Inside The Perimenopause Journal
Season 3 · Episode 116
mardi 10 septembre 2024 • Duration 49:11
Celebrating the publication of The perimenopause Journal: Unlock your power, Own your wellbeing, Find your path which is now available in the UK. It'll be in the U.S. and Canada in October and Australia and N.Z. before Christmas.
My dear friend and colleague in kindness, Leora Leboff agreed to interview me. If you don’t yet know her, once you do, it’s hard not to love her. You can find her online on IG at @leoraleboff and we have worked together creating menstrual and menopause-related retreats, workshops and our online course Perimenopause Unwrapped, since 2014. This is not your average author interview it’s the absolute lowdown on the Journal and everything that it offers.
The Perimenopause Journal is a gorgeously illustrated, 52-week, undated journal that supports you to refine a bespoke self-care plan to ease you through your perimenopause and into a vibrant postmenopausal life. It makes a beautiful gift for a dear friend
It shows how understanding your ‘inner seasons ‘ is a fast track to self-compassion:
· gives you prompts and inquiries for appropriate self-care,
· charts to track your energy with the moon phases, and
· guided meditations to access rest and calm.
· Each month there is space for reflection and intention setting to focus on small, do-able changes in your life, to ease your symptoms, access your power and find your path.
It makes a beautiful gift for a dear friend
There is also a competition, for UK folk only I’m afraid, to win a signed copy of The Perimenopause Journal and Second Spring. All you need do is answer this question correctly:
Who coined the phrase: menopause it’s an inside job?
You can email your answers to hello@katecodrington.co.uk with your uk postal address, the winner will be contacted on 30th September. If you already have a copy, and I hope you have ordered one, I can write a dedication so you can gift either one to a friend. Just let me know their name. First correct answer out of the hat wins the books!

Inside Letting Go with Lottie Randomly
Season 1 · Episode 11
mercredi 21 avril 2021 • Duration 53:49
We can be active and productive and acquire and acquire but if we don’t let go, things get seriously toxic. On all levels. And it’s not something we’re very good at.
This is a soulful, sweet meandering conversation in which we cover all kinds of letting go. As well as death, there’s funerals, loss, hope, the menstrual cycle and what that teaches us about letting go, compost, menopause, grieving in covid times… all the best taboo topics.
Lottie wears loads of different hats, they're a celebrant, a creator of queer-centred cycle magic, an educator and facilitator, a coach and animist, a walker-between-worlds who’s also worked in mainstream mental health for a long time. I came across them on Instagram where you can find their heartfelt, thoughtful posts at @know.your.cycle
Together we explore:
- Lottie’s journey to becoming a celebrant
- The healing possibilities of funerals
- The ingredients for a really good funeral
- How funerals can connect us back to our communities and hope
- The connection between death and the menstrual cycle
- The potential of the menstrual cycle to practice letting go
- Rituals and practices that help with this
- The menstrual cycle as a magical framework for change
- Pondering menopause and how to throw a party to say goodbye to menstruation
- How to celebrate the life of a loved one while we’re in a pandemic
- The importance of giving permission to ourselves to feel grief and allow it in other
- Progressive ways of disposing
- Bokashi composting
- And how to grow the best courgettes
Though they really didn’t want to, I squeezed Lottie till they let out a fabulous top tip too.

Inside Creative Process with Anne Tannam
Season 1 · Episode 10
mercredi 14 avril 2021 • Duration 52:27
I am just fascinated by creative process, almost to the point of obsession, because making things whether it’s visual art, textiles or writing is one of the most important things in my life. It makes me VERY happy. I feel like myself. So I was excited when Anne Tannam agreed to do a pod chat because not only is she a fabulous poet, but she also coaches people to harness their own creativity in business, work and life. So she can do it, and, which is fabulous for us, she can tell us how to do it too! Or actually, give us ways of finding out for ourselves.
It took Anne 40 years to start writing and I am so glad she did the author of two wonderful poetry collections, with a third ‘Twenty-six Letters of a New Alphabet’ forthcoming from Salmon Poetry later in 2021.
Whether you feel that you have zero creativity, or are an established artist. Whatever sort of things you’re interested in making or writing, this episode will improve your life.
Anne tells us:
- How to manage our fears around creative process
- How to manage the inner critics that stop or limit our creativity
- Anne’s journey with her creative process
- How to find your voice
- Developing confidence and feeling our work is good-enough
- Why women especially struggle with creative confidence
- The magic of building a tribe to support your creative process
- How creativity is an essential part of being human and how if it’s blocked it impacts the rest of our lives
- The ingredients for a vibrant creative process
- The value of making mistakes
- The value of an intermediary to protect the creator
- How to make the time for the magic to happen
- What to do if you don’t know what medium to use
How to square our creativity with financial returns
Along with a side helping of Anne’s best tip of a vibrant creative life.

