| Revive Your Spark E85 | 21 Jul 2024 | 00:08:46 | |
Ep85 – Recently, I started feeling off but couldn’t pinpoint why. Within a short period of time, I was experiencing anxiety attacks and knew I had to call the doctor. After consulting with my regular doctor, naturopath and therapist, I’m starting to feel better, but it’s made me question how much I’ve been doing. After taking time to reassess, I’ve realized I need to cut way back. I feel my mission is too important to completely take the summer off, so, instead, I’m scaling back my efforts to 20%. In this process, I’ve decided to rebuild that 20% from scratch. I know I’m not alone because so many artists have shared with me that they are overwhelmed or burnt out. Just like me, they can’t keep up their current pace. Something has to change. So, part of that 20% is determining how to help this amazing community of artists. What I’ve been teaching for the past several years is incredibly valuable, and I don’t want to give it up, so I’ve been working on a simplified version that not only teaches you how to have a distinctive voice but how to simplify your own art career and revive your spark. Listen in to learn more about my upcoming workshop series and why you don’t want to miss it! >> To register for the Revive Your Spark Workshops, click here: https://theartistmarket.co/spark-workshops/ >> For information on working with Jessica, send your questions/thoughts here: https://theartistmarket.co/contact/ >> Visit Jessica’s website at www.TheArtistMarket.co >> For more practical and energetic strategies to create consistent income and life balance, follow me on Instagram @artistmarketco.

Ep84 – Agnes Russo is a contemporary abstract artist living in Dallas, Texas. Her art is an invitation to stop, relax and recharge in this crazy, busy life. She uses a loose technique with water and acrylics that allows the art to reveal it’s own story of peace and serenity. This past year has been an eye-opening experience for Agnes. She has developed a deeper understanding of what she wants to express with her art, and she has been able to use this understanding to connect with more buyers, especially at in-person events. However, Agnes is trying to have a stronger online presence and is looking to bridge the significant gap between her online sales and her in-person events. She knows social media can be a useful tool for artists, but she struggles to allow herself to be vulnerable with her audience after a difficult online experience. Listen in as we get to the heart of what Agnes really wants and discuss the best way for her to get there. >> For information on working with Jessica, send your questions/thoughts here: https://theartistmarket.co/contact/ >> For more practical and energetic strategies to create consistent income and life balance, follow me on Instagram @artistmarketco. Debbie has been creating murals for children’s spaces and small businesses, so thus far her art has been more about who she’s making it for than about the art itself. Debbie says she is still taking whatever comes her way but would love to have the financial freedom to turn jobs down if they don’t feel aligned with her vision. Right now, she is working toward making more money per commissioned mural as well as getting away from working nights and weekends. | "As a hobby artist, how do I attract buyers to increase sales?" - Kristine Hurd E74 | 31 Mar 2024 | 00:37:51
Ep74 – Kristine Hurd is a mixed media artist from Saskatchewan who works with alcohol ink and enjoys fluid experimenting. She works full time outside of the home and paints for fun in her spare time. Kristine isn’t looking to turn her art into a full-time income, but she knows she must sell it to continue to do the thing that she loves. Being a very prolific painter, she faces the challenges of limited space and the cost of purchasing supplies. Even though Kristine has a marketing degree, as an artist, she feels social media can be all-consuming. Because she paints for herself, Kristine feels that there isn’t really a story behind her art. Not knowing the story behind her art keeps Kristine from being able to identify who her target audience is. This makes it more challenging and tedious to come up with content for social media. Listen in to learn what Kristine is missing and the advice I give her on finding and connecting with her ideal art buyer. >> For information on working with Jessica, send your questions/thoughts here: https://theartistmarket.co/contact/ >> For more practical and energetic strategies to create consistent income and life balance, follow me on Instagram @artistmarketco. Most of her sales come from live events, but she also sells in local stores, through her website and on social platforms. She would like to be selling more online by increasing her presence there to draw a larger audience for her work. Should she raise her prices, focus more on her originals, or something else? Sam spends a significant amount of time on her originals, which are her passion projects, and would really like to be making more for her time and skill. However, she is a bit risk averse about going bigger, being bolder and increasing her prices significantly. Nikkita is passionate about creating rituals in life, not just following a routine, and through her classes and workshops she focuses on helping other artists do the same. Nikkita believes in being in tune with the seasons of your body and mind and not pushing yourself to stay busy when you need to rest and settle. Being a firm believer in staying grounded through rituals, Nikkita focuses on actions that are aligned with her current state and feel good for her. Lately, she has been in a resting or “wintering” phase, exploring the inspired ideas she has collected for several months, looking for little nudges that will help her decide when to take action on her evolving ideas. | “What art sales strategy can I use to boost my revenue?” - Jessica Singerman E83 | 16 Jun 2024 | 00:39:44
Ep83 – Jessica Singerman is a multidisciplinary artist and an outdoor athlete whose work is highly informed by the time she spends outdoors. Her work is all about connecting with people in that slower space and taking responsibility for the changes in the environment. Two years ago, Jessica took a full-time teaching position in the school of film at a local university, a change that greatly impacted her art business. While she loved her teaching job, the additional income lessened the pressure to sell her work, and that lack of pressure had a two-faceted effect. On the one hand, the amount of work Jessica sold was greatly reduced, and that meant that her studio was filling up with unsold pieces. On the other hand, she was able to give herself some grace creatively, exploring different media and techniques she had always wanted to try. The latter allowed her to hone skills that improved her practice. Overall, the last two years have been a positive experience for Jessica, but she’s ready to get back to selling more of her work. Her biggest problem seems to be generating leads. She knows how to move forward with the sale once someone expresses interest, but she’s considering hiring someone to help get her to that point. Listen in as we talk through a strategy that will help Jessica get back to selling more work.

