161. Can You Predict Job Success with the Enneagram?

mardi 6 août 2024Duration 15:49

The Enneagram can help you understand your personality type and those of your colleagues. It can help you anticipate challenges, provide specific growth guidance, and navigate the complexities of the workplace with greater empathy and awareness.

It cannot however predict the future. It can't tell you who will be amazing at their job, or tell you which types are best for certain roles.

Listen in to hear two recent, real-workplace examples of why we want to be careful with putting types into job boxes or believing we need a specific type for a role.

62. The Difference Between Enneagram Type 2 and Type 9

Season 2 · Episode 62

mardi 24 mai 2022Duration 08:48

The confusion between the Type 2 and Type 9 is probably the most common mistyping pair I personally see in my business.

There are a lot of similarities between them including being very service-oriented, others first mentality, friendly, optimistic, and because of all of that, they can both sight of their own needs as they're helping everyone else.

At the same time, there are some key differences in their inner workings that's important to know if this is a pair you're stuck between.

Most Twos, if they were being honest, could admit that they can get almost anyone (that they want - they don't care about being liked by everyone) to like them. While a Nine wants to be liked, their priority is finding harmony, connection, and peace.

Nines have a tendency to idealize others and only see the good. Twos have an ability to see others deeply - their hurt, needs, and fragilities - and actually use it to feel closer to others and to feel needed.

Most Twos will walk the extra mile for those they care about and help in very practical ways, whereas a Nine is someone you'd go to be comfort and reassurance, but may struggle to provide the practical help you need.

Listen in to get more clues into the difference between these two types to help you clarify your dominant type!

60. The Ultimate Leadership Matchup - Am I an Enneagram Type 3 or Type 8?

Season 2 · Episode 60

mardi 17 mai 2022Duration 19:29

Are you ready to get to work to solve this Enneagram mystery?

This is the ultimate entrepreneur/leader mashup - Type 3 known as the The Achiever, The Performer, and The Role Model with Type 8 known as The Boss, The Protector, and The Challenger.

Similarities:

Both Type 3 and Type 8 have the forward-thinking and fast-paced assertive energy.

Leadership tends to come more natural for these types and they both can be very ambitious and very competitive. They want to rise above the rest, but how they go about that is very different.

Core Drivers

At the end of the day though, the thing that makes a Three a Three and an Eight an Eight is their core driver or core strategy for getting their needs met and aligning most with their key values.

For a Type 3 that is to feel outstanding, successful, and accomplished.

For a Type 8 that is to feel powerful, strong, and in control.

Key differences

When the core strategy still isn't clear, there are some important key differentiators for these two to help you continue to narrow down your dominant type, including:

✔️dealing with stress
✔️your relationship with what others think of you
✔️how you handle problems
✔️what you tap into first (without thinking about it) when you make a decision

59. Working and Creating Like a Type 9 Woman with Bonni Mace 9w8 and Kelsie Wilhoit 9w1

Season 2 · Episode 59

jeudi 12 mai 2022Duration 56:28

The Enneagram Type Nine goes about getting their needs met and avoid pain by striving to feel at peace.

Type Nines tend to be relaxed, calm, grounded, inclusive, open-minded, and excellent listeners.

That same energy can also fuel passiveness, conflict avoidance, becoming out of touch with their own thoughts and opinions, and feeling invisible.

Inside this week's interview episode, you'll hear from two Type 9 creators and entrepreneurs, Bonni Mace of Empathetic Enneagram and Kelsie Wilhoit of Healthy9Club  about working and living life with the Peacemaker energy.

You'll hear about their view on life, hustle, stress, and getting visible and sharing their opinion, even when it's not always comfortable and even when they don't always feel like.

Regardless if you identify as a Type 9 or  not, you'll get so much from hearing Kelsie and Bonni's experiences and some of their favorite resources and business strategies!

58. The Difference Between Enneagram Type 1 and Type 4

Season 2 · Episode 58

mardi 10 mai 2022Duration 07:50

"Is it possible that your number changes over the years? I remember being a 1 like five or six years ago, and now I did the test just for fun and I'm a 4 apparently (?)"

This was such a great question I got over on Instagram the other day. While these two types on the surface may look very different, there are some very interesting similarities that do make this confusing sometimes.

Both are very idealistic, Ones have an ideal version of how the world "should" be and Fours have an idealistic version of themselves. And both deal with the specific feeling of frustration (along with Type 7s) when that ideal version isn't lived up to.

Most confusing though can be that when a One is in stress, they move to a Type Four, where they inner critic intensifies and they can slip into more depressed feelings.

And then a Four is in growth or feeling secure, it's Arrow is to a One, bringing the needed structure and routine to their ideals and creative projects.

Key differences covered in the episode include:

1) how they each make decisions
2) their orientation to time
3) how they get their needs met
4) how they handle conflict
5) handling the common good vs. personal desires

56. The Difference Between a Type 7 and Type 8

Season 2 · Episode 56

mardi 3 mai 2022Duration 07:31

A client of mine had historically thought she was a Type 8, but the more she's learning about the Enneagram the more she's realizing she may actually be a Type 7 with a strong Wing 8.

Many of the behaviors of the Type 8 were reflective of her own, but the core motive of a Type 7 was resonating more.

At the end of the day, that's what makes a type a type - the core motive and core fear.

For a Seven, the core desire is to be satisfied, without emotional pain, and with lots of freedom and choices.

For Eights, the core desire is to be strong, powerful, and in control to protect themselves from being vulnerable and taken advantage of in any way.

Sevens tend to be the Idealist Optimist with Eights being the Hard-Nosed Realist.

Both are in the Assertive Stance along the Type 3 and have that forward-thinking, fast-paced energy. Both have a lot of energy to go after what they want, tend to focus on their individual desires, and both resist limits and control of any kind. How they go about that though is a little different.

While Sevens avoid pain and will explain hard situations away or look to escape conflict, Eights accept pain, being more comfortable to confront conflict and difficult situations head on.

While Sevens look for variety, Eights tend to look for intensity.

Both will rebel, but Sevens with a "soft-rebellion" and Eights with a much more direct rebellion.

Sevens value freedom over almost anything else, while Eights value power.

Eights are in the Body Center with a strong gut-reaction. Sevens are in the Head Center with a brilliant and quick mind but will struggle to stay grounded and practical like an Eight.
