Sermons in Rock 5 - The Essence Of Ownership - A Rock Study Guide to The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand

Season 2 · Episode 5

jeudi 3 avril 2025Duration 11:16

Part 5 of 13 in a Rock study guide to the novel The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand.

Episode 5 of Sermons In Rock walks you through the 5th of 13 scenes chosen from the book, in which Howard Roark explains The Essence of the concept of psychological Ownership and what it requires to Gail Wynand - in front of Dominique. Mark Michael Lewis sets the context in the book and examines the lyrics to the song, "The Essence Of Ownership - Roark to Wynand."

This song is the 5th track on the progressive rock concept-album "Sermons In Rock - A Tribute To The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand" by the band Heroic Lullabies. You can listen to the album directly at
https://soundcloud.com/HeroicLullabies/sets/sermons-in-rock

Each of the 13 songs on the album focus on a pivotal scene from the book, using the actual text written by Ayn Rand as the lyrics for the songs. I selected essential parts from a speech or conversation given by Roark, Dominique, Wynand, or Toohey, reorganized them into lyric form, and performed them using ai music generation (Suno.com). The songs move chronologically through the book from The Stoddard Trial to The Cortland Trial and capture many of the central themes from the book. The song titles are as follows:

1. The Temple of The Human Spirit - Dominique to The Court
2. My Answer - Dominique to Roark
3. The Only Way - Roark to Dominique
4. Life As Exaltation - Wynand to Dominique
5. The Essence of Ownership - Roark to Wynand
6. My Work Done My Way - Roark to Keating
7. Second Handers - Roark to Wynand
8. Kill Man's Soul - Toohey to Keating
9. The Man Who Wanted Power - Wynand To The Mob
10. Now I'm Not Afraid - Dominique to Roark
11. The Reasoning Mind - Roark to The Court
12. The Code of The Creator - Roark To The Court
13. My Terms - Roark to The Court
