Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 142 Prior To The Sense of I - I Am13 Sep 202600:07:13

Good morning, everyone.

Some teachings like Nisargadatta, for example, suggest to hold on to the sense of I am. And in holding on to that or attending to that exclusively, eventually that will vanish and what will be left is the Absolute Self.

That’s not really what I try to point to here, actually. What is already prior to that sense of self or feeling of self?

That can’t be named or described, but it can be known, So, for a moment, let’s just be on holiday, open, knowing, aware.

««»»

So the sense or the feeling of I am is localized, isn’t it? If you close your eyes or go within, so to speak, and know yourself to be here, just subjectively knowing yourself as this I am feeling, you can recognize that.

««»»

That’s still imposing a limitation though, isn’t it?

««»»

So, again, with the eyes open preferably, pure being, aware, knowing.

««»»

Not localized, not a sense or a feeling.

««»»

Uncharacterizable.

««»»

But paradoxically, undeniable.

««»»

Unlimited. Unlocalized. Uncentralized.

««»»

But also I, not in the sense of I, this limited form, but in the sense of existence.

And I am that.

««»»

So what I’m suggesting is to not get stuck on the sense or feeling I am and holding on to that, waiting for that to vanish or something like that, but go immediately beyond or prior to that.

««»»

There’s no ego there, there’s no personal self there.

««»»

Pure aware being.

««»»

Eternally what I am. Always.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 141 The Vast Unknown12 Sep 202600:11:07

Good morning everyone.

Let’s just be here together, blown wide open.

««»»

Pure aware being.

Prior to any name or form, any personal history, any movements of the self. Simply aware.

««»»

What would it be like for you to have no reliance whatsoever on the conceptual mind, as regards to liberation or freedom? Literally no thoughts, no ideas, no concepts, nothing at all.

««»»

Not even, “I’m awareness,” not even,” I’m non-dual?, not even, “there’s no self”, not even anything, no words, no ideas whatsoever, literally nothing of the mind.

««»»

See where that leaves you. It leaves you in the vast unknown. By unknown, I mean nothing known with the mind to rely on.

««»»

It leaves you in pure knowing,

synonymous with aware,

synonymous with pure being,

what I am.

««»»

Now, those words have to go as well, of course.

Those words are just a little tool to pry open something and then throw the tool away. Those words mean nothing.

So with no words, simply here and now,

be.

««»»

When any concepts arise, whatever the concept might be, ‘I am awareness’ or anything, with that concept arises the one who has the concept as well, the rising I, the ego.

You see?

««»»

In no concept, in no ideas, in the unknown, pure knowing,

there’s no ego, there’s no rising I, there’s only pure being.

««»»

Recognizing this pure being is the beginning. It’s also the end, but it’s not the end because there’s still attraction to the conceptual mind. That has to be slowly attenuated.

««»»

And that happens simply by being out in the sun of pure being, the vast unknown. Loving that, being that.

««»»

It’s the end of you, the seeker, the understander, the conceptualizer, the philosophizer. the arguer. the waiter. It’s the end of that one.

Now.

««»»

And don’t have another concept, “well, I have to recognize this and it has to be permanent”.

There’s already an I in there who has the idea that it has to be permanent. There’s already the one who’s failing that, rising I.

««»»

Freedom is only ever always now.

Like now.

««»»

So you won’t be more free in the future if that thought is there that is again the rising I, ego, the seeker.

««»»

You’re gonna be free now, only.

««»»

So just notice those movements.

“Okay, I recognize this now, but when will it be permanent?”

“Oh, who was that saying that? Uh-huh. Oh, very interesting.”

That’s all.

Very interesting.

Jump.

««»»

What more can you do? Nothing.

««»»

The way to be free, is to be free.

Like now.

««»»

Being free means free from the known.

The ego is the known.

All of the associated concepts and thoughts and desires and fears of the ego are the known also.

Free from the known means,

I am prior to that, now.

Pure being.

Consciously aware.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 140 There's Nothing Behind the Curtain11 Sep 202600:12:23

Good morning, everyone.

What caused this moment to be as it is?

Well, some people claim that we create this moment, we create the movements of our life, and that we have something to do with that. Some people claim God creates everything. Some people claim karma. It’s all karma. Or destiny.

But what’s actually true of any of these things? Are any of them true?

I think an interesting question is, why or who feels a need to know that, any of those, one way or another? What about not knowing at all? Freedom from the known.

It’s easy to, because we don’t know why something is happening, say, “well, that’s my karma” or something like that. Or it’s God’s will. Or it happened because of this or that cause and effect. And it’s because of my fault or my doing or my great deed or something.

There can be some comfort in feeling that now I know why something is as it is. Even if it’s, well, it’s God’s will, so it’s out of my hand. There’s some comfort in that as well, some security in the known.

But again, the real question is, who needs to know that? Who needs that security?

Not even whether any of it’s true or not, because do I know if any of it’s true or not? No. No idea. Do I need to know if any of it’s true? Well, no. That need is not here, but it is here for, you know, maybe many or most people, the need to have some kind of security of the known there.

Well, obviously, the one who rises as I, the one who has the insecurity of being separated, the one who feels it’s going to die, is the one who wants to have some security in all of that.

««»»

This is not a judgment. This is not pointing out something that needs to be killed or anything like that. This is just, what’s going on here? Let’s notice. What is that need for the security of the known? Whether it’s karma, destiny, God’s will, my own will, whatever, cause and effect.

Well, I see this in a different way myself. Just for a moment, let’s be together. Just knowing now, pure being being this moment.

««»»

Can this moment be any different than it is?

If I don’t go into the mind that wants to understand something, if I just stay open, pure knowing being, why is this moment as it is?

There’s no answer.

Clearly, it simply is, as it is.

««»»

All ideas of destiny, karma, the will of God, cause and effect, my own free will and doership, all of those ideas, they’re pointless.

They have no relevance whatsoever to this moment.

««»»

They’re just desperately grasped straws of understanding because of the need for security. If that need for security is not here, then the one who needs that security is not here either, and vice versa.

If the one who needs that security of the known, those concepts, is not here, then those concepts are not here either.

They are one and the same. The need to know and the one who needs to know rise and fall together.

««»»

So what I say, the way I see it, is there’s nothing behind the curtain of this, now.

And what does that mean?

Well, a few things.

There’s nothing behind the curtain as far as time. There’s no past behind the curtain of now. There’s only now and nothing behind the curtain.

There’s no reason why this moment is as it is. It simply is. There’s nothing behind the curtain as far as a reason.

There’s nothing behind the curtain as far as an explanation, destiny, free will, God’s will, cause and effect, karma.

In this moment now, none of those apply, so there’s nothing behind the curtain as far as a reason for this moment to be as it is.

««»»

How is that for you? To hear that? To take that in?

Is it a threat to the one rising who needs that, to have some security in the known?

Just notice nothing to judge.

««»»

There can be a relaxation in the realization that none of those concepts apply, and there is nothing behind the curtain of this time, explanation, all of that.

If there’s a relaxation, it’s because the one who would be threatened by that is not rising in that moment, so there’s just relaxation,

a relief.

««»»

As with everything that I speak about, there’s no judgment. It’s just notice what’s going on.

That’s all.

If I have some concept like karma or destiny or free will or anything, then look and see, is it actually true? If I say it’s my karma or destiny or it’s the will of God or something, is it actually true? How can I possibly know that? I can’t know that.

It’s not knowable. None of that is knowable, is it?

You know what’s knowable? Here and now, pure aware of being. Knowing itself, that’s knowable,

with no description, no explanation, no understanding, and no one that needs any of that.

Like now for a moment.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake UP - Ep. 139 No Anticipation10 Sep 202600:06:40

Good morning, everyone.

Let’s just be here together, consciously aware of ourselves, pure being, aware, prior to the movements of mind and body.

««»»

And I want to remind you also, don’t wait for the next thing I’m going to say. Anticipation.

When there’s silence, just be nothing. And if there’s any anticipation or waiting for the next thing Sal is gonna say, just notice that.

And then just come back to pure being, because who knows when the next words will come. I don’t.

So, for a moment, let’s just be.

««»»

Any movement of waiting or anticipating just rises out of no thing. Just see that movement.

««»»

The body, mind, organism, it’s always constantly moving.

Sensations in the body and mental movements, thoughts, that’s its nature.

And so, nothing to do about that at all. Just continue knowing, open, aware, which is far vaster than any of those temporary movements.

««»»

I am always here as aware being.

Whether I’m just aware of myself as aware being, or whether I’m aware of any object that’s appearing, I still am the same aware being.

And so, know that, doubtlessly.

««»»

I think that’s all for today. Good to be with you, and I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 138 Ego is Like the Middleman Between Life and Itself09 Sep 202600:08:00

Good morning, everyone.

Any movement at all to get something, understand something, stop something like thoughts, to attain something, any movement to recognize something or to realize something… well, what is that movement?

It’s the very thing that’s being inquired into, isn’t it, ego. What would it be like in any moment to have no opposition whatsoever?

Because all of those things I just mentioned are in one way or another opposition to what is. It must be something else than this.

In a way you can say freedom is the ultimate relaxation.

Relaxing of the one who needs something different than this moment.

Because the one who’s seeking or the one who is looking for something or the one who wants something to be different than this moment is the very thing itself that’s in the way of this moment. In a way. Nothing’s ever in the way of any moment but at the level of experience, how your lived experience is, that one is the very thing that is, rhetorically speaking, blocking this moment.

««»»

In a moment when that rising questioner, seeker, inquirer is not here, then it’s over. There’s only this, no one in the middle.

Ego is like the middleman between life and itself.

There is actually nothing between life and itself, but ego comes in and splits life and acts like the middleman negotiating.

««»»

So the ultimate relaxation or surrender is that there’s no one here in the middle of anything, splitting anything, dividing anything, separating anything.

««»»

There’s no one here seeking anything, arguing with life, fixing anything, improving anything, trying to attain anything, that one is not here.

««»»

And what is this seamless, undivided, oceanic, itself only.

Nothing in everything.

No separation in there anywhere.

««»»

Even the one who’s trying to see this is that same separator.

««»»

It’s that which is dividing the undivided.

««»»

So without even trying to see anything or recognize anything, well, what’s to say about it?

Nothing.

««»»

Nothing can be said, not even jump, not even free fall, because even that introduces someone.

««»»

This moment is already undivided. There’s nothing in the middle of anything.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 137 Your Being is The Radiant Sun That Outshines and Illumines Everything and Denies Nothing.08 Sep 202600:08:10

Good Morning, Everyone.

Let’s see what we have today. Let’s just be together, just now, blown wide open, pure being, prior to any movements of mind.

««»»

When you are on holiday like this, it’s really clear to see that knowing permeates in and through and beyond this body.

There’s no inner or outer in this pure being.

There’s no line somewhere where it ends.

See that for a moment.

««»»

When, for the moment you’re on holiday, you don’t know yourself just as the body-mind, but you know yourself as this pure being. Then you can see also that not only pure being doesn’t end, in fact, I don’t end because I am that.

««»»

In this moment of knowing myself as pure being, I don’t deny the body is here. I don’t deny that sensations are here. I don’t deny that any of the sensory objects that are appearing are here. I don’t deny that thoughts are coming and going. I don’t deny any of that.

What I recognize and see and know is that I, pure being, outshine all of that.

««»»

I shine through and beyond all of these physically related appearances without ever denying any of them. But I permeate and shine like the sun outward in every direction. You can see this for yourself.

««»»

Like the sun doesn’t deny anything that it illumines, trees, the people, the planets, the sun doesn’t deny any of those, but it outshines all of it. Its radiant being is the most obvious, and illumines all of the objects of the world.

««»»

And it’s the same with the sun of your own being.

Your being is the sun of knowing. It’s the radiant sun that outshines and illumines everything.

And without which nothing would be known.

««»»

And so, being free or living freedom is to recognize that which outshines all of these experiences, that denies none of them, but simply is, always, eternally and ever-present in the midst of all experience and illumining all experience, what I am.

And to be that. And being that, you’re already home. You’re already free. Nothing is more to seek, attain. Nothing to transcend. Nothing to kill.

««»»

There’s no need to do any of those things because what I am already is pure being knowing that which outshines and illumines everything.

So there’s nothing to attain, only to know.

««»»

So now for a moment, let’s be together as that which outshines and illumines everything and denies nothing.

Be as you are.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 136 What About Birth? 07 Sep 202600:10:07

Good morning, everyone.

Yesterday, we inquired into death. If you haven’t had a chance to listen to that one, you can maybe do that. So today, why don’t we speak about birth?

What is birth? Were you born when you came out of the womb?

What was born actually then?

You were present in the womb, weren’t you?

By you, I mean life.

The body was also present in its different, ever-changing form, which hasn’t stopped until even now and continuing onward as well. But in the womb, you were there, life.

Before that, in the sperm and in the egg, you were there as well, life.

In your parents’ bodies, you were there, life.

In their parents’ bodies, back and back and back. Before humans, dinosaurs, life was present. And before them, more simple forms, life was present as well.

And so fast forward until the moment when this body came out of the womb and we say, I was born. I say nothing was born.

But let’s see, what can we say birth is actually, if anything?

When you first came out of the womb, and you don’t remember this, but you know anyway, and you see it in babies, there’s no self-identification yet at all.

There’s only blown wide open aware being. There’s no separate self yet.

There’s no I am consciousness either. There’s only pure consciousness with no I am.

And then after some time, your parents are talking to you and pointing at you and giving you a name and referring to you, you know, the body. And then eventually at some point it dawns on you, I am this, this separate thing here. I am separate. I am something.

Before that or prior to that, it was pure aware being, what I am prior to the admission that I am something separate.

So in that moment, you were born. Another way to put it is you took a birth of self.

And that was the first of millions of births of self that happened throughout the course of this body’s life. There isn’t just one birth of self. There’s continual appearance and disappearance of this self, constantly.

Well, Nisargadatta talks about, what were you prior to your birth? And he does say, what were you in the womb or before the womb? But we misunderstand that. We try to look back to what I was before that. What he’s trying to say is, what are you now before this birth of self happens, which is only now always?

So in each moment, I’m born as a self, or not.

So for a moment, let’s be prior to that birth of self, just knowing pure being, aware.

««»»

So as we saw yesterday, in no mind, there’s no time, meaning there’s no future. And if there’s no time and no future, then there’s no one here to have a future. And so there’s no one here that’s going to die in the future.

Maybe we can see that again now for a moment.

««»»

Well, likewise, in no mind there’s no time and there’s no past as well. And if there’s no time and no past, then there’s no one to have had a past and no one to have been born in the past either.

If there’s only now, you were not born in the past.

You’re born now when you know yourself exclusively as this separate self here, this I am something.

Then you take a birth of self.

And that’s always now, it’s not in the past.

««»»

So for now, let’s not have a past. No history. No birth.

««»»

I simply am.

There’s no birth and there’s no death in what I actually am, which is now.

There’s no birth and there’s no death in that.

««»»

Prior to the Rising I, there’s no time, there’s no past, there’s no future, there’s no birth, there’s no death.

Prior to the Rising I.

Like now.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 135 What About Death?06 Sep 202600:10:59

Good morning, everyone.

Well, I just came in to record something and I had no idea what I would speak about. And just as I was sitting down in front of the mic, I thought, well, what about death?

Why not? Let’s find out. Let’s be on holiday for a moment. Just blown wide open.

Pure aware being.

««»»

Pure aware being doesn’t deny anything that is appearing, body, sensations, sensory objects, and all of that, but it outshines all of it.

It’s the most obvious of anything. Let’s be there for a moment.

««»»

So let’s look into our own death. What is that? Many people think about death. Some people even very early in their young life for some reason start thinking about death. And everyone of course is concerned or fears for their own death.

But what is it really that dies? I’m not saying I know the answer. I’m saying let’s look and find out.

As with any other thought, as with any other idea, as with any other concept, as with anything related to time, where does any of that take place?

It’s all thought, isn’t it? Everything I just mentioned.

So where does past take place? Is past actual?

Look and see. Where is it?

Isn’t it true that what is, is only this, now?

Past is not actual, it’s a thought.

««»»

And future as well.

Where is future? Again, there’s only this, now. Future is only a thought.

So for a moment, don’t refer to any thought about time, past or future, and simply be pure being aware now, and then where is past and future?

««»»

Obviously they are not, because what is, is this.

And so, as relating to death, when is it that I am going to die?

In the future.

But as we just saw, other than the thought of a future, in truth, there isn’t a future, there is only this, what actually is.

So that thought of a future is only that, a thought, it’s not an actuality.

««»»

So the idea that I’m going to die in the future is exactly that, an idea, a thought.

And as with everything else we look into often, that idea or thought that I, that’s going to die in the future, is the rising I appearing out of pure knowing being.

This movement, this idea that claims itself to be I, but is really the phantom, because I am ever-existent now.

««»»

So, the I that fears its demise or death in the future is a thought.

««»»

Because of the first thought, which is the rising I, which is I am separate, the first thought, which is underneath every other thought, that first thought, because of that first thought, imposed on top of that is the subsequent thought, “I” am going to die.

But here now, blown wide open, pure being knowing that outshines everything. There is no thought of I. There is no future.

And there’s no I that’s going to die either.

««»»

What I’m saying sounds radical and it sounds extreme and of course the body is going to drop and all of that, but if you, for a moment, in a very radical way can be nothing, no thing, no thought, no rising I, pure being, pure aware, only that you see in that there is no death, because there’s no one there to die and no future in which that one will die.

Like now, let’s have a look. Radically no thing.

««»»

Really, truly, and in your own experience, there’s only now. That’s all there is, you know. That’s not a clever little anecdote or anything like that.

