#86 - 6 Key Email Sequences to Make Your Launch a Huge Success14 Feb 202200:16:27

You've done all the hard work to generate buzz, built your email list, and crafted the perfect offer. So now what?

One of the most critical aspects of planning your launch is your email sequences. The internet and every launch expert have their own strategy tips on how to convert your offer at the highest numbers possible. But, here’s the kicker… copying someone else's offer has no value because your audience, you, and your offer are different. While everything you have read or run across all has its place, there are six key email sequences that are a must-have no matter what strategy you develop.

What you will learn:

  1. Pre-launch Sequence: The pre-launch email sequence serves one purpose, to warm up your list before your launch.
  2. Launch Runway Sequence: As the saying goes, "build it, and they will come." Apply the same concept here.
  3. Open-Cart Sequence: During an open cart email, you should be sure to explain why the product works for them, how it solves a specific problem, and why they need it now.
  4. Abandoned Cart Sequence: Your checkout system may not allow you to track abandoned carts, but if it does, sending a three-email sequence could boost your ROI by 3-5%.
  5. Cart Close Sequence: Cart closing is the most powerful part of your launch. Adding in the urgency and scarcity on the last day the cart is open (and offer is available) always brings in that final push to reach your revenue goal.
  6. Post Launch Sequence: No matter what, don't stop the communication. Customers and non-customers are still part of your overall ecosystem and should be nurtured 100% of the time.

#85 - 9 Expert Tips to Achieve Maximum Funnel Conversions From the Experts 08 Feb 202200:18:29

How is conversion related to ROI? As we all know, conversion is a key driver of ROI for your business. Over my 20 years in marketing, I have witnessed time and time again business owners, just like you, work endless hours burning the midnight oil to launch the perfect funnel. Since the customer journey has changed many times since online marketing began to be the future of sales, conversions no longer depend on solely good copywriting and pretty graphics. In today’s episode, let's take a look at these 9 tips to improve your funnel conversion and increase your ROI!

What you will learn:

  1. The Landing Page: To build an effective marketing funnel, you need to find out how to attract visitors to your page and then join your ecosystem.
  2. Optimize META Data and SERPs: Optimizing your presence on SERPs (search engine results page) by writing helpful, strategic meta descriptions for your pages.
  3. Relationship Management: The more customer-centric your company is, the more successful it will be.
  4. Cart Abandonment: The cart abandonment rate is close to 70% and 86% on mobile across all industries. Creating an abandonment strategy will increase your ROI.
  5. A/B Split Testing: A/B testing is the gold standard for optimizing your website. It removes all the guesswork, enabling experienced optimizers to make data-backed decisions.
  6. Upsells + Downsells: By showcasing these to your customers, you'll be able to make more cash right away.
  7. Live Chat: Live chat software is the perfect way to convert more visitors into customers. It is a lot like a face-to-face interaction in that it is incredibly engaging.
  8. Remarketing Or Retargeting: With success rates of only about 2% for first-time visitors, remarketing is the only way to reach the other 98% of people.
  9. Testimonials + Social Proof:  Testimonials and Social Proof give consumers confidence in your offer and products.

#84 - Launch Failure? 6 Things To Do When Things Don't Go According to Plan01 Feb 202200:14:23

Launches are a big part of any successful business strategy and can be risky, but they're worth it in the end. It's understandable to be disappointed if the launch you were planning for months didn't go as planned. It happens to the best of us. The good news is that even the most aspirational business gurus and leading lights of entrepreneurship have experienced rejection and failure and managed to bounce back.

There IS a silver lining in this story. Today, let's look at six of my favorite tips for planning, managing, and bouncing back from launch failure to success:

What you will learn:

  1. Solve a real problem: Businesses must solve actual problems if they want to succeed. Why? Because trying to solve something that doesn't exist is pointless.
  2. Social proof for the win: Don’t underestimate the power of social proof. Social proof is essential in the launch process — and there are plenty of ways to incorporate it into your strategy.
  3. Build anticipation: Start building your audience and connection with them from the moment you start working on your product or service, and it will better equip you for a successful launch.
  4. Timing is everything: Keep up with your deadlines, work hard, and make sure you’re launching before your competition.
  5. Post launch follow-up: Capitalize the cash infusion window after cart close for those one the fence buyers.
  6. Show up for the experience:  The journey is achieved during the launch experience. Show up positive and take away all the good, and bad, lessons to learn.