Olivia is very active on Instagram, but she’s wondering if she needs to change the way she’s using it. She’s been posting a couple of times a day, every day, but not getting any engagement or making the connections she’s looking for. Instagram has made it possible for Olivia to connect with other artists, small businesses and even people in her local area, so she knows it has value to her business. She doesn’t want to leave the platform altogether, but she is struggling to decide what to do... should she stop devoting so much time to it and focus more of her attention on something like Pinterest where she is seeing a lot of growth?
Listen as I walk Olivia through making a mindset shift about marketing platforms and how to use them to complement her art business.

Ep60 - Tricia Caracappa is an abstract painter who looks to play and find pure joy and delight in her art. She has a background in representational work but says that the pendulum swings back and forth between the two, and they bring new gifts to each other. Right now her focus is abstract. She is not just beginning her art career, but she knows that there's so much more ahead and is excited to go on this huge, beautiful journey.
About a year ago Tricia pivoted her business. She felt a pull to create in a local community space where she could interact with other artists and the public. Looking to the future, she is ready to double down on her work within her community and being present at local shows and art events. She is energized by the process and wants to see where else she can go with it. Even though Tricia doesn’t really have a plan, she’s okay with that. Joann gravitates toward art with a cause or message, and she is learning to utilize the collective power of the artist community to help grow her business.

