Finally, remember. Clean energy isn't just good for the planet, it's good for your wallet. Solar and wind are now the cheapest power sources in history. But too many politicians would rather protect billionaires than help working families save on their bills. Real change starts when we stop allowing the ultra - rich to write our energy policy and run our government. Let's choose affordable, renewable power. Clean energy means lower costs, more freedom, and a planet that can actually breathe.

ALBUM PINS ARE CHANGING THE WAY WE HEAR CELTIC MUSICI got an email from Discmakers, my CD manufacturer, saying they were forced to raise their prices because of tariffs by our president. This is a tax on Americans. So if you love CDs, remember that the prices will go up. So please support those higher priced CDs.
But there is an option for those who don't want to buy CDs and for those who want a better alternative for the environment. It's the Album Pin.
Album Pins are lapel pins themed to a particular album. You get a digital download of the album. Then you can wear your album. All of my latest Album Pins are wood - burned and locally produced. This makes them better for the environment. And they are fun and fashionable. If you want to learn more about Album Pins, you can read more about them on my celtfather.Substack.com or just buy one at magerecords.com

Paul Rubino emailed: "Thanks and Small Joys. Good morning Marc,
It's Saturday afternoon in Fall of 2023 and I'm searching for a way to fill the Brian O'Donovan - sized hole in my heart after 10 years of the Celtic Sojourn on WGBH in Boston. I find the Irish and Celtic Music Podcast and begin tapping my foot and smile. Two years later I'm bouncing my 6 week old on a yoga ball and hear "a reminder to be present with those who you love" and tear up.
Thank you for creating and nurturing spaces of joy and celebration alongside mourning and grief for me and so many.
I'm really enjoying the new series on folk songs and stories. My 2 year old particularly likes the jigs.
In gratitude, Paul Rubino"

Cheryl Arvio emailed photos from Milwaukee Irish Fest: "Hi Marc, Back from Milwaukee Irish Fest 2025, where my favorite band of the fest this year was Bog Bodies, a band described as "heavy folk" exploring themes of environmentalism and ancient Irish culture.
But this year instead of band pics, I thought I'd share a few of some of the other things the fest has to offer. There is an area dedicated to sessions throughout the weekend, and on Saturday afternoon the space is turned over to a song circle, one of the highlights for us. We also love the Hedge School, with its historical and cultural programs. This year we were only able to attend one, but they are always well - researched and well - presented."
Christopher Fennell emailed a correction: "Goitse is pronounced "Go - wit - cha". Goitse is a Gaelic word for 'come here' is pronounced - Go - wit - cha"
Patrick Rieger emailed photos: "Hi Marc, Summers are pretty busy for my family and I, so listening to whole podcast episodes is not easy. I usually can only catch a bit here and there. We are members of the astronomy club here in Pittsburgh, so I took advantage of a members night at one of the club's two observatories, listening to some episodes of the Irish and Celtic Music Podcast while taking images of deep sky objects. A night of good music under a clear moonless night and with good company.
Here are three photos from that night. One is of the Eastern Veil Nebula in the constellation Cygnus, the remnants of a star that blew up. Another is of the galaxy Messier 101 in the constellation of Ursa Major. The last is terrestrial in nature, from my chair on the grounds of Wagman Observatory."

Aaron Adair on Patreon: "Congratulations, Marc.! I've been listening to the I&CMP since Episode #1 20 years ago and am so grateful that you've continued to build the network and giving artists a chance to be discovered and supported for these many years. Over the years you've helped me discover my Irish roots, been the soundtrack to two trips to my homeland (so far), and kept me engaged with my own Irish community here in the States. I'm currently Vice President of the Irish American Society in Dallas and never miss a chance to tell all of our members about the show and the fine work you're doing. As the saying goes, "May your home always be too small to hold all your friends." Slàinte Mhath!"
Randall 5th Alexander commented on Patreon: "Hearty Congratulations. Keep it up. You are my mainstay of music."
John Sharkey White, II commented on Patreon: "Wow. I've been listening since 2009. I hope you get to go for 20 more years! This is an amazing accomplishment. I wonder how many podcasts can say that. "

