How to be happy with Lauren Robson12 May 202401:00:33

Lauren is a freelance fashion designer and Director of Friday’s Child Studio who has set her heart being the best version of herself.

We have a long chat about Lauren’s journey of growth and coming into her own in all areas of her life including mindset, self love, career, finances & relationships . Throughout this episode Lauren shares so many relatable mindset traits in how she’s managed to overcome challenges that most of us face as women growing up in a social first world being obsessed with self comparison and having to be more than we currently are.

I wanted to record this episode because SO many of us struggle to break the cycle of self criticism, self sabotage and being perfect. Lauren is such a good example of someone who has really pushed herself to come into her own, to stop listening to what society tells her to be and focuses on who she wants to be and what she wants to achieve.

I genuinely hope you find inspiration in listening to this and take away hope in that being you is all you ever need to be!

Step 2 in becoming your truest, most authentic self. Stop shying away from who you are and start to recognise that it's ok to be you. Most of us spend our lives trying to fit in, trying to be happy, trying to be cool. What you don't realise is that all of that is leading you to misery and once you start to behave in a way that is authentic to who you actually are you will feel more at ease, more content, fulfilled and happier than you ever have done.

What I cover in this video:

Observe your behaviour

Figure out the real you

Make a plan

Remove the fear

Be patient

Sarah Randall On: LIVE Intuitive Eating Coaching Session19 Jul 202300:53:37

Sarah Randall is an intuitive eating coach that specialises in helping people have a better relationship with food and their bodies. She offers a dialogue that allows us to understand why we have the relationship that we have with food, helps people to gain control around food and diet and ultimately gain acceptance.

I have spoken a lot about the relationship that I have with food and my body on the podcast and as a result know that a lot of you face the same issues and daily struggles..I had been watching Sarah’s videos on TikTok for a while and found them intriguing so I reached out of her to be guest!

There is so much noise out there on diets, food, how our bodies should look, food and body trends that its almost impossible not to fall into the trap of beating yourself up and comparing yourself to images online or other peoples behaviours around food, bodies and movement.

Sarah and I chatted back and forth for a while about how to create an impactful episode and together we decided that we would do a live coaching session dedicated around the relationship that I have with food, binge eating and how I feel about my body.

I’ve done dedicated episodes about this before so if you’re a frequent listener you will have some context around what we’re about to discuss.

This was one of the most nerve wracking episodes I’ve recorded, I allowed myself to be vulnerable and honest in the hope that this conversation allows you feel about your relationship with food and if you do struggle with some of the same issues I really encourage you to take action as there is an alternative way.

I really recommend watching this episode on YouTube as Sarah is super engaging and watching this conversation live could really help you to feel like a part of the conversation. I’ll add the link to my channel in the show notes.

If anyone is curious I would definitely recommend reaching out to Sarah, she created a space for me to be open, honest and vulnerable and within one session allowed me to understand that a lot of how I feel is through outside experiences vs what and who I am.

Really hope you enjoy listening to this…

Laura Capon On: Representation, Diversity & Realism in Beauty21 Jun 202301:19:45

This weeks episode is with Laura Capon, a journalist in the beauty industry who has worked for some of the major press titles including Elle & Cosmo.

Laura has a really refreshing and pure approach when it comes to beauty. She see's beauty for what it is and what it means to people vs pushing for her readers to obtain something that isn't achievable or authentic to them.

When I listened back to this episode a dominant thought was ‘what a breathe of fresh air’. Laura isn’t your stereotypical successful beauty career woman, her success in her career down to who she knew or where she hung out (apart from her Dad being a Crystal Palace fan!) but down to her passion, talent, intellect and empathy for beauty consumers.

Laura shared stories of being on the magazine editorial floor, what it's like to be behind the scenes of beauty journalism and the magazines, she also shared some useful tips on career advice and how to succeed in the beauty industry.

Something I didn’t particularly expect to come from this episode was the conversation and vulnerability from Laura around being plus size particularly in the beauty industry and the challenges that she has faced which was heart wrenching to listen to but also a realisation that we actually need to be doing better. No-one should have to prove themselves or be made to feel a certain way because of how they look or who they are.

The podcast was always designed to have people on to share their stories and realities in the hope that listeners feel more relatability and acceptance so if you’re feeling the familiarities when listening to this episode please please reach out because I would love to help and support you in any way that I can. My email address is Chloe@scenesofbeauty.co.uk.