It’s simply what is, is now, you know.

««»»

When I rise as a separate self, immediately time rises with that. Past and future rise with that. And someone here who can die rises with that. And who will die in the future rises with that as well. And then fear comes, of course.

And understandably, of course.

But for a moment, jump off birth and death and be as you are, eternal life here and now.

««»»

Eternal doesn’t mean a long time or forever or what you become after death or something like that. Eternal just means now. It’s eternally this, eternally now.

Eternally I am.

And in that there’s no death.

««»»

Good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 134 When the One Who Has a Problem is Gone, The Problem is Gone05 Sep 202600:11:30

Good morning, everyone.

What is it that is dissatisfied with this moment as it is? That’s pretty obvious.

In the absence of the egoic movement, the rising I, the separative I,

like now for a moment, let’s just be pure aware of being.

««»»

Prior to the rising of that separative I, who is here to say anything is wrong with this moment or that something should be different?

««»»

If there’s no one here to say that something is wrong or something should be different, then nothing is wrong and nothing should be different.

««»»

In the rising I, which is the egoic movement, well, inherent in that is that there’s something wrong, because it’s an immediate sense of separation, of contraction, of opposition.

And so the rising I, that movement of ego, can never be truly satisfied or at ease. It can have moments of feeling satisfied when it gets something that it wants, you know, an object of the senses or a physical object or a little piece of intellectual information or something that soothes its sense of lack for a moment.

««»»

But that doesn’t last. There’s always the next thing, you know. Because as I said, inherent in the rising I is dissatisfaction, disconnection, separation.

««»»

True contentment or being at ease with this moment is not found there in the rising I, ego. It’s found in this moment itself. And this moment itself, here now, pure aware being is synonymous with I. I am this moment, pure aware being now.

It’s what I am.

Let’s see this for ourselves.

So have a moment prior to the rising I, pure aware being, synonymous with now.

I am that.

««»»

So if you recognize that and can abide as that for a moment, then you can also see that the one who has a problem with this moment isn’t here. In which case it means there is no problem with this moment.

Because that one is gone.

Like now.

««»»

As with everything I try to share or impart, it’s just to notice, just to see the functioning. I don’t like to make any hyperbolic statements that you must kill something or do this or kill that or get rid of something. No, just see what’s going on here.

The dissatisfaction with this moment as it is appears only with the one who is dissatisfied, the rising I.

««»»

The rising I is the dissatisfaction, and the dissatisfaction is the rising I. So true contentment and ease of being won’t be found there.

It’s found in what already is as what I am, my essential being, which is that peace, contentment and all of that.

««»»

And so I just say, for a moment, come back to the Heart.

The Heart meaning what I am prior to all of that. Not the physical heart. I mean the Heart of everything as it is. The true Heart. And be there for a moment.

And see that without the rising I, there’s really no problem.

««»»

And the point of my incessantly inviting you to be on Holiday is that you become convinced that this is what I am. This is my actual being.

So, instead of having to kill something, I recognize what actually is true, what I am.

And then I’m no longer so concerned with what arises either. Because I know, prior to all of that, all is well.

««»»

So be in the Heart, the Heart of everything, the source of it all, what I am, pure aware.

««»»

And then even the occasionally rising, dissatisfied I loses its sting. Because you can’t be so fooled, you know. Or you can’t be fooled at all.

Because you know.

Know what’s true, and truth will set you free.

What am I? What am I really? What am I eternally? What am I that’s always fine?

Come to know that.

And abide there more and more, and it will become doubtless.

So for a moment, let’s just be in the Heart, pure aware being.

««»»

All is well. It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 133 Ego is not an Entity, It is an Activity of Pure Being04 Sep 202600:11:35

Good morning everyone.

Ego is not an entity, a sentient thing.

Ego is a movement, an activity.

Let’s have a look. You can keep your eyes closed if you’d like.

Just rest now as pure aware being, for a moment.

««»»

This is pure knowing. Not of anything in particular. just the fact. knowing.

««»»

It’s the core of what I am. It’s that in which everything is known, all of the moving parts.

But I, knowing or aware, don’t move or change. I’m always there at the root of whatever is known.

So I suggest for a moment just be knowing or aware.

««»»

This what I am knowing doesn’t need anything other than myself to know myself.

I know I, Subject, Subject.

««»»

Out of this pure knowing, aware being, the objects of the five senses occur. Visual objects, auditory objects, touch, taste, smell objects.

Those objects occur. They’re the known. I am the knowing of those objects.

««»»

In and of themselves, those who don’t constitute go, just simply moving parts appearing in knowing.

So we just come back to knowing for a moment again.

««»»

Other moving parts are sensations of the body. You can now be aware of or know a plethora of sensations.

Have a look. Some subtle, some more gross.

««»»

Those are objects known.

Knowing, what I am.

««»»

Other moving parts or thoughts, these are also known objects, known within knowing, what I am.

««»»

And of course emotions as well, happiness, sadness, well, so many different emotions. Those are moving parts as well, known to myself, knowing.

««»»

In and of themselves, none of those moving parts are ego.

When I believe myself to be, when I act as if, when I know myself as any of those moving parts, which of course would be mostly thoughts and emotions and sensations of the body.

When I know myself as that, that’s an activity.

It’s arising out of no thing and acting as something.

««»»

Nothing wrong with that movement.

Just pointing out that that identification, that rising self, that ego, is not a sentient thing. It’s not an entity. It’s a rising movement, fleeting, ephemeral, temporal. A wave rising out of ocean of pure being and subsiding back into pure being.

And the entire time of its appearance, it is only pure being.

««»»

And it’s transparent. You can see through it just like you can see through clear blue water.

Permeating that rising I or ego is pure being, the Self.

««»»

There is no separate ego, which is good news because that means there’s nothing to kill or even transcend.

There’s only to notice and to know what’s actually happening.

Ego is not an entity or a thing or a sentient being.

Ego is simply a movement and activity arising like a wave out of the ocean of pure being, what I am.

««»»

And so for a moment, just be as you are, pure aware being.

And notice all of the different moving parts, sensory perceptions, sensations of the body, thoughts, emotions, and the rising of a so-called separate self.

All moving parts, all temporal, all temporary. Rising out of the ocean of myself.

And be that.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 132 A Good Question to Ask - What Am I, Prior to This?03 Sep 202600:09:10

Good morning, everyone.

A good question to pose for yourself, and this is just a possible, another means of coming to pure aware being.

So the question is, when you’re sitting here and something arises, thoughts or emotions, and you notice that’s happening, just ask yourself,

what am I prior to this?

No answer will come.

It’s not about having an answer. It’s about the mind and that sense coming to rest in favor of just being blown wide open, pure aware.

So let’s just sit here for a few minutes and just be as you are. And pose the question, when am I prior to this, whatever it is that’s appearing.

Just pose it once, though. Don’t linger on the thought there. But pose the question, when am I prior to this, whatever is appearing now? And just see.

It just will thrust you out into pure aware being, that question itself.

««»»

This is really a very good thing to do, especially for those moments when mind is very compelling, you know, a story is there or something that is really taking your attention away from pure being.

In that moment, just say, hey, what am I prior to this movement here? And that can stop whatever movement is happening for a moment.

Enough for you to come out into the sun and be pure aware being.

««»»

This is kind of a practical way to see something different in the midst of anything, but particularly in troubling moments.

««»»

In that case, when troubling moments happen, you can see those in a new light, in the light of a gracious movement of life, reminding you to turn around and know what you are prior to all of that.

So those troubling moments are very nice opportunities.

««»»

And you get to really see in those moments, without any judgment, well, what am I really devoted to? If I’m really devoted to freedom, then it’s here. I can have that in any moment. Even if the moment’s not feeling particularly good or whatever it might be, confusing, maybe some troubling emotion, even if it’s not feeling good, still in the midst of that, I can at least for a moment come out into the sun and see what I am prior to that.

««»»

And so then Bhakti is about being committed to living more like this, more open, more free, less hypnotized by those movements.

««»»

So then instead of being just wrapped up in this story of self, self-pity, self-judgment, self-blame, whatever it can be, you know, self-victimization, instead of being completely involved with that, real Self-love is the love of Self. That which is free in every moment.

What I am.

««»»

So this is living a life of devotion, really. And it’s a beautiful thing, actually. Devotion to truth, not with a capital T, but truth, the truth Being. I’m free in every moment, actually. I am aware being eternally, never changing. I know that I am. None of these things can be denied, actually. They’re true, you can see.

This way of living or this way of being is devotion to that, to truth.

««»»

So for a moment, let’s just be here sitting together. And when something appears, thoughts or a sensation or an emotion, intention goes there, just ask simply, what am I prior to this?

And don’t wait for any answer, just immediately you’ll come out into the sun, pure being.

««»»

And notice this throughout your day, of course. That’s where it counts, not only while you’re sitting here together with me, but it counts in your life.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 131 Freedom Is The Natural Human Condition of Health02 Sep 202600:08:17

Good morning everyone.

Let’s see what we have today.

««»»

Blown wide open. Pure knowing, pure being. I sound like a broken record, but really what more is there?

The way to be free is to recognize that what I am prior to the movements of mind and body and to be there.

««»»

If you recognize that I, pure being, prior to the movements of mind and body, are free, then the way to be free is to be free, like now.

««»»

Just notice the allure, completely habitual of the movements of the mind.

««»»

Notice the self-concern also. The me-me story.

««»»

Well, that’s really just what the rising I, ego does, of course, naturally. It’s narcissistic, obviously. That’s what narcissism is, no? So everyone is narcissistic in a way because everyone’s main interest is for self. And of course, that’s completely natural, isn’t it?

It’s even healthy to an extent to take care of oneself mentally and emotionally, all of those things, of course, not to deny. But, you know, we can be a bit obsessive, too self-interested in a way, you know.

So I just suggest attending to the Self that never changes, that is not localized or centered somewhere, that doesn’t need anything actually, you know.

My own essential being, you’re always. Let’s be that.

««»»

Just notice when too much narcissistic attention to one’s individual personal world, it’s kind of neurotic, no?

««»»

What I call freedom or liberation is the natural human condition of health. It doesn’t deny anything.

««»»

It abides mostly as that which is already pure health, pure contentment, pure happiness.

When something’s needed for body, mind, or whatever, fine. Then it’s addressed.

But when it’s addressed strictly from the carousel of itself, then it becomes neurotic, too self-focused. When it’s known in the larger context of what I am, then there’s a different perspective on all of that, isn’t there?

««»»

You can really have this different perspective by coming to know what you are at the source, pure aware being,

coming to know the value of what that is,

coming to see the difference between living from that largely and being neurotically self-focused,

Seeing the distinction there and becoming a Bhakta devoted to the healthy aspect of what I am, pure self-love.

Yes, this is a definite way of being, very easily available. And why not?

Like now.

««»»

Peace, silence, bliss. Nice, nice, nice.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up Ep. 130 An Endless Amazing Display of Form. What is the Source?01 Sep 202600:07:44

Good morning, everyone.

Let’s just have a day abiding as pure aware being.

««»»

You can have your eyes open or closed, whenever you prefer.

««»»

Consciously aware of the pure subjective knowing I am myself.

««»»

Just resting at the source before thoughts arise and all of that. Just being there.

««»»

This pure knowing being is always here. Always the same, doesn’t change.

««»»

Everything rising out of that is in constant change, constant movement.

««»»

All the different colors, flavors, textures of form.

««»»

An endless amazing display. Never ending, never the same from one moment to the next.

««»»

And yet I am the same always. Fascinating.

««»»

Your security, your safety, your wellbeing, your contentment is all here.

Always available completely.

««»»

So for this moment, just be that.

And notice it throughout your day as well.

««»»

This is self-love. This is bhakti. Devotion to your own well-being, health, goodness, purity.

««»»

So yeah, throughout the day, just recognize this again and again. No effort or pressure or force or anything like that. Just notice, that’s all. Notice that.

What is constantly changing and what always is.

Two sides of the same coin.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 129 With No Attributes at All, I AM31 Aug 202600:14:01

Good morning, everyone.

I wanted to share the opening holiday from yesterday’s open meeting on Zoom. So great to be with everyone. Very beautiful meeting, great people, excellent conversations also. But for now, this is just the opening holiday that I shared. Enjoy.

We’re just going to be together for a moment in a very simple recognition. Something that’s always true, always so obvious. So just for a moment now, very gentle, relaxed. Just allow attention not to rest on any object thoughts or sensations or any of the sensory objects, but just attend to your own self, pure aware being.

««»»

Simply know that you are, that’s all.

««»»

Not anything in particular, no name or anything, no story, no nationality, gender.

Just purely here now being.

««»»

I like to say relax the focus of attention. Relax is a good word. Relax attention. Attention is often attracted to something, contracting on something. Nothing wrong with that, but now we’re going to just relax that contraction.

Be purely open, knowing, aware.

««»»

Normally when we say I, we are referring to something, this body, this story of self, this limited ephemeral temporal object, that’s I.

But now when we say I, I want us to relax and go prior to all of that rising. Prior to that rising of self, pure aware being, I.

««»»

What am I when I’m not relating as my name?

««»»

What am I when I’m not relating as my opinions and beliefs?

««»»

What am I when I’m not relating as my history, story, past?

««»»

When I’m not referring to myself as anything, what am I?

««»»

I still am, obviously. I am.

««»»

Without any of those attributes of name and form, and history and opinions, With no attributes whatsoever. Pure aware being. I am.

««»»

I don’t need my name to be.

««»»

I don’t need my nationality to be, my skin color to be.

««»»

I don’t need my personal history and story to be.

I don’t need any of that to be, do I?

So I say for a moment, be nothing of that, just simply aware.

««»»

Prior to thought, I am.

««»»

I don’t need thought to know I am.

««»»

I don’t need any concept or idea to know I am.

««»»

I don’t need anything other than myself, I am, to know I am.

Pure subject, no object needed.

Pure subject, knowing myself. Can’t be denied. Doesn’t need anything else. Doesn’t need anything else. I simply am.

««»»

Doesn’t need a name, doesn’t need any of that, nothing.

Pure being.

Pure subject.

««»»

Prior to the rising I that has all of its attributes, name and form and ideas and history, beliefs, opinions, all of it, myriad attributes,

prior to that rising I that has those attributes prior to that,

I am.

««»»

And so for a moment, let’s just be that.

««»»

The good news is this is always the case, always the case, always the case. Mostly we’re just not aware of it, but when we’re aware of it, it’s the most obvious thing in the world. Nothing can be more obvious.

And the most simple also. So that was from yesterday’s open meeting.

««»»

I think it’s a good introduction to what a holiday is. It’s good to be with you.

I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 128 Discerning Between The Eternal and the Temporal, and Why?29 Aug 202600:10:34

Good morning, everyone. Let’s see what’s here today.

I often say, Holiday reveals everything.

So, let’s find out what it’s going to reveal. Let’s see. Okay.

Let’s be together, Holiday.

You know what that is. Pure, aware of being.

««»»

One of the most important tenets of Vedanta and Indian teachings is called Viveka, which means to discriminate. Well, to just speak very metaphorically, to discriminate between what’s true and what’s false.

And that’s equally true for our work. I don’t use the word true or false, but the point being be able to discern between what I actually am, alive, now, sentient, vibrant with being, and what appears as I, which is the time-based story of self replete with enormous amount of attributes. Birth and death, for example. Fears and desires, opinions and preferences, hopes.

The thing about all of those attributes Of course, when they’re appearing, they seem, and for all intents and purposes, are very real, no question. Not to deny that. But each and every one of those is gone instantly when you come to know your essential, timeless being, which is free of attributes.

Like now, for example.

««»»

So it’s not about saying those things don’t arise and those things don’t have their own validity. What it’s about is what do we put our main being and existence on? Do we put it on the fleeting, ever-changing, suffering-inducing, appearing self that has really, in truth, no actual substance to it, all of that mind activity?

Or do we put most of our value on the eternal, content being that we always are?

So this is where Viveka or discrimination comes in, discernment. To see this and to live more like this.

««»»

So a Holiday, for a moment, is to be that which is eternal, always true, always actual, always what I am prior to any characteristics.

Like now.

««»»

The reason it’s so important to have Viveka or discrimination is to see the spell that’s cast by mind, and to break that spell.

Unless we know what that is, that spell of self, that hypnotizing movement, unless we know that very clearly, and also know an alternative, that which is alive prior to that, what I am, then we really have no chance of being free, do we?

««»»

The difference is very clear. This is in your own experience.

««»»

So it’s good to see this. It’s good to know this. And it’s good to come out into the sun more and more. Make that part of your life experience, daily, ordinary life lived experience. Not a big deal, not a practice, just a new way of being.

««»»

The more you live like this, the more it’s just, you know, you’re convinced, I’m free. Doesn’t matter what’s coming and going.

Doesn’t matter where attention is going. Doesn’t matter if there are thoughts and all of that. Because you’re convinced, you’re free and you become convinced by living this more and more and really discerning the difference between the two and coming to know doubtlessly that what I actually am is now, here, alive, aware, sentient being.

This is what I actually am.

And so then the appearances are fine, no problem.

So for a moment, let’s be together. Pure aware being.

««»»

And come to this throughout your day, no matter what you’re doing. Really very simple, isn’t it? Very natural, very ordinary.

It’s the end of you in a way, the end of the seeker. The end of the separative divisive movement of self. You can see that for sure.

««»»

Pure aware being. True now, true always, true for everyone.

««»»

Good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 127 Form Is Transparent. Being Permeates Everything28 Aug 202600:13:02

Good morning, everyone.

