S17 Ep209: 209: The Byte: Robert J. Hunt ~ The Miracle In Your Life Falling Apart (and Mothers!!)
Season 17 · Episode 209
dimanche 20 octobre 2024 • Duration 11:27
World, meet Robert Hunt, The Accountability Guy, the one human being who is attempting to get us all on track with our words, with our actions, with how we move through this world! And I for one do think that we need people like Robert, urging us to be our best selves, the kind of shiny people this world needs, full of confidence not only in ourselves, but in other people's capacities to do good (and be good!) To find out more about this wonderful human, click here for his website, and then his book, Nobody Cares, Until You Do! here! *AND PLEASE DO NOT MISS OUT, IN THE EASTER EGG AT THE END OF THE FULL LENGTH EPISODE ROBERT HAS A SPECIAL OFFER FOR YOU ALL!!*
Robert definitely got me to confide that I dropped the ball this last summer, but don't we all, some of the time? It is important to remember that life is HARD babes, and we all cannot be our best selves all of the time! So grace and forgiveness are so very important as well!
Please do consider giving a rating or a review for the podcast-each one helps this little work of mine go a little farther into the world! And don't forget the YouTube channel! There, you can meet my guests face to face and see what they are about!
Your weekly dose of beauty is this: how humans, despite what we are doing to the environment and the planet, can sometimes help those who need it! And this week it was six turtles blown off course (kinda like Planes, Trains and Automobiles, but with Waves, Currents and England, and the Royal Navy riding to the rescue! Check it out to make your heart happy!
S17 Ep163: The Interview: Elizabeth Corpion ~The Mystery At the Foot of the Bed
Season 17 · Episode 163
samedi 9 mars 2024 • Duration 37:55
And dreaming doesn't seem to be limited to the human experience. I know we've all seen dogs running in their sleep and cats whimpering while seemingly dreaming. So all this begs the question...if dreaming isn't exclusive to humans, just what purpose does it serve? And don't get me started on that video of the octopus dreaming...it's astonishing and can be watched here! I am a huge fan of octopi and suspect that like much of the animal and plant kingdom, they too are wondering when humans are going to get their crap together and stop polluting the oceans. It seems that all living beings are dreaming...perhaps of better days to come?
Elizabeth Corpion tells a story this week that is by turns haunting and provocative. And I don't want to ruin it for you but it should make you wonder...about what exactly is happening when we descend into sleep every single night. Just this morning I dreamed about describing someone as being "like the color caramel" in a dream...and I woke up and thought, "hmmm, caramel COULD be a color..." and it could, couldn't it?
Michel de Montaigne said "Those who have compared our life to a dream were right... we were sleeping wake, and waking sleep." And how magical is that? If every moment is a dream, then do we really want to wake up? I know I really don't.
Please remember to rate and review...and share the pod. Grateful to all of you who listen...and see you so very soon for the very next episode!

S17 Ep162: The Interview: Susan Gold-The Magic of Making Mulch (and playing in the mud!)
Season 17 · Episode 162
dimanche 3 mars 2024 • Duration 43:44
I've got a beautiful episode this week with my guest Susan Gold, who left a life of celebrity and glitz to excavate something precious later in life-herself! I'm always urging you all to take the steps necessary to heal, to reconcile, to tend to that heart of yours and give it all the tools it needs to resonate with the beauty in this world-and that's what this episode is about! But beware, it is a heavy one with discussions of child abuse and generational trauma. So for those of you who are sensitive to this subject, please take care.
Susan is a prime example of a human who refused to be satisfied with a life that seemed shallow-celebrities, brands and convincing people to sign on the dotted line. But one day she realized that it was up to her to craft and alchemize a life worth living, one filled with forgiveness, magic and family. She talks so beautifully about it in this episode and it's a good one for reminding ourselves that we have the capacity to change our lives, heal our wounds, as well.
When I was a kid I loved playing in the mud. It was a good excuse to get dirty, but I just loved feeling the squish of that mud between my fingers! It was messy yes, but oh so worth it! And that's what we're talking about this week, except instead of actual mud we're talking about my life, your life, our lives, and squishing them up, releasing our trauma and creating something gold from what emerges.
Cheers to all of us and the journeys that we are on!

I have to tell you that Susan had me at her use of the world "FLUFF" as a curse word. Brilliant! I'm going to try to incorporate it into my life, and maybe you should too!

S17 Ep161: The Interview-Tracy Fahey~ The Magic of Irish Banshees and Footsteps on Ceilings
Season 17 · Episode 161
lundi 26 février 2024 • Duration 01:10:41
And BEWARE dear listeners-in this episode you will hear:
how Tracy's ancestry practically screams for her to be an uncanny author...
how living on/near a graveyard is maybe not the best idea...
how ancient ways and ancient gods still roam the lands of Eire...
how footsteps on ceilings and rooftops can become humdrum...
how the Era of the Hag is upon us...that great Goddess of Land and Water and pretty much everything? She's here to stir things up and bitch slap us for all the ways we are destroying this world and eachother.
Whew.
We sure did talk a lot about so many ideas near and dear to my heart...but really, as long as I know there are no monsters under my bed, or demonic dolls in my closet? I'm good.
To check Tracy out and read one of her delicious tales click here.
To say that I couldn't stop thinking about the short story I found on her website would be an understatement and to whoever bought the option for it? BRAVO I SAY!! BRAVO! You clearly have good taste! (or demented taste, but who's judging? Certainly not me!)
Thanks for listening you all and I'll see you next week for another sweet or terrifying or inspirational or magical episode! Cause at this podcast? We're full service! And with that I'll see you around!
S16 Ep160: The Interview: Gary Simonds ~ The Miracle of Conversations in Hospital Waiting Rooms
Season 16 · Episode 160
mercredi 21 février 2024 • Duration 40:02
This mid-week miracle is brought to you courtesy of neurosurgeon Gary Simonds! As someone who worked in the field of trauma, in the emergency rooms on the brains and spines of those who had been in catastrophic car crashes or suffered gun violence, Gary has much to share on what is most important in those spaces. This episode he talks about the families in the waiting rooms and how sacred each conversation with them is. Despite having the worst day of their lives and whether Gary delivered good news or bad, the families were there each and every time, awaiting news of their loved one.
Gary is an author, a speaker and did I mention a brain surgeon? This conversation ranges-and we talk ancestors, being present to those suffering, how Gary found his calling and how he managed the stress of operating on people who were at death's door. He talks about burnout and how nurses are the ones who are the true powerhouses in our hospitals...and how hospitals don't give them the respect they deserve. We cover much in this episode and I hope you enjoy it!