#83 - Increase Client Lifetime Value With A World-Class Experience24 Jan 202200:19:33

CLV is a metric for understanding your customers. It predicts how much net profit your relationship with a client can bring to your business over a period of time.

Increasing your business' CLV might be as easy as changing your billing cycle from monthly to yearly or as tricky as completely revamping your customer service and support procedures. Although the process may seem a little daunting at first, believe me when I tell you, it is entirely worth it!

What you will learn:

  1. Improve Your Onboarding Process: First impressions matter! The onboarding process gives you a chance to really engage with your customer and is where you can have the most beneficial influence on their future choices, so make sure you get it right!
  2. Upsell & Cross-Sell Where Possible: Upselling and cross-selling are two of the simplest methods to increase your CLV. The more upsell and cross-sell opportunities you show clients, the higher the chances they'll take one, so offer them everywhere you can!
  3. Consider Switching to an Annual Billing Cycle: Encouraging clients to commit to one whole year of your service, product, program, etc., is an easy way to improve your CLV.
  4. Seek feedback: CLV and customer experience are inextricably linked. If you want to improve CLV, you must improve the user experience using customer feedback. It's really that simple!
  5. Provide Unbeatable Customer Service: Better customer service leads to better customer experiences, which as a result, leads to more committed clients!

#82 - How To Make Your ICA The Center Of The Story & Lead Them On A Journey To YOU!19 Jan 202200:16:43

We are all the main characters in our own stories, and your customers are no different! When you take time to understand your ICA's needs, wants, and preferences and use this to shape your marketing efforts, you build a level of trust and rapport with your audience that will prove invaluable in the long run.

A customer-centric marketing strategy maximizes opportunities for you to connect with your ICA and position yourself as someone who wants to support them - not someone who just wants their money. When your customers feel heard and appreciated, they are more likely to interact with you by following you on social media, signing up for that how-to guide, making a purchase, or recommending your services to a friend!

Making your customer the hero in your story isn't difficult; it just requires a different approach!

What you will learn:

  1. If you don't know who your ICA is, you’re wasting your time: Getting crystal clear on the type of person you're trying to attract when you publish any kind of content is the fastest way to build a thriving business.
  2. The customer should always be the star of the show: If you want customers to buy from you, you must tell a story in which they are the hero, not you!
  3. Success is found in the supporting role: Focusing on how you can meet the demands and needs of your audience, not on all of the wonderful things you have to offer, will bring you success.

#81 - 6 Steps to Capturing & Nurturing Leads to Conversion14 Jan 202200:20:35

Every user has their pain point, and they're looking for products or services that can help them address that pain point. If you make the right first impression, you can convert your lead into an actual customer. But, and this is very important, your efforts to build relationships with your leads don't stop there. This is where you start to nurture your leads, so they buy from you when they are ready. I call this your lead generation strategy.

Luckily, there's a tremendous opportunity for savvy marketers and business owners (like you) to implement effective lead capture and nurturing strategies. Below, let's look at six of the most common that will work for any stage of business.

What you will learn:

  1. Different opt-ins: To build trust and learn about your perfect customer, pepper different options for their email on your website.
  2. Lead generation bots: Lead bots are the new best friend of marketers everywhere. Lead bots are simply chatbots set up to capture contact information and qualify your leads.
  3. Lead Magnets: A lead magnet that will work needs to align with your core message and entice people into exchanging their email for it.
  4. Email Marketing: Email marketing is where the gold's at. This is the #1 asset that you own entirely.
  5. Lead Scoring:  Lead scoring is an effective way to rank your prospects' interest in your offers. It's also a way of determining how valuable they are to your organization.
  6. Multiple Touches:  A prospect typically needs ten touches to turn into a customer in today's market. A little more effort on your part can go a long way.

When it comes to marketing, sometimes it feels like you're invisible. You've invested time and energy into creating content, writing marketing emails and posts, but the response is lackluster at best. No matter how hard you work, your prospects aren't converting.