Let’s look into the solidity of objects or form. When I say objects or form, I mean everything that’s perceivable, the body, its sensations, thoughts, emotions, the sensory objects, and also ego. Which is as well an object.

So, let’s have a holiday for a moment. Be together here. Pure aware being, as we saw yesterday. Just pure aware being.

««»»

When we’re being as that, it’s easy, I think, to recognize that there is no inside or outside. I don’t stop at the skin line or something like that and then the world begins.

My actual being permeates everything, doesn’t it?

You can say everything is permeated with being. And that being is one, it doesn’t end somewhere, not centralized somewhere or located anywhere.

Try to recognize that now.

««»»

Just notice the body, which is myriad sensations. It’s really, well, have a look.

Maybe close your eyes for a moment and see what this body is. Is it actually solid or isn’t it more like a field of myriad sensations and movements, energies, subtle.

Have a look at that.

««»»

If you can avoid the picture the mind wants to paint of a body sitting here, and that’s a very normal thing for the mind to do. But in your own actual direct knowing experience, what shape is the body?

Isn’t it just a field of energetic sensation, movement, energies, subtle, a little bit more gross?

««»»

Just notice that really, see.

««»»

It’s really a spacious field permeated by being. Not solid. And this is your own experience, you see for yourself.

««»»

Being also doesn’t end anywhere. What skin line? Skin? Line? What?

Hmm?

Really?

««»»

Other than the mind’s painting of that, but in truth, see for yourself, what skin line?

««»»

In truth, the body is more transparent than solid, isn’t it? See for yourself. Being bursts right through all of it. Not stopping somewhere.

««»»

So really, you can see for yourself, the body is transparent. Being permeates the body.

It is, through the body.

Being is, through the body, permeating the body with no end.

««»»

You can open your eyes, all of the visual objects, whatever’s in your environment now, permeated with being.

««»»

Being is ubiquitous. Being is what I am at the root, the core, the source, the essence.

««»»

Aware being, permeating the body and beyond.

Permeating all of the sensory objects and beyond.

««»»

Even thoughts and emotions.

When thoughts are there, being permeates those thoughts as well. You might not consciously be aware of it at first, but there are many times when you are. Often there are just thoughts going in the background, somehow you’re not really attending to the thoughts. They’re there, but you’re not really paying attention And in those moments especially you can see being permeates all of that.

Thoughts are transparent in that way as well, like the body.

««»»

You can even begin to notice more and more, even the more compelling thoughts. They’re not solid. The more you know yourself as aware being, the less you, well, I don’t know, fall for it or something like that, I guess.

And the more you begin to recognize that I am here, a present aware being throughout the thoughts as well.

««»»

Emotions also. Anger appears, it’s permeated by aware being, it’s transparent. Even that, any of the emotions, sadness, depression, happiness, joy, excitement, fear, whatever it might be, jealousy, all of it is permeated by me.

Aware being.

Transparent.

««»»

So what to do about this? Nothing. Except, keep coming to know yourself as aware being. Abide more and more as that.

Be gentle about it. Don’t judge yourself if you get so-called lost in thoughts for a while. It doesn’t matter. But gently come back to pure aware being. Often.

««»»

Make this be your way of being more and more.

««»»

Like now, what I am,

pure where-being permeating everything.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 126 Pure Aware Being and Non Duality27 Aug 202600:11:43

Good morning, everyone.

I thought today we can just really abide as pure aware being, really come to know that more and more, see its profound nature, its value, and really recognize more and more that that’s what I am.

That’s who I am at source.

So for a moment, just allow attention to be open.

««»»

Prior to any movements of the body or the mind, all of which are fine, but prior to that, we’re just attending to ourself.

««»»

So, what do I mean by pure aware being?

Well, aware, we can’t deny that, right? Aware is not a thing or an object like awareness or something, but just simply aware.

Can’t deny that, right?

««»»

And being, you can’t deny that you are, I am.

Not I am this or I am that, simply, I am. This is being, isn’t it?

««»»

So, aware being. Two aspects of you, that are really the same.

««»»

And I say pure because this is stainless, spotless, untouched by any movements of body or mind.

««»»

Pure aware being has no name, has no form, has no color, texture, time, history, opinions, preferences, beliefs, fears, worries, birth or death, Pure Aware Being. Just now, for a moment, be that.

««»»

All of those attributes that I mentioned come with the rising I.

««»»

You can see that for yourself.

If you’re just here, pure aware being, and I say, for example, “there’s no fear in pure aware being.”

Then you say, “yes, but I noticed some fear. “This is just one example. You can choose whatever you want. But I noticed some fear.

Okay. Where is that fear arising?

««»»

It’s arising as an attribute of the rising I. The self-ego that sees itself as an individual, separate.

««»»

Or if you say, “okay, you say pure aware being has no time, no past, but what about my past?”

Okay. Again, where is that past appearing? What is that past attributed to? The rising I, of course.

««»»

The rising I is the ego, separative self, all of that. The one that has a story. The one that has history.

But right now, pure aware being.

««»»

If you can recognize this as what I am eternally, prior to rising as a separate I, but what I am eternally, if you can recognize that, then you can also say,

I have no history.

I only am.

««»»

Is that clear? I think for most people.

««»»

So a holiday is to know myself not as the rising I with its attributions, its separation from everything else, not to know myself as that, but to know myself prior to the rising of that, pure aware being.

««»»

And so, I say, know yourself in a little different way than you’ve known before.

««»»

No need to deny anything.

The body, thoughts, emotions, experiences, sensory perceptions, no need to deny anything. Those all are here arising just as wave rises out of the ocean. When a wave rises out of the ocean, what you’re looking at is ocean with the name wave on it.

So when you look at yourself, body, mind and all of that, what you’re looking at is source rising as whatever is rising in this moment in form and appearance.

««»»

This is what I say is non-duality.

I’m not just awareness.

I’m awareness and also the rising body-mind. The rising body mind is source in appearance. Not two.

««»»

So for a moment, let’s just be, pure aware being

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 125 Do I Have to Kill the Ego?26 Aug 202600:17:09

Good morning, everyone.

You know, it doesn’t really matter if attention is going to objects. It’s very natural for that to happen, even thoughts.

The main event really is to be convinced completely that my timeless aware being is eternally here. And that really the movements of life, whether they’re pleasant or unpleasant, are okay. That is what life is, embodied life.

So, it’s not about never having thoughts or never having attention go to an object or something like that.

If we have that idea, then there is someone here who has a problem. And that problem being, “oh no, I was attending to something for the last five minutes or two hours”, or whatever. So there must be something wrong. And so that’s not what we’re doing.

Having said that, and without any pressure or force, coming out into the sun of pure aware being, my eternal essential nature, is good.

Well, in your own experience, you know, and I think that’s what we’ll talk about today, in your own experience, release from the contracted attention to self is very good, isn’t it? Let’s just face it, you know.

Because there you recognize contentment.

Nothing is lacking, everything’s complete and whole.

This is what I am.

You recognize you’re a really true essential being which is complete and whole and lacking nothing and really has no fear and has no birth and death either.

It’s simply aware being now.

And so yes, it’s good to be as that a lot.

Let’s do that now for a moment.

««»»

You’re immediately off the carousel of endless movement, endless insecurity, endless projection, fear and desire, worries and problems, hopes and desires, all of that.

When we have a holiday, we’re immediately off of that carousel.

Let’s have another moment of that.

««»»

If you recognize this pure aware being as your core, really, or your root, or your source, or whatever, your essence, what I am, then you recognize really the contentment and ease of being, and end of seeking anything in the world. Just a contentment of being.

««»»

It’s good for that to be very clear for you.

It’s very experiential, isn’t it? This is really your experience of living, of life, of what I am, can be this.

««»»

And the other thing that’s important to recognize is the experience of rising with the I and the carousel involved with that.

When we rise with the I and get into that whole world, of self, with time, past and future, story of me, good me, bad me, hopes, fears, desires, concerns and worries, life and death, well, that’s a very different experience, isn’t it?

««»»

And that experience, or that self, that story, is, it’s really a phantom, isn’t it? It’s not an actual being, because actual being is what I am, actual being, being is what I am. Rising as self is a movie projected on the screen of being.

And just like a movie on the screen in a theater, the movie is only shadow and light. it has no actual substance. The only real substance there is the screen.

The only substance of you is pure aware being.

««»»

So again, using the discernment of seeing the difference between those two makes you realize that just falling for that story and being thrown around by it is silly, really, you know? It’s, of course, what my whole life has been, what the life of human consciousness has been due to the fact that we haven’t known anything different, so there’s no fault.

But really having the discernment to see what’s going on there and to see how much our experience of life and also our response and reaction in life as well, how we live this life, how much it’s affected by that story, which is shadow and light, has no actual substance and is a phantom.

How much does that affect our experience of being and our way of being as well in the world?

««»»

And so, to circle back to what I said earlier, to have the idea that you’re never going to attend to that rising I story is not so realistic, perhaps. What’s more realistic and very doable is to know the difference between pure aware being, which is actual who I am and the phantom story that rises that I get caught up with and in and act in this world as.

To know the difference between the two, discernment.

And so, even without killing that rising I and having it never rise again, even without that happening, because you know what’s going on between pure aware being and the phantom I, you know it brings a different quality to your life and your being just by that fact of knowing this and being convinced and doubtless that my essence is pure aware being.

That’s what I am. And this rising phantom I is not even a problem, is it? No problem.

Let it come, let it go.

««»»

I hope I’m getting my point across here because I don’t want to give the impression that you have to be on Holiday 24 hours a day. If you never have another thought again for the rest of your life, that’s all good and well. It’s not realistic nor even necessary.

So what I want to say is that you’re free regardless of the so-called rising I, which actually isn’t an I. It’s a phantom I. It’s not really I.

What I am is a where-being. And I rise like a movie on a screen as shadow and light, and I call that myself.

And fine, no problem.

««»»

The Bible says “know what’s true and truth will set you free”, which means know what’s true and knowing this will set you free. It doesn’t say,”kill the ego and killing the ego will set you free.”

You’re already free.

Ego is just a phantom. And fine.

Again, let it come, let it go.

But know yourself truly, genuinely, and doubtlessly at your root, which is pure aware being, what I am.

And then you will see your life will come to more ease, more peace, more contentment, less fear, less desire, less worry.

More surrender to what is, and without denying any movements, living this life fully as well, you know.

««»»

Let’s have a holiday for a moment, pure aware being prior to the rising of the phantom I.

««»»

Secure, safe, home, fulfilled, complete, content, happy. That’s what I am.

Always.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 124 The Invitation of the Subtle, Silent Vibration of Peace 25 Aug 202600:12:37

Good morning, everyone.

Leaving everything as it is, thoughts, sensations, emotions, sensory objects, not trying to do anything at all with any of that. What’s behind all of it?

««»»

Words are imperfect, of course, so the word behind or prior to can never really be accurately describing, but as an invitation.

So for a moment, just leave everything as it is. Don’t do anything.

««»»

Just to be behind, prior to, beneath, all of that.

««»»

When you’re just resting as or abiding as that, it’s very natural for there to be a palpable vibration of silence or peace. It manifests in the body actually as a subtle, pleasant vibration in a way.

««»»

The body is only energetic movement, isn’t it? Vibration in a way. And it vibrates at more and more gross levels, you know, thoughts and sensations and all of that.

But the subtlest level of its vibration, you can say the first touch of the manifestation of the body is a very subtle, well, dare I say, blissful silence.

««»»

If you take a little time to relax, be gentle, continue to take attention away from the moving objects of thoughts and sensations and all of that, and just rest it on your own subjective being, you’ll likely sense or experience that what I’m speaking about.

««»»

And while attaining a state of silence or bliss or peace is not the goal, because in truth I’m the knowing of that as well, so even prior to that subtle movement I am, it’s very good to come to know this because it invites you to turn attention to yourself prior to the moving mind, body and all of that and be silent, be still.

««»»

So the invitation of this subtle, silent vibration of peace is to just take attention back to yourself and be there.

««»»

And nothing needs to be denied for that at all.

««»»

So I would invite you to just be prior to the rising, divisive, separating, limiting movement of self and to just be as you are, to be still.

««»»

This stillness, what you are, is fully alive. It is life itself. It’s the source of all of the arising movements. And it vibrates with life. And it vibrates with life now, eternally.

««»»

And it vibrates as I as well.

I, free of name and form.

Of time, past and future.

Free of story of self.

Free of all of the manifold attributions of that story of self.

Simply to be, I.

««»»

So it’s good to touch into this. You can listen to these audios, which is hopefully helpful for that. And also just sit by yourself sometimes, or you don’t have to be sitting. Walking is a great way to tune into this, actually.

Really anything you’re doing.

««»»

Don’t deny any movement, any movement of the body, any movement of the mind, nothing. Just simply be that which is behind it all. Always present.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 123 Effort and Taking A Stand24 Aug 202600:14:51

Good morning, everyone.

We had a really great mini-intensive this weekend. I think 56 people came. And it was about three hours each night. First couple of hours really immersing in timeless aware being, which was quite powerful. And then we had some really nice conversations after that also. So thank you very much everyone for coming.

I really enjoyed being with you all. I’ll likely hold a full seven-week online intensive beginning in November, just to mention. One topic that came up last night, which I thought would be good to inquire into today together, My intention is only and always to, as best as I’m able, reveal something.

I don’t want to talk about enlightenment or philosophize about anything. Give some great new beautiful sentences or concepts or any, that doesn’t interest me. What does interest me and my only interest really is to hopefully use a few words to crack open a light in your own knowing and being.

And then whatever words are used are not important at all. It’s the recognition that’s important. And I think most people that come to work with me realize that and also get that as well.

And honestly, for many people, if not most people, the recognition is quite simple. Rarely is there someone that really can’t recognize what I’m trying to point to. For the most case, we can recognize it, you know, because it’s very simple. It’s your own essential being, so it’s actually quite simple and obvious as well. But that’s the easy part. That’s the beginning.

Turns out it’s also the end. But because of habits of the mind and doubts and centuries and millennia old human conditioning, although with yes, extremely simple, it’s not as simple as having one recognition and being finished. So as I say, the recognition is the beginning, but it’s also the end. Although we don’t really know it’s the end yet. But we will. We’ll realize that.

So what’s required?

The human condition for everyone is that mind is very distracting, alluring, compelling, invasive even. And it seems like a struggle to not engage with the mind. And, of course, yes, that’s true.

So, paradoxically, in a way, the recognition is effortless. But, for it to become really doubtless and really the locus of your being takes what can appear to be, and for all intents and purposes is, effort.

Because as I said, we’re going against the millennia old human condition of being attracted and compelled by mind and thoughts.

So, what’s the effort involved?

Well first I say it’s very important to have a clear recognition of your timeless aware being and then secondly to see the really vast difference between that and our normally confused limited experience of being. When we really start seeing the difference, then we begin to value this recognition of freedom more. And in that itself, we become more attracted to that and more desirous of that.

So that’s the natural aspect, the natural way, or the natural part of this.

So I try to make it clear the beauty and the value of this recognition of timeless aware being, fully content, at peace, at rest, fulfilled, whole, complete, seeking nothing, lacking nothing. When we see that naturally, we become more attracted to it. And as I say, even fall in love with it more and more. And then naturally we’re drawn to being that way.

And yet even still, we have to admit, there is still tremendous pull towards attraction to the mind.

And because of our many years and eons of falling for that and not taking a stand in freedom, we have, in a way, a weakness that makes us succumb to the mind very easily. And we can see for ourselves, when the mind barks, you jump, let’s be honest, you know.

Everything’s very, very interesting in there, isn’t it?

Just be honest, yes, everything’s very interesting in my mind, you know. My mind, wow, my mind is so interesting. So yeah, we’re very interested in what goes on in there, you know.

And it’s good to just notice that.

So what to do?

Well, really being tired of all of that is a very good place to be, or fed up.

And then coming to the point where we, you know, in a way, take a stand and say, no, I’m going to be free. Because I know what that is. I have recognized it so clearly, you know, it’s so obvious. So no, I’m going to take a stand in freedom. I’m going to not follow every thought that comes into my mind. And as soon as I notice that I’m following those thoughts, I’m going to come out into the sun of pure being, pure timeless aware being.

And I’m going to notice how attracted I really am in there still. Something’s very interesting, you know.

And I’m going to notice that quite often I succumb as well.

But I’m going to notice also that the truth is I don’t have to succumb to that.

I can say freedom, that’s what I want. And when that happens is now always. It’s always now. It’s always whenever the mind starts attracting or compelling. That’s when that movement of freedom is essential.

That’s where the rubber meets the road. And we see which way did we go in this moment.

And you know what?

No judgment. This is not a judgment at all. I don’t judge anything. The human condition is as it is. There’s no fault of yours or mine or anyone. So it’s not to judge. It’s to see and notice. That’s all. To see how I operate. To see what is compelling. See what makes me succumb. And that’s all.

One thing liberation is definitely not is a magic wand. It’s not gonna just happen. Otherwise it already would have.

And it’s not that the teacher or the person sharing the message or whatever you go to, the guru or the master, can wave their hand over you and have you be enlightened all of a sudden. It doesn’t work that way. Someone like me, as I said, wants to reveal something for you in your own being.

And that’s possible. That can be done.

That’s as far as I can do, really.

I can hopefully help make a little crack of light for something to shine through that you recognize, that’s your own recognition, your own knowing within you, nothing to do with me. It’s your own being. That I can do, hopefully. I can also point out or let it be seen how really beautiful and valuable this recognition is.

That I can also hopefully do as well.

But what I can’t do is live freedom for you.

That’s totally, completely up to you.