Tam Kaur On Becoming A More Confident & Self Fulfilled Version Of You07 Jun 202301:09:02

Tam Kaur is someone that I have been following for quite a while and someone that I think really owns the self confidence space not just because of her powerful and to the point content but because she lives and breathes it.

She is a walking example of someone that has put things into practise, been disciplined with it and now lives being a more fulfilled and confident version of herself.

For anybody that doesn’t know Tam, she is a content creator that puts her own stamp on confidence, self love and relationships, she shares videos that offer guidance and tips to motivate you to level up your life.

Tam dedicated an entire year to self focussing, pushing her boundaries and building her inner confidence. Throughout this episode she shares her journey of who she was before she did the self work, talks us through some of the things that she put in place right through to where she is now which is fascinating to listen to. Her dedication and discipline to bettering herself is just insane.

There is so much out there at the minute about self development so I was keen to have Tam on the show to cut some of the BS, get to the point and share tips on how we can all work through some of our own insecurities.

Her YouTube videos are some of the best I’ve seen in this space so if you haven’t been on Tam’s channel yet I highly recommend heading over to YouTube and watching some of her content, I promise that you’ll benefit from it.

Katie McNicol On: Benefits Of Living In Sobriety 24 May 202301:29:20

Katie McNicoll is a blogger turned content creator and coach who decided to change her life though sobriety.

After years of drinking, self destructive behaviour and efforts to stop, Katie decided that it was time to ditch the alcohol and pursue a life without drinking.

In this episode Katie very vulnerably opened up about her experince with alcohol, the pressures surrounding it, her behaviour while drunk and the relationship that she had with herself during an alcohol fuelled social life. As well as sobriety, we talk about Katies experiences with depression and some coping mechanisms that she find really beneficial.

I never really knew too much about sobriety before I met Katie and I was really surprised to hear that Katie has found so much more to sobriety than to drinking..mental clarity, confidence, self assurance, a more productive mindset which opens up so many thought starters.

Drinking is something that affects quite a lot of us, it can be a social pressure and almost something that can feel like a chokehold at time, I’m aware that we all have varying levels of relationships with alcohol but if you are someone that is curious about delving deeper into the relationship you have this alcohol, this is a great place to start.

The reason I love Katie and her content so much is that she relays her sobriety messaging in way that is positive and educational, not persuasive. She doesn’t share a message to not drink, she shares a message that its ok to do whatever you feel like but there are other options and we don’t have to give into the pressures of drinking if we choose not to.

We didn’t talk about it a ton in the episode but Katie is also a life coach so I highly recommend checking out her website, the link is in the show notes.

Rikki Sandhu On: Creating An Authentic Space In Beauty10 May 202301:10:04

Rikki Sandhu, a content creator in the beauty space that has huge audiences across Instagram, TikTok & YouTube.

Rikki initially started posted about beauty products and hacks but has evolved into talking more and more about authentic beauty and not hiding from your imperfections. She uses her platform as a tool to empower young girls and women to rid of the need to get rid of desire to constantly change themselves and to accepting themselves exactly as they are.

Rikki is a true breathe of fresh air, she’s so focussed on normalising being normal which is super important in a space where we’re all trying to navigate the overwhelming feeling of beauty and social media. She is someone who is vulnerable to her audiences which in turns creates a safe space for her community.

Jamelia Donaldson On: Self Love And Having A Healthy Relationship With Social Media03 May 202301:07:45

Jamelia Donaldson is a beauty founder and entrepreneur of Treasure Tress, Europes largest subscription box for naturally kinky, curly hair.

She posts a lot on her social media pages about empowerment, loving yourself as you are and really celebrating being enough be being you..so as soon as I came across her profile I knew that she had to be on the podcast.

She has a really realistic approach to mindset, entrepreneur ship and self love which I find refreshing in a space where we are bombarded with content and insight into how we should all live and love ourselves. Jamelia seems to have created her own version of what self empowerment means and I found it really interesting to dig into it.

We go through the journey of how Treasure Tress was built, mainly from Jamelia’s own frustrations and experiences of the lack of hair care available to her. She shares the risks that she took along the way and believing in herself to create a business and a life that she loves living.

