Hey Fort Wayne, Indiana! We are a city who has proven ourselves to be passionate and lovers of the game of soccer from the earliest ages to the professional ranks. We have teams that are willing and able to compete at any and all levels despite being such a small market. And it's time we start talking about it. My name is Brian Biedenbach. I'm a podcaster, I'm a video content creator with Summit City Studios and I've been part of Cincinnati Soccer Talk for the last three seasons. And it's time to finally bring the soccer talk to the city where I live. And that's why we've assembled a fantastic team of soccer minded individuals. I'm talking college coaches, high school coaches, we've got parents of young players, we've got folks involved in local clubs here in Fort Wayne to bring you Fort Wayne Footy. This week FWFC travels to West Virginia for a midweek match against the Chaos and will be back home next Saturday for their second meeting with the Dayton Dutch Lions. Fort Wayne FC took the show on the road this week for a stretch of 2 games. This Saturday they squared off against the Dayton Dutch Lions and and snatched a 2-0 victory. Next week they travel to Lexington to play Lexington SC II and look to continue their winning ways. But Fort Wayne FC wasn't the only team in action this weekend. 1927 SC played a thriller with Grand Rapids SC and stole the victory in the 94th minute. Fort Wayne FC had a tough task ahead of them on Saturday facing a U23 side from Atlas FC in the Mexican premier league (Liga MX). Fort Wayne entered the match after two tough losses in league play. It was a hard fought match, but after 87 minutes of play, it was Beaubrun who finally broke through with a winning goal for Fort Wayne. Unfortunately they didn't leave the match the same way. The high school regional semi-finals and finals were held this past week and though so many of our area teams participated, only one still remains in the competition. We'll recap those regional matches and see what's ahead for the Blackhawk Christian boys as they advance to the state semi-finals. Also, Fort Wayne FC recently announced they are going with a new look as they head into a new league. The details of their rebrand have not been released but will be this Thursday evening and we'll be there to cover it. Listen for more details. The high school soccer season is getting more exciting as teams get deeper into conference play. When those conference matches end in a draw, the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) gives conferences the option to end it as it is or to decide the match by penalty kicks. Here in Fort Wayne we've seen several matches this week decided by penalties and tonight we will discuss why this is or is not a good thing for the game.