And so, in that case, it can look like effort is needed. But it’s a little, you know, the word effort can seem very doership-y, like I’m the doer now all of a sudden. But it’s not really, that’s not really what it is, because whatever effort comes up is also not created by anyone here. It’s here. The effort is here.

Why?

Because for whatever reason, you want freedom, you’re fed up with so-called bondage, you’ve recognized a new way that’s possible, and out of that arises the intention, or the effort to take that stand in freedom.

And so yeah, we can’t wait around for the magic wand or the lottery of enlightenment to strike our heads.

It doesn’t work that way.

It works by being devoted to freedom, to truth, to the love of self, the real love of self.

It takes falling in love with pure being.

Seeing the value of that and the difference to discern between that which is essentially true and eternal now and that which is fleeting and ephemeral and causes birth and death and suffering.

And so yeah, everyone who was on the intensive, really so happy to have been with you, that’s wonderful. You have the audios to listen to.

Listen again, and you know, know freedom is really, you can have that, you can have that. You just have to, as I just explained, you know, take a stand, you know.

If you’re listening to this and you weren’t on the intensive, many of these audios are available to listen to if you’d like to. They’re all pointing to the same thing.

So you can listen to these audios. Or come to open meetings, talk to me there. Or if you’re inclined to join a future intensive also.

Freedom is for you. Have it. You can have it.

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 122 At The Root I Am Aware Being23 Aug 202600:12:22

Good morning everyone.

At the core or root of every experience, every appearance, is the one aware being that is myself at essence.

Let’s be on holiday for a moment. Pure being knowing.

««»»

Aware or pure being, but let’s say aware, is constant and here through all experiences. And also through all three states, waking, dream and deep sleep.

««»»

And so on a holiday, we just simply attend to pure being aware. And be that for a moment.

««»»

This is what I am always, whether I’m consciously aware of it or not. And I know it’s what I am always, because anytime I care to notice, here I am again, the same aware being.

««»»

And through every experience before, during and after, I am the same aware being.

««»»

So it can be said that what I am at the root or at the heart is aware being. That’s what I am always. And at the same time, I appear as the ever-changing form. Body, mind, thoughts, emotions, sensations, sensory objects.

I appear as that.

««»»

But my eternal being is simply aware. My ever-changing appearance is the myriad forms, colors, shapes, names that are in constant movement.

««»»

And there’s no problem with the form, with the changing aspects of body and mind.

It’s not something to get over or get rid of or kill or transcend.

The only issue or problem, I guess, is that I’ve come to know myself as exclusively that changing aspect. And I’ve reified that into an actual being that has some substance, solidity and permanence.

It’s become the main event of what I am.

And by doing that, I’ve limited myself to something that was born and something that will die.

««»»

And I suffer along with the ups and downs of that, fears and desires of that movement. The gains and the losses of that movement.

Because I’ve come to know myself exclusively as that, and erroneously as well, because I am not exclusively that, at all.

What I am eternally is aware being.

««»»

The word Shivashakti, one word, points to what I am. I am Shiva, the unmanifest, appearing as Shakti, the manifested energy. I am both.

««»»

Knowing myself as aware being, the core, the root, the essence, doesn’t deny the Shakti aspect of what I am either. It means I abide as my eternal being while enjoying the manifested rising of the person.

««»»

And no longer thinking there’s something to be fixed here, or changed, or transcended. No longer arguing with this particular person, which happens to have a name attached to it, in this case called Sal. No longer arguing with that.

Sal as the person, Sal manifesting as it is in each moment, cannot be anything other than it is.

So why argue?

««»»

When we live exclusively as that, then we have to argue with it and we have to fix it and correct it and change it and transcend it and get over it.

But when we live as our root essence, timeless, eternal being, then we know we don’t have to fix anything and we no longer argue with the person that’s appearing.

««»»

It’s good news because you don’t have to get rid of anything, change anything, transcend anything either, none of that. Just simply notice what you are at the core, that’s all.

Very simple. And abide there, have that be your main place of abidance.

And then that’s what you are. You are that.

So for a moment, know my self-aware being.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 121 Let's Be On Holiday Together22 Aug 202600:07:22

Good morning, everyone.

Why don’t we just sit together today? I’m not even going to say anything after I just open up the holiday. And then we’ll just be together. For how long? I don’t know. Don’t wait for me to speak or anything like that. Let’s just see.

Just attend to pure being, your own essential nature.

Just be that. While you’re doing that, notice the movements of mind coming in, notice the distractions, notice the things that pull your attention and distract you from attending to yourself.

And then very gently, when you notice that, just come back to pure being again. Know yourself as the source of all of that.

And just be there, very relaxed, very easy.

Everything will come, everything will go,

and you remain.

So, for a moment, let’s be on holiday together.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 120 Why Does It Seem Difficult to Abide as Pure Being?21 Aug 202600:11:29

Good morning everyone.

What is the resistance to just being? What is the pull that seems to take us away from that?

Is there a sense that something is being overlooked or neglected? Avoided? Not given value?

Is it the idea that there is something very important in the mind that needs to be attended to?

Is it this idea of ego that doesn’t want to relent, lose its own status, its own dominance as the center, the locus of attention?

Is there, as is with many people with traumatic backgrounds or PTSD, those movements when they appear are very powerful and demand a lot of attention, and rightfully so.

So, is there like a sense of loss if I’m not attending to the movements of the mind, the story of myself? Is there a feeling of losing something there?

It can even maybe be a feeling of sadness, like losing a friend or losing a loved one or something, or losing myself.

Those are all very valid things that I just mentioned.

There are things in the human experience, trauma and PTSD and all those things that can be benefited by attention to them, by modalities to help in some way give some peace, some relief to alleviate that pressure to somewhat of an extent anyway, or maybe largely.

And so in that case, just being on Holiday can seem trite in a way. And, as if you are ignoring something important or not dealing with something or denying something. And that can be the case, perhaps.

But other than severe trauma or PTSD that is extremely compelling, everyone has things in their lives that are challenging or even traumatic. Everyone, no one goes through life unscathed.

So, leaving aside the extremes for now, for someone who wants to come to know peace and freedom, living freedom is very powerful means, no question about it.

And if there’s a sense of loss, like I’m losing something or neglecting something, and again, if it’s not something very extreme, if there’s a sense of loss from neglecting something, then have a look, is what I seem to be neglecting really so important? Is the sense of loss just that personal movement of ego, recognizing that it’s doomed, basically?

Ego, the personal self, what I am, what I’ve thought myself to be my whole life is kind of like my best friend.

To be ready and willing to be what you are prior to that can seem like losing a friend in a way for some people.

Because ego is like your doppelganger, isn’t it? It’s the image of yourself in form, closer than a twin, closer than an identical twin. It seems to be you. And so, living free of that is like losing yourself. Or it can be, anyway.

We have this idea that we should not ignore or bypass or deny.

We have to attend to it. So, and again, as I said, for, you know, people with extreme trauma or PTSD, of course, ignoring isn’t going to do anything. It’s not going to help. Although I’ve worked with people with severe trauma who have been benefited greatly by this work, so there’s no one way.

But for the most of us, whatever level of psychological confusion is there, we can attend to that which is prior to that, of course. But we find ourselves to be very compelled or interested with the movements of mind, very habitual, deeply ingrained. So, no fault.

Which is why as simple as this work is, as simple as this message is, as simple as the recognition itself is, it’s not trivial to actually live this. One needs to be devoted, really devoted to their own freedom, their own contentment and peace more than they’re devoted to the movements of personal self as mind.

I want to present what I know to be or consider to be the highest potential and for those who resonate and are ready to live that more and more, and I don’t at the same time deny that other modalities can be needed or necessary for some people. And even after having a recognition as I share, even if it’s very clear, and even if it’s doubtless, still if there are some things that need to be straightened out, okay, then do that, of course.

But if it’s not so strong as to be debilitating, Then I say, take yourself seriously and live freedom.

And I say, if you’re ready to live freedom, then do that for sure. Do it, you know.

Just notice, as always, in your own laboratory, this body-mind, which is your laboratory, just notice the interest in the movements of mind, the movements of personal self, the movements of personal story, the movements of time, past and future. Just notice those movements and the interest in attending to those. That’s all.

Not a judgment. Simply notice. That’s all.

And when you notice, come out into the sun of pure being and simply be here free of it.

Free of the personal self.

Free of the story of me.

Free of the past and future story of me.

Free of, you know, even the traumas. And just be.

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 119 Surrender20 Aug 202600:15:55

Good morning, everyone.

Surrender.

I heard from a friend today who has many life changes happening now, wondering how to navigate that and having the feeling of the need to control the outcome.

Very natural, isn’t it? For all of us, of course.

Let’s be on holiday for a moment.

««»»

Timeless

Essential

Innate Being

Already Home

Complete

Fulfilled

Content

Maybe you recognize that.

««»»

Always here as well, whenever we care to notice.

««»»

The desire or need to control our life’s circumstance and situation is, of course, the need for the promise of security, the promise that everything’s going to be okay, the promise that I’m okay. And then I’m going to be fine.

««»»

The Play of Leela, the Maya, the world of form and all that appears, it’s constantly changing. There’s never security in that at all. There’s never stability in that at all. Everything is in constant movement, flux, change. Anything can be gained or lost in any moment. Always, you know for yourself.

««»»

So, while it’s understandable to seek security in the known, of course, “I know what’s going to happen. I can control what’s going to happen. It will end up the way I want it to end up.”

Very natural, of course, because that which wants that security is the rising I itself that is inherently not secure.

««»»

And so you, rising as the personal self, immediately feel insecure and seek some kind of security in the known.

««»»

But the truth is nothing is known. Everything can end right now, finished, over, done.

««»»

So, all of the teachings and religions speak about surrender. And it’s true. But what does it mean?

You can’t choose to surrender, you can’t do surrender. If so, it can often feel like, okay, I give up, it’s hopeless, it’s useless, you know, that kind of dejected mindset.

But that’s not true surrender.

Let’s have a holiday.

««»»

Here and now, prior to the rising I, unborn being.

««»»

What a holiday is, is the surrender of ego, the surrender of the rising I. That’s what a holiday is, for a moment.

««»»

But more importantly is to recognize in this holiday that I am perfectly fine, fulfilled, whole, complete, content.

««»»

I’ll never find those things in the world of form, in and of itself, in the acquiring or attaining the desire or wish of ego, of my personal I-self. Because that’s completely temporal, ephemeral, fleeting.

I’ll never attain security there.

««»»

It’s already attained as myself. That’s the only place it’s ever attained.

So surrender is knowing that.

««»»

One interesting thing to note is that however many years you’ve been here alive as this body-mind, how many things have you lost? How many things have gone your way or not gone your way? How many things have come and gone?

And how are you now in this moment? Look right this moment on holiday, how are you?

««»»

Well, if you’re resting as your timeless being, you know you’re completely fine, don’t you?

««»»

How much worry and concern and fear have you gone through in your life over the gaining and losing of those objects?

And look at yourself now, fine. So, what happened?

««»»

If your peace and contentment is dependent on the outcome of a wish or desire, well, then, you know, you’re in trouble.

For one reason, then you’re projecting, constantly projecting into the future how it’s going to be later when I get what I want, when things are in the particular order that I want them to be in. But, you know, if that happens, it’s a coincidence, but quite often that’s not the way it happens, is it?

««»»

Surrender is knowing there is no control over the future, over the events of life. There’s no control over any of that. Again, sometimes something happens that matches with my desire for it, but quite often that’s not the case.

««»»

Surrender is knowing that there actually is no control, and being not only fine with that, but being very happy with that. Because it’s the end of the one who needs control.

You see, surrender is not the rising I surrendering. Surrender is the end of the rising I that needs to be in control.

Like now, for a moment, let’s be on holiday together, unborn.

««»»

This moment now is surrender.

Value freedom, value your own self, true self-love, love of my essential innate being, the true self of all, the source of all. Value that.

««»»

And this way, everything’s fine, you know everything’s fine.

««»»

Not only fine, more than fine, more than enough.

««»»

You don’t do surrender. You as personal rising I ego self does not do surrender.

You are surrender.

That’s what you are.

Just be that.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 118 Stop Reading The Menu and Start Eating19 Aug 202600:08:33

Good morning, everyone.

Let’s see what’s here today.

Just bring attention to your own being, that’s all.

««»»

Consciously aware.

««»»

That which always is prior to the movements arising and appearing out of that.

««»»

Everything appears out of this, the source. Pure being, purely subjective consciousness.

««»»

So we just go to the very root.

««»»

Not aware of anything other than yourself, only yourself.

««»»

By that I don’t mean in the peripheral of your consciousness the objects are not known. By that what I mean is you need nothing other than your own knowing, your own consciousness to know yourself. Nothing else is required. No object is required. Self-effulgent. The self-illuminating light of knowing, I know myself, I am, I.

««»»

So, this is reducing yourself down to the very root. Pure being, consciously knowing myself. Satchitananda.

««»»

Ananda means contentment. No rising I with its fears and desires, worries and concerns, nostalgias, hopes.

««»»

In the absence of that rising I is content. Peace. Ananda.

««»»

Always here, mostly overlooked, overshadowed by the gross appearances of mind, but never not here ever, not possible.

««»»

And so we just come back to that.

««»»

And what more is there?

Where more is there to go?

What more is there to find through seeking, intellectualizing, reading, conceptualizing?

That’s the wrong direction.

««»»

All of that reifies this separative ego, mind, self.

The one who knows, the one who wants to know, the one who’s seeking, the seeker.

All of those things reify that.

««»»

Never to see beyond or below or previous to. Never seeing one’s true nature that way. Not possible.

««»»

You can read the menu all day long and you’ll still be hungry.

Stop reading the menu, start eating.

And then you can discard the menu, not needed.

««»»

So for a moment, unborn being prior to the rising I, consciously knowing myself,

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 117 Your Innate Being Is Endlessly Fascinating18 Aug 202600:08:00

Good morning, everyone.

It’s interesting, the more we rest as pure being or abide as pure being or know ourselves as pure being, the more fascinating it is. Not because there’s anything happening or new, But, because it’s just endlessly fascinating somehow.

Wherever you are, or whatever you’re doing, and all of that is great, everything of the world is perfectly great, but always at the root of all of that is me, myself, pure being.

And that is endlessly fascinating. Even though that in and of itself is always the same.

««»»

You may begin to notice that it doesn’t really matter what you’re doing. Maybe you’re doing a task that you don’t particularly like, you know, I don’t know, whatever that might be. Washing dishes or cleaning the kitchen or the bathroom or something. Or whatever else it might be for you.

When you know yourself in that moment, when you’re abiding as yourself, that’s the main thing. And then in that way, it doesn’t really matter what the body is doing.

Just notice that yourself in the course of your day.

««»»

Be more and more fascinated with yourself, with pure being.

And then each thing within that arising from that is also perfectly good.

But it’s no longer so much of a preference or an aversion to the things that are happening.

That has actually far-reaching implications.

Things that we’re averse to. Can seemingly take us away from the peace and contentment of our being, you know?

Well, a very gross and egregious example is politics.

Politics is good because it’s such a really gross level intrusion into our peace, if we let it of course be. Of course nothing is an intrusion into our peace other than what we accept.

««»»

But that’s a particularly interesting aversion to notice because it’s so stark.

But when we’re really living freedom,

when we’re really knowing the contentment of our own being,

when we’re really knowing that our peace and happiness is not dependent on having our preferences met or the world or our circumstances aligning with the way we want them to be.

If in that moment of aversion you can recognize that in fact that aversion doesn’t really touch my being at all.

««»»

Then that’s a very powerful movement in consciousness. To graciously tap you on the shoulder and say, “turn around beloved, I’m still here”.

««»»

Regardless of the aversion, dislike or distaste or anger or hatred or whatever it can be. Even in the midst of that, I’m still here.

««»»

So yeah. Being fascinated with pure being, who I am, my essential innate self, is endlessly interesting, actually. And no matter what the body is doing during the course of the day, any chores or tasks, or no matter what the mind is doing, having opinions and preferences, and likes and dislikes and aversions and all of that,

I’m still here, endlessly fascinating prior to all of that, regardless of all of that.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 116 First Know Thyself and All Will Be Added On To You17 Aug 202600:09:56

Good morning, everyone.

Let’s see what’s here today.

Okay, we spoke about philosophy yesterday a little bit.

Being very much attached to gaining knowledge or information or knowing something. Knowing how things are or why things are or something like that. Or with the intellect understanding how everything fits together somehow with the hopes that that will bring us contentment.

Well, I mean that’s ultimately what we’re looking for in anything, isn’t it? In a new car or a new house or more money or whatever it is, we’re looking for happiness, contentment. We want to come to rest. When we get what we’re looking for, we’ll come to rest. And maybe we do for a few minutes or very briefly.

But of course, that doesn’t last.

Well, it’s exactly the same with information and concepts and knowledge, spiritual or philosophical knowledge or something. We think that if we gain that piece of information, we’ll come to rest and be content.

And again, that’s also not ultimately fulfilling at all. There’s always more with everything. There’s more money. There’s more knowledge as well.

Well, that’s not where contentment lay, is it? Of course.

««»»

In some teachings, in probably many teachings, really, in what state it is, peace is the absence of desire.

Let’s look into it a little bit. What does it mean?

It really means the desire to have something or attain something or get something with the conscious or subconscious hope that it will bring us peace and happiness and contentment.

To want anything other than what is exactly in this moment is obviously a movement of the rising I.

There can be a subtle or gross discontent with what is. From that discontent rises a desire, for something other.

And hey, it’s completely natural to want things, so I’m not denigrating that movement, I’m just saying, let’s see what actually is going on, that’s all.

If in this moment, like now, on holiday,

««»»

You recognize the peace and contentment that is who you are at the core. Then what desire is needed?

