#429 - How Boring Businesses Can Make You "Stealthy Wealthy"25 May 202500:09:19

In this episode, Andy break's down the Wall Street Journal's article on the "Stealthy Wealthy" a growing class of business owners quietly building serious wealth through unsexy, traditional industries. These aren't influencers or venture-backed CEOs. They're founders of mid-size regional businesses pulling in millions through operational excellence and boring-but-needed services.

  • Why boring businesses are outperforming flashy startups
  • Real-world examples: carpet, car mats, and beer trucks
  • How AI and smart ops are quietly scaling boring businesses

#428 - Amazon's Moat Is Cracking + This Week at Weavos24 May 202500:12:14

This week, a logistics startup backed by a recent $200 million funding round made a bold move to challenge Amazon's dominance—and Walmart quietly beat Amazon at its own game: profitable, fast e-commerce delivery.

In this episode, I break down what Stord's acquisition of UPS's Ware2Go actually means for brand owners, why Walmart's store-powered fulfillment strategy is a serious threat, and how these shifts could impact your dependence on FBA.

Then, I take you behind the scenes at Weavos. I'll share clips from my strategy call with Owais, how exageration on social media is the key, and how we're optimizing our clients brands.

#427 - The Amazon Profit Killer Owners Overlook. And It's Not PPC.23 May 202500:13:49

Most Amazon brand owners blame ads for shrinking profits—but the real killer might be hiding in your inventory.

In this episode, I break down the silent profit leaks that sneak past your ad dashboard but impact your P&L: slow sell-through, poor inventory utilization, over-ordering, and mounting FBA storage fees. I'll give you a practical checklist to audit your inventory strategy, including how to catch flat TACoS with falling profit, calculate SKU-level break-even sell-through rates, and stop reordering out of fear.

Plus, I kick things off with:

  • Two Amazon Seller Central News updates you may have missed this week.
  • A quick look inside some creative projects I'm working on for agency clients.

If you're ready to plug holes in your Amazon Inventory Boat, this one's for you. ⛵️

#426 - Amazon Isn't the End Goal. It's the Launchpad.22 May 202500:07:32

Too many brand owners treat Amazon like the finish line. But if you want to build a real business, Amazon should be the launchpad—not the whole rocket.

In this episode, I share why the smartest brands use Amazon as a cash flow engine to fund long-term growth: content creation, product development, email list building, and true customer ownership. I break down the mindset shift from "Amazon seller" to "brand builder"—and what that looks like in 2025.

#425 - The Fastest and Cheapest Way to Rank Your Product on Amazon21 May 202500:08:58

Want to rank faster and pay less for traffic? Stop thinking inside the Amazon box. In this episode, I break down why off-Amazon traffic—like Google Ads, TikTok influencers, and external link strategies—can help you rank higher and lower your ACoS. Amazon's A10 algorithm actually favors external traffic that converts, and with tools like Amazon Attribution and the Brand Referral Bonus, you can now track it all and get paid to send traffic in.

We'll cover:

  • How Amazon's A10 algorithm rewards offsite traffic in 2025
  • What the Brand Referral Bonus is and how to use it
  • Why brands using external traffic often see 20-30% lower blended ACOS
  • Top 4 channels for offsite traffic
  • How to track results with Amazon Attribution
  • 3 Common mistakes to avoid

This is the strategy smart brands are using to drive long-term ranking without blowing up their PPC budgets.

#424 - The Product / Marketing Matrix20 May 202500:11:52

In this Episode, Owais and I break down a framework that maps product innovation vs. marketing effort and potential. This Product / Marketing Matrix helps explain why some brand and products dominate on social media and Amazon, while others require brute-force PPC just to stay afloat.

In this episode, I cover:

  • The 4 types of products in the matrix
  • Why low-differentiation commodities die on social
  • What Amazon-native brands can learn from high-virality DTC launches
  • A few real-world case studies of "Brand Goldmine" quadrant products
  • Why your next product needs more than just demand on Amazon

If you're building a brand in 2025, this is the kind of strategic lens that separates winners from the white-label crowd.

#423 - Why "Easing Back In" is Killing Your Consistency19 May 202500:05:33

You've probably heard the advice: "Ease back into it." But when it comes to content, business, fitness—anything that demands discipline—easing back in is often the reason you never get momentum again.

In this episode of Built By Business, I explain why jumping straight into the fire is the fastest way to rebuild consistency. Whether you've fallen off your podcast routine, stopped posting, or feel burnt out in your business, this is the wake-up call you didn't know you needed.

P.S. We just hit 10 daily episodes in a row. 😎🔥

#422 - Brands are Built With People Not Products18 May 202500:07:55

Most sellers obsess over product features, but the best brands in the world aren't built on what they sell—they're built on who they connect with.

In this episode of Built By Business, I break down why your product isn't your brand—and how to leverage people, partnerships, and storytelling to create something that lasts. From Gymshark's influencer strategy to Nike's use of iconic athletes, the pattern is clear: brands grow when people lead the narrative.

I also share tactical strategies you can implement right now—whether you're a solo founder or running a full team—to build a stronger presence, drive branded searches, and win in a crowded marketplace.

