Karen Thomas’ near death experience occurred July 7, 1982 in Anchorage, Alaska where she had been working as a physical therapist. She injured her back and was scheduled for what would be her second back surgery. Concerned that this surgery may need to include a spinal fusion which could be a career-ending situation, Karen asked friends and family to pray for her on the day of her surgery. During surgery, Karen’s left common iliac artery was cut and she bled out on the operating room table. Today Karen is dedicated to telling her story of what took place during her near death experience. Karen has been a speaker for the IANDS Durham, North Carolina Group and her written story can be seen at IANDS.org under the title Prayers Like Musical Notes. Author of "The Near-Death Saga' book series Lura Ketchledge has garnered much acclaim appearing on CBS, ABC, Fox and NBC news. Doing her best writing on her Kentucky horse farm, Lura delights her readers by transporting them back in time where a ghostly presence launches a flurry of urgent messages cloaked in a murder mystery of a page- turning paranormal romance. Valerie Johnson was nearly killed when her car went over an embankment after a night of drinking. In the operating room, her soul left her body and floated above it, witnessing the doctors working to save her life.