««»»

Already fulfilled. Already content.

««»»

So they say the end of desire is freedom. And that’s true.

Again, I’m not making any hyperbolic statements that thou shalt never desire something and would never be so flippant to say something like that.

Because it’s natural to want something, of course. But what’s behind that desire, that’s the point.

Is it really the object we want, or is it what we think the object will bring to us that we want?

Really, have a look.

Why do you want the new car, the new relationship? Why do you want the spiritual experience?

Why do you want that piece of philosophical concept to be understood?

««»»

In any of those objects, obviously, it’s not the object in itself that you actually want, it’s that you think the object’s going to bring you relief, contentment, fulfillment, wholeness, peace, happiness.

««»»

The good news is all of those things I just described are already here, as your essential innate being, always, and very easy to notice also, any time.

««»»

When you really know this, fine, go ahead, have everything. Have everything of the world, all is good. Nothing wrong with any of those objects. Well, I’m not so big on philosophy myself, but all of the nice worldly objects, what’s wrong with those?

It’s all good.

««»»

You can enjoy it all.

But it’s good to know that you’re never going to attain ultimate peace and contentment from any of those objects.

Have them, great.

Enjoy them, wonderful.

But first know thyself. Know thyself first. And all will be added onto you.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 115 The Peace That Passes Understanding, and Philosophy16 Aug 202600:12:54

Good morning everyone.

Today is one of those days, absolutely no ideas about what to speak about.

So let’s find out together.

««»»

The answer is not in the mind.

The answer is not an answer to a question that satisfies the question. And that also, ostensibly satisfies the questioner.

The question and the questioner are the same. They’re one and the same.

When the question is there, the questioner is there as well.

And when the question is gone, the questioner is gone as well.

««»»

So the answer to a question is not about satisfying the questioner, or satisfying the question?

The answer to all of these spiritual, philosophical questions

is you.

Like right now, blown wide open.

««»»

The unbound space of pure being, yourself.

««»»

Isn’t that so simple?

««»»

It doesn’t satisfy the questioner, which is the rising I, ego.

It doesn’t satisfy the question. No.

It ends that.

And then there’s no need for an answer to the question.

And there’s no longer one who needs an answer to the question.

Like now, blown wide open.

««»»

Consciously aware of myself, unlimited, unlocalized, not centralized, ubiquitous, ever-present, here always.

««»»

For one who is very intrigued by the mind and trying to figure things out and understand things or just liking to philosophize about things for whatever reason, one who’s really intrigued by that or fascinated by that or interested in that, it’s a challenge to be nothing, prior to all of that, just simply to be.

««»»

The philosophical busyness that some people are engaged

in really has nothing to do at all with being free.

««»»

Freedom is free of that, and freedom is free of the one who needs that, or is interested in that, or is hoping to find some solution or resolution or answer in that.

It’s free of that, the rising I.

That’s what freedom is. It’s not the satisfaction of that. It’s the end of that.

Like now. Always like now. So simple.

Pure being.

««»»

I’ve told this story I think on my last intensive or meeting or something. But it’s about Ramana Maharshi. There was an amazing being that came to Ramana early. He was Kavyakanti Muni. He was a towering intellect, a towering poet, a towering Sanskrit scholar. Amazing memory, incredible mind. And he recognized that Ramana was just a free, totally free jnani, pure being, you know.

And Ramana respected him because he was an amazing person. But anyway, he went through his whole life very attached to his philosophy and philosophical mind and all of that, at a very high level. And then he died many years later.

And someone asked Ramana Maharshi, “Kavyakati Muni died, did he attain liberation before he died?” And Ramana said, “how could he? He was too attached to his mind.” '

To be free is very simple.

The way to be free is simply to be free. And to really be devoted to that or in love with that more than you’re in love with your mind.

««»»

So, for freedom to be your condition, and if you’re inclined to engage in philosophical questioning or debating or trying to understand all of these teachings and the meanings of life and all of that, it’s good to see that.

The way to be free means the end of that. Because the end of that is the end of the one who needs all of that.

And that’s freedom, no?

««»»

And so again, we don’t judge anything, but just see. See in your own mind. Everyone has somewhat of a philosophical mind in some ways, you know. Although some people are just fully bhakti, love, you know, devotion, which is a better route, actually, if you ask me.

But we all more or less want to understand things in the spiritual game. And some are very infatuated with all of that.

And so it’s just no judgment, but just see what it is for you, you know. If you want freedom, you won’t find it in that philosophical game.

So what do you want?

If you want freedom, then go for freedom. If you want to enjoy the philosophical mind game, that’s fine. Then go for that. No problem.

For me, it’s clear.

Like now.

««»»

I don’t know the meaning of life. I don’t know why anything is as it is. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future. I don’t know where anything came from. I simply know this moment here and now.

And that’s more than enough.

Because that’s the end of the one who needs all of those things or wants to know any of that stuff, the end of that one. And when that’s the case, then this here and now, the unknown, pure knowing is more than enough. It’s much more than enough.

It’s the peace that passes understanding.

Right. Exactly.

It’s the peace that needs no understanding. It simply is.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 114 In All Times and In All Places, I Am Here15 Aug 202600:11:01

Good morning, everyone.

When’s the best time to have a holiday?

Is it while you’re listening to me speak every morning?

Well, sure, certainly that’s good.

Is it when you’re your meditation cushion with your eyes open or eyes closed?

Is dedicated time for having a holiday good or the best thing to do?

Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, in all times and in all places, I am here. Know that.

Like now for a moment.

««»»

Life is not lived on the meditation cushion.

Life is lived in the midst of family, in the midst of work, in the midst of crazy politicians, in the midst of traffic, in the midst of watching a movie, in the midst of daily life.

That’s life.

««»»

And in all of those circumstances, you can know I am here.

««»»

Like now again.

««»»

Just like now when we’re together,

if you’re walking, whether inside your house or outside in nature, know that you’re here, know yourself, know I am.

««»»

If you’re cooking, Know I Am. Know Yourself.

««»»

If you’re having a shower. Know I Am. Know Yourself.

««»»

In the middle of work. Know I am. Know yourself. Just like now.

««»»

While being with your friends, know I am. Know yourself. Just like now.

««»»

While watching a movie, know yourself, know I am. Just like now.

««»»

If you only listen to these holidays for 10 or 15 minutes every day and have a very nice recognition, maybe feel good, feel a little peace, a little silence. That’s very nice. That’s good.

But that’s not the main event, you know. The main event is your life.

««»»

Nothing needs to change for you to know freedom. Nothing needs to change in the mind. Nothing needs to change in the body. Nothing needs to change in the environment you’re in.

Nothing needs to change to know freedom.

««»»

Why? Because what you are, what you are in essence, your pure eternal timeless being is always here and present with no exceptions whatsoever, ever.

««»»

So when is the time to come to know this? Always now. Only now.

««»»

In all times and in all places, I am here. Know that.

««»»

Then it’s no longer a daily practice or a daily short meditation. No, no. Now it is living this, living it, now. When are you gonna live it? Later?

No. Live it. Now. Always.

««»»

When you start doing this and living this way, you’ll really start to enjoy it, this way of being.

And then your life is an expression of that or a manifestation of that.

««»»

And it’s fun. It’s nice.

It’s not a struggle. It’s not effort. It’s not sitting down in a stiff position to try to meditate something or whatever.

It’s just continuously coming out into the sun.

Come out into the sun.

Come out into the sun.

Come out into the sun.

Shine on yourself.

The self-illuminating I. I know that I am. Pure being, timeless, eternal. Who I am.

««»»

In all times and in all places, here I am. No exceptions. Know that.

««»»

Good to be with you. I will be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake UpEp. 113 What Do I Want?14 Aug 202600:12:36

Good morning, everyone.

What do you want? That’s a good question. Because as it turns out, you actually have what you want, or get what you want.

So what do I mean by this? How does that apply to our work together?

The old saying is that you need to want freedom as much as a drowning man wants air. If you’re drowning, you’re not thinking about yesterday or tomorrow or your work or your problems or your relationship or your partner or your children or anything, nothing.

You’re thinking about one thing, air. And if you want freedom that much, then it’s absolutely completely done.

But let’s face it. There are many things that interest us, compel us.

And I’m not talking about the things to do in life. I’m speaking more about the unnecessary activities of our mind that for some reason continue to attract us, compel our attention, distract us from freedom or essential being, and for no beneficial purpose whatsoever, just very mechanical, repetitive, compulsive thinking.

Okay, there’s no fault in that. There’s no one to blame. That’s the human condition, of course, you know. So much information and data has been impressed in our minds, our empty mind. And a lifetime of, in a way, laziness has kept us completely engaged following along with that.

But there’s an alternative.

And that alternative is readily available every single second of your existence.

And it’s never not available under any circumstance, ever.

Well, you know what I’m gonna say now. Let’s have a Holiday.

Blown wide open. Prior to the rising I, prior to all of that mentation, redundant, pointless, mentalizing, but prior to that, here and now, I am, consciously knowing myself.

««»»

So what is needed once we recognize this? Is to have some discrimination or discernment, to know what’s going on here.

To be able to recognize when I begin rising as ego and attachment to thinking and all of that.

««»»

And in the moment when we notice that, what is that there that’s arising? It’s obviously a separative experience with an entire world attached to it.

Feelings, emotions, ideas, opinions, preferences. Past, future, me this and me that and me everything else, that rising I.

So our work is to discern as quickly as possible when that begins to happen.

««»»

Maybe it happens right away, or maybe it doesn’t happen for a few minutes, or maybe it doesn’t happen for half a day. Well, what to do? When you do notice that you’re arising as the separative I, in that moment of noticing itself, again, have a Holiday.

««»»

And be what you are prior to that arising, that movement.

««»»

And this comes back to my question at the beginning. What do you want? This is not a judgment at all.

If you want freedom, if you want blown wide open, if you want present moment consciously aware being, that’s it. That’s what you have.

And it never goes anywhere, so you don’t have to get it or attain it. It’s always here. It’s always here. Never not.

But if those thoughts are compelling and we follow along, then it can be said, in a way, in that moment, that that’s what we want. We want to follow along with those thoughts. It’s not a conscious desire or something like that. But clearly, if we start following that thought stream, then for whatever reason, it’s very interesting, very compelling, very infatuating. And obviously, we want to go along for that ride.

««»»

And there are so many things to be interested in there, isn’t there? And again, I’m not speaking about the things of your life, your family and your work and your art or whatever. I’m talking about the pointless redundancy of mentation that is endlessly looping in the head that serves no benefit whatsoever.

««»»

And yet seems so fascinating. It’s true.

««»»

Just notice on holiday, try to notice when the movement of the rising I begins. What is that? What is that? What is that? You know what it is. And in that moment, come to the root of that and just be there instead, the root, the source of that, which is who I am.

And you begin to really see that movement in stark vision, really. You really can see that happening.

««»»

And then you clearly get to see the option. Of living in your timeless, essential being that needs no thought, concept, anything other than itself, I knowing myself, purely subjective knowing.

Between that and the endless stream of redundant and pointless mentating that seems to create an I, that feels like an I, that appears for all intents and purposes like an I, like that’s who I am. You need to see also, and this is key and important, that that phantom appearing I that claims to be who I am is not what I am in essence.

You have to recognize that movement as not what I actually am in essence, but what is appearing as me in a very ephemeral, temporal way, but is actually not me. It’s only thought, a shadow.

««»»

And all is good, really. There’s nothing to judge at all. I don’t judge. Whatever it is, you know.

All of these movements, even those movements towards the rising I, there’s no fault or anything like that. Nothing like that at all. We just notice, that’s all.

Simple. Just notice. Just be cognizant of what’s going on with you, that’s all.

And then you start to see, what do I want? Because if I want freedom, here it is. I can have it.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 112 The Highest Teaching Is Silence, Yourself13 Aug 202600:06:45

Good morning, everyone.

Well, I have nothing to speak about today, so let’s just see.

We’ll just be here openly knowing, prior to the arising of the rising I.

««»»

And just be here for a moment.

««»»

They say silence is the highest teaching. And that’s true. What does silence mean?

It means being as you are prior to the rising I.

It doesn’t mean the absence of sounds or anything like that.

««»»

And when you’re like this, you know yourself very clearly. Not as an object with name or form or anything like that, which is all fine, of course, but you know yourself purely, directly.

Pure being, pure knowing.

««»»

And purely subjective also.

This is the knowing that knows itself. I know that I am. I know myself.

Nothing else is required. Nothing.

««»»

Knowing myself as anything else requires an object, thoughts, description, name, form, and many other things as well. And so that can’t be direct. That’s not directly knowing who I am.

««»»

But this silence that we’re speaking about now, which is prior to the rising I,

««»»

which requires nothing other than itself to be known?

««»»

Which is the end of all seeking?

««»»

Which is the end of all philosophizing?

««»»

Which is the end of all understanding?

««»»

Which is the end of the one who needs any of those things?

««»»

It’s only the rising I that needs seeking, philosophy, understanding.

You, silence, need none of that, do you? To know and to be free.

««»»

So yes, in this way, silence is the highest teaching because silence is the teaching itself.

Silence is the goal itself.

Silence is the means or the way itself.

Silence is your essential being.

And it’s the answer.

««»»

The highest teaching is yourself, silence. It’s already attained.

««»»

It’s good to be with you and I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 111 The Phantom I Vanishes in Favor of Pure Being12 Aug 202600:11:16

Good morning, everyone.

Let’s look a little bit more today into the phantom I. We have an idea that there is something called ego that actually exists. And that it’s here constantly, permanently and that it’s a foe that needs to be dealt with in some way or transcended or killed, something like that.

So ego really just means I am separate. Ego means I am a discrete being separated from everything else. Unique. Living within the world outside.

Is that really what it is though? Is that really what’s going on? Is that really a solidified thing? Well, let’s find out a little bit.

So for a moment, without attending to this, or without attending to that, or without attending to anything at all, simply by attending to your own being, purely subjective knowing, I know that I am.

««»»

This eternal being, which as we saw yesterday, is always the case.

Eternal means always is, here whenever I care to have a look or notice.

««»»

And from this pure being arises the idea or sense that I am here separate. We’ll look at it and see what that is.

When the feeling I is there, and of course, often accompanied by thoughts about myself, you know, thoughts that are self-referencing, which by self-referencing means to do with this body and this life experience.

When that separative I am sense is there, it seems very, you know, real in the moment, doesn’t it? Convincing.

««»»

But what happens when you stop for a moment and look to see where it is? Really, just take a moment now and look and see where is that I?

««»»

As soon as you look, it vanishes.

««»»

As soon as you look for I, it can’t be found.

Because the looking itself means you’ve come back into a Holiday, the position of knowing.

And when you try to find that I, where is it?

««»»

It only appears to be there when I am wrapped up within it believing that self-reflexive story as who I am. In that moment, when there is no clear light of knowing, it seems to be real.

And for all intents and purposes, it actually is because we act from that. But is it actually real? Just take a step back, pure being knowing, the source, the root of all of it, what I am, what I actually am eternally, and then look and see if you find that I.

««»»

You don’t.

What you find are some objects, like sensations of the body. But look around the body. Where is the eyes? Somewhere in the body. Is it inside the head look? Is that where I is?

Inside the chest, maybe? Is that where I am?

Inside, wherever you’re feeling a sensation at any given moment,

is that where I am? Where am I in there?

What happens when you look is that that limited belief or sense of I vanishes in favor of the eternal, timeless, infinite, limitless, pure being, purely subjective, the light that knows itself I.

««»»

Let’s see that again.

From pure being knowing your timeless eternal self, look for that I. Is it somewhere in the body.

««»»

When you look, it vanishes in favor of blown wide open, pure knowing being, limitless, timeless, eternal.

What I am.

««»»

No need to wait for the future, next week or 10 years from now when the so-called I am is going to vanish or be killed or be transcended.

That’s just more seeking and waiting. That’s more egoic movement.

When are you gonna be free? Well, not in the future.

You’re gonna be free now. Only. That’s the only possibility. So when is the so-called I going to vanish?

In 20 years? No. It’s going to vanish now when it’s recognized to actually not exist as a discrete, solid object.

So again, look for the I. And find that you are blown wide open.

I

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow.

Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 110 What is Eternal? What is Samadhi?11 Aug 202600:10:13

Good morning, everyone.

What is eternal? Let’s find out.

Eternal doesn’t mean a long time or forever. Eternal does not mean forever.

Eternal means what always is. Eternal, what always is. It means that which doesn’t change. It doesn’t come and go, and it’s always the same.

So, there’s something about you that’s eternal.

And this is not theory, this is something you easily can recognize for yourself.

Let’s be on holiday for a moment. Just pure being, knowing, consciously aware of myself.

««»»

Whatever appears within or arises out of this pure being knowing is constantly changing, in movement and flux.

All of the objects of the senses are constantly changing without ever a single millisecond of non-movement.

All of the sensations of the body are constantly changing without a millisecond of stagnation or non-movement.

All of the thoughts appearing are changing constantly as well.

At the root of that is the rising I.

Even this rising I, which we mistake to be ourselves, the phantom I which we mistake to be ourselves, is constantly changing. It’s never the same, ever. It comes and it goes many, many, many times each day, and each time it appears it has different characteristics.

««»»

So, all of those movements are temporal, they’re ephemeral.

When we have a holiday, like now,

««»»

pure being knowing.

It has no characteristics, no color, no history, no personality. It has nothing but itself. And it’s always the same.

««»»

Whenever you care to look, whenever a Holiday happens, you see, it’s the same as the last Holiday, five minutes ago, or yesterday, or last week, or when I was in high school. If I was able to have recognized it then, I would have known the same exact pure being knowing as I know now. This you can know for yourself in your own experience.