If there is one thing to take away from this episode, its to remove all of the pressure that you are putting on yourself to be perfect, to be like them, to constantly practise self love and to just learnt o be yourself. Live your life, be you focus on being content and do what makes your happy.

Chloe On: Pressing Pause And Building Self Confidence 26 Apr 202300:47:03

Hey Beauties,

A little solo episode for you this week. I wanted to give you a life update but I have also been doing a lot of work on my self confidence so I wanted to share some of the things that are really helping me to build it back up.

There are certain areas in my life (social situations and dating!) where I feel like my confidence was pretty much on the floor so I decided to press pause on a few things and start to focus on putting things into place that would allow me to be a more confident version of myself.

I talk through feeling of lacking in confidence, how I noticed it and the process of building it back up again.

These are all things that I have out into practise from my own accord, they are things that are suitable to me and my lifestyle but I know that a lot of you also struggle with confidence from time to time so I really hope the tips I share are useful.

Things I have been doing to build my self confidence...

Switching Off - dating apps, time out from my phone, journaling, spending time with myself

Communicating - speaking up vs living in my head

Giving myself a break - being easier on myself and reducing negative self talk

Consuming positive content - watch empowering videos and listen to positive podcasts

Getting in to my feminine energy - allowing myself to be vulnerable vs super protective

Pause on dating - pressing pause on dating apps

Allowing myself freedom - Letting goi and creating space for spontaneity

Believe in myself - (even if it’s a lie)

We talked about who Sophie really is away from the cameras and go on to talk about having an elevated life on socials, the pressure that comes with and how to strip it back to just being yourself.

Rach Leary On: Prioritising What's On The Inside Vs How You Look12 Apr 202301:25:39

Rach Leary, YouTuber, beauty queen and all round babe! Rach and I sit down to go deeper into her story and journey of becoming a content creator and how she’s built her foundations to get to where she is today.

Rach is one of the OG beauty Vloggers, she was really at the heart of social media and has played a role in it becoming a more authentic space. She shows all of the glam and fun lifestyle stuff but also shows her reality and realism when it comes to showing the behind the scenes of her life. Something that I think makes herb really relatable.

One thing that is a constant throughout Rach’s content is her energy, positivity but also the ability she has to keep it real and remain grounded. I asked her how she manages to stay true to who she is and not get carried away with everything that comes with the rise of having a social presence and following.

Rach is obviously known for her beauty content and get ready with me’s so we touch on her journey with beauty & makeup, she shares her tips for full glam, her favourite products and we dive deeper into the background of her beauty and chat style content.

Something we did dive deeper onto is about beauty being more than skin deep, Rach goes into why she always prioritises personality and what’s on the inside over how we look, she mentioned the phrase ‘appreciate your uniqueness’ which I absolutely loved! If you’re struggling with how you look or your body or just feeling insecure in general, this is such a good episode to empower you to just be you.

Hermione Olivia On: Prioritising Self Care And Living In Balance08 Mar 202300:54:16

Hermonie Olivia is a serial entrepreneur, the CEO of JSHealth, a social media presence, a wife and mum to be.

If that didn’t explain it…Hermione is someone that is amazing at balance, she spins a ton of plates at any one time so I was keen to sit down and discuss how she manages to be successful and fit it all in, not only in her work life but in her personal and self care lifes too. She is someone that is an absolute powerhouse, she’s built businesses, travelled the world, relocated to another country, spend time working on herself and is now living a life that she has self made through taking the time to put herself first.

JSHealth is obviously a huge part of Hermione’s life so we go into the brand itself but we chatted a lot about the importance of building a happy, motivated and driven team.

One thing we talked at length about was self care, Hermoine’s journey with it and the practises that she has put into place to become a more confident version of herself. She proiritises and practises self care every day, some of which Hermione’s shares in the episode.

Lovelle On: Following Your Dreams And Standing For Representation01 Mar 202301:29:49

Lovelle is a singer, song writer and model from South East London. I invited Lovelle onto the podcast mainly to talk about representation and drive.

She is living and breathing building her career so I thought it would be really interesting to hear from someone who is in the midst of building her platform and her role within industries that are often seen as impossible.

What I got from the conversation was so much more, its clear from this conversation that Lovelle has done a ton of self work, she knows herself really well and she talks us through how she’s got to this point. I am obsessed with her mentality, she is someone that stands up for what is right, holds her own and doesn’t take no for an answer. She’s really found who she is and I absolutely love that about her.

