Metrospective Part 1
Season 2 · Episode 1
lundi 13 octobre 2025 • Duration 57:27
We're back! After three years plus, the Cine Lit team have reconvened to resurrect the podcast for a very special season of recordings. This new season entltled Metrospective explores the film programming history of Derby's Metro Cinema (1981 - 2008) to coincide with a new exhibition dedicated to the cinema in QUAD's Montage Gallery.
Head of Film Adam Marsh is joined by Film Historian and We Belong Dead magazine editor (and former Metro Cinema customer) Darrell Buxton to explore the history of the cinema, the films that were being programmed in 1980, 1990s, and 2000's arthouse cinemas and how these programmes reflect on modern programming.
Join us for this bumper first episode as we take a deep dive in the state of cinema in the UK in the late 1970s, early 1980s, the star power of actors such as Jack Nicholson, Marilyn Monroe, James Cagney and Liv Ullman, Darrell's memories of Hell's Angels, Surrealist Cinema and the power of a great late show!
From Metro to QUAD: A Derby Story exhibition runs in QUAD's Montage Gallery from 27th September 2025 - 11th January 2026.

Great Movie Endings
Episode 69
mardi 6 septembre 2022 • Duration 01:00:23
The End Is Nigh! Well, for Cine-Lit it is at least. For this final episode in an almost three-year run, including over 70 podcasts on a crazy range of subjects, we are bringing the curtain down on Cine-Lit. But we couldn't go out with a whimper when we could go out with a bang. Adam and Darrel sit down and talk about Great Movie Endings. And of course, with a great movie ending, there is always the possibility of a great movie resurrection...

Hammer Horror - Unmade Hammer Part 2
Episode 59
mardi 10 mai 2022 • Duration 51:23
Cine-Lit continues its adventures in "What If" country as we explore the unmade Hammer projects that were announced, mooted and, in some cases, scripted films, but that languish in the might-have-been archives. In this instalment, we look at the various attempts to bring more vampires back to Hammer with proposed new Count Dracula adventures, an unconventional biopic of Bram Stoker, and attempts to bring to the screen one of the most famous vampires from the world of comics. Also, we talk about the pitch and poster to bring Scotland's most infamous aquatic monster Nessie to the big screen.

Hammer Horror - Unmade Hammer Part 1
Episode 58
mardi 26 avril 2022 • Duration 44:40
After covering the Count from Transylvania and Mary Shelley's monstrous creation, Cine-Lit once again cracks open the vault of horror from that most British of institutions, Hammer Films. This time we venture into parts unknown, into a multiverse of Hammer as we discuss a range of much-muted but never completed Hammer productions. In this instalment we discuss an unmade fourth Dick Barton, a non-Nigel Kneale Quatermass, a Richard Matheson scripted I Am Legend, a return to Denis Wheatley's world of the occult, Zeppelins Vs. Pterodactyls and a Hammer take on Cinema's biggest star, King Kong.