««»»

What I am, at essence, at the root, prior to all of the risings, is eternal being.

««»»

This is myself, I.

And then I rise as the world or the so-called personal self, the world of differences and change and temporality.

I rise as that.

««»»

But I, at the root, at the source, at the heart of it all, am eternal. Again, it doesn’t mean forever, it means it’s always as it is.

««»»

So, a Holiday is being that eternal being that I am prior to the rising of I in the world.

Not denying anything. Not denying the world at all, just knowing myself prior to it as well.

««»»

In the Indian teachings, there’s the word Samadhi. You’ve heard it, I’m sure. There are different types of Samadhi. Nirvikalpa Samadhi is a condition you get in where you go deeply within the self and you become unaware of the world. You’re only aware of yourself as pure being and there is no world that you’re aware of as well at the same time.

That’s a temporary state that comes and goes. It’s not the final, it’s not the ultimate.

There is what’s called Sahaja Samadhi, which is to know that pure being knowing while the world is appearing.

To not deny anything, to not escape the appearances or anything like that.

««»»

So knowing myself as pure being, knowing it as the root or the heart of it all, out of which all of it arises, knowing myself as that and being that while the world is still appearing, engaging in the world, being fully so-called embodied, as some people like to say. That’s what we’re speaking about here.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 109 Asleep In The Waking State10 Aug 202600:11:05

Good morning everyone.

In deep sleep there is complete and total and utter contentment, which is of course why everyone loves to sleep. We don’t remember our condition of deep sleep, but we do know we slept well and were content and happy.

What is that condition or state there that makes it so peaceful and blissful and content and happy?

Of course, it’s the absence of the rising I with which the entire world appears. So I don’t need to talk too much about that because I’ve spoken about that before, that movement from deep sleep to awakening to consciousness. But the inquiry for today or the Holiday for today is to recognize that same condition of deep sleep now, in the waking state.

To be in deep sleep while awake, while fully conscious, with the appearance of the world and everything. The way to recognize this, of course, is first to come into a holiday, pure being, just know, prior to name and form, prior to the rising I, prior to all of that. Just pure being. Be that for a moment.

««»»

You can take some time here to let the body and the mind relax and settle down. Don’t be stiff or anything. If you want to close your eyes, that’s fine, but you don’t have to at all.

The main thing is simply just to be as you are, pure being, prior to the rising I.

««»»

The way to really recognize this deep contentment in deep sleep is to, well, the best way I can say it is to not care at all what’s appearing in the mind.

Not be concerned.

Not try to get rid of thoughts.

Not try to come into a state of no thinking or no thoughts or something.

To genuinely not be concerned what’s appearing in the body, in the mind.

Not denying anything, pushing anything away, nothing like that.

Simply not being concerned.

««»»

And instead, your job is simply to attend to yourself, which again is the source, the root prior to all of that, pure being I am.

««»»

This takes some nuanced recognition. It takes some devotion I would have to say, you know, I don’t like the word practice because it’s not that, but really being devoted to this.

Notice the tendency to want to get rid of thoughts or something like that. Of course, it’s natural.

««»»

But really, again, your only interest is to attend to yourself. I know that I am, knowing myself, purely subject.

««»»

You might notice the content, peaceful silence that is palpable. Maybe it’s subtle, but palpable at the core of your being.

««»»

If you notice that, notice that the world is still appearing, isn’t it? The objects of the senses are still appearing. Sensations of the body are still appearing. Thoughts may be coming in to make their momentary display.

Without denying any of that, your main interest and main love is that which is behind it, at the root of it, out of which it all is appearing and disappearing, and be there,

««»»

This deep contentment is the same deep contentment in deep sleep, but now you are consciously aware of it.

And it is, even during the appearance of the world.

««»»

Take some time just to sit by yourself and do this.

Again, eyes definitely don’t have to be closed. It’s almost better not to close them, but also okay if you want to. Body can move a little bit. Take some time to settle into this and notice that.

And then also, during the course of your day, notice it. While you’re walking, while whatever you’re doing, try to notice a little bit. Which seems subtle, you know, that palpable feeling can seem subtle in the background and it is. Try to be aware of that a little bit.

««»»

That’s being asleep in the waking state.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 108 Be Still09 Aug 202600:07:23

Good morning, everyone.

Let’s be still.

««»»

Be still doesn’t mean not to move the body. It doesn’t even mean that there should be literally no thoughts happening in the mind. Be still means to not attach to any of those movements as what I am.

««»»

Be still means simply just to be without rising as the I.

««»»

The body can move.

There can be action, there can be walking, cooking, whatever, talking, all of it, watching a movie, all of those things can be happening.

««»»

But you at the center are still.

««»»

So just for a moment, let’s be still.

««»»

You’ll notice the movements of body and the movements of thoughts and all of that. And you’ll notice when there’s an attraction to those things.

So when you notice there’s an attraction to those things, just again be still.

««»»

If the idea is there that you can’t move because that will disturb the stillness, then let’s do a little test here.

Just wiggle your fingers a little bit while being still.

««»»

That stillness at the heart of what you are is still there, no?

««»»

Wiggle your toes.

««»»

Your attention is on yourself, pure being, that which is still.

««»»

Move the body a little bit, shoulders, whatever, hips. But your attention is on that which is still.

««»»

So, be still and know that I am. We can leave the word God off, but just be still and know that I am, doesn’t even necessarily mean don’t have any thoughts there in the background.

It just means you, at the center, at the heart, be still and know I am.

««»»

It becomes palpable, this stillness,

which is nice because then it’s an invitation to be there more, because it’s pleasant.

««»»

That’s really all I have to say for today.

Keep it in mind throughout the day though. Just when you’re walking, walking is a great time to notice still. Even watching a movie. So throughout your day, just be aware of that, that’s all.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 107 Abide As The Ever Present Contentment, Peace and Silence08 Aug 202600:14:10

Good morning, everyone.

As you likely know, the weekend Mini-Intensive will be happening in two weeks from now on August 22nd and 23rd. There will be a session on Saturday which will be more than two hours because we’ll have the first couple of hours just fully immersed in Holiday in a really profound way so that it becomes doubtless for you. And then there’ll be time after that for some Q&A, if that’s required. We can talk about things. And that’ll happen on Saturday and Sunday and I’ll be also encouraging you between and after to continue in this recognition throughout your day so that the whole weekend is going to be immersed in the depth of your pure being.

And the sessions will be recorded as well, video and audio. So you can go through those again at any time you’d like.

But for today, why don’t we have a little bit of a little taste of what that’s going to be like. Just to be fully immersed in your essential pure being.

So for now, don’t be concerned with what’s arising, thoughts or sensations or anything. No problem. Don’t try to change or fix anything like that. Just attend to yourself, pure being.

««»»

I’d like you to try to notice this, which is always here, even if there are movements of the body and the mind, which is always going to be the case. You know, beneath that or behind it or underneath or something, prior to it, there’s something that’s very still.

It may seem subtle, but it’s a clue when you start recognizing that a little bit. It’s a clue and it’s an invitation.

It’s like a finger calling you, “hey come here”.

So notice that.

««»»

Again, don’t be concerned with what’s appearing. Don’t deny anything or get rid of anything. Just, you know, in a way, don’t care. Fine.

You, body, mind, do what you want to do. That’s none of my business. My business is to recognize this peaceful background and just be there.

««»»

As you don’t create the body, you don’t create the mind, you don’t create the thoughts, you don’t create the sensations, you don’t create any of the sensory appearances. As you don’t create any of those things, neither is it your job to get rid of any of those things. Nor can you.

Your business is to abide as yourself, that’s all.

««»»

Consciously knowing your own being. I am and I know that I am. Consciously aware. Pure subject. Pure being. No object other than myself to know myself.

««»»

In the background of every experience and movement always is the silent, peaceful, pure being.

««»»

And so just begin to notice that a little bit and do it throughout your day as well, not only now. While you’re walking, just even from one room to another or one location to another, notice.

««»»

This gentle, even blissful silence is palpable at the core of your being. It’s almost a physical sensation and in a way it is because at that level the body is very deeply relaxed.

««»»

And that palpable feeling makes it alluring for you to abide as that which is prior to, beneath, and behind all of the movements of the body and the mind. That which is eternal, timeless, never changing, never moving, always you.

««»»

Nice. You can’t deny. Just begin noticing that that’s always there.

It’s mostly not noticed because the grosser manifestations normally overwhelm that. Of course, the gross will overwhelm the subtle. But when you begin noticing that more and more, then it becomes clearer and more apparent. More obvious and more available.

Anytime.

««»»

This is a level of contentment that’s always available beneath the surface. And you can begin living like this more and more. Content in most experiences, if not all. But certainly more and more in your own experience.

««»»

And as it’s more and more obvious, you also realize that nothing can touch that. Sounds don’t affect that silence. The movements of the body-mind don’t affect that palpable feeling of contentment and peace. It’s there.

««»»

So if you’d like to join me for a couple of days of this, that’s a small version of what we’ll be doing for a couple of hours each day and really through the whole day because I’ll encourage you to listen again and just be this for a couple of days. So the information’s on the link. And yeah, hope to see you there.

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 106 Where Do I End and The World Begins?07 Aug 202600:07:15

Good morning, everyone.

Let’s find out where we’re located.

We must be inside this body, no? Well, let’s see.

Let’s be on holiday for a moment. Blown wide open. Pure being.

Prior to the arising of the so-called separate self, the ego self, the rising I, just being here.

««»»

Without the rising I, which is the separating factor, that which separates, that which divides, because it creates a myself here that is separate or other than what it perceives. So if I feel myself to be here, as a separate I, I perceive everything else as separate from myself. That’s pretty clear, I think, right?

««»»

But now, just for a moment, not rising as that separate I, just being, pure being.

««»»

The actual lived experience is infinitely vast. It doesn’t end at the skin. It doesn’t end anywhere.

As far as the eye can see, for example, this pure being permeates all of that And all of that is permeated by this pure being, isn’t it, what I am?

««»»

If you’re sitting outside now, you can see the trees, you can see the mountains farther away, the clouds in the sky maybe, or the sun.

All of those are equally permeated with being. The same being that I am.

««»»

When for a moment I don’t rise as the separate I, the dividing factor, the separating factor, that which separates itself from everything else, for a moment I don’t rise as that, like now.

««»»

What is separate from anything?

And where am I located?

Inside the body, separated from everything or

infinitely vast being with no center, no specific spot located.

««»»

And so if I say that I am here and I, what I am, ends at the skin line and after which the world begins, clearly there’s a separative movement going on, isn’t there?

The rising I.

««»»

Now, functioning in the world, that’s fine, no problem, of course.

You know, if a car is coming to run you over, it’s good to know that you’re separate from the car in that way, of course, practical. But in your own experience, in reality of what actually is happening, without that movement of the rising I for a moment, where am I located?

Am I here and then ending at the skin line?

««»»

I suggest no. But see for yourself.

««»»

So for a moment, just open, knowing, pure being. No inside or outside.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 105 True Silence is the Absence of the Rising I06 Aug 202600:06:09

Good morning, everyone.

Pure knowing being.

No name, no form.

No attributes whatsoever.

No nationality.

No language.

No gender.

No political, social, religious, spiritual affiliation.

No opinion, preferences, judgment.

No past, no future.

No good me, no bad me.

No reminiscence, no nostalgia.

No past regret, guilt, remorse.

No future fear, anxiety, apprehension, concern.

No birth, no death.

No learning.

No philosophy.

No erudition.

No lack of those.

No higher or lower, superior, inferior.

No guru, no devotee.

No leader, no follower.

In the absence of the rising I, what am I?

None of those attributes apply to me.

The true silence isn't the absence of noise or sounds.

True silence is the absence of the rising I.

For a moment, just be.

It's good to be with you. I'll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 104 Is Effort Needed to Be On Holiday?05 Aug 202600:14:54

Good morning everyone.

I was chatting with Kat a little bit earlier today and she suggested that I address this question of effort a little bit because she’s been noticing rightfully that people feel that they need to try to be on Holiday or put in effort or practice or something like that. It’s very natural. And I do often speak about that on the intensives and everywhere, really, including these Holidays.

Let’s look at it some more.

Ultimately, a Holiday, your own essential being, is nothing to do with effort. It’s just what you are. Of course. So it doesn’t take any effort to be what you are.

So when I say have a Holiday, it’s a seed I plant in your mind that sprouts by itself.

It’s not an admonition to practice something or anything like that. This is also why I don’t say take a Holiday.

What I mostly say is when a Holiday happens, know that you are.

««»»

Holidays happen by themselves. Whether we think we’re doing them or not, we’re not. They happen by themselves. I’ve spoken about this many times. Everything happens by itself. So whether we think we’re intentionally having a holiday, even that intention sprouts spontaneously. There’s no doer in that.

So there’s no effort in that way.

So why do people feel that they have to make an effort to be on Holiday? And that’s a genuine question.

Clearly, the reason that idea or concern would be there is because the mind that has that question has the idea that it’s not there yet, that there’s something more to do.

And so what is that? Obviously that’s the rising I, ego, mind that has an idea. The idea being I’m not there yet. I’m supposed to be on holiday all the time. Why aren’t I? Maybe I’m not fully awakened or fully enlightened yet or, any number of concepts and questions that arise create the movement of that same mind to want to do something to have more holidays. And so what to do?

There’s really nothing to do. I can’t say don’t put in any effort or don’t try to have more Holidays or anything like that because then again there will be a concept in the mind that’s now trying to not have any effort or Holidays.

So what I say is that I put the seed Holiday, Holiday, Holiday that sprouts by itself in your mind.

And so I say, when a Holiday happens, notice some things.

What do you notice?

Well, clearly, a Holiday is free of the rising I, which is the movement of ego, of time, of past, future, story, history, personal history, all of that.

What else do you notice?

You notice that this pure eternal being, which is timeless, is always here. It’s always what I am. Whether I notice it or not, it is.

So you notice that also on a holiday.

And what else do you notice on a holiday? That inherent contentment and peace and happiness is already here as your nature, so you notice that also.

And what else do you notice on a holiday?

That seeking is over because the one who is seeking, the rising I, is no longer here. And when the rising I, the seeker goes, like now, for a moment, the seeking goes as well.

««»»

Like now for a moment, when the one who thinks there’s something more to attain, which is again the rising I that has a lot of concepts about freedom and enlightenment, when that rising I that thinks there’s something more to attain is gone

like right now,

««»»

the feeling or idea that there’s something more to attain is also gone with it. And contentment is here.

««»»

And also, when the rising I that has the idea that more effort is required to reach a holiday, when that I is not here, like now for a moment,

««»»

the idea of effort is also not here.

««»»

I often say a Holiday reveals things. A Holiday is a Holiday, it’s a break from the mind games in that whole world of mind, that phantom world of mind. It’s a break from that. And it’s knowing that I am. And so I say when a Holiday happens, know that you are. And in that things are revealed like some of the things I just said.

««»»

It’s revealed that you’re already home.

It’s revealed that no effort is required to be home, because you are there.

It’s revealed that a Holiday is a very different way of being, not the contracted, limited, bound self way of being, but blown wide open, free.

««»»

And in that we find this way of being to be preferable. We find peace and contentment here, ease of being,

And so, instead of requiring effort to try to get to this, we just naturally want this without any effort.

The more we see this way of being, the more we realize it’s a good way of being, Better than running around in the carousels of mind. Then naturally we want to live this way. And so no effort is needed.

It becomes our natural condition more and more.

It becomes our default condition more and more.

««»»

And no effort is required for that. It’s just falling in love with being.

So what to do? You can’t force that to happen either. That’s another thing that would be an effort. So we don’t force anything here. So if you notice that there is the idea that I need to make more effort, or I need to practice Holidays, or I need to do Holidays more, notice something.

Who has that thought? What about you has that thought? The rising I, obviously.

And like with everything else I share, it’s just to see that, that’s all, just to notice. Oh, oh yeah. If there is the concept that I need to try harder or have more Holidays or do something, that has to be only the rising I.

No problem. Jump off. That’s all.

««»»

And so again, it can’t be forced. It will appear like effort is being made until it’s no longer needed.

Nisargadatta says, “when effort is required, effort will appear. When effortlessness is required, effortlessness will appear.”

There’s no doer in either of those.

So just in summary, this is nothing to try to attain effortlessness here. “Oh no, now I’m thinking I have to have a holiday. That’s effort, I’m doing something wrong.”

No, it’s not about that. Again, that would be the rising I.

What is the way it works is, as I say, when a holiday happens, recognize the value of what that is.

Recognize it’s the end of all of your seeking and the end of you running around in those carousels. It’s home.

And the more you recognize that, the more naturally, of course, what will you want? Of course.

And then no effort is required for that.

««»»

And in the meantime, I say, yes, Holiday, Holiday, Holiday, Holiday. It’s just a seed, a seed, a seed. It’s planted in the mind and it sprouts by itself. It’s not an admonition to practice or anything like that. It’s a seed I put, Holiday, Holiday, Holiday, and it will sprout by itself. And when it does sprout by itself, recognize what it is.

Freedom.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 103 Free From The One Who Needs To Know04 Aug 202600:09:20

Good morning, everyone.

I was talking to a friend today at the Cafe, Da Mantra Cafe, and I was speaking a little bit to her about the great J. Krishnamurti’s saying, “freedom from the known.”

That’s actually not how the conversation started, but I brought that book title up.

Freedom from the known. This is a very huge thing, so let’s look into it a little bit.

