Hi, I’m Rene Thompson and I’m so excited that you’re here on the Embracing ‘The Change’ podcast. I was anxious, bloated all the time and never really felt rested even after sleeping for 9 hours. I didn’t know the words to use to explain it to anyone who could help me and ended up convinced that I was just crazy. To be honest I was acting like I was too. I was SO over it all! But I discovered the secrets to being healthy in my 40’s and you know? It’s not as complicated as we are led to believe. I discovered how to thrive EVEN in these middle years using a simple blueprint that is available to everyone. After learning about these tools I kept studying and added onto the Registered Nurse’s certification that I already had - - Holistic Health Coaching - Life Coaching, - Strategic Intervention, - Aromatherapy and - Self-Discovery systems of the 5 Love Languages, the Enneagram and the 6 Psychological Human Needs And I am here to let you know there is HOPE for thriving as a busy, muddling-in-the-middle woman. 23 | Cruise Control Part 2 | How I Avoided Losing My Mind at Sea

Season 1 · Episode 23

dimanche 29 juin 2025Duration 21:11

Yes, cruising can be dreamy… but let’s be real—it’s also loud, crowded, overstimulating, and full of soft-serve temptation.

In this follow-up episode, I’m sharing the lifestyle strategies that kept me sane, centered, and mostly un-sweaty while surrounded by people 24/7 on a floating hotel.

We’ll talk about how I stayed active (without living at the gym), how I protected my precious alone time as a proud introvert, and the gentle routines that helped me reset.

Whether you're planning a cruise or just craving more margin in your life, this episode is your reminder that self-awareness and structure are your best travel companions.

22 | Cruise Control Part 1 | How I Lost 4.5kg On A Cruise

Season 1 · Episode 22

dimanche 22 juin 2025Duration 32:22

Yes, you read that right—I lost 4.5kg on a cruise.

And no, it wasn’t from food poisoning or sea sickness. In this episode, I’m sharing exactly how we navigated two weeks of all-you-can-eat buffets, limited food choices, and constant temptation... and still disembarked lighter, clearer, and calmer.

We talk about how we planned our mealtimes, made the best possible choices with what was available, and why self-control was easier when we remembered how bad we felt when we didn’t use it.

You’ll hear the truth about what happened when we gave in to the grains, sugar, and processed options—spoiler alert: the aches, bloating, constipation, and crankiness came right back.

If you’ve ever felt like holidays have to mean falling off the wagon, this episode is your permission to rethink that. You can still enjoy yourself without undoing all your progress—and it might even feel better than you think.

-intentionally connecting with myself and nature around me, and

In this honest and empowering episode, we’re unpacking the difference between weight loss and fat loss, and why the number on the scale is only part of the story. We’ll talk about what the gym is really for (hint: it’s not punishment), and how stress can sabotage even the best intentions when it comes to your hormones and your health.

19 | How Not to Look Old | Posture, Presence & Personal Style After 40

Season 1 · Episode 19

dimanche 1 juin 2025Duration 22:00

Wrinkles don’t age you nearly as fast as slouching, sour expressions, or giving up on what makes you feel radiant.

This episode was recorded to the accompaniment of roosters and an inordinant amount of traffic on our country road, keeping it all VERY real.  Haha!

Today we’re ditching stereotypical expectations of how we look while we age and talking real strategies for showing up with confidence in midlife.

From posture that projects vitality, to clothing that flatters without trying too hard, and facial expressions that tell the world “I’m still here”—you’ll learn simple ways to feel pulled-together without chasing youth.

This is about presence, not perfection. Because looking vibrant doesn’t mean erasing your age—it means owning your wisdom, your joy, and the face that’s lived a full life.
