On this week's episode, Tommy had to step away to tend to some other business so Doug sits down with Gene to have his first in-depth discussion about Vice's Dark Side of the Ring episode on his brother Eddie that aired back in May, and they also tell the backstory on how the book on Eddie came together from the initial conception they worked on separately twenty years ago to getting together lastsummer and starting this podcast that led to them working together on completing the book about Eddie that was published in April of this year. The title of this week's show sounds like something you wouldn't let your children attend but we promise it's safe as the guys celebrate the fourth ofJuly by discussing some great wrestling cards of the past that happen to take place on the 4th of July.  Some fun stories and memories always come out of studying these old shows and this week is no exception. On this week's episode, Doug & Tommy discuss the theory that Jerry Jarrett built his wrestling business around, "Personal Issues Draw Money". They talk about some of the personal issues over the years that helped them draw money and about how differently things were handled back then amongst "the boys". They also talk about the important role personable announcers like Lance Russell and Dave Brown played in getting these personal issues across on television. This week Doug Gilbert is in Alaska, but never fear "Wildfire" Tommy Rich is here with host Gene Jackson and he's going to tell us all about the famous war that he and Austin Idol waged against Jerry 'the King' Lawler in Memphis in 1987!  They go in depth on all the matches that kicked off the feud starting in December 1986 until the "blowoff" in June 1987.  It's all here as Tommy breaks down how the feud began, AWA World Champion Nick Bockwinkel's role, Sid Eudy's first ever wrestling match that happened in a main event match during this feud, the infamous "posting" of both Lawler and later Tommy, the famous Steel Cage Hair vs. Hair Match, and of course the big scaffold match that took place at the conclusion.  Some of these matches and the people involved haven't been discussed in any of Tommy's past interviews.  Make sure you check this episode out and share with your friends!
