Episode 23 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the departure of Pandav brothers with their mother Kuntee from Hastinapur under order of Dhrutraashtr. As the Pandav brothers started gaining name and fame, Duryodhan, Karn, Shakuni and Dushshaasan met to discuss a plan to tackle this growing challenge. Based on the plan worked out by them, Duryodhan went to his father asking for the Pandav brothers along with mother Kuntee to be sent to Vaarnaavat, a distant town. Dhrutraashtr did have any in-principle objections to the plan, but had his doubts about the practical aspects. Duryodhan cleared all the doubts of Dhrutraashtr and the latter agreed to do as per the conspiracy. A campaign was launched to build a good image of the town of Vaarnaavat. When Dhutraashtr felt that the Paandavs may be keen to go to Vaarnaavat, he softly suggested to the Paandavs to go there. Yuddhishthir accepted the suggestion seeing their helplessness. When the Pandavs and Kuntee were departing for Vaarnaavat, Vidur warned Yuddhishthir about the danger that was waiting for them there. Episode 22 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the developments in Hastinapur after the princes returned on completing their education. Guru Dron asked for a special guru Dakshina from Arjun seeking a promise that Arjun would not hesitate to even fight Guru Dron himself in a battlefield. Yuddhishthir was crowned as yuvraaj (crown prince) and started earning a lot of name and fame with his good behaviour. Bheem continued to develop his fighting skills under Balram. Arjun took up the task of getting various kings to behave. Arjun went in different directions and conquered many kingdoms. The glory of Pandavs made Dhrutraashtr a worried man. He called Kanik for advice. Kanik tutored Dhrutraashtr on practical morals of politics advising him to play dirty and crooked. Kanik also narrated the story of a jackal and four friends to explain his point more clearly. Kanik’s advice, which Dhrutraashtr tacitly agreed with, was to behave well with Pandavs and to kill them when an opportunity to do so arose. This episode marks the end of Sambhav Parv. (Mahabharat/Aadiparv/Sambhav Parv/Chapters 138-139).

Episode 13 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the birth of the eldest son and second son of Maharaj Paandu – Yudhishthir and Bheem. The chapter begins with describing Kaaneen son – someone born to one’s wife before marriage is Kaaneen son of the husband. Karn was Kaaneen son of Paandu. Having been barred from having sexual relations due to the curse of Muni Kindam, Paandu convinced his wife Kuntee to bear child with the help of some other man. Kuntee told her husband about Brahmin Durwaasaa who had taught her a special mantra by which she could call any devata who would come and bless her with a son. Paandu was extremely pleased. He asked her to call Dharmdev to get a son who will always follow dharm. Kunteed obeyed and thus Yudhishthir was born. For the next son, Paandu chose all-powerful Pawandev. This led to the birth of Bheem. When Bheem was only ten days old he fell on a large rock causing the rock to break into pieces. (Mahabharat/Aadiparv/Sambhav Parv/Chapter 119, 121 and 122).

Episode 34 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla starts with a discussion about idol worship in Hindu religion. The conversation moves on with the return of Bharat to Ayodhya where he bids farewell to his mothers and moves to Nandigram where he is to stay for the next fourteen years as a forest-dweller. On the other hand, situation changes for Ram at Chitrakoot. The rishis at Chitrakoot decide to move out of Chitrakoot due to harassment from Khar, the younger brother of Raavan. Ram tries to stop the rishis, but fails to convince them. Ram decides to move out of Chitrakoot since the place now reminded him of meeting his brothers, mothers and other family members. Ram, Laxman and Sita go to the ashram of Rishi Atri where Rishi welcomed them with open arms. Rishi introduced his wife, Anusooya to them. Anusooya had a long talk with Sita, blessed her and gave to Sita clothes, ornaments etc. The next morning Ram, Sita and Laxman started their journey from the rishi’s ashram to the deep and dangerous forest. Episode 33 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla starts with a discussion about key defining features of aastik thought. Anil Chawla also explains the meanings of the words Hindu and Bharat. The conversation continues with discussing the attempt of Bharat to convince Ram to return to Ayodhya. Bharat has tried all the arguments that he could think of. As a last resort, he even threatens to sit on a dharna or sit-in-protest before the small hut where Ram was staying. Ram convinces him that such sit-in-protests are not appropriate for him. Exasperated, Bharat asks the people present to help him convince Ram. But the people see merit in Ram’s arguments and tell Bharat that they are unable to help him. At this point, the Rishis intervene. They tell Bharat to let Ram follow the path that he has chosen. Bharat is still not ready to give up. Ram uses the power of affection and love to get Bharat to agree. Bharat gets a pair of gold-studded footwear and asks Ram to wear it for a moment and return the pair to him. Bharat says that this pair of footwear will be put on the throne of Ayodhya and will be the king of Ayodhya. Bharat says that he will live in a nearby forest like a forest-dweller and oversee the kingdom but not as a king. Bharat seeks Ram’s permission for this arrangement. Ram has no option but to accept Bharat’s request. (Ref. Chapters 110, 111 and 112 Ayodhya Kand, Shreemad Valmikiy Ramayan)

Episode 32 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla starts with Bharat offering the kingdom of Ayodhya to Ram as a gift. Ram refuses to accept the gift. Bharat now pleads that the mistake of parents ought to be corrected by the son. Bharat argues that his mother Kaikeyee and their father Maharaj Dashrath had made a mistake which resulted in the present situation and it is the duty of Ram to correct the mistake now. Ram is not convinced. At this point the chief Brahmin of Ayodhya, Jabali tries to use arguments based on naastik (non-Hindu) thought to convince Ram to accept the coronation. Ram is furious with the naastik thought. Jabali withdraws saying that he is not a naastik but was trying the approach as a last resort to try to convince Ram. (Ref. Episode 31 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla starts with Bharat answering Ram’s long series of questions. Bharat pleads with Ram to accept coronation and return to Ayodhya as king. Ram refuses with convincing arguments. Bharat takes a different approach and requests Ram to return in the interest of the family and Ayodhya since their father is dead. The news of father’s death hits Ram very hard. He starts crying. Ram regains his composure and carries out the essential rituals of offering water and food to his departed father. Ram’s mothers, Guru Vasishth and others from Ayodhya also come to the hut where Ram, Sita and Laxman were staying. All of them spend the night mourning for the departed soul of Maharaj Dashrath. Ram begins by asking Bharat about everyone at Ayodhya including father Maharaj Dashrath, Guru Vasishth, mothers, learned men etc. Ram is curious to know how Ayodhya is being governed.
