Ahoy Matey!

Season 1 · Episode 38

vendredi 4 décembre 2020Duration 01:34:22

Ahoy Matey! This week we tell you the story of Pirate Radio Station, Radio Caroline with special guest Charlie Ashcroft from Amazing Radio.

Radio Caroline which launched in the 60s in reaction to the monopoly of the BBC and the major labels. The station took residency on a boat in the sea just outside British territory and went on to be one of the biggest stations in the UK, much to the digust of the labels and the governments. We dig into the real story of the boat that rocked, including murder, theft, storms and spliffs.

Special thanks to our guest this week, Charlie Ashcroft: https://amazingradio.com/shows/audition/poll

New music this week is from Feral Five, Cat Ryan and Benefits.

Badgering the witness

Season 1 · Episode 37

vendredi 27 novembre 2020Duration 01:30:34

This week’s theme is songs about masturbation including Cindy Laupers ‘She Bop’, Orgasm Addict by Buzzcocks, I touch myself by Divinyls, B.O.B by Macy Gray and Billy Idol’s Dancing with myself. We discuss the back stories to these songs and the impact they had for the bands. From breast cancer awareness to Blue Boy and a few amusing slang terms, this show's packed with some unexpected facts.

We also have lots of new music too. Probably not about masturbation, but songs you really do need to hear, including bands We Three Kings, Dois Padres, Jean Genies Massive Hugs, Hot Wax and Wolfgang Von Vanderghast.
