharaj is a broken man. He is unable to speak. He only utters Ram’s name and keeps crying. Kaikeyee informs Ram about the promise made to him in the past by Maharaj. Ram is neither disturbed nor sad at the sudden development. He moves out of the room promising to depart the same day. Episode 10 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the weddings of Paandu and Vidur. Bheeshm had chosen Pruthaa (also called as Kunti) for King Paandu. Pruthaa was daughter of King Shoorsen and also of King Kuntibhoj. On receiving message from Bheeshm proposing marriage of Pruthaa with King Paandu, Kuntibhoj said that it is something to be decided by Pruthaa. Kuntibhoj arranged a swayamvar inviting all kings who had expressed interest in Pruthaa. When all the kings and princes collected for swayamvar, Pruthaa chose Paandu. Bheeshm also chose Maadree, the princess of Madr, for King Paandu. When he visited Madr the king of Madr had no objection to the marriage except that the king of Madr wanted a price in return for handing over his sister, Maadree. Bheeshm paid the price and got Maadree to Hastinaapur where she got married to Paandu. After the two weddings, Paandu had a short honeymoon of thirty nights and then moved out with his army to conquer the enemies of Hastinaapur. Paandu defeated all enemies and returned victorious with enormous amount of riches. After returning, he distributed the riches among his brothers and relatives. Paandu was interested in hunting. So, he moved to forests with his wives. He started roaming around hunting. Bheesm selected daughter of King Devak for Vidur and arranged the marriage. Episode 4 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla describes the story of Rishi Gautam and his wife, Ahilya. King of devtas, Indr, approached Ahilya and expresses his intention to make love to her. Indr is dressed as a muni. But that does not fool Ahilya. She recognises Indr. She is flattered by Indr’s interest in her. She consents to make love to Indr. The two indulge in sexual intercourse. After the act is over, both are pleased. Ahilya now tells Indr to go away quickly and save her from the anger of her husband. Indr tries to make a quick escape. But Rishi Gautam arrives and sees Indr. He understands what has transpired. He curses Indr of losing a body part. Rishi faces a dilemma as regards his wife whom he loves. The punishment that Rishi Gautam decides for Ahilya actually benefits her. She achieves the status of Rishi herself. Ram and Laxman recognise her new status and touch her feet. This is a story of deep love where one of the partners makes a mistake. The other partner gets to know of the mistake but the relationship withstands the incident and love grows stronger. The story has a happy ending. Rishi Gautam and Rishi Ahilya got together and lived happily ever after. (Ref. Episode 3 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla begins with a question about status of women at time of war. In modern wars, millions of women are killed or raped either during the war or after the war. During the war, both sides bomb civilian populations on the other side killing women and children. After the war, the victor army routinely kills and rapes women on the defeated side. Hinduism strictly prohibits killing of women. Past one thousand years have seen more women killed and raped than the previous two or three thousand years. Weakening of Hinduism has led to substantial deterioration of position of women across the world. Second part of the conversation relates to the war with Mareech and Subahu who used to disturb the activities at the ashram of Maharshi Vishwamitr. Ram, initially, thinks of only scaring away the gang led by Mareech. Ram was not inclined to kill anyone. He used a soft weapon on Mareech and threw him away into the ocean. Contrary to Ram’s calculations, rest of the gang did not run away. This infuriated Ram who used strong weapons and killed them all. The demons had been defeated and Maharshi was extremely happy. Episode 2 of the conversations related to Ram begins with Yogita Pant asking about the friendship between Guh, who apparently belonged to a lower caste, and Ram. Anil Chawla replies that Ram never thought in terms of caste. Ram actually got up from his seat, walked up to receive and welcome Guh. Ram accorded full affection and respect to Guh. The tendency to view people from a caste orientation is recent and is not present at any place in Shreemad Valmikiy Ramayan. Continuing from the previous episode, Anil Chawla describes how Ram and Laxman walked for about 15-20 km with Maharshi Vishwamitr. They received special knowledge of Bala and Atibala. Subsequently, Maharshi ordered them to kill Taatka, a woman who was daughter of Suketu and mother of Mareech. Ram hesitates about killing a woman since killing women is strictly forbidden. Maharshi explains that it is the duty of a king to protect his people and if it involves doing something cruel, the king must not hesitate and do his duty. Maharshi also quotes precedents about Indr killing a woman and also about Vishnu killing the wife of Rishi Bhrigu and mother of Shukracharay. Ram of Valmikiy Ramayan faces dilemmas, discusses with his family and friends, accepts guidance from learned men and suffers hardships. He always takes the right decisions and follows the path of dharm. This series of conversations is intended to help the viewers understand the personality of Ram. After understanding one can adopt Ram's ideals in one's own life and enrich one's life. Episode 1 begins with the difference between Ram from Valmiki Ramayan and Ram as described in Goswami Tulisdas’s Ramcharitmanas. In this context Anil Chawla describes how Ram of Valmiki is more human-like and suffers like any other human being. Ram also goes through dilemmas, conflicts and crisis like any human being does. In this context, Anil Chawla describes the way Ram remained hungry for two days and two nights as soon as he started from Ayodhya on his fourteen years exile in the forest. (Ref. Anil Chawla quotes from Chapters 18-21 of Baal Kand, Shreemad Valmikiy Ramayan. He describes how Maharshi Vishwamitr asked Maharaj Dashrath for giving him Ram to kill two danavs named Mareech and Subahu. Maharaj Dashrath was hesitant and even afraid of the two terrible danavs who were under Ravan’s protection. But, Ram showed no fear or hesitation.