Ep.57 Abby Anderbard is a painter from Wisconsin. Her work is a reflection of herself and where she’s at in her life. Currently, she illustrates this through vague flora and fauna silhouettes, such as the raven, and reflective elements such as mirrors and gemstones. Ep82 – Robyn Ready Voth is a portrait painter who captures the milestone events of life in heirloom paintings. She has seen many changes in her art down through the years, and due to her diligence as a student, she regularly takes her art to a new level. As Robyn’s knowledge of art has grown, so has her understanding of why she creates, revealing the reasons behind her work as the years have passed. Robyn learned that before she could connect with others, she had to learn to connect with herself. She did so through meditation, which also allowed her to define the mission that she desires to serve. Robyn loves connecting one on one with people and strives to encourage and help them find their place, adding value to their lives by defining what is most important to them. This led Robyn to create heirloom paintings. Her paintings capture the defining and pivotal events in life that are important to save for future generations. At this point in her master’s program, Robyn is trying to define her plan, not only for her artmaking but for herself as well. She is currently looking for an execution partner, or accountability partner to hold her to her goals. However, finding the right person is proving to be tricky due to scheduling conflicts. Megan is learning that she doesn't have to choose between a day job and art because a day job can provide structure and financial stability for her art business. While molding the two together, she is looking for that thing that she wants to create that others will want to buy. Megan has received lots of positive feedback about her creations and has gone in a lot of different directions with her art, but she hasn’t settled on anything that is bringing in a consistent income. Megan is currently focusing on creating a very unique product, a centerpiece used for events and special occasions that features the people or organization being celebrated. The problem lies in gaining exposure for these centerpieces in a way that will help her connect to her ideal art buyer. Listen in as we work through ways she can gain exposure for her unique creations. _____________________________________>> For information on working with Jessica, send your questions/thoughts here: https://theartistmarket.co/contact/ >> For more practical and energetic strategies to create consistent income and life balance, follow me on Instagram @artistmarketco. Amid all the changes she is experiencing, Camilla continues to work toward long-term goals. Camilla is creating a more manageable version of the higher vision she has in mind, but she also sees many of her projects happening concurrently. EP53: Nina Albrecht is a painter from Finland. Her paintings are inspired by Nordic landscapes, and she incorporates a mix of realism and fantasy into her work. She is very busy with her four children now that her parenting leave has run its course, but she is determined to keep her art alive.
Successful at selling her larger paintings, Nina has actually found it more difficult to move her smaller pieces. In order to reduce her inventory, she recently organized an online auction. However, the auction failed to draw enough participation to produce any sales, so she is looking for more effective ways to encourage her audience to attend, even if it means stepping outside of her comfort zone.
Listen in as Jessica challenges Nina to face her fears to create the success she is hoping for.

The “Artist Success Interview Series" is a collection of interviews from artists who have had great success selling their art and reaching their goals. They’ll be sharing the biggest catalysts to their success and providing valuable tips that you can implement in your own business. Inge Flinte is an abstract artist currently living in Australia. Inge has been painting seriously for about 8 years now, but it wasn’t until just a few years ago that her career in fine art took off. She gave some work to a friend's gallery just to get it out of the house, and to her surprise her originals began selling so fast she had a hard time keeping up with the demand. Prior to this experience, Inge never thought it was possible to create an income around her art, and it took someone else believing in her for Inge to begin believing in herself. Her art business continued to grow as she had fun acting on her ideas and seeing where they would take her. Over the past couple of years Inge has seen a lot of change, to include moving continents twice and uncertainty with her husband’s job along with the normal change that occurs as life happens. She managed to adapt but not without making changes in her business as well. When she became concerned that selling her original art wouldn’t bring in the income she needed, Inge decided it was time to create a few new streams of income. Listen in to hear more about how Inge adapted and the pivots she has made in her art business. _________________________________________________________ >> For information on working with Jessica, send your questions/thoughts here: Contact me >> For more practical and energetic strategies to create consistent income and life balance, follow Jessica on Instagram @artistmarketco. EP38: Alexandra Verboom Fritz is a contemporary western artist whose art celebrates the cowboy culture alive in Canada. She is self-taught and considers herself to still be in the early part of her career as an artist. Alexandra has been selling directly to customers at trade shows, art fairs and ranch rodeos, but she can only do so many events per year. Alexandra has a one-year-old and another little one on the way, so the amount of time she has available to travel to shows and to devote to her art is very limited. This has Alexandra feeling overwhelmed, and she knows that time will be even more limited when her second child arrives in August. But because of her current schedule, she needs to find an alternative way to make those connections and gather those stories. She is looking to create a plan of action to be more active online which will hopefully present new ways to connect and expanding her audience. She has been producing her art for around 20 years, and she makes a good part-time income from it. A few years ago Megan found it easier to put her artwork out into the world digitally while her children were small. Her current business model is licensing with a print on demand site, generally using her artwork as pattern for fabric and wallpaper. Over the last five years the trend has been for that income to double each year, and sales from her Etsy shop have been supplementing that. Now that her children are entering school, Megan is ready to be in the driver’s seat instead of relying on other companies to promote her business. Her lack of control over what happens to the print on demand company she works with makes Megan nervous about her future income.
