Highlights from this episode:
-Are we going to take a summer break? What about signing up for fall things? It's hard to know what to do!
-Where are we at with screen time? Angela shares an update about the changes to their screen routine.

135: How We Homeschool Through a Pandemic: Projects & Productivity
Episode 135
lundi 27 avril 2020 • Duration 56:33
There’s no one right way to handle these days at home. Sometimes it feels great to tackle a project. Sometimes it feels best to just go with the flow. We’re giving you permission to do what you need to do. We also have an honest conversation about self-regulation and screen time and setting boundaries that best support our kids. Listen in as we process where we’re each at this week.
Highlights from this episode:
-We all handle the stress of these days differently: increased productivity or increased rest or a mix of both!
-It feels like we’re getting master class on our kids right now. We should give ourselves credit for how much we’re learning and connecting and growing together.
-Deep dive authentically: Use this time to go deeper into your kids’ interests. But don’t feel the pressure to validate it “academic” measurements.

134: How We Homeschool Through a Pandemic: Learning All the Time
Episode 134
lundi 20 avril 2020 • Duration 58:23
How can we honor ALL the kinds of learning, even the ones that don't show up on a lesson plan or schedule? How can we make room for more non-traditional learning when our kids have so much on their plates with distance learning and our own homeschool plans? How can we balance the "must-do's" with the "want-to's" and how can we value BOTH kinds of learning equally? Listen in as we process setting up healthy boundaries for our kids' workloads (even saying "no" to assignments sometimes!) and partnering with our kids to embrace the BIG PICTURE of learning all the time.
Highlights from this episode
-Are your kids asking hard questions about when this will be over? Do you have kids who are expressing increased "neediness"? We feel you!
-How are you handling this season of increased screen time? Take advantage of screen time to get your own alone time or a mental break!
-Can you get out for a walk by yourself? Solo walks are a great way to get in some quality alone time and a little reprieve from parenting.
-Is it time for a change in your routine? Making changes doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong--it just means it's time for a change!
-Have you said "no" to any of your kids' distance learning assignments? Do you need to? Consider this your permission slip to cut back on what's being asked of your kids! YOU know what's best for your kids and YOU are ultimately in charge.
-Are you noticing how much learning isn't planned out on your schedule? How can we balance the "must-do's" with the "want-to's" and how can we honor BOTH kinds of learning equally?

133: How We Homeschool Through a Pandemic: Screens, Self-Care, Curriculum
Episode 133
lundi 13 avril 2020 • Duration 58:16
The shock of our new reality is wearing off and we’re settling into a marathon pace, which means we’re beginning to find routines that work. But in classic Maren and Angela fashion, our routines are unique to each of us and our personalities! In our “State of the Family” update, we discuss how we’re using screen time for our kids to support our own self-care efforts. In our “The Nitty Gritty” update, we dive into the ACTUAL curriculum and resources we’re using for homeschool. Well, at least what’s working this week. Taking it day-by-day, friends!
Highlights from this episode
-Anyone else struggling to keep up with all the online/distance learning schedules and usernames and passwords? Give yourself credit! There are so many details to keep track of!
-Is it time to shake it up or settle in? Some of our kids need a change, while some of our kids have had enough change for a while.
-Are you seeing the upside of online learning for any of your kids? Some kids are thriving with the chance to work independently and with accountability to their teachers (not us parents).
-We all know how important consistent and planned self-care is, but in this time, it's also good to practice "in-the-moment self care"--asking ourselves "What do I need right now?"