Episode 9 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the events in Hastinaapur after birth of Dhrutraashtr, Paandu and Vidur. A period of stability and prosperity followed with the kingdom being taken care of by Bheeshm. The three boys were treated like his own sons by Gangaaputr. The three received the best education possible. After completion of education, Paandu was crowned as the king since Dhrutraashtr was blind and Vidur was a Brahmin. Next, Bheeshm thought of marriage of the three boys. He identified the right girls, discussed the matter with Vidur and started the process of getting the girls. Firstly, Bheeshm sent an emissary to Gandhaar asking for daughter of King Subal for Dhrutraashtr. Subal was shocked and did not want to marry his daughter to a blind. But he was helpless due to the power of Bheeshm. Keeping the interests of Gandhaar in mind, he consented. His daughter Gaandhaaree was also shocked but equally helpless. Episode 8 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the process which led to the birth of blind Dhrutraashtr, weak-bodied Paandu and intelligent Vidur. Satyavatee fixed up for Maharshi Dwaipayan Krishn to visit Ambikaa and copulate with her. Maharshi was looking terrible when he visited. His black ebony colour, entangled hairs, dirty beard, bad smell – combined to scare Ambikaa so much that she could not open her eyes. After coming out of her room, Maharshi informed Satyavatee that a blind prince will be born. She pleaded with Maharshi for one more child. Maharshi agreed. This time Ambaalikaa faced Maharshi. She was also scared. Due to fear, her body turned pale white as if all blood had been drained out of her. The result was a boy who was pale whitish yellow in colour. Satyavatee once again requested Maharshi for a child. He obliged. This time, Ambikaa played a trick and sent a beautiful maid servant in her place. The maid servant welcomed Maharshi and gave him all due respect and affection. Maharshi was pleased. He blessed the maid servant with a son who would be extremely intelligent and follower of dharm. Episode 7 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the events after Gangaaputr Bheeshm kidnapped three daughters of King of Kaashi and brought them to Hastinapur for King Vichitrveery. As preparations started for marriage of the three girls to Vichitrveery, the eldest daughter Ambaa said that she had already chosen King Shaalv as her husband and her father also knew of it. The matter was put before the learned men who had gathered for the marriage. The learned men decided that it would be proper to send Princess Ambaa to King Shaalv. The other two daughters, Ambikaa and Ambaalikaa, were married to Vichitrveery. After seven years of marriage, Vichitrveery died without an offspring. This was a crisis for the kingdom. Satyavatee asked Bheeshm to take over the kingdom and to give birth to children with the widows of Vichitrveery. Bheeshm refused and suggested that the job be assigned to a learned Brahmin. Satyvatee called Maharshi Ved Vyas who said that the women have to undergo a purification process for one year. Satyvatee was impatient and asked Maharshi to do it immediately. Episode 6 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the events after marriage of Emperor Shantanu and Satyavatee. The couple was blessed with two sons – Chitraangad and Vichitrveery. Shantanu died when the younger son was still a small kid. Chitraangad became king. He was extremely arrogant. One day he was challenged by a gandharv named Chitraangad. The two fought for a long time and King Chitraangad was killed. Even though Vichitrveery was a kid, he was crowned as king with Bheeshm looking after the royal duties. In due course, Vichitrveery grew and reached marriageable age. There were no marriage proposals coming for him. King of Kaashi had held a swayamvar for his three daughters. Bheeshm went to Kaashi and kidnapped the three girls challenging all present kings for a fight. The kings attacked Bheeshm, but were no match for him. Shantanu was around seventy years old when he saw young and beautiful Satyavatee. Shantanu fell for her and approached her father to ask for her in marriage. Her father, Nishaadraaj, demanded a promise that Satyavatee’s son would become the king after Shantanu. This was a difficult promise for Shantanu since it involved robbing Gangaputr of his legitimate right. Shantanu became sad and dejected due to his unfulfilled desire to marry Satyavatee. After the princes had finished their education, Guru Dron asked them to bring King Drupad as a prisoner as guru Dakshina. Duryodhan, his brothers, friends including Karn rushed to attack along with the army of Hastinapur. They were ill-prepared and had no strategy. They came under severe attack with the residents of the capital joining the defending army. Pandavs under the leadership of