#421 - Real Conversations, Real Strategy: A Look Inside Weavos This Week17 May 202500:14:20

Amazon just rolled out a new ASIN Performance Alert feature—and we're already using it across multiple client accounts to stay ahead of drops in sales, traffic, and Buy Box ownership.

In this episode of Built By Business, I break down exactly how to set up these alerts inside Seller Central, why they matter, and how to avoid drowning in unnecessary notifications.

Then I take you behind the scenes into real strategy conversations from this past week at Weavos—sharing what we're working on internally with our team and directly with brand owners.

#420 - I Couldn't Build My Own Amazon AI Software… So I Partnered With One Instead16 May 202500:13:35

I spent six months trying to build my own Amazon AI tool… only to realize the real shortcut was buying one. In this episode I share how my DIY ambitions hit a wall—meeting after meeting, development quotes piling up, and the crushing cost of training models—until I discovered Jarvio.io and realized sometimes you build it, and sometimes you buy it.

I walk you through the moment I saw Scott Needham's LinkedIn post, booked a demo with co-founders Connor Mulholland and Jake Ryan, and immediately locked in a partnership.

Discover what this partnership means for Weavos clients: AI-driven account task management, instant listing fixes, automated reporting, and Slack integrations that deliver real-time updates on sales, inventory, and optimization suggestions. This is just the opening act—by 2028 AI will contribute over $1 trillion to a $7 trillion IT market, and we're ready to help you lead the charge.

#518 - From Burnout to Breakthrough: Building Your Dream Team Abroad with Oceans22 Oct 202500:11:14

Most e-commerce founders don't fail because of bad products or weak ads - they fail because they try to do everything themselves. In this episode of Built by Business with Andy Isom, I've invited Ian Myers, the CEO and Co-Founder at Oceans, who specialize in hiring and managing overseas employees from Sri Lanka.

You'll hear why typical "VA hiring" fails, how Oceans helps founders build real, reliable overseas teams, and what happens when you finally delegate the right roles. We'll cover the first position you should hire, a real-world transformation story, and the practical steps to stop being the bottleneck in your business.

If you're running an Amazon or e-commerce brand and feel stuck in the weeds, this episode will show you how to reclaim your time and scale smarter.

#419 - Major Seller Fulfilled Prime Changes: What You Need to Know Before June 2915 May 202500:12:53

Amazon just dropped a major update to Seller Fulfilled Prime—and it's going to impact every seller using a 3PL or fulfilling Prime orders from their own warehouse. Starting June 29, 2025, new rules are going into effect that will tighten trial requirements, enforce order minimums, and introduce new performance protections and penalties.

In this episode, I break down exactly what's changing and how to stay eligible without risking your Prime badge. I also share behind-the-scenes updates from my own business, including:

  • A liquidation project I'm running for a wholesale client

  • Exciting progress with all five of my Black Panther done-for-you clients now that tariffs have dropped

  • And how one of my Weavos clients has already hit $853 in sales halfway through May—outpacing all of April for this revival project

Plus, I explain how Amazon's new OTDR protection works using Shipping Settings Automation and Buy Shipping—and why that combo might be your best defense against Prime suspension.

#418 - Why Online Courses are Completely Dead Now14 May 202500:10:06

I've sold thousands of online courses—and I'm telling you right now: the traditional course model is dying.

With ChatGPT and other AI tools, people can now get 90% of what most courses teach for free, instantly. The information gap that used to justify $997 price tags? It's gone.

In this episode, I break down:

  • What ChatGPT has replaced in the education space

  • Why I'm shifting away from selling static courses and into real-time coaching

#417 - Tariffs Just Dropped: Here's What It Means for Your Amazon Brand13 May 202500:08:51

The U.S. just slashed Chinese tariffs from 145% to 30%. China just dropped U.S. tariffs from 125% to 10%.

If you're selling physical products—especially through Amazon or DTC—this is your moment to move fast. Because while everyone else is still refreshing freight quotes, smart brands are locking in container space before the rate hikes begin.

In this episode, I break down:

  • What the new tariff changes acutally mean for sellers
  • How this will impact shipping rates and inventory flow
  • A clip from our coaching Q&A call with Burak Yolga from Forceget logistics
  • A quick snippet from a private consulting call with Natasha

#416 - If You Want Bigger Results, Start Acting Like a Bigger Brand12 May 202500:10:53

You say you want 7-figure results. But are you actually running your business like a 7-figure brand?

In this Monday episode, we're breaking down what high-level operators really do — and how you can start acting like one, even if you're still scaling.

I'll walk you through the exact habits, systems, and creative upgrades you should focus on this week to level up your brand and stop thinking like a side hustle.

Plus, I share:

  • An update on the U.S.–China tariff talks from this weekend's summit in Switzerland
  • The 4-part "Big Brand Energy" checklist to start your week strong

#415 - Who Really Wins From Chinese Tariffs?11 May 202500:16:35

Tariff talks between the U.S. and China have officially started in Switzerland, and they're expected to continue through Sunday. But before you celebrate the potential for an 80% import tax on Chinese goods, here's the uncomfortable truth:

These tariffs may actually help Chinese sellers more than they hurt them.

