We explore the confusing origins of Cain’s mysterious wife, Lamech’s disturbing boasts of revenge, and the growing questions about morality, justice, and population gaps in the early Bible. In this episode of An Atheist Reads the Bible, we’re diving into Genesis 5-9, where things get a little wild—and a lot weird. We kick off with a genealogy of people who apparently lived for centuries (because that’s totally believable), before moving into the flood story. God decides He’s had enough of humanity and hits the ultimate reset button with Noah, a massive boat, and two of every animal—including mosquitoes, for some reason. From giants roaming the earth to God’s sudden case of regret, these chapters are packed with contradictions, impossible logistics, and plenty of eyebrow-raising moments. Let’s dig in and see if this global flood story holds water—or sinks under scrutiny.