John Golden answered the question, What are you doing while listening?: "Often working BUT usually play the St Paddy's episode for the family feast."
James J. Grefig replied: "Hi Marc, This St. Patrick's Day I hope I'll be listening to your podcasts."
John Mahony replied to the Celtic Music Magazine: "Hey Marc, Thanks for everything you do to promote Irish and Celtic culture! I usually listen while working on technical stuff. It relaxes me and helps me keep up with newer bands. For St. Patrick's Day, I will be going to a lower - key party rather than hitting the bars, though I might stop at one or two. I help produce live Irish and Celtic music shows year - round, so I guess the answer is that I'm just doing more of the same!"
Edward Birdsall emailed: "Greetings; What am I doing while listening - out for daily walk if it is not raining or snowing here in Georgia (1 - 2hours long) also I listen while donating platelets at the Red Cross which I do on average every 6 weeks which means 2.5 - 3hrs of show for that "
Chris Raisin replied to the question, 'What are you doing while listening?': Usually lying in bed with my eyes closed (but not asleep). And for Patrick's Day? "Probably the same as I do for any other day (being 73 years old, single and living alone having lost contact with all my friends due to those infernal lockdowns we had in Melbourne." He's celebrating "By just listening to your great podcasts each time they are issued and remembering back to my days as an energetic Scottish (yes, not Irish) Country Dancer and Highland dancer (not so good at the Highland stuff…LOL). I still have a kilt in my closet (a bit moth eaten now) which I ceased fitting into about 30 years ago. Keep up your great sessions, and I look forward to (I hope) a bonus session. Slainte!"

Nacer Talel messaged me with a photo on Facebook: "Listening from Tunisia , I am Tunisian and super fan of the podcast and the culture . Keep it up guys !"
Mike Coombs messaged me: "Hi Marc, I'm listening to your brilliant podcast for the first time in ages, recovering from an awful week of covid - it's still with us and very real. I've been vaccinated and had the booster shots and I'm pretty fit but it was still awful, so goodness knows what it would have been like if hadn't been vaccinated!
Anyway I just wanted to say how uplifting and healing it is to listen to such great music. Thank you so much for producing this. I can afford to subscribe only a small amount each month but it is worth very much more.
As a musician myself I appreciate how much a show like this can help what is not the most popular music in the world - even though it should be - to come to the attention of more people. It is great to hear so many great musicians and tunes that I have never heard before. You just mentioned Heather Dale whose album Fairytale I bought after hearing her on your show so I shall make sure to check out your next podcast! When I am better I shall probably send you an old recorded track of mine that you may want to play. I am hoping to get an album mastered as soon as I can afford it, but this track I think fits the Celtic criteria so it would be interesting to see what you and your listeners if you decide to play it think.
All the best and keep producing these great podcasts "

Finally, Allie Ryan asks: "Hi Marc, do you know any "district 2" Irish music bands?
"District 2" being the City Council East Village, Gramercy Park, Kips Bay, Lower East Side of Manhattan ?
Our family, including our 9 & 11 yr old daughters listen to the podcast on Sundays when going to music lessons ( and to practice Irish dance lessons )
I am running to represent the district in City Council and would love to represent/ promote a local band(s)/artist on the campaign trail. My husband is clipping together video clips and always needs a good song.
We plan to have a meet and greet at our local Paddy Reillys bar ( lot of history there !) - so who knows, maybe we'll at some point have a venue / gig for them - hopefully a victory party.
Thanks for any response. Election coming up Tuesday so we will be in full campaign mode non stop til then - things will happen fast.
Hope this gives you some inspiration / ideas and hope to hear from you or artists soon ( feel free to pass on this email / address ). "

Marjie Kennedy replied to the Celtic Music Magazine feedback request: "I wanted to let you know that on March 17th I will be at the Hibernian parade in the Dogtown neighborhood of St. Louis Missouri. St. Louis has two parades each year because the Dogtown one is on March 17 every year, and the downtown St. Louis one is always the Saturday before St. Patrick's Day (unless the 17th falls on a Saturday, in which case I think they end up both being the same day).
I will listen to your podcasts either before or after those festivities. And this past Sunday, March 12, I celebrated by including some Celtic music and other Irish tunes on the radio program that I host on KDHX.org called Lotsa A Cappella.
Thanks for all you do for Celtic music!"
Tera Bochik replied: "I'm usually driving around doing my patrol rounds as a security guard.
Unfortunately I have to work on St. Patrick's day. (Missing the First Annual 20th World's Shortest St. Patrick's Day parade in Hot Springs, AR.)
I celebrate by listening and sharing about the podcast to anyone who asks what I'm listening to."
Von Rothenberger replied from Lucas, Kansas: "Happy Birthday! Erin Go Braugh! Thank you for all that you do."
Rick Cunningham of Boxing Robin replied: "Hello Marc, Many thanks for including Boxing Robin on Vol 2 of the St. Patrick's Day podcast! Have fun at the gig tonight - we're playing 80 miles away but at least it's a fairly early gig! All the best.
Tom McHugh sent a photo: "Hello Marc, One of the things I like to do while listening is make pens. The first picture is a Celtic - themed ballpoint pen I recently completed. The second picture is what two pens I recently made looked like while they were still on the lathe at our local makerspace.
Thanks for making the podcast! I've very must enjoyed listening to all the new music!"