She is crazy ambitious but in a way thats real, I think we often here success stories and get a sense of it being easy, this is a conversation that is super raw and show’s Lovelle’s ambition in a transparent light.

We haven’t had a super beauty focussed guest on for a little bit so I’m excited to share that this weeks guest is Sarah Palmyra.

Sarah is a content creator who share’s info and education on all things beauty. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who lives and breathes beauty quite like Sarah does, her energy lights up when she talks about brands and products and the way that beauty makes her feel.

From working the shop floor at Sephora to building a really successful career as a macro influencer in the beauty space, we go everywhere in this conversation touching on Sarah not having the best time at school and how that manifested into fears about becoming a content creator to coming 360, doing the self work and turning her ambitions into her reality.

Of course I ask Sarah about the behind the scenes of her life, her favourite products and some tips that can help us all with our beauty regimes.

Sophie Habboo, star of Made In Chelsea and now co-host of the Nearly Weds and Wednesdays We Drink Wine podcasts.

With reality TV bigger than it ever has been and us being so exposed to peoples lives on social media I wanted the chance to speak with Sophie about her life behind the scenes, to find out a little bit more about who she is and what life is really like when you’re on a reality TV series that so many of us watch every single week.

As well as chatting about being in the lime light we talk at length about the importance of self care and putting yourself and your body first. Sophie talks loads about routines and the rituals that she implements every day to make herself feel good.

The reason I love Sophie and asked her top come on the podcast is because she seems to have a way of just being herself and not hiding behind a personsa which I find quite refreshing.

About Me:

My mission is to help people everywhere become their BEST SELVES and become a version of themselves that they love being every single day. Delving deep and practising self growth and self improvement has helped to transform my life. It took me from being the shy, insecure, unmotivated girl who was always in a rut if self pity and wallowing to being the woman who prioritises herself everyday, her career, is kind & loving, achieves my goals, solo dates, feels fulfilled when alone AND has a newfound confidence. My life has transformed since I stopped looking outwards and blaming the world and started to look inwards at how to fulfil and love myself.

Emma Guns is a podcaster, fellow beauty obsessor, journalist and writer. She has worked for some of the biggest publications in the UK and I wanted to dig a little deeper in to Emma’s journey. She is someone that is all about self improvement but in a realistic way, she’s not about showing the highlights of her journey but a real life reflection of the highs and lows, let’s face it, they’re both as important.

In this episode, Emma tells her story of working with red label publications and her ambition of getting her dream job for OK Magazine and we also chat about how beauty has evolved in the media.

I share a lot similar throughs with Emma, I absolutely love her approach and realism which is really evident when we chat about the current state of self love and the world of manifesting to achieve your goals.

There has been a lot of conversation on the podcast lately about weight and how we feel about our bodies, its becoming more and more apparent that so many of us feel quite similar when it comes to any conversation about our bodies…Emma and I also get quite deep about they way we feel about our bodies in this episode and have a really vulnerable and raw conversation about the relationships we both have with our bodies, our weight and binge eating.

Shannon Lawlor On: Behind The Scenes Of Beauty Journalism 28 Dec 202201:41:44

Shannon Lawlor is a beauty journalist and editor that keeps it 100% real. I have been desperate to have Shannon on the since before I launched Scenes Of Beauty, she is extremely passionate about beauty and the industry, in this episode shares her story of being a beauty insider and the real life of a beauty journalist.

Journalists, beauty journalists especially, often get slammed for giving us loads of BS and telling us what we should and shouldn’t be be doing when it comes to beauty, skincare, makeup and our bodies. What I love about Shannon and something that is apparent from the second we hit record on this conversation is that she is completely herself, she is unfiltered, honest, funny and genuinely here to help and advise people when it comes to beauty, products and beauty regimes.

She shares her thoughts on how the beauty industry has changed and evolved with the influencer landscape and shared her advice on who to trust in the industry including Caroline Hirons.

We touch on every topic of beauty from her unmaksed version of the behind the scenes of being a part of the beauty media and press to products and shutting down some of the trends we see on social media. Shannon has a really interesting lens on the magazine and journalist landscape, something that we chat at length into about throughout the episode.

As well as beauty, we chat about her personal life and dived deeper into elements of her personality unveiling things like confidence and lack of self esteem which was really interesting to hear and talk about and something that I think a lot of you guys as listeners will relate too.