Marketing is the secret sauce that attracts your ideal client and gets them coming back for more. Your writing needs to be compelling. Your copy should showcase your personality, be captivating, and stand out among the competition. However, to create compelling content, you must first know your customer avatar (ICA).

Let's dive right in this week on How To Select Your ICA & Craft Your Compelling Message Like an Expert.

What you will learn:

1. Nailing Down Your Perfect Clients ICA - I believe that it is better to identify your ideal customer instead of targeting a niche or a target market.

2. Avoid These Two Common Mistakes - Avoid asking irrelevant or vague questions. This will result in unclear content and messaging.

3. Tell Them a Story - Implement the SB-7 Framework of StoryBrand into your marketing.

  • Start with a Character
  • Address the Problem
  • Be the Guide
  • Have a Plan
  • Call to Action
  • Success
  • Failure

4. Mastering Marketing Hooks - A catchy marketing hook is an extension of your brand that attracts customers with memorable phrases, slogans, or jingles. Adding these into your marketing will help you stand out from the rest.

#78 - The Art of Social Media Marketing: 8 Common Mistakes to Avoid21 Dec 202100:18:48

Social media marketing is the rocket fuel that makes your content go viral. The problem? It can be pretty difficult for many entrepreneurs to strike a balance between engaging consumers and to be focused on their core business. If you're not careful, though, you can easily transgress the unwritten laws of social media, and that will cost you time and money.

Social media marketing has changed the way businesses reach their customers' hands down. If you're on social media, then you've probably made at least one of these eight common mistakes; that's if you haven't made them all.

Let's look at how to prevent that in today’s episode: The Art of Social Media Marketing: 8 Common Mistakes to Avoid.

What you will learn:

  1. Working Without a Plan - Instead of letting your schedule fly by like the wind, why not use it to plan out the content you want to put online?ite with your target audience in mind but make it engaging.

  2. Assuming Your Audience is Everyone - If you try to reach everyone, you'll reach no one.

  3. Buying Followers - Buying followers will only hurt you because it makes it look like your company has something to hide.

  4. Choosing the Wrong Tone - Don't be afraid to experiment with using language on social media. Quirky, clever, funny — whatever works for you.

  5. Using Irrelevant Hashtags - Hashtags can be beneficial for staying on top of important topics and keywords related to your business, but like most things in life, they are only helpful if used correctly.

  6. Staying Silent - The world is talking about you every day. Are you talking back?

  7. Deleting Negative Comments -  Always remember to be sensitive when responding to negative comments on social media, or else you may come across as offensive or even desperate.

  8. Being Unremarkable & Unbending - Marketers assume that the only way they can make something go viral is if they use controversial topics or images to get attention — but that couldn't be farther from the truth.

#76 - 7 Secret Steps to Successful Content + Free Workbook07 Dec 202100:22:30

If you want to become a successful content creator, you must write engaging content. Captivating readers and keeping them interested is key to continued and repeat traffic. Maybe this sounds overwhelming, or you hit writer's block consistently, luckily writing content is easier than you think. It's like riding a bike. Once you've got a system, you'll never fret over it again.

Many of us know that by keeping it simple and focusing all our efforts on one thing at a time, we will streamline our outputs and achieve significant results. I learned early on, one way to make writing content more effortless and more consistent is to "batch" produce them. I am sure you've heard this term before, especially if you've been in business for any amount of time.

But what does batching content look like?

In today’s episode let’s dive into 7 Secret Steps to Successful Content + Free Workbook

What you will learn:

  1. Brainstorm Content Ideas - Brainstorm topics, questions, images, interactive ideas, influencers and other ideas that can educate and add value to the lives of your target audience.

  2. Conduct Keyword Research - Keywords help people find your website and content.

  3. Create Your Outlines - Some people aren't too keen on creating outlines, but it's good to have something to help you stay on track with your writing.

  4. Write the Blog Posts - Sit down and focus on the intro, or if you're stuck on coming up with a snappy opening line, move on to another portion of the content.

  5. Proofreading & Editing - After you've reviewed your copy several times, I suggest giving it some time to rest before you make changes. Then make those changes, and proofread the copy again.

  6. Add the Bells and Whistles - By "bells and whistles," I mean things like the image used for the header, the descriptive words and tags used in the copy, the style of the layout, CTAs, including social sharing buttons, and so on.

