What began as a simple idea rooted in my master's thesis has blossomed into a powerful platform. In this podcast we amplified voices from around the world, exploring the deep connections between gender and climate change.

In this episode we celebrate the impact we've made and reflect on the diverse topics we've covered: from the vital role of water in our lives to the power of storytelling in driving social change.

I am profoundly grateful to each guest who has shared their expertise and to you, our listeners, for your unwavering support. Today we have Dr. Anne Karpf on the podcast, sharing about her book "How Women Can Save the Planet", her family background and what made her write that book. A research book for people who don't know anything about the Gender-Climate-Nexus. Anne is Professor of Life Writing and Culture at the London Metropolitan University, a writer, sociologist and experienced public speaker. She has published five books, one of which she has won awards with and is the very topic of this podcast. In our conversation today Anne shares about how important her daughter Lola was for her in order to write that book, how the Gender-Climate-Nexus shows in real life and which scenario she envisions for the future. Mandana is a social development professional with 30 years of work experience in gender and migration, gender equality and social justice. She spent 18 years promoting the rights of women and girls, migrants, refugees and displaced people in countries affected by conflict and protracted crises, notably in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Our guest today is Katherine Lucey, who has been actively campaigning for gender equality and climate justice for more than 14 years. Her social business, Solar Sister, bridges the gap between empowering women and contributing to a greener world. These women are leaders in climate action by bringing green and clean energy to their communities. By generating an income, they are no longer portrayed as helpless victims, but as the valuable and active members of the community that they are.


Today is International Women's Day. Let's celebrate women around the world! And at the same time shout to the world: Climate change is not gender neutral! Gender Justice = Climate Justice

#33: Aurore Dudka, how can communities solve the energy crisis?

Europe's energy situation has been exacerbated by the war in Ukraine. So, alongside the climate crisis, we have an energy crisis that affects everyone: businesses, individuals, hospitals, etc. Energy is a fundamental element of our world and simultaneously largely responsible for climate change. In this episode, Annika talks to Aurore Dudka about how the lack of energy impacts people differently by their gender.

Aurore is an expert in the economics and sociology of energy innovation. She is currently working on her PhD at the University of Milan, Italy, on the topic of women in energy communities, questioning their under-representation and trying to understand the barriers they might face. They discuss Aurore's topic of expertise and she shares her vast knowlege on how to jointly as communities overcome the energycrisis. With this in mind, let Aurore inspire you and show you ways in which we can achieve stable energy supplies together.