Inside Sensual Pleasure with Mangala Holland
Season 1 · Episode 9
mercredi 7 avril 2021 • Duration 53:43
I was excited to listen in to Mangala Holland’s wisdom because she knows a lot about pleasure and how to support people to find more of it in their lives in a way that is not about looking sexy for other people.
No surprises then, that there is some explicit language in this episode.
Mangala is a Women’s Empowerment and Sexuality coach, and facilitator. She describes herself as being on a mission to help pussy-owners become empowered through loving themselves fiercely, celebrating their sexuality, and overcoming the fear, guilt and shame that keeps them playing small.
What I love is that Mangala has a beautiful no-bullshit, fluff-free, grounded, dogma-free style. In this episode we discuss:
- How we can be confident in our sexuality, especially when we’ve been brought up in a culture of shame
- How to move from numbness to pleasure
- Mangala’s journey to an authentic, flowing expression of sexuality
- Why ‘shoving things up there’ from jade eggs to performance enhancers can create more trauma and block pleasure
- How sexual trauma can be played out in ‘healing’ groups, re-traumatising and shaming those who don’t perform as required
- How to check-in with yourself and thaw out the numbness
- How to check for a ‘yes’ before doing anything downstairs
- How sexual problems are more likely to be to do with having a too-tight pelvic floor than too loose
- How to build embodied awareness in your genital area and pelvic floor
- The toxic power dynamics and abuse present in some tantra organisations
- The problem with selling ‘empowerment’
- How to tell if a training is safe
- Moving away from the ‘male gaze’ to feel how we are from the inside
- And what happens when you are with another body trying to find pleasure
Along with lots more hot stuff and, of course, Mangala’s top tip for increasing pleasure in your life.
You can find Mangala's website and online program here
To find support if you have experienced abuse in an embodiment, tantra or yoga class or workshop have a look at the Yoni Shaki Movement or Tantra Not Trauma Facebook group.

Inside Chronic Pain with Leora Leboff
Season 1 · Episode 8
dimanche 28 mars 2021 • Duration 50:00
I couldn’t get started with this podcast series without talking to my dear partner in Woman Kind, Leora Leboff. Leora is not only my partner at work but also a very dear friend and an awesome human. I learn so much from being around her.
She’s been a therapist for more than a quarter of a century, practising and teaching womb massage, EFT, aromatherapy and Medicine Circles. Mostly focusing on women’s health.
One of the most impressive people I know, and you’ll get why when you listen to our intimate, totally up-front conversation. You will be amazed to find that we’re not talking perimenopause or periods, but about the other health challenges that Leora has been facing over the last few years and how she manages chronic pain.
Leora shares about:
- How she manages chronic pain
- All about syringomyelia, a rare and little understood condition
- How Leora manages other people’s reactions to her condition
- How she grounds herself into her body Leora’s secret bullshit-ometer (aka discernment) and how that works
- How she maintains integrity and safety in her work
- What this inner wisdom business is, exactly, and how she uses it to guide her
And of course, Leora's top tip for a fabulously creative and healthy life.
You can find out more about Leora on her website and the Woman Kind site

Inside Identity with Angie Litvinoff
Season 1 · Episode 7
jeudi 18 mars 2021 • Duration 54:56
I wanted to have a conversation with Angie Litvinoff because she is an inspired healer. She’s a medicine woman, creator of ceremonies and rites of passage and a mentor who is utterly grounded. Very often people who reach her level of teaching and visibility are full of smoke and mirrors, pretence and ego, but Angie makes finding identity so simple and straight-forward and DO able. This translates into a highly effective transformation program and her Online Calm pack: from anxiety to delivery which helps creatives find their true identity and voice.
There is some explicit language in this podcast, so if that’s not your thing, you may prefer to listen to a different episode.
We talk about:
- Finding our own identity by keeping it real and ditching the mysticism.
- The difference between what we want and what we need and how to know which is which.
- Angie’s simple way to develop a sense of oneness that transcends the ideology, and our longing for approval.
- Angie’s journey into wholeness from Chile to Tring via Notting Hill.
- Angie demystifies Shamanism and shows how it can support us every day and how she owned and defined her own identity.
- How to take back control and be accountable for our actions.
- How, by getting addicted to the highs of transformational experiences we avoid taking responsibility for our own process and self-care.
- How we don’t need appropriate someone else’s culture to find healing, because the healing power of the land is right here.
- The magic of the subtle energy of staying still for long enough.
- The impact of racism on Angie and her family.
And of course Angie’s clever practice to identify your own route to finding your creative identity.

Inside Consciousness with John Stirk
Season 1 · Episode 5
dimanche 31 janvier 2021 • Duration 49:54
This episode is a mind-expanding stonker of a conversation with yoga teacher John Stirk. If you've ever meditated (or tried to) if you work with mind-body healing or have been to a yoga class, this is going to be fascinating.
If you’ve not come across him, John has been very influential in the yoga world. He started teaching yoga in 1974, and graduated as an osteopath in 1988, later becoming a fellow of the College of Osteopaths. He ran BodyMind workshops with R.D. Lang. and as well as being influenced by BKS Iyengar and Krishnamurti, also had personal tuition from Vanda Scaravelli. Ceasing osteopathy practice in 2000, John now focusses exclusively on group work. He’s recently published his fourth book ‘Deeper Still’ showing how we can find our inner teacher and all make this journey from sensation into expanded consciousness.
I’m your average, sometime-meditator, constantly distracted and no matter how much I long for peace, it is extremely elusive. Except in John’s classes, where almost nothing happens, with only tiny movements, but by the end, I find myself in an extraordinary, expanded state. I wanted to ask John why this was, how even a crazy-head-maginty like me, can reach a state of quiet bliss through sensing into the body.
We cover:
- What consciousness is
- The Self and ego
- The role of the skin in unifying the ego
- How to calm our minds
- How space can be our friend and connect and unifies us
Mind. Blown.
