Creative CEO is a podcast for artists and creative people who desire to become their own boss and make money from their creativity. Hosted by me, Georgie Turner, an art teacher turned full time artist. As I build my own art business from the ground up, I am taking you on the journey with me, offering real world advice on what's working as an artist on social media, how to sell art online, marketing your art work and building sustainable creative income streams. I'm doing this alongside juggling babies, country living, a family home and horses, so if you want realistic advice from a female founder who is trying to 'do it all', you've come to the right place! Expect brutal honestly, a bit of oversharing, interesting conversations with guests and a safe space for you to feel like you're not alone.

'Sell me this pen' scene in Wolf of Wall Street - I definitely got my scenes mixed up and the scene in which the pen is sold with the right strategy involves too many swearwords to share for a non explicit podcast! But it is worth putting 'sell me this pen' into YouTube and checking out that scene in the diner.

Why Consistency Matters in an Art Business

Season 1 · Episode 10

mercredi 15 janvier 2025Duration 13:15

In this episode of Creative CEO, I discuss the importance of consistency for growing a creative business. Reflecting on my own struggles with consistency in the last quarter of 2024, I've decided to make it my buzzword for 2025. I delve into the science behind why consistency is beneficial, such as the exposure effect, and share how it can help build trust, reliability, and a strong brand. I'll also talk about how consistency in practice can enhance skills and how it plays a crucial role in establishing your brand. I emphasise the significance of small, consistent actions leading to long-term growth and encourage breaking down big goals into manageable steps.

Managing Finances in Your Art Business

Season 1 · Episode 7

mardi 19 novembre 2024Duration 18:28

Do you hate the maths side of your business? I did too, but keeping on top of your finances is really important especially when you've quit your part time job and are doing your business full time. In this episode I touch on a bit of money mindset, having a sexy cash flow forecast and I finish off with a bit of advice about submitting your UK cash basis tax return. I want you to feel empowered that you can do your accounts independently like I (sort of) can now, but if you need any professional advice then please seek the advice of a qualified accountant.

Happy listening!

Planning for the Unexpected in Your Art Business

Season 1 · Episode 5

lundi 28 octobre 2024Duration 12:16

Last week I had a real dose of reality when my daughter became unwell and as a result found myself scrabbling for ways to ensure my business kept running whilst I was solo parenting a poorly child. In this shorter episode I discuss 5 systems I have now put in place for when the unexpected happens if you're running a business on your own.

Don't forget to be kind to yourself: if things happen in your personal life and you have to just pause your business completely, then you do what is best for you. I hope this episodes helps anyone running a business alongside parenthood and gives you a chance to put some automations in place before something goes unplanned.