Arjun decided to let the Kauravs go first. Arjun planned out his strategy. He asked Yuddhishthir to wait near Guru Dron. Arjun decided that he would be on a chariot with Nakul and Sehdev defending the wheels of the chariot. Bheem was to go on foot and enter the enemy army. Duryodhan, Karn and the army accompanying them were beaten badly. As soon as the news of their fleeing came, Arjun and brothers started the attack. After a fierce battle, Arjun captured Drupad and presented him to his guru. Guru Dron treated Drupad most respectfully, returned half the kingdom to Drupad and asked for friendship. Episode 3 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla describes the events leading to the birth of Devvrat or Gangadutt or Bheeshm. The story starts in heaven with King Mahabhish looking at the body of Devee Ganga. King Mahabhish is cursed to go to earth. He decides to take birth as son of King Prateep. Eight vasus are expelled from heaven. They request Ganga to bear them as her sons. She agrees to kill first seven of her sons as soon as they are born. She tells the vasus that the eighth son will live. In due course, Ganga marries King Shantanu, son of King Prateep. She throws her first seven sons into water. Episode 2 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla describes the series of events leading to the birth of Dwaipayan Krishn who was later called as Ved Vyas. There was a king named Uparichar son of Paurav who was king of Chedidesh. King Uparichar was blessed by Devraaj Indr. Girikaa was the daughter of a mountain named Kolaahal and a river named Shuktimatee. Uparichar had married Girikaa and wanted to mate with her. However, by a strange turn of events the king’s semen fell in Yamuna River where it was ingested by a fish. In due course, the fish was caught by fishermen. On cutting the fish, two children (a boy and a girl) were found. The girl had a strong smell of fish. The king handed over the girl to Daashraaj, the king of fishermen. The girl was named Matsyagandha, but was later called Satyavatee. She was a beautiful girl and used to row a boat. Once a rishi named Parashar sat in her boat. The mating of Rishi Parashar with Satyavatee led to a child being born immediately after the intercourse. The kid was dark skinned and hence was called Krishn. He was left on an island in Yamuna and was hence called Dwaipayan. The kid was born with extraordinary abilities. He knew the Vedas at the time of birth and wanted to do tapasya immediately after birth. (Mahabharat/Aadiparv/Anshaavtarn Parv/Chapter 61 and 63). Production support: Friends and well-wishers. *** महाभारत और वाल्मीकि रामायण हिन्दू धर्म के दो मूलभूत आधार ग्रन्थ हैं। रामायण में राम के जीवन का वर्णन किया गया है। इसके विपरीत महाभारत किसी एक व्यक्ति के जीवन पर केंद्रित नहीं है। द्वैपायन कृष्ण, जिन्हें महर्षि वेद व्यास भी कहा जाता है, तथा वासुदेव कृष्ण (जिन्हें मुरलीधर, गिरिधर, गोपाल, गोविन्द, माधव इत्यादि अनेक नामों से जाना जाता है) महाभारत के सूत्रधार भी हैं और आत्मा भी। बाहरी रूप से महाभारत कुरु राजवंश में पाण्डुपुत्रों (पांडवों) और धृतराष्ट्रपुत्रों (कौरवों) के संघर्ष की कथा प्रतीत होती है। पर महाभारत एक परिवार की आपसी कलह से कहीं बड़ा है। यह ज्ञान का एक ऐसा विशाल भण्डार है जो जीवन के हर पहलू के सम्बन्ध में शिक्षा प्रदान करता है। इसमें जो संघर्ष है वह भिन्न भिन्न जीवन मूल्यों का द्वन्द्व है। जिन मूलभूत मूल्यों एवं आदर्शों के लिए राम ने रावण से युद्ध किया, उन्हीं को स्थापित करने और सशक्त करने के लिए द्वैपायन कृष्ण और वासुदेव कृष्ण भी अथक अनवरत प्रयास करते हैं। उनके इन प्रयासों की कथा ही महाभारत है। इस कथा को जान कर, समझ कर और उससे प्राप्त शिक्षा को आचरण में उतार कर हम अपने जीवन को सुखद एवं समृद्ध बना सकते हैं। समस्त सुधीजनों को अनेकानेक शुभकामनाओं के साथ यह श्रृंखला "महाभारत का महापर्व" विनम्रतापूर्वक समर्पित है। Mahabharat and Valmiki Ramayan are the two fundamental foundation epics of Hinduism. Ramayan describes the life of Ram, while Mahabharat is not focused on the life of any one person. Dwaipaayan Krishn, who is also called Maharshi Ved Vyas, and Vaasudev Krishn (also called Muralidhar, Giridhar, Gopal, Govind, Madhav etc.) are the soul of Mahabharat and hold all the strings of the story. On surface, it appears that Mahabharat is the story of the family feud within Kuru royal family between sons of Pandu (Pandav) and sons of Dhrutraashtr (Kaurav). But Mahabharat is certainly much bigger than a family feud. This epic is a vast storehouse of knowledge that teaches one about every aspect of life. The struggle in the epic is the clash between two different life-values. Dwaipaayan Krishn and Vaasudev Krishn put in relentless and continuous efforts to establish and strengthen the same fundamental values and ideals for which Ram fought the war against Raavan. Mahabharat is the story of their efforts. By learning and understanding this story and by adopting the learnings into our behaviour we can make our life happy and rich.
