During his Presidency, Dave Rendle's objective was to tidy up the way we use anthelmintics and start to afford these essential medicines the protection they deserve. On forming the Anthelmintic Working Group, he invited Nic Steel was to be one of the first opinion practitioners to help the group create simple, practical and effective guidance on how vets at the coal face could take responsibility for their roles in the unfolding tragedy that is anthelmintic resistance. Nic talks us through the protectMEtoo toolkit and how it now provides every vet with access to the essential, evidence-based, digestible (you can read this stuff in the time it takes to drink a coffee!) information that they need to know to help their clients and save these medicines for the future.

Increasing student numbers are coming through University but equine and farm need to be given sufficient opportunity and encouragement to allow students to select these careers. Paddy will highlight how practitioners can help students with early experience as well as support students most effectively through EMS. Championing success has also been important in developing the Farm Vet of the Future competition. Paddy has 30 years experience in practice and is working with Bristol and Surrey vet schools.