  7. Create a Content River - Your blog/podcast/YouTube video/email and social campaigns should all be in alignment. Why keep recreating the wheel when you can easily create a social content river off just one piece of content.

#75 - The Machine Learning Strategy That Makes Facebook Ads More Profitable30 Nov 202100:21:07

Facebook is king. But, don't take my word for it; just ask someone if they have a Facebook account. The chances are that they will say "Yes!"

Do you know how many people use Facebook every month? Over 2.6 billion users! And 1.73 billion of those users are on it daily. So I know you can see the opportunity here.

So, let's talk about ads! What used to be a simple way for brands to reach their customers is now a complicated mess of algorithms and machine learning. Chances are that your company will pay just as much money for fewer views than before. With personalized ads, brands can cost-effectively reach customers. They help businesses grow, create jobs, and provide people with a better experience. Through Facebook's auction system, where machine learning is taking over, advertisers can produce the perfect ad for the perfect person.

In today’s episode let’s dive into The Machine Learning Strategy That Makes Facebook Ads More Profitable.

What you will learn:

  1. How does Facebook decide which ads to show - Facebook uses two factors in its advertising algorithm: targeting and auction.

  2. What is Machine-Learning - Machine learning is a type of artificial intelligence that's designed to learn from experience rather than being pre-programmed.

  3. How does machine learning improve ad delivery - Facebook's system collects information to improve its calculations, ultimately maximizing value for both parties and ad delivery.

  4. What controls are available to consumers to control their ad delivery experience - Consumers can use the Ad Preferences and "Why am I seeing this" feature to control what ads show up in their ad feed.

#73 - 10 Time Management Tips to Help You Reach Your Goals16 Nov 202100:31:23

As business owners we often feel like we do not have enough time in the day. Personally, it isn't easy to accomplish my work goals and personal aspirations if I don't manage my time wisely. Over the past 20 years I have learned that the more time I spend doing one thing, the less time I have to do other things. If you're reading this, then the chances are that you're feeling the same way.

It is challenging, if not impossible, to predict one's success. A considerable percentage of people will predict they won't succeed at their goals, but many are pleasantly surprised when they do. The problem is that people don't want to take the proper steps to achieve what they want. Procrastination often gets in the way; people say they don't have the time, but it's really because they don't want to try.

That's why time is your equalizer. Whether you take the long or the short way, time matters in the end; it is the one thing that we all get. Time is the element that we can't take back. In today’s episode, 10 Time Management Tips to Help You Reach Your Goals, we dive into actionable steps you can implement immediately.

We will take a look at:

  1. Knowing your Goals - Setting goals should not be haphazard; you should only set goals within your control and realistically achievable.

  2. Understanding How You Spend Your Time - A month-long assessment is a great way to get an idea of your current habits. You'll be shocked at how much time you waste on tasks that you could easily avoid if you do this.

  3. Prioritizing Your Tasks - Do the most important and daunting tasks first.

  4. Planning Ahead - Set your daily schedule by deciding what you need to accomplish that day. Often doing this the evening before will ensure your day is set up for success.

  5. Time Blocking - To boost productivity is time-blocking using the Pomodoro Method.

  6. Protecting Your Time - You are the boss of your work. Sometimes it's not only okay to say no; it's required. You don't have to agree to everything someone asks of you.

  7. Walking Away - One of the best pieces of advice I ever received is this: Don't get attached to anything that is not moving forward. In other words, abandon or re-associate with people who are bogged down with the problems of yesterday.

  8. Declutter and Organize Your Space - Keeping things unorganized will cause your mind to wander off into the "doldrums" and prevent you from becoming mentally overloaded with the tasks at hand.

  9. Eliminate Mental Distractions - Distractions are tricky. In general, bad habits, natural inclinations to find distractions, and restless minds are all time-wasters.

  10. Work-Life Balance - You must prioritize yourself, your own needs and desires, along your overall goals.

#72 - 6 Discovery Call Strategies to Help You Land More Clients11 Nov 202100:20:05

The rise in discovery calls seems to happen in waves. Small businesses, like ours, see a surge of discovery calls right around New Year's, at the beginning of spring, and just before the end of summer. By understanding the pattern behind the trend, you can be proactive about it to ensure that your company is ready to go for the busy times.

