172. How I Ditched My “Working Mom Bedtime Guilt”

Season 4 · Episode 172

lundi 27 janvier 2025Duration 15:18

Many working moms who juggle careers and daycare often experience some form of mom guilt. It can show up in many ways, but one that Allison frequently hears about is the guilt that comes with having limited time with children in the evening because of early bedtimes. Allison herself struggled with what she calls "working-mom-bedtime-guilt." After solving her older daughter’s sleep puzzle, she discovered that a 7pm bedtime worked best for her children. However, this early bedtime left little room for hanging out together after a long day of work and daycare. As a result, Allison grappled with feelings of guilt about not having enough time to bond with her girls each evening.

In this episode, Allison shares how she was able to shift her mindset and find peace with the early bedtime schedule, recognizing its benefits for everyone in the family. She opens up about her personal experience in hopes of helping you find your own path to easing that persistent working mom guilt.

70. Understanding Pelvic Floor Dysfunction with Dr. Danielle Bailey

Season 2 · Episode 70

lundi 13 février 2023Duration 52:40

In today’s episode, Allison is joined by Dr. Danielle Bailey, a pelvic floor physical therapist. They discuss many aspects of the pelvic floor and how it can be affected by pregnancy and giving birth. Dr. Bailey provides a clear explanation of the anatomy and function of the pelvis and pelvic floor and shares the many symptoms a woman may experience and when a pelvic floor physical therapist could help. Allison and Dr. Bailey discuss incontinence or leakage of urine or stool, urgency or frequency of going to the restroom, pain during intercourse, constipation or diarrhea, joint discomfort, diastasis recti (abdominal muscles separating), or pain in the hip, back or tailbone.

Pelvic floor dysfunction can affect all women, regardless of age, whether they have even been pregnant or not, or whether they’ve delivered a baby vaginally or via c-section. Allison asks Dr. Bailey what symptoms warrant a visit to a physical therapist, what to expect during the first visit, whether it’s ever too late to seek help, whether Kegel exercises are still being recommended to women, and even her thoughts on the Squatty Potty.

Dr. Bailey shares why she feels it’s very important for women to be proactive when it comes to the function of their pelvic floor, how she customizes treatment for each woman’s personal situation and offers details on the solutions and strategies she uses with her patients for some of the most common issues women face.