««»»

Ego, or the rising I, needs something to maintain its existence. It can be, well, many things. Reminiscence of the past. There’s the I there who reminisces about the past. It could be fear or trepidation about the future.

It could be regret. It could be feeling of achievement, accomplishment. It could be a feeling of failure. I have failed. I have succeeded. I have regret.

All of these multiple different additions to the sense of I that gives it a reified existence, apparently.

All of those things are the known. By the known it just means anything that is known to me, pure being, is the known.

««»»

One thing she was speaking about today was the concept that I am as I am now because of something from my past life. Because I was so in my past life that explains how I am now. And I just simply said, “well, maybe that’s true, but do I actually know that that’s true? I don’t. I don’t know.”

It’s an idea. That, ah, yes, now is explained easily because it must have been that has something to do with my past life. That explains now, somehow.

Well, right there is a feeling of the known, isn’t it?

Now there’s some security there. “Ah, now I know. Now I know.” I just said, “I don’t know why anything is. Maybe that’s true, but I don’t know.” Why do I need to have that knowledge? That was a rhetorical question, because really the answer is, I need

that for a sense of security, like now I know something. But what about just not knowing anything like that, why anything is the way it is now?

And simply admitting what you actually do know, undeniably, which is only that what is, is with no explanation or cause or reason.

That’s freedom from the known.

Well, when I shared that with her, she had a great response, which was,”wow, what a relief!”

I totally agree. What is it that needs to know that? It’s very clear, I think, isn’t it?

When I, pure being, rise as the self, then I need something to maintain my existence as a separate self. And as I said a few minutes ago, there are many different ways to maintain myself as a separate I. But in this regard, one way is to know why I am the way I am now, because of my past life.

So the desire for the known in this regard is the desire for a sense of security to maintain my existence as ego.

««»»

But when it’s really recognized that, okay, maybe that’s true, but do I actually know? No, I don’t. In fact, what do I actually know?

Nothing, other than what is, is.

When that is reconciled, then the need for security of the known is gone and, simultaneously, the one who needs the security of the known is gone as well, because ego and the need for security are one thing, they’re not two.

When the rising I arises as the need for security of the known, that’s called ego, and when No longer the need for security is there, no longer the ego that needs the security is there as well.

And what’s left? Myself. Free. Free from the known. Free from the need to know.

Free from the one who needs to know.

The one who needs to know is the phantom I, the rising I, the ego that needs something to maintain its existence, something. It needs something. Regret, guilt, remorse, reminiscence, projection, whatever, a million things. It needs something.

With nothing, its existence is over.

««»»

So let’s just be now for a moment, free from the known, free from the need to know, free from the one who needs to know. Just be.

««»»

Can you just be without that false sense of security of the known? You can, so it’s a rhetorical question, but can you?

««»»

What a relief.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 102 Hiding in Open View03 Aug 202600:09:32

Good morning, everyone.

Let’s be on holiday for a moment. You know what that is, right? Pure being, that’s all. Pure being, no name or form. No color or texture. No word or description. Nothing.

««»»

All appearances can be traced back to this. This is the Source. I am the Source.

««»»

Hiding in open view, is this, what I am. Always here. Always the most obvious thing. Always. Whenever I look.

««»»

So, very simple. Just come to this. Just be this. Attend to yourself.

««»»

If you don’t acquiesce to the incessant demands of the mind for attention, and instead attend to yourself, then you’re already home.

««»»

You never leave your home.

The Prodigal Son is simply a myth. It’s an illusion. You’re not the Prodigal Son.

The Prodigal Son is the Phantom I. The belief that it’s lost its home and that it must traverse The Universes to get back to it and seek endlessly.

««»»

But the prodigal son is not real. It’s a phantom. What is real? Sentient, Alive, Life is you, Being. Now.

««»»

All spiritual and philosophical questions are ended, they’re not answered, they’re ended in this, what I am.

««»»

Psychological suffering is not fixed, but it’s ended. In this what I am.

««»»

Seeking is not satisfied because something has been attained. Seeking is ended in this what I am.

««»»

The separating, divisive, judging, comparing, self is not soothed. It is ended in this, what I am.

««»»

To be free, once you are ready and once it’s become clear, is very simple, of course.

The way to be free is to be free.

Like now.

««»»

What more is there to say? Except, it’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 101 A Case of Mistaken Identity02 Aug 202600:05:46

Good morning, everyone.

Yeah, so yesterday we looked a bit into the phantom I, what that actually is. When thoughts arise, they’re always referring to the body. That’s clearly true because thoughts can only refer to their own experience, which is what the body is.

So thoughts of this body can’t be referring to someone else’s body because that’s not where the experience is.

So when thoughts arise and then I, pure knowing being, rise as those thoughts as being what I am, in other words, pure knowing being is not a thought. It doesn’t refer to a body.

It has nothing. It’s just pure knowing being.

But when I, pure knowing being, arise in conjunction with those thoughts, with the feeling that this is what I am, these thoughts, then the self or ego is born.

««»»

And that happens countless times every day.

««»»

But when we have a holiday, we go right back to the root, pure being, knowing, which is prior to the rising I, the phantom I.

And we just remain as that. And we’re home.

««»»

Another thing to do is to see when these thoughts rise, they’re referring to a body, but there’s actually not an I in there. I, pure being, knowing, mistake myself to be that for a moment. But there is no actual I in those thoughts. There are only thoughts referring to something, and then the case of mistaken identity happens. I go into a coma. I become hypnotized to believe that that is what I am, but there actually is no I in there.

««»»

The movement toward freedom is just more and more the movement of being blown wide open. Knowing myself as the objectless pure being that doesn’t refer to anything but itself.

I - I

It doesn’t need a name, or a form, or a time, or history, or preferences, or beliefs, or opinions, or identifications, or descriptions, or name, color, nothing like that.

Needs nothing other than itself.

««»»

I am self-luminous. I am the knowing that knows myself, pure subject with no object, nothing other than myself, only myself.

««»»

And so that’s what a Holiday is, is to be that. The more you are this, the more you recognize the phantom I arising. That’s all.

««»»

And when the phantom I arises, just ask, is this what I am? Or is this just a movement of thoughts?

Is that really what I am? Or that which is at the base of all of it, prior to it, out of which that thought rises.

««»»

And just be that. That’s all. Nothing more.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 100 The Phantom I Can't Withstand Scrutiny01 Aug 202600:12:15

Good morning, everyone.

My voice is a bit craggy today, I’ve had a bad cold for the last few days, but I wanted to be with you, so here I am.

What is this so-called self or ego that we are looking into or trying to transcend or finding out if it exists, all of these things, that are a big part of the inquiry work we do? When thoughts appear spontaneously, which everything does appear spontaneously, but thoughts, when they spontaneously appear, do they, in and of themselves, indicate a self or an ego?

««»»

You might notice that sometimes when you’re on holiday or just walking around, there might be some thoughts playing quietly in the background that you’re not really paying any attention to and you maybe hardly even notice.

So would those thoughts be considered the self or just some little noises in the background?

When thoughts are there and there is the I attached to it, meaning these thoughts refer to me, this body with this name, then you can say that’s what self or ego is.

I, pure being, knowing that is prior to any movement, including the movement of thoughts, am always free, always the subject also.

When an object appears, like thoughts for example, and then I, pure being, associate myself with those thoughts, with the feeling or belief that that’s what I am in this moment, these thoughts refer to me, then self is born or ego is born.

But what those thoughts are always referring to only is this body, not to pure being, what I am essentially. So thoughts being always in reference to this body, when I mistake myself to be that exclusively, I mistake myself to be exclusively this body as well.

So the I is claimed to be this body exclusively. And that’s a very limited way of knowing myself, of course. And that comes and goes. And it’s not to be denied, but it’s a very limited, ephemeral, temporal appearance of what I actually am.

Now this also includes the thought that I am not getting this, or I am not enlightened, or, why don’t I know my true nature? Or, I’m in ignorance in one way or another. That thought is self-looping. I am in ignorance, or I don’t know myself, or I am not enlightened, or whatever that might be. That’s just the thought looping.

And then when I, which is pure being, pure subject, never ignorant, falsely cling to that thought as myself, then there’s the mistaken belief that I am in ignorance, or that I’m not getting this message, or I’m not there yet.

««»»

So now for a moment, let’s just leave all of that and just be here together, blown wide open. Pure being knowing, subject knowing myself, no object other than myself.

««»»

This what I am is never in ignorance, never unawake, never limited, never unliberated or unfree or anything. Never. Always and eternally free.

««»»

Now out of this arises this phantom I -

you can say the real I, I guess, pure subject, knowing that I am pure being -

out of this arises the phantom I that claims itself to be I.

And it has a name and a form and a history and ignorance and unenlightenment and whatever else.

««»»

But whenever you stop for a moment, like now, just know yourself as the subject, pure I, pure being. There’s no ignorance, there’s no unawakening, no unenlightenment, there’s nothing. There’s only pure being.

««»»

There’s no enlightenment or liberation either, for that matter. There just simply is what is. Myself.

««»»

And so, in inquiry, which is very helpful, as soon as the thoughts appear and the phantom self appears, look quickly and see what is the I there. Is there actually an I there on those thoughts? A separate I? Look for it.

««»»

If you do that, then immediately the thoughts will stop and you’ll be back out into the sun.

««»»

The phantom I can’t withstand scrutiny. As soon as it’s looked for, it’s gone.

««»»

Even if there are no thoughts like now for a moment, if you look for an I, if you look for an I separate I, you know, like not the pure being knowing the self, the real infinite being, but if you look for a separate I like now, even with no thoughts, where is it?

««»»

Even if you notice sensations of the body or in the head behind the eyes or something and say, well, there’s an I there. Is it really? Look again.

««»»

These sensations are not I. They don’t say I. They’re just some sensations known, within pure being.

««»»

So really, just look. Find this I. If it’s here, you’ll find it.

And again, when you look for this I, it vanishes immediately. The phantom I can’t withstand scrutiny.

It goes immediately upon being scrutinized.

And what’s left is the eternal pure being knowing what I am. Always.

Always awake.

Always free.

Never in ignorance.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 99 The Real Sentience is What I Am31 Jul 202600:05:57

Good morning, everyone.

Have a holiday.

Let’s just rest now, pure being knowing.

««»»

Not knowing anything particular. Just knowing, consciously knowing, pure being.

««»»

Any thoughts come, no problem. But for a moment, on a holiday there are no thoughts. And so what is here on a holiday with no thoughts is open, Knowing, no flavor, no color, no texture, no personal self, no past, no time at all.

««»»

Simply eternal now, which is synonymous with what I am, pure knowing and being. And so just be that. And you’re already home.

««»»

There’s nothing really more to attain.

It can be for almost everyone that this has to be lived more and more and more. So that its own profound nature is seen more and more clearly and in that it naturally becomes more desirable to be this way.

««»»

Because conversely to be continuously infatuated with the movements of the mind and the body and the world cause tumult and all kinds of anxiety, suffering, Fear, worry, Hope, projection, Imagination.

Everything but your own essential, timeless, pure being that has nothing to it, but still is completely alive.

««»»

Pure life, real life and true life, the real sentience is what I am at essence.

««»»

The real sentience is not in the mind and the movement of mind and the fears of the mind and the projections and hopes and reminiscences. The real sentience is not in the memory of the great old days or the good old days or the terrible old days.

The only real sentience is life now myself, free of egoic movements, projection, like all of those things.

And so I say for a moment, be that.

««»»

See the beauty, see the value. Fall in love with being.

««»»

And you will. Really, unavoidable. The more you are that, the more you are that.

And life carries on. Nothing’s denied.

Work, family, relationships, entertainment, everything is all included. Nothing wrong. But now we have come to know what I say is the natural human condition of health. It’s not the normal human condition, but I say the natural human condition, prior to the movement of all of the unhealthy, egoic appearances is the natural human condition at the root of it all, pure being, knowing.

So now for a moment, enjoy.

««»»

Good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 98 Jump - The Three Carousels of Mind30 Jul 202600:17:18

Good morning, everyone.

I wanted to mention before we meet on a holiday, I recommend not reading the text. I put the transcriptions there because I know for some people reading is preferable or important, but my recommendation is to not read the texts because when I speak something, it opens your own recognition or vision and you should just be with that.

Otherwise, you’re reading the text and looking ahead to the next line, maybe reading forward, and it just keeps you engaged with the mind and not in the actual Holiday. So, of course, everyone do what you like, but I would recommend forget that text unless there’s a real reason that you need to have that text there.

So like now.

««»»

Just be here openly knowing.

««»»

No words are needed for this. The next word is not important at all. Just pure being, consciously aware, knowingly. No name or form or history or any of that stuff.

««»»

That’s what’s important.

««»»

Everyone wants to be happy, everyone wants to be content, at ease, mentally and emotionally healthy.

Of course, completely natural to want that. But where is that found? We go through our life using different strategies or modalities of trying to come to peace, happiness, contentment, freedom, all of those things.

So, I say we’re looking for happiness in all the wrong places.

For example, what I call the carousels of mind. Well, one place we look for happiness is on the psychological carousel. We go into the story of ourself. We find the problems of our past. We look into it to see why am I unhappy now? What’s causing the mess I’m in now psychologically? And we find characters to blame. We find ourselves to blame. We find circumstances to blame. Experiences to blame.

We go around and around and around in this carousel of psychology with the hope and intention that we’ll come to a place where everything is perfectly in order in there and we can come to rest and be happy.

««»»

And of course, while the psychological model has certainly benefit, for sure, for many if not most people, it’s limited in that it can never arrive at a place of actual freedom, free from psychology. You’re never gonna be free from psychology by reifying the psychology.

So the more we go into the psychology, the more we convince ourselves that that psychology is real and formidable and solid. And so we go around and around in a circle, a carousel, looping inside the psychology to come into to some semblance of sanity, mental and emotional health. And yes, some semblance of mental and emotional health can be achieved that way. But freedom can never be achieved that way.

Because the foe, so-called, that we hope to be free of is only solidified in that way. That’s the ego, self, psychology.

««»»

Another carousel many people get on is the philosophical carousel to understand life, understand the mechanisms of enlightenment, or to understand the meaning of why I’m here and where I came from and all of that. And the hope there, of course, ultimately is for the same, is to come to happiness, contentment, peace, and also a level of security, “now I know. Now I know why I’m here. Now I know how the world works. Now I understand the mechanism of enlightenment”. or whatever it might be. So in this sense, this carousel of seeking is to come to some semblance of security with the hope that that semblance of security will give me peace and rest and contentment and happiness. And of course, that’s also extremely limited and never happens. What you’re again doing is reifying the ego, the one that knows and needs to know.

Real security is not in the known like some kind of collected data or concept. Real security actually is in the unknown because when the one who needs to know is gone, what is here is the true peace and security.

So the philosophical carousel, I feel, may be interesting for the mind to chew on and ruminate over, but certainly never gonna bring freedom.

««»»

And then the third carousel which is very alluring and beautiful and romantic and exciting is the spiritual carousel of mind, because that’s what it is.

Reading all the spiritual books, hoping for or having mystical experiences, visiting the teachers and the gurus, sitting on the meditation cushion, having the pictures of the gurus, having the incense and the candles, having the hopes of uniting with the divine, having the hope of transcendental states of consciousness, which can happen.

This spiritual carousel, well, it’s very alluring, isn’t it? I loved my spiritual path, it was great, you know. I had a good time, seven years, traveling all over the world, living with gurus and masters in India, meditating, all of it. Having countless mystical transcendental experiences, it was great. But it didn’t answer my question, which was, “what is liberation?” So at some point I had to give all of that up.

And so when I was ready, then a shift happened, you know.

So that’s the spiritual carousel of mind which also never leads to freedom. How can It? How can the carousels of mind which are looping, supporting, and reifying the separate sense of self ever lead to that which is prior to the separate sense of self? That out from which the separate sense of self appears, how can it lead to that by supporting and reifying it?

It can’t.

««»»

So then what to do? Well, it’s very simple.

Those three carousels spinning around and around, not leading you to freedom, what to do?

Jump.

««»»

Jump off all three of them, like now.

««»»

And immediately you are already home, pure being, knowing, with no object, no psychology, no philosophy, no spirituality. No word to really say, even though I say pure being, knowing, those words don’t mean anything.

To be that doesn’t need any words at all, so jump. And just be.

««»»

And so, what do you want?

And that’s not a challenge, it’s just to see for oneself, what do I want? If I want to get into the psychology, then that’s what I’ll do. No problem. That’s all fine, you know. That’s what I’ll do. I’ll get into the psychology and I’ll keep trying to correct myself and fix things and find the reasons for everything.

Okay, and for most people that’s enough. And maybe even helpful.

Or what do I want? Maybe I like my mind and want to ruminate and understand and read all the philosophy and collect a bunch of information and think I’m solving the meaning of life or something. And no judgment. That’s fine also. If that’s what one is into, great. Enjoy that.

Or what do I want? Maybe I love the romance of the spiritual path, you know? Maybe I still hope, you know, the spiritual path is also replete with hope, future, promise, projection. I’m going to become enlightened in the future. I’m going to merge with the divine in the future. You know, I’m going to be pure in the future. Maybe I want that hope still. Maybe I want all the incense and candles. I like incense myself, so it’s fine.

But you know what I mean, metaphorically.

Maybe I like reading all the books and sitting on the meditation cushion and going to see the teachers and watching the videos endlessly, endlessly, endlessly.

Okay, great. No problem. That’s what I want. Good.

But what if I want freedom?

««»»

And I say, it’s not found in any of those carousels. It’s only found now in your own being, now. Of course. All of those carousels are mind. Psychological mind, philosophical mind, spiritual mind.

It’s all mind.