Of course, the goal of any discovery call is to close the deal and enter into the onboarding process for your clients. The "Yes" is great, but what comes after the purchase is even more critical. Businesses should create an easy customer onboarding process to ensure that sales are converted into lifelong customers. The key to a successful onboarding process starts with good sales messaging that showcases the value and then continues through nurturing to customer loyalty.

I quickly realized during my own sessions that I hadn't executed a system to make an excellent first impression with potential clients. I felt unprepared, and the stress was killing me. In fact, I have learned a lot over the past 20 years in business of what not to do. I want to share a little bit of what I have learned with you today in today's episode 6 Discovery Call Strategies to Help You Land More Clients.

The scope of a business audit varies depending on what you're looking for, from a social media audit to a more detailed operational audit. By implementing these strategies early, you'll ensure that your business is ready to weather the storm and continue to grow in unexpected ways in 2022.

Today I want to talk about marketing tune-ups. You can't just set up a business and hope for the best. For companies to prosper, they require lots of care and attention and regular marketing audits. We are going to take a look at 6 key areas:

  1. SEO Audit - Organic traffic is more critical today than ever. Routine maintenance on your website SEO will keep you in Google's good graces.
  2. Auditing Social Media - A SMM audit will help you, Identify Gaps, Dive into audience insights, Revisit your brand, Revisit goals, Track performance, and Discover new opportunities.
  3. Email Marketing Review - As email marketing becomes more competitive and harder to track, maintaining good practices and having benchmarks will be key to remaining successful.
  4. Overall Strategy Audit - Are your marketing efforts gleaning the results you desire? If not, now is the time to revamp your marketing plans.
  5. Website Audit - Websites experience wear and tear, and pages break, slow down, or are just no longer relevant. Google scores you on a healthy website - which will keep your domain authority and ranking higher.
  6. Competitor Analysis - To be successful, you should know your market, audience, and competition inside and out

While your current business may be working like a well-oiled machine, the future of marketing is uncertain. That's why it is so important to stay up to date on industry best practices and make sure your business is in tip-top shape for 2022. Learn how in today's episode  2022 Marketing Audit: 6 Things to do NOW to be ready for the future.

#70 - How the iOS15 Update will Impact Email Marketing 26 Oct 202100:16:31

Apple has done it again with their privacy updates and the iOS15 update; this now affects email tracking and how email marketers communicate with audiences. So, as an email marketer or interested SME business leader, what do you need to know?

Think about it, today our phones have more information on them than what most of us keep lying around the house. That's the cold hard truth, and why many of us are choosing to ride the privacy wave.

We are always looking for new ways to deliver the content that customers demand and marketers' jobs depend on. This includes privacy measures and personalization of targeting information in order to satisfy those who purchase products or services from you, which we completely understand; but at what cost?

One thing we have learned from algorithms and Facebook is that marketing changes daily. Just as we all have been pivoting in our marketing plans since iOS12 - the same applies here.

Find out what's in store and how you can prepare your business for changes in email marketing on today's episode with The Key iOS15 Update and Who's Going to Lose.

#68 - What is List Fatigue? 5 Ways to Overcome It!05 Oct 202100:12:22

Do you find yourself scrolling past articles with titles like "7 Ways to Increase Your Email Subscribers by 20%" or "How to Gain More Followers on Social Media" because they all say the same thing? You're not alone. It's called list fatigue and it'll ruin most of your marketing efforts if left unchecked.

List fatigue happens when people are over-exposed to lists that don't provide any new information or are not keeping a pulse on what the reader actually wants to be consuming. Look, I know you're busy. You've got a million things on your plate, not to mention the fact that you're trying to grow your business and make more money. So, taking the time to pump out relevant, fresh new content can seem like just too much. I get it.

To help you understand list fatigue, prevent and overcome this, check out What is List Fatigue and How to Overcome It on my blog.

#67 - How Automating Client Onboarding Makes Life Easier for Everyone!28 Sep 202100:17:07

When growing your business, probably the most vital component, second to, say, your product, is your clients. Where would you be without them to market and sell to?