In this episode, I break down how Chinese factories are still able to undercut U.S. brands—thanks to lower cost of goods, undervaluing shipments, and manipulating HS codes. I reference a recent Marketplace Pulse article that reveals how direct-from-China Amazon sellers are still thriving despite rising tariffs.

https://www.marketplacepulse.com/articles/paradoxical-tariffs-will-benefit-chinese-sellers

I also share a live case study with one of my agency clients, who's dealing with excess inventory, aged stock fees, and Amazon's inventory utilization rate surcharges. If you're ignoring your FBA inventory metrics, you're probably paying way more than you realize.

#414 - The Part No One Wants To Talk About10 May 202500:14:42

Nobody talks about what happens after you hit your first $10K month on Amazon. The excitement fades. The adrenaline wears off. And suddenly, the business you were fired up about starts to feel... repetitive.

But here's the truth: this is the part that actually builds a brand.

In this episode, I'm breaking down what happens after the initial wins—and why learning to master the boring stuff is exactly what separates sellers who scale from those who stall.

Plus, I cover this week's Amazon updates:

FBA restock delays are affecting West Coast fulfillment centers—some shipments are taking over a week to be received.

Trump has proposed lowering Chinese import tariffs from 145% to 80%, which could have ripple effects for your sourcing strategy.

#412 - Past sales are a poor predictor of future sales06 Mar 202500:19:27

In this episode, I share a critical lesson we learned the hard way—why relying solely on past sales data to forecast inventory for seasonal products can be a big mistake.

For the first three years of our brand, we experienced consistent growth, fueled by marketing, new SKUs, and the surge in demand during COVID. But what we didn't account for was the actual market demand beyond our own sales numbers.

I break down the risks of over-relying on historical data, how we adjusted our approach, and what you can do to avoid the same mistake.

#410 - How to Justify a Premium Pricing Strategy on Amazon (Beyond Just Branding)06 Feb 202500:33:41

Most Amazon sellers think branding alone lets them charge premium prices, but that's not the full picture. In reality, two key factors determine if you can charge more: Supply & Demand dynamics and Obvious Perceived Value.

If you don't get these right, no amount of fancy branding will justify a higher price. Today, I'm breaking down the real strategy behind pricing premium on Amazon and how you can make customers choose your product over cheaper alternatives.

#402 - Great Execution Turns Ordinary Ideas into Extraordinary Results on Amazon10 Jan 202500:06:21

From my "8-Episode Remake for 2025" from my original podcast mini series I launched back in 2020 that turned Selling on Amazon with Andy Isom into one of the top Amazon podcasts in the world.

In this episode, I break down one of the biggest lessons I've learned in my Amazon FBA journey: Execution beats ideas—every time.

When I first started, I thought success came from finding a groundbreaking product idea. But I quickly realized that even an average product can outperform a "genius" one if you execute better than everyone else.

I'll share my early mistakes, the mindset shift that changed everything for me, and a step-by-step approach to choosing and launching products in 2025.

You'll learn why waiting for the perfect idea is holding you back, how to identify opportunities in "ordinary" products, and what great execution actually looks like on Amazon today.

Key Topics Covered:

  • Why execution matters more than the product idea

From my "8-Episode Remake for 2025" from my original podcast mini series I launched back in 2020 that turned Selling on Amazon with Andy Isom into one of the top Amazon podcasts in the world.

In this kickoff episode of my updated Amazon FBA mini-series, I break down why now is still one of the best times to start selling on Amazon—even in 2025.

Discover the opportunities behind Amazon FBA, why it's still one of the most powerful side hustles, but what it takes to succeed in 2025.

I share key insights on how the Amazon marketplace has evolved, what's changed since the early days, and why strategic execution beats a "perfect" product idea every time. If you've been thinking about starting an Amazon business or need the motivation to take the leap, this series is here to help.

Key Topics Covered:

  • Why Amazon is still a good opportunity in 2025 for the right people
  • How beginners can start with minimal risk

  • Are you willing to price lower on TikTok than on Amazon? I'm afraid to price lower and potentially hurt Amazon ranking.
  • Question for the Q&A: what is your recommendation for sourcing outside of China? Do you still recommend using Alibaba or are there other platforms that are better for other countries?
  • How do you manage the returns that come back to your house. I feel like I am only getting a small portion of what Amazon is telling me they sent.
  • I remember you mentioned at some point that you're putting your agency focus towards the clothing side of Amazon. Would you still help with other categories?

Questions:

  • I want to give a scenario in which in my first month selling I had $850 in sales for my product. I spent $75 on PPC advertising and Amazon fees were a shocking $474. That left me with a profit of $305. Can you explain at what point do these numbers start to switch where Amazon fees are not higher than your profit. I assume it's as simple as selling more product, however, I also feel like the more product I sell these Amazon fees are just going to stay higher. Maybe it's girl math :) but makes me feel stuck. I didn't know if you could help me make sense of the numbers.
