Purpose, Meaning, Love, and Experiencing Life
mardi 17 décembre 2024 • Duration 19:17
Is it possible that we've been misleading ourselves about life's single, straightforward purpose? Join me as I challenge this notion and open a conversation about embracing life's unpredictability and complexity. Reflecting on the film "Wicked," we weave through themes of legacy, love, and personal meaning, asking what truly defines our contributions to the human narrative. Together, we ponder why struggles are often more comfortable to share than triumphs and how that shapes our connections with others.
Curiosity stands as a guiding force in this exploration, prompting us to question traditional perceptions of love and suffering. As we navigate this complex landscape, I suggest that love, far from a source of pain, has the power to dissolve suffering and bring profound joy. Each chapter of this episode encourages embracing curiosity as a core value, one that fuels creativity and shapes our understanding of purpose. As we wrap up the year, I express heartfelt gratitude for your engagement and hint at more thought-provoking journeys ahead. Let's continue learning, unlearning, and finding joy in the unique experiences that define our lives.

Uncovering the Emotional Roots of Type A Personalities
mardi 17 septembre 2024 • Duration 17:30
Can the relentless drive for success actually stem from childhood loneliness? In this eye-opening episode, I dig in the to the lesser-talked about emotional roots of Type A personalities. We'll trace the origins of these traits back to the 1950s when cardiologists first identified them, and discuss how their outward continuous drive is often an internal struggle for validation and emotional support. Through my extensive work, I've seen how these individuals' high ambition, perfectionism, and fear of failure are coping mechanisms for feeling unseen during their formative years. This episode sheds light on the true motivations behind their productivity and sense of urgency—offering a fresh perspective on what really drives Type A behaviour.

Why Words Matter & How We See Value
mardi 23 juillet 2024 • Duration 21:25
Can the words you choose truly transform your journey of self-discovery? Join me, as we unravel the impact of language on personal development. In this episode, Wendy shares how substituting specific terms can unlock different dimensions of self-awareness. For instance, why "younger self" might be a more approachable term than "inner child," and how "self-value" can provide a deeper connection than "self-worth." Wendy also delves into the hidden patterns of high achievers, who may conceal people-pleasing tendencies behind their facade of high performance and independence.
Tune in to also explore the fluid nature of attachment styles and self-awareness.
Reflect on your own language, values, and behaviours, and learn how to act on new insights differently. This episode is a call to not just listen but to take a minute and understand it for yourself.

Cancel Culture, Visibility and "The List" with Yomi Adegoke
mardi 9 juillet 2024 • Duration 01:02:26
If you've seen the iconic purple book with the emoji on it, or even read it for yourself - then I've got a treat for you today! Joining me on the podcast is Yomi Adegoke, multi award-winning journalist and author of numerous books including her debut novel "The List". As a journalist for The Guardian and British Vogue, she covers topics like race, feminism, popular culture and how they intersect, as well as class and politics and so our episode today builds brilliantly on all of these ideas. Living in a world where something you wrote decades ago online can come back to bite you, we're diving into whether this is a good thing, why Yomi doesn't share much about her personal life on social media and how transitioning from writing non-fiction to fiction brought up insecurities she hadn't expected.
Yomi and I are talking about:
- Yomi's inspiration for her book, "The List"
- Cancel culture and declaring views we hold
- Life online as an author in the public eye and the boundaries we hold
- How Yomi became a critically thinking writer
- Doing things we haven't done before or are bad at
You can connect with Yomi on Instagram @yomi.adegoke or Twitter/X @yomiadegoke. You can buy "The List" here and at all other bookstores.

Archetypal Astrology & Creativity with Sade Jackson
mardi 2 juillet 2024 • Duration 41:57
As children, a lot of us liked to read our horoscopes in the newspaper, but for my guest today, that led to a career in astrology and writing. My guest today is Sade Jackson - astrologer, writer and creativity mentor for creative mavericks, visionaries and muses of soul. When Sade had a reading done by an astrologer at 19, she was told she would one day open her own spiritual business - which, as a sociology student, she couldn't believe would ever be true. After these prolific revelations, she began to study the arts of astrology, which opened up a rabbit hole of new worldly discoveries. Now, over 10 years later, Sade has since become a creative consultant for astrology based apps, has her own astrology column in the Evening Standard and has trained in the energy healing arts of Reiki. Our conversation takes a lot of twists and turns, and you're sure to come out of it pondering so much more than you thought!
Sade and I are talking about:
- How Sade got into astrology and writing
- Books that are about more than just self-development or astrology
- Maiden, mother and crone energies
- The biggest assumptions people make about Sade and her work
- The psychoid, religion and rabbit holes
- Conforming as a society and the people who rebel
- Finding your creativity inside you
- Connecting with your chart
You can connect with Sade on her website at thesadejackson.com, on Instagram @thesadejackson or the Mystica Salon account @mystica_salon.

The Visual Detox with Marine Tanguy
mardi 25 juin 2024 • Duration 01:07:30
We've all heard of a detox, where you attempt to eliminate toxins from your body through various means, but have you ever heard of a visual detox? Today's guest, Marine Tanguy, recently published a book called "The Visual Detox" and I was so excited to dive into the concept more with her! Marine is an art entrepreneur, speaker and media commentator and founder and CEO of MTArt Agency. After managing her first gallery in London at 21 years old and a career in visual arts, she founded her agency, the first of its kind supporting artists worldwide. Marine is a passionate advocate for the role of the artist in guiding the public through a world flooded with visual noise and the agency seeks to ensure artists are rightly recognised as the spokespeople for a visual age. We had such a brilliant conversation that will encourage you to think about the things you see every day!
Marine and I are discussing:
- Why Marine wrote her book, "The Visual Detox"
- Being in tune with the visuals around you such as nature and art
- How advertising influences us psychologically, especially as women
- AI imagery and consciously consuming content
- Equity and visual inequality
- Making art more accessible
- Subconscious biases when viewing images

Embracing the Bare Minimum for Lasting Change
mardi 11 juin 2024 • Duration 23:30
What if embracing the bare minimum in your self-development journey could lead to the big shifts? This week I am exploring how small, seemingly ordinary efforts can transform your life and challenge the all-or-nothing mindset that often leads to burnout. Discover the power of integrating mindful practices into your everyday routine, from figuring out your reaction to words, to setting intentions in the shower. Learn how these simple tools can help you cultivate deeper roots ensuring that your growth is sustainable and meaningful.
In this episode, I share practical tips, a shift in language (next level, new devil is NOT for me), ways to change your view of things and ultimately how not to keep giving up. Reflect on your motivations and see how minimal, consistent practices can prevent the disappointment that often follows massive, intensive self-care sessions. By embedding significant realisations into daily life, you can foster a sense of well-being and trust in yourself, even amidst a busy schedule.
