Micro Queers: Ganymede (2024)

lundi 2 septembre 2024Duration 28:28

Repress that gay demon and avert the aversion therapy because we're discussing Ganymede (2024), a queer thriller that we quite liked! When a small town wrestling star develops a crush on an openly gay classmate, all Hell breaks loose when he begins seeing visions of a demonic ganymede. Featuring affecting lead performances from Pablo Castelblanco and Jordan Doww and over-the-top performances from David Koechner and Robin Lively (Teen Witch), Ganymede is a bit all over the place, but we think the pros outweigh the cons. CW: Suicide, self-harm. Questions? Comments? Snark? Blood for Dracula (1974) feat. Conrad Chambers

Episode 295

mercredi 14 août 2024Duration 01:41:00

Pack your bags because we're heading to Italy to look for the blood of wirgins in (Andy Warhol's) Paul Morrissey's Blood for Dracula (1974), a companion piece to his (their?) Flesh for Frankenstein (1974). Tagging in for the conversation is Conrad Chambers, the co-host of Movie Oubliette and The Queer Gaze. CW: sexual assault. Join us as we try to figure out just what is going on in this wacky little movie. From Udo Kier's diva of a Dracula to the film's very, very questionable messaging when it comes to sexual assault, there's no shortage of things to discuss. Need a refresher on Flesh for Frankenstein? Listen to our episode on it right here! Questions? Comments? Snark? Anna And The Apocalypse (2017)

Episode 261

mercredi 20 décembre 2023Duration 01:49:47

We're tired of pretending that there's no such thing as a Rom Com Zom Musical! The time has finally come to discuss John McPhail's Anna and the Apocalypse (2017), which has charming Scottish actors, a Canadian choreographer, and three (?!) different versions. Plus: Joe's issue with villainous Mr. Savage, our fave songs, the sad Ryan Gosling connection, nearly good queer representation, and why we need more horror movie musicals pleeeeease Questions? Inside (2007)

Episode 260

mercredi 13 décembre 2023Duration 02:07:45

Watch the road and finish your knitting project because we're delving back into the world of New French Extremity with a festive look at Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo's 2007 home invasion film Inside. Join us as we laud lead actresses Béatrice Dalle and Alysson Paradis for their visceral performances before putting the film's narrative into the context of the 2005 French riots that serve as the background setting of the film. Plus: a very emotive CGI fetus, the deadliest scissors you'll ever see, and some very incompetent law enforcement officers. Your Vice Is A Locked Room And Only I Have The Key (1973) feat. Shelagh Rowan-Legg

Episode 259

mercredi 6 décembre 2023Duration 01:47:35

It's Giallo time so we, along with film critic Shelagh Rowan-Legg, are headed to Italy for Sergio Martino's Your Vice Is A Locked Room And Only I Have The Key (1972). C/W: sexual assault, incest, racism, and the cat dies. Shelagh offers plenty of political and cultural knowledge of women's issues from the period, while Trace refreshes our memory of Edgar Allan Poe's source material, The Black Cat. Plus: tender queer sex, multiple killers, sheep eyeballs, costume dresses, and a fiery finish Questions? Comments? Snark?
