Tim Soulo has been CMO at Ahrefs for 11 years. He has never defended his marketing budget in front of his CEO. He doesn't do attribution. His main decision framework comes down to one question: how likely is someone to become a customer after consuming this piece of content?
In this episode, Tim and Jordan unpack the marketing philosophy behind one of the most respected brands in SEO: the business potential framework, how Ahrefs thinks about events and sponsorships without tracking ROI, the shift from SEO to GEO, and how a pricing mistake on their website turned into a misinformation problem at web scale.
They also get into what Tim calls "firing all cannons", how Ahrefs is building AI products to monitor and correct its narrative in real time, and why in a world where AI generates content at infinite scale, the only thing that matters when hiring is passion for the craft.
→ The business potential framework: 0 to 3, how Ahrefs decides what to create
→ Why Tim skips attribution entirely and how he still makes spending decisions
→ Events without ROI tracking: how Ahrefs went from one sponsored conference to 20
→ Ahrefs Evolve: how to make a corporate event pay for itself
→ SEO to GEO
→ How one pricing mistake can corrupt what AI says about you for months

George Bonaci doesn't talk about failure culture. He built one. At Ramp, the employee engagement question he watches most closely isn't about happiness or belonging. It's: do you feel safe taking risks?
In this extract, he breaks down what it actually means to run growth like a science: why failing nine times in a row is a good sign, how he evaluates experiments with an expanded version of the ICE framework, and why when something works, the only right move is to go 10x immediately.
He also walks through how Ramp became one of the largest advertisers on a side project they found on Twitter the night before, no website, no terms and conditions, just a credit card and ads running inside Claude Code.
→ Hiring people who want to fail: why it's the hardest management commitment to actually keep
→ ICE plus the variable most teams skip: time to results
→ Going 10x immediately beats doubling cautiously, and here is the math
→ Channels that didn't exist last week: how Ramp finds and saturates them fast
→ What gut feeling is actually worth on a scientific growth team
On aborde également :
Most B2B marketers can't define what makes their brand magnetic. Trevor can and he calls it Aura.
In this extract, Trevor breaks down why attention has become the most important resource in B2B marketing, what Aura actually is, and how Profound measures something that is more felt than tracked. He covers the three proxy metrics that matter, why event waitlists are one of the most honest signals of brand health, and why employer brand is the most underrated indicator of Aura in the market.
He also makes the case for treating your marketing team like a production house, launching every product update like it's the most important thing in the world, and looking at B2C brands like Liquid Death and Taco Bell to understand what great B2B marketing should feel like.

How Ramp Runs Growth Like a Science Lab (George Bonaci - VP Growth @Ramp)
George Bonaci leads growth at Ramp, one of the fastest-growing fintech companies in the US. He comes from a background in biochemistry and synthetic biology research, which turns out to be exactly the right training for running growth at a company that treats every channel as an experiment.
In this episode, George go deep on what it actually means to run growth like a scientist: how Ramp structures its experiments, why you should saturate a working channel as fast as possible rather than scaling it slowly, and how the growth team is organized under the CTO rather than a CMO.
They also cover the three buckets George uses to think about marketing in the AI era, why Ramp pivoted its entire SEO team to AEO, and the experiment that tested offering incentives directly to LLMs and found that it works.
He closes with a line that stayed with him: he's not sure his role exists in five years. His boss didn't disagree.
→ Why growth at Ramp reports to the CTO, not a CMO
→ How to hire for spiky talent and build a team that is comfortable failing
→ The ICE framework plus one missing variable most teams overlook
→ Marketing in three buckets: immune to AI, disrupted by AI, only possible with AI
→ High quality outbound is not dead. Low quality outbound is.
→ What Ramp learned from offering incentives directly to LLMs
Trevor Pyle is Head of Marketing at Profound, the platform helping brands understand and optimize how they show up in AI search engines like ChatGPT and Claude.
In this episode, Trevor makes the case that the face of marketing is changing faster than most teams realize. Answer engines are becoming the primary way people discover products and make decisions. SEO is not dead but the rules have fundamentally shifted. And the marketers who will win are those who can operate like engineers, think like media companies, and build aura in a world where AI controls discovery.
We also get into how Profound thinks about brand building, events as a growth channel, attribution in a post-performance era, and why the marketing engineer is the most important hire you're not making yet.
What we explore in this episode: → How to build brand aura and why it matters for AI discovery → Why content under 13 weeks old is what LLMs actually pull from → How Profound uses events as a core demand generation channel → The rise of the marketing engineer and what this role actually does → How to think about attribution when performance channels no longer tell the full story
