Back to the league again and another defeat - this time expected as a young and much changed Gloucester side lost away to Saracens. However a plucky final 10 minutes took advantage of some sloppy Sarries play and secured a Try bonus point.

We chat through the game, whether the squad selection was the correct one is probably still to be decided, but we do have a discussion on the rights and wrongs of picking that many inexperienced players.

We also discuss the latest Red Roses win, a thrashing of Ireland at Twickenham - but ponder if the lack of any real opposition is going to harm the development of the women's game.

Ed and Russ travelled down to Brentford for the London Irish game and were witness to one of the worst first 40 minutes from Gloucester in a long time - amazingly through tenacity, belief and a little luck the Cherry and Whites secured a valuable 25-25 draw. Ed also spent a little time on the pitch at half time, mainly on the floor as he unfortunately failed to win two flights to the Cayman Islands! We discuss the game, Ed's awful display, Bath getting stuffed by Saracens and the recently announced England squad.

Well if any game summed up the joy and suffering of a Gloucester supporter it was the Sale game last weekend. A wonderful 76 minute performance and a near disastrous 4 minute one. We chat about the game, the performances and what happened in the closing stages. We also discuss the reasons for the low attendances in the first two home games of the season, are the club getting it right with their offers and deals?

Gloucester avoided the standard banana skin of Worcester away with a convincing victory. Gloucester's incredible run in knock out competitions continues with a Quarter Final win over Ospreys. It means a Semi Final against Benetton Treviso in early May. We chat through the game and how the club might need to prioritise the Cup at the expense of the remaining league games.

We also round-up the whole weekend of European fixtures, including Quins incredible win over Bordeaux. Ed gives his review of his experience at the Aviva and before we also remember two famous matches that were played at this time of year in 1996 and 1997 respectively.

Three of the Cherry Jam gang trekked down to Ealing to watch Gloucester's first pre-season game of 2021/22 season. 30 players were used and there were some encouraging performances and a chance to blow away some cobwebs but Ealing edged the Cherry and Whites in the end. We review the game, the venue and location ahead of an anticipated promotion for the West London club next season.

Apologies for the length of time between pods but a combination of busy lives, lack of rugby and technical issues meant we have struggled over the past few weeks.

Firstly we wanted to pay tribute to Jack Adams who sadly passed away on June 12th from cancer aged just 34. All our thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP Jack.

In our 50th pod, we discuss the new Gloucester training facility and artificial pitch plus round up all the rugby nonsense and rumours. We will be back later this week with a review of the semi finals and preview the Premiership final between Quins and Exeter. 

It was always going to be a tough ask away to the rampant Bristol Bears, but a 12th minute red card meant it became damage control. Bristol did their best to entertain us with some comical and innovative methods in cocking up tries but we ended up heavily beaten. The guys chat about the game and what if anything can be gleaned from it. We also discuss the London Irish game this Friday, the Women's Premiership Final also being held at Gloucester on Sunday, plus a little bit about the European finals and the Lions.

Gloucester Rugby defeated Leicester Tigers at Welford Road for the first time since 2007 after a battling display and a late Stephen Varney try, but the focus was very much on Zach Mercer who put in a performance that showed exactly why he should be in the England squad and why he is so important to the team.

We chat through the game, the performance and why once again the style of play and attacking intent is so important.