««»»

Freedom is found in the absence of that kind of mind.

Freedom is found in empty mind, essential mind, which is empty of all of the content and is synonymous with pure knowing being. That’s who I am.

««»»

If you want freedom, have it. Why not?

««»»

So don’t forget I have an Online Mini-Intensive starting on August 22nd and 23rd, two days, full immersion in pure being.

Full immersion for two days.

Fully being jumped off those carousels. It will become more of your default way of being, really genuine recognition. If you’re interested, you can check that out.

««»»

Good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 97 Self Love29 Jul 202600:09:22

Good morning, everyone.

Let’s just be together now for a moment and start your day off in recognition and abidance as pure being, which is prior to all of the movements of the body and the mind. It doesn’t disclude anything. We’re not trying to escape or transcend or avoid. Just seeing what’s here all the time and always, before or underneath the rising of everything else that comes. And in fact, that which is the source of all of that, from which that all arises.

So for a moment, without attending to anything in particular, but simply attending to your own pure being now.

««»»

It’s important to recognize that we’re not noticing another object, something called awareness, or something called pure being, an object that we are aware of, it’s most key and most important to realize that when everything subsides for a moment, I realize that this is what I am, always.

This is I.

««»»

This is the immovable, unchanging, ever-present, eternal I, which has been the same my whole life. I’ve most likely never noticed before. Or if I did, inadvertently, there was no recognition of what it implied or revealed.

But now we see, what does it reveal? Is that in the midst of all of the movements and changes of the temporal field of our being aspect, I am always the same.

««»»

We find contentment here because our being itself is content. Nothing is missing or lacking now in pure being. Any discontent or something like that has to only be attached to the rising I, that which distinguishes itself from everything else, and distinguishes things from each other and finds something inadequate or wrong.

If there’s an idea that there’s something wrong or something wrong with me, it has to be the rising I.

««»»

And again, as always, we just see this, that’s all.

Any effort to get rid of or change or judge or fix, this is also the rising I.

So none of that is required.

What is required is to recognize that which is the source of all of that,

that which is untouched by all of that,

that which is immovable, that which is already pure and clean,

that which is free and content and lacking nothing,

that which has been here my entire life,

that which is eternally here now.

And be that, that’s all that’s required.

««»»

And so when we’re here together every morning,

and I always love coming here in my studio, sitting in my chair, putting on little incense, nice, nice,

and just sitting here openly for a moment and to see what comes.

And so as these words are coming, that’s when I hear them.

Just like you’re hearing them now, I hear them when they come. There’s no pre-thought.

««»»

So we spend a few minutes together here in the morning to start your day, but then keep it in mind throughout the day.

No particular position or asana or stance or eyes closed or open is required at all.

At any moment during your day, take a look.

What’s still here? It’s always here. You can’t fail.

««»»

Have another look throughout the day. Make this more and more your way of being, your way of living.

««»»

And then it just will start happening by itself.

Well, it always happens by itself. That’s silly to say. But will happen more and more. The more it happens, the more it happens. And it becomes more and more your default way of being without any doing or effort or practice, sadhana, anything like that.

Just simply by falling more in love with this way of being, realizing that this way of being is actually self-love.

««»»

Good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 96 Ok, I see. What Now?28 Jul 202600:11:54

Good morning, everyone.

Let’s just be openly knowing for a moment.

««»»

You know what that is now. Most of you, for new people, just instead of attending to anything that’s arising, thoughts or sensations, or anything else, just attend to yourself, pure being, I know that I am, being here.

««»»

It seems often that the appearing objects are the most obvious thing. And of course, sometimes they can be. In fact, probably mostly, most of the time for most people. But really, since everything that appears, appears within this blown wide open pure being, knowing who I am, The truth of the matter is, this is the most obvious. And everything else is really peripheral to this pure knowing.

So be that now.

««»»

And it’s really so very, very simple and so ordinary in a way as well. There’s nothing spiritual, mystical, transcendental about this pure being who I am. It’s me, it’s my essential being.

So why should it be anything extravagant? It’s very simple and very obvious.

««»»

Because it’s so simple and so obvious and so not extraordinary as in some kind of mind-blowing experience or something like that, the idea may come because we have so many concepts about something called enlightenment or liberation that this simple obvious thing, my own being, can’t possibly be it. There must be something more.

««»»

And according to many of the books we’ve read, it seems there is something more.

So then, we run around with those ideas in our mind never really coming to rest and being content in the peace and ease of our own timeless being.

««»»

So it needs to be recognized, and I try to point out during intensives and everything, not only this recognition but to see the intrinsic and huge value in this very simple, obvious way of being.

««»»

Well, for one thing, as opposed to being dragged around all over the place by the endlessly moving mind, the endlessly restless mind, mental activity, instead of being dragged around by that like a, you know, dog on a leash or something, you know.

There’s no dignity in that, is there?

So instead of that, coming to rest means really your own dignity, your own sovereignty, your own self.

And you find peace here, you know. Contentment.

««»»

Well, for some people, this recognition is very, you know, very simple. It’s so simple that, you know, the mind that has so many ideas cannot accept that this can be the Holy Grail or something like that, you know, “this must be more than this, you know, this can’t possibly be it.” It’s understandable. So the mind like that says, “Okay, yeah, great, okay, big deal, great. What next?

What do I do now? What do I do with this?”

««»»

What you do is start more and more cognizing the difference in your own experience from living freedom like this and being enslaved to the ever moving mind.

««»»

What happens is the more you live this way of being, the more profound is your understanding and recognition of what it is. At first, again, it might seem too simple, too ordinary to have any real value or anything, but the more you live this stark difference of way of being, the more you realize how profound this is.

««»»

And also in case the idea is there that now that I know this freedom and I’m just being, does it mean I’m not going to do anything? Well, your life is just the play of Leela, the play of life. Whatever is going to happen is going to happen. You will do many things, most likely. Maybe you’ll sit in a cave, but that’s very unlikely. If the motivation comes up to do something or the interest comes up to do something or the desire comes up to do something, that’s what will happen. That’s not in any way in contradiction to being free, living freedom.

Living freedom is being content and then whatever appears to do, that’s what will happen.

««»»

Life is now, life is ever-present, alive, cognizing this moment now.

Thoughts are dead, they are not sentient. Sentience is you, your pure being, life, now.

Thoughts are not sentience. Thoughts are simply robotic, mechanical replaying of experiences. There’s no life there.

««»»

And yet, we live a vast majority of our life experience infatuated with that movement.

««»»

No judgment. That’s just the human condition, you know. We have to see it for ourselves in our own being, in our own experience, and, you know, be honest, let’s say, be honest, you know.

But not to judge oneself or to think one is doing something wrong or not being enlightened or anything like that at all. Just by using discrimination to see the vast difference in experience between the two and gently begin living more and more as freedom.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 95 Is The Conceptual Mind Needed To Know Yourself as Pure Being27 Jul 202600:13:41

Good morning everyone.

What is freedom? What is the recognition of your own freedom or, you know, essential being? Is it an understanding? Is it an idea or a concept? Is the mind needed at all to know this? The discursive mind, the analytical mind, the intellect, is then any of that needed to know yourself as pure being?

Let’s have a holiday blown wide open, pure knowing being.

««»»

If you know yourself as this, if you recognize the pure being, is this to be found anywhere in a book, anywhere, even the best book?

Is it to be found there, in some words?

How can it be?

««»»

No words can touch this at all. None.

««»»

I don’t want the value of what I’m sharing to have anything to do with the words that I use, but I want the value to be recognized in between the words.

I’ve worked with many hundreds of people over the years, and I see what people write often online. And I see that the philosophic mind is still trying to understand something quite often.

Somehow the idea is there that if I get the proper understanding or put it all together like a puzzle piece in my mind, then that will be the goal of what I’m looking for.

Ramana Maharshi was asked, there was an amazing philosopher that saw Ramana in the early days. Kāvyakaṇṭha Muni, I think his name was, he had a few different names. He was a towering figure of literature and philosophy and everything. He came to Ramana as a devotee of Ramana.

And Ramana’s, of course, teaching is so simple. And his mind was so in love with itself that he couldn’t really ultimately recognize even. He probably felt he understood what Ramana was saying, but that has no bearing on freedom whatsoever.

And he was a towering figure, an amazing poet, like since he was a kid, he was considered like a prodigy. And then when he finally died, Ramana was asked, “did he attain liberation before he died?” Ramana said, “how could he? He was too infatuated with his mind.”

I see a lot of that actually myself. I’m not judging anything, that’s just the way it is.

Let’s be on holiday, see if any philosophy or concept has anything at all to do with freedom.

Look now, look, be nothing. Reduce down to the most common lowest denominator of yourself.

What words?

««»»

Well, mind doesn’t like this one bit, because then it’s out of work, you know. It’s out of business. Mind, by this I mean ego, mind, analytical intellect, discursive mind. It’s out of a job. It’s fired.

And so it revolts.

You have to see for yourself, you know. For the more philosophical, conceptual-minded people, everybody’s different. Everything’s fine.

Really, see for yourself. See if that mind is trying to impose something, understanding or comparison or concept or philosophy. Just see it, that’s all.

««»»

To really just be free of that is not a small thing because it leaves you hanging nowhere, free-falling, with nothing mental or conceptual to claim some kind of false security. “Oh, now I know.” Like that.

««»»

It doesn’t take anything just to be, except, well, not that you choose this, but the willingness to be empty handed completely and utterly.

««»»

What would you be without that false support of conceptual, analytical, discursive, intellectual mind? What would you be?

««»»

Well, nothing special is one thing that comes to mind. Nothing special.

A lot of our intellectualizing and philosophizing is with a bit of an insidious belief that it makes me something to have this great philosophy or understanding or, you know.

Not even in a grandiose way, but just even in a very subtle way, just I have, now I have something that I understand and that makes me, and that keeps me alive as a separate self.

And also the idea that more and more understanding is going to get me somewhere is an endless, endless, unnavigable sea leading nowhere.

««»»

To come out in the sun and be nothing, oh, it’s rare.

There’s no judgment.

There’s nothing to judge. There is discrimination to see in your own experience, in your own being what is still being depended upon.

Often it’s the mind, you know, mostly. Just to see that, that’s all. And then have a holiday from that.

««»»

A holiday is exactly what it suggests. Having a holiday. A break. Have a break.

Have a holiday from all of that for a moment. And just be.

««»»

If you want to be free, you have to be willing to be fired or preferably resign that control.

««»»

Then you know, not with knowledge, not with concept or philosophy, you know in the real meaning of the word, knowing.

Which is the same as being.

««»»

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 94 Pain and Contraction on Holiday26 Jul 202600:13:24

Good morning, everyone.

Just for a moment, let’s be blown wide open. With no rising eye. Just pure being. No past, no future. None of the movements of the personal self.

Just for a moment, make it easy.

««»»

It’s natural to have some ideas that when you recognize this no thing and if you recognize inherent in that is peace and silence and all of that, to have the idea that maybe that should always be the case and that there should not be any movements of the body-mind. But clearly that’s not true in your own experience.

The body is the experiencing entity. It’s that which experiences. If it was only intended to experience pleasant things, then that’s all it would experience. But clearly that’s not all it was intended to experience.

Anything and everything will happen to the body. Pains, contractions, etcetera. The body itself is a contraction itself. Of course, it’s a limitation.

And so there are all kinds of things happening. And sometimes there are very extreme things happening in the body, some illnesses or pains that are extreme. It can be things like trigeminal disease, which I know is unbearably painful. And there can be any number of other pains and illnesses and contractions, and cancers

And so when an extreme acute pain is happening in the body, then to expect to experience or feel the peace and stillness of your essential being is not realistic, is it?

When not much is happening and you’re sitting around on holiday, nice, nice, you know. Not much happening in the mind, not much happening in the body. Then it’s very easy to recognize that peace and stillness and to get the idea that a holiday means that that’s going to happen always.

And that’s not true.

A holiday just simply means that I know that I am. And if there’s a toothache, there’s a toothache and I know that I am. And there won’t be the experience of peace and silence, there will be the experience of a toothache.

But the knowing that I am will still be the same.

Ramana Maharshi died of cancer. He had a tumor in his arm and it was very painful. And it has been written that there were nights where he would be heard in his room where he slept moaning and crying out in pain. That’s Ramana Maharshi. And according to him, according to the ideas of that work, he knows he’s not the body.

And yet the body still cried out in pain. He cried out in pain.

A holiday is not a panacea to feel good in every moment.

It certainly is a very good way to alleviate a lot, or all of the psychological suffering we endure because of just the bad habit of believing that story and going into it, into it, into it, into it, into it. So now we have an alternative and we can come out into the sun instead of going into that story and being infatuated with that. And so psychological suffering can be greatly alleviated or completely.

The suffering of past traumas as well can be greatly alleviated. Because all of that is, the story aspect of all of that is temporal and evanescent. It just comes and goes in the mind.

The somatic aspects of that are something different, of course, you know. Those are in the body and those are slower to rise and slower to subside as well.

Thoughts can stop, like now.

««»»

But sensations in the body and emotions are much slower. And so the somatic aspects of trauma, for example, when they arise, they may last for a while. But they’re given fuel, tremendous amount of fuel, to keep themselves going because of the story attached to it. The mind going into it and into it and into it again and again, going over it. That fuels the sensorial, somatic aspect of the trauma.

When you take your foot off the gas pedal, the fuel to that stops, and that means coming out into the sun a holiday, take your foot off the gas pedal, and then that somatic aspect has time to slow down, soften.

But there are other things too, you know, extreme disease that cause acute pain that really in and of themselves have nothing to do with the psychology.

What to do about those?

Really nothing you can do about it. I mean, yes, you can take practical medical steps to help, of course, and one should do that.

But even in extreme pain, one can still know that they are, but not with the hope it’s going to alleviate the pain or anything like that.

And just general contractions of the body that happen. There’s some challenge in life or whatever, an argument, whatever it might be, and then the body tenses up.

That kind of thing can be greatly helped with holidays. In the midst of a contracted sensation of the body where you feel tense or anxiety or something, you know, get real for a moment. Come into the sun of pure being and really just be there.

And I know it’s not spiritually correct to say, but in a way, ignore those contractions in favor of attending to pure being your own, most intimate self.

And then in that there is no rising I here, no ego here trying to get rid of that contraction, thinking there’s something wrong. In the moment of a holiday the rising I that has those ideas is not here. Then there’s pure being and maybe some contraction in the body.

But resting more and more as pure being can certainly loosen that, for sure.

But if you have a serious illness, cancer or trigeminal or some other serious medical things that are extremely painful, well, you know, it’s not nice, but that’s what is. And you may be moaning and shouting in pain, of course. Likely I would as well.

But now, hopefully nothing too extreme is going on for you, so let’s have a holiday.

And let’s be with this moment now without referring to the body at all.

««»»

Just unborn being with no rising eye here for a moment.

««»»

That’s really all I wanted to say about that particular topic.

««»»

And it’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.

Good Morning Wake Up - Ep. 93 The Unbound Space of Pure Being25 Jul 202600:10:31

Good morning, everyone.

Without attending to anything in particular, thoughts or emotions or the body, sensations, sensory objects, but instead attending only to pure being itself, subjective consciousness, you realize and recognize that’s not an object separate from yourself, but that’s what you are.

You are this pure being knowing.

««»»

Out of this pure being knowing arises the phantom ‘I’

associated with the thoughts that it has, all of which are essentially about itself, this phantom ‘I’.

‘I’ is always the root of those thoughts in one way or another.

When we’re not attending to that phantom and all of its associated colors and flavors and movements and thoughts, but instead attending to ourself, we come to know ourselves as instead of the phantom I, we come to know ourselves as the unbound space of pure being.

Like now.

««»»

Now you don’t become this, you realize that this is what I am in essence. And you can see clearly that everything that rises out of this in the mind is the phantom I.

It doesn’t actually exist as a thing, or as anything substantial, or as anything permanent. It’s an evanescent bubbling rising out of the unbound space of pure being, which is what you are.

««»»

So much of the movement of thought is completely random, mechanical, rote, repetitive, unnecessary, has no purpose other than keeping the phantom I alive, so to speak.

««»»

So we just see how habitually infatuated with that movement we are. No fault, of course. It’s the human condition, isn’t it?

But we see there’s another way of being, isn’t there?

Until we come to recognize this other way of being, which is what a holiday reveals, then there is no alternative. But once we have come to recognize what a holiday reveals, now there’s an alternative. And so what do we want?

««»»

Abiding as the unbound space of pure being is freedom.

««»»

And the more we abide thus, the more we see the alternative is really, well, suffering. It has to become that where you really recognize that all of that mental activity, even if it seems unimportant or random or whatever, being infatuated with that or living in that way is a very constricted, contracted way of being. And when you recognize more and more the unbound space of pure being that you are, you recognize that other way as suffering.

««»»

And it’s unnecessary. It offers nothing of benefit, except, as I said, to maintain its own phantom existence.

««»»

So without attending to anything of that, simply attending to your own self, the unbound space of pure being, be free.

While you’re walking around today, wherever you might be walking, be consciously aware of this unbound space of pure being as who I am.

While you’re cooking, be consciously aware of this unbound space of pure being, who I am.

Even while you’re watching a movie, be consciously aware of this unbound space of pure being, who I am.

While you’re having a shower, while you’re doing anything and everything, be aware of the unbound space of pure being, who I am.

««»»

If you would like to join the mini-intensive coming up in August, this is what we’re going to be doing for the two full days, during the calls and even in between the calls and after the calls.

Just abiding as this really very, very clearly making it doubtless for you. So yeah, I hope to see you there.

It’s good to be with you. I’ll be back again tomorrow. Peace.
