One of the greatest paradoxes as an artist is finding the will and way to sustain yourself all while keeping that dream alive. While I do think there's a place for manifestation and unbridled optimism when it comes to art, I see so many folks become discouraged or misguided by a belief that creation in itself will bring them immediate success. Holding a day job isn't about putting your art in the backseat, it's understanding that in order to create to your highest capacity, you have to take care of you first, especially in a generally hostile atmosphere monetarily speaking for the bulk of working artists in today's day and age. The Joshua Citarella interview of Matty Healy on the Doomscroll podcast was particularly delightful to someone who has long loved The 1975 and holds a position of resident doomer. This essay had me pondering quite a bit about who's allowed to create and enjoy art, afford basic securities, and how that relates to how we present ourselves digitally. As more of us become creators and being online become more ubiquitous, I'm kind of worried about the effectiveness of rage baiting and how we reward certain behaviors algorithmically. Authenticity in entertainment has always been interesting, but especially so when we're all aware a couple of million views could be the block between you and money. On a personal level, I think the shifting dynamics of advertising, storytelling, and where we place our virtues is fascinating! HAPPY BRAT DAY TO ALL THOSE WHO CELEBRATE! Von Dutch + Club Classics are absolutely on repeat, 360 is the daily prayer-- I finally have succumbed to the world of CharliXCX and wow this album has very much sold me-- Charli occupies a unique space in the pop landscape where she has larger, mainstream leverage while still maintaining her native sense of experimentation. 

While some may feel left out of the music, I think her strength lies in creating music for a very specific audience, using her well-earned respect to bring up unseen voices along the way.

Airbnb Icons just dropped and I am fascinated! Between Shrek's Swamp, the Barbie Mansion, the UP House, and Doja Cat there is a surprising array of experiences. While I don't take issue with most of these experiences, I think it's a great vehicle to discuss housing as entertainment, almost like the Mr.Beastification of a territory that should ideally be a human right. Same goes for the likes of AD tours, Selling Sunset, etc., which I admittedly very much enjoy! The corporatization of housing is nothing new, but it has drastically increased over the past two decades and so many are feeling the heat.