If you're going to develop a regular relationship with these lovely people, you're going to have to onboard them! But does that mean personally interacting with each and every one of them? If you want the best results for your brand, it sure does! Do you need to collect every piece of information from them by hand? Ideally, no, thank you!

To focus as much of your energy on the client, I recommend automating most of the process. It gets all the small details taken care of so you can get to work for your client immediately! To help you design your method, I want to share how I optimize my client onboarding.

The marketing game has come a long way since its humble beginnings. Commercial marketing as we know it came about later in the 19th century, evolving to what it is today – an inescapable part of growing your business.

Now, knowing that you need a marketing strategy and enacting a marketing strategy are two different matters. I want to show you how a straightforward baby's first digital marketing strategy will look and what to include in it. That way, you won't be intimidated by implementing one, whether entirely on your own or with a bit of help. Let me show you how to avoid some of the start-up paralysis by laying out the pillars used to build a solid digital marketing strategy platform.

#64 - 5 Easy Ways to Use Video Content to Get Eyes on Your Business!31 Aug 202100:21:58

Everywhere you look on the internet, you find information flung at you from every direction and medium. We are awash in stimuli for most of our day on our mobile devices, laptops, and computer monitors. When you consider marketing your business amidst this deluge of content, it can seem pretty overwhelming!

Thankfully, you can use a digital marketing tool that provides some evergreen content options and is easy to digest: videos. I'm talking about using video in conjunction with social media, email marketing funnels, and on your website to catch the eyes of the casual swiper and make them stick around to see what you're about. It's sometimes too easy to lose an audience to a wall of text, but a video can sink its hooks into people and immensely boost click-through rate (CTR).

So, let me share some ways you can harness video marketing to make affordable, valuable content that's great for your ROI and is generally pretty fun to create!

#63 - 8 Ways to Create Passive Income Alongside Your Business!24 Aug 202100:22:10

As a business owner, you know you gotta' hustle to keep it all going. There's so much on your plate, from marketing to hiring staff to planning and refining your strategy! Figuring out the work/life balance can be a struggle when you feel stressed about making ends meet. So, what if you looked into other revenue streams? Like, one's that you don't have to work at consistently? I'm talking passive income for your business.

These are the side-hustles that earn you money with less work than your steady 9-5. They still require work, but most of that is done upfront in establishing the income stream. After that, it's periodic check-ins to update and maintain. How much you earn entirely depends on the amount of effort and money you are willing to invest at the onset. But, once you establish a passive income source, you earn greater financial and personal freedom.

I want to share some great passive income alternatives with you since small business owners are often so busy hustling to build a business from the ground up. It can be hard to consider other avenues of income generation, so let me show you what's out there to help you make a little, or a lot, of extra cash.

#62 - 5 Facebook Ad Strategies to Grow Your Business17 Aug 202100:19:28

Gosh. Sometimes it's baffling to think that Facebook was ever a social networking site for Harvard students when you look at the beast it has become now. As of 2021, it boasts 2.85 billion monthly users.

2.85 billion is a staggering number of people when you stop to think about it. And as a small business, it's hard not to get excited by the prospect of all those people seeing your advertisement on the world's most popular social networking platform. If I could sell 1 item for $1 to all of them, that's $2.85 billion at month's end; I'd be happy to retire with Jayson to a beach house on the Mediterranean. Unfortunately, it's not that easy.

That said, I'll happily share my insight on how small business owners like you can optimize Facebook advertising to help grow your business. That means getting specific about what your advertising goals are, knowing the elements that make up your ad, and even harnessing their analytics to adjust your plan, along with other great tips!

#61 - Marketing 101: Don't Cast a Wide Net, You'll Catch Nobody! Free Workbook!10 Aug 202100:16:40

I have a theory that only a few digital marketers out there actually know anything about fishing.

When you read something online about marketing, people often bring up fishing. There is a parallel between catching a big fish and landing a new customer. It's an easy metaphor. That is why a lot of the advice you hear about how to fish for new clients is kind of terrible. They might know marketing, but they don't know the first thing about fishing!

This latest episode is pretty fishy, but in a fun, pun way! I'm also going to get back to the basics of digital marketing to help you build an actionable, affordable digital marketing plan that can yield results. From identifying your ideal customer avatar to suggested marketing tools, you can start to form a marketing strategy that is going to convert new clients quickly!