Christina Maree replied to the Celtic Music Magazine feedback request: "Hi Marc, I love your podcast and have been listening to it for a while. It's very versatile! Useful for running, cleaning, cooking, organizing teacher resources and writing report cards (I'm a Kindergarten teacher)! I will be celebrating St Patrick's Day by playing my harp and listening to more inspiring tunes (a la the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast). Thanks for sharing! Go raibh maith agat!"
Pronunciation: guh ruh mah a - gut
Dennis O'Brien replied: "I listen while working on/planning my Dungeons & Dragons game for the week.
On St. Patrick's Day I am cooking a meal for my wife's family - a tradition since we first started dating. We will also listen to the Dropkick Murphys concerts from years past, if they don't have one live on YouTube.
We will be singing along - my wife's Irish born grandmother can't make it this year, but we WILL be making a phone call to far off Minnesota."
Stacia Ahlfeld replied: "We'll probably be doing school while listening. My kids like Irish and Celtic music as much as me. I am hoping to go to a nearby town's St. Patrick's Day parade. The town's name is Ireland, so they kind of blow it up. We'll probably continue to listen to music, and I might tell some stories."

Ethan Sellers of Logical Fleadh emailed: "Hey Marc -
Just wanted to send a belated thank - you for the Mother's Day spin. Such a nice thing to highlight the women in Celtic music. The strong presence of women - especially instrumentalists - in traditional music is one of the things I really appreciate about the field. Cheers,"
Ann Peck McBride emailed: "I first heard the podcast about 13 years ago! And it's taken me all this time to become a Patreon member. Sorry, Marc!
I'm embarrassed to say I listen to your podcast while I'm doing housework. (It's a treat I give myself so that I'll actually do the housework) I am always surprised at the wonderful new Celtic artists you play.
I first listened to you because I needed to hear all the Celtic music I could. I listen now, partly for that reason, and partly because for the last few years, I have co - hosted a Celtic Music Hour program in Salem Oregon, on KMUZ. As my friend (and I think yours) Steve Behrens said, "We've fallen down the rabbit hole of Celtic music!" And here in the Pacific Northwest, we have a LOT of Celtic musicians... Thanks"
Debra Roche emailed a photo: "Hello, Mark, I recently played your St Patrick's Day 2023 podcast from SiriusXM and loved it!
Many years ago (1985 - 1991)I had opened The Celtic Cottage & Roche's of Ireland in Davenport, & Bettendorf, IA which brought me to do an Irish show at St Ambrose University for their college radio show.
How much fun that time in my life was! Whenever you give back to your community it is just the best when your family roots are connected! As my father's parents where from County Limerick Ireland. Glin & New Castle West.
Hope you're well and thank you for your music podcast!"
Melissa Helman emailed a photo of her dirty dishes: "So exciting, I know. Keep up the great work with the podcast."
Christopher Patrick of Salem, MA emailed a couple photos: "Hello Mark!
I can't tell you how happy I am to have discovered the 'Irish & Celtic Music Podcast!' But I'm gonna try, all the same!
You see, in my childhood, my 5 siblings and I would get loaded up into our family station wagon every Saturday morning by our mother. She would then proceed to drive us all into Boston for our weekly Irish Step Dancing lessons. Our rides both in and back were spent listening to Boston's AM's radio show, 'The Irish Hour,' and later, 'The Irish Hit Parade,' (still on the air to this day!)
So, those jigs and reels were ingrained in us in our step dancing, and the other traditional music was from our rides there and home. My mother soon landed us an agent, and we, the six kids, danced all around the Greater Boston area.
So, it is no real big surprise that these days, I play in an Irish Music Band with my family. Comprised of myself, my brother, two sisters, and brother - in - law, we perform under the name of 'FitzBlarney,' based in Salem, Massachusetts.
I've attached a coupla' photos for you, too - one of the six of us in our 1970s step - dancing attire, and one from this past St. Patrick's Day, where FitzBlarney played out at The Witches Brew pub in Salem.
The music you play means a lot to me, so, I recently became a patron. Just out of appreciation! Thanks again, and 'Sláinte!'
P.S. I would love to one day get on your podcast! That'd be so cool!"
