In this episode of An Atheist Reads the Bible, we’re diving into Genesis 5-9, where things get a little wild—and a lot weird. We kick off with a genealogy of people who apparently lived for centuries (because that’s totally believable), before moving into the flood story. God decides He’s had enough of humanity and hits the ultimate reset button with Noah, a massive boat, and two of every animal—including mosquitoes, for some reason. From giants roaming the earth to God’s sudden case of regret, these chapters are packed with contradictions, impossible logistics, and plenty of eyebrow-raising moments. I’ve been around Christianity my whole life. I was raised in the church. I was devoted to God. I brought my bible to school and work. I truly believed in my heart that I knew Jesus. But now, I don’t think that was ever really the case.

That doesn’t mean that I was never a true Christian. That just means that now I believe the Christian God doesn’t exist. Now, as an outspoken atheist, I come across many Christians every day who tell me that I’m wrong. When I ask why they believe in God, I get a flurry of reasons, and I don’t think that most of them are good reasons.