Dani G On: Living With Alopecia 21 Dec 202200:59:47

Danielle Gilbert is a content creator in the beauty space that has built a substantial following of people who love her glam looks but above all, have an appreciation for Dani not being scared or ashamed to show who she is. Dani has Alopecia and as she should, fully embraces it and accepts it.

Dani was diagnosed with Alopecia when she was just 6 years old and in this episode, she shares her story of how she has never allowed it to define who she is or let it be something that holds her back. We dive deep into every areas of Dani's life and how Alopecia has played a role within that.

She is one of the most refreshing and positive people I’ve met in a really long time, she’s completely comfortable in her skin but more than that I believe that Dani has and continues to create a safe space online that welcomes people in and encourages them to feel empowered to be exactly who they are.

If you are struggling with alopecia or can't begin to accept it, this is a great place to start. Dani offers a positive perspective not only on alopecia but a wider lens of how to challenge beauty standards too.

What Dani is doing and I hope this episode does the same is super powerful in that it it gives perspective on how and why to be happy in ourselves.

She is a lawyer and a magistrate by day and alongside has dedicated time to building herself into someone who is content, comfortable and inspired by who she is.

One of the most refreshing and empowering conversations I’ve had to date, Bishamber is a complete boss but in her own way which I absolutely loved. After growing up with extreme pressures and constantly telling herself that she’s not good enough she now lives life on her terms.

There is so much value in this conversation, we touched on every topic including learning how to value and accept your body, how to be determined and passionate, that we all face pressures in some way or another and the only way to grow is by sharing. I really hope you take as much away from this conversation as I did.

Chloe On: How To Start Accepting Your Body30 Nov 202200:49:29

A solo episode for you this week that is really raw and open about how I have been feeling about my body.

Body and weight is something that is on my mind a lot and something that I constantly have conversations about with friends and peers. As women, our body and weight are often things that we are defined by and therefore plays a massive role in how we feel about ourselves.

For me, my body and weight is something that has always affected me both physically and mentally and it's time to change. It's time to start accepting ourselves exactly as we are so I wanted to share a bit about how I have been feeling and my plan of attack to really try and overcome the body and weight issues that I have once in the hope that some of you who are listening resonate and feel empowered to accept yourself too.

We are beautiful and enough as we are. What society says shouldn't be something that makes us fall out of love with our bodies. They are the skin we are in and its time to make change.

What I Cover

Growing up with body and weight issues

Accepting Your Body

Self Comparison

Overcoming Body Issues

Binge Eating

Kristen Such On: Inner Child Healing & Self Application31 Aug 202201:06:42

Kristen Such is a mindset coach that specialises in helping women heal self doubt and build confidence so that they can live a more enriched and fulfilled life.

I loved talking to Kristen because she’s relatable, honest and an empowering voice for us to listen to. How she talks about mindset and healing kinda blew me away, she’s super knowledgeable but keeps it quite raw at the same time which is needed in a time where we are constantly fed information on self development and self growth.

She’s all about getting rid of the BS and gets straight to the point so that we can really understand how to take what she’s saying and apply it to our own lives in a realistic and healthy way.

We talked about anything and everything from how we’re affected by our inner child, self healing and dealing with trauma to making big decisions, self application and overcoming things that are holding us back.

Anna Brightman On: Passion Behind Humanising Your Brand24 Aug 202200:45:05

This weeks episode is with Anna Brightman, the Co-founder of Up Circle which is a skincare brand that uses upcycled ingredients to deliver high quality skincare.

A really interesting chat with Anna, of course she shares the story of how she and her brother, Will built the brand but we have a really good chat about how they keep Up Circle so real, human and why they share more than just success stories.

I try to have a different approach when it comes to interviewing brand founders, I’m a firm believer of brands being born from people so we dug deep into Anna’s story and background of where her love of beauty came from and interestingly, her passion for makeup.

If you haven’t tried Up Circle’s products I recommend giving them a go. I was initially quite sceptical, especially about coffee as a skincare ingredient but was pleasantly surprised and have continued to use their products.

Listen until the end because Anna gives us some great skincare tips and I ask the simple skincare questions that we’re sometimes too shy to ask.

Up Circle have kindly given the Scenes Of Beauty listeners 20% off their products with code SENSESB20.
