Interview: HANNAH ROSE MAY,
Exorcism at 1600 Penn, out Oct 16. Art by Vanesa R. Del Rey
Hannah Rose May, thank you for joining us on the AIPT comics podcast! To start, we’ve read the ashcan for Exorcism at 1600 Penn, and it’s primed for the election this year. How long have you been working on this project and was it always intended to launch near election time?
The Ashcan reveals a complex family in the white house, with Kelly Doyle taking on the presidency with her family joining her, was it always intended to be an ensemble story?
Vanesa Del Rey blew me away with Redlands, what made her the right fit for this project?
For fans of Rogues Gallery, what does Exorcism at 1600 Penn offer them?
I really love the title! Were there other options before getting nixed?
What kind of research did you do into politics?
When you write dialogue, do you find yourself speaking aloud to get a feel for each character?
This story feels like someone getting out some existential fears. Did you find writing this to be therapeutic at all?
Jock’s variant cover for this is so haunting. What kind of prompt or resources does a variant cover artist get before diving in?
Declan Shalvey co-wrote the story with you on Rogues Gallery, which got me thinking, now he’s super steeped into the Alien universe, soon the Terminator universe, any desire to jump in with him for a licensed book like that?
If Exorcism at 1600 Penn was a song, what would it be and why?

Alex, thanks for being a guest on the AIPT comics podcast! To start, I’ve loved your X-Men: From the Ashes Infinity Comics, how does the process of writing this differ from conventional comics?
You’ve tackled Omega Red, Phoenix, Cyclops, and Polaris to name a few, with 11 issues under your belt how many more adventures can we expect?
Can fans expect to see any connections from your infinity comics to Sentinels?
Sentinels was a surprise for me, what’s the elevator pitch for the fans out there?
If fans wanted to, should they brush up on Sentinel lore or past stories?
Favorite cyborg soldier of all time?
We just had Hannah Rose May on and Justin Mason came up--they were actually working on Rogues Gallery before he got the Spider-Punk gig--what’s something about his art that really makes Sentinels shine?
Solicits tease a “new” enemy, how do you craft a villain that’s new with so many great ones in the X-Men line, did you go overboard with research, or did it just come to you?
If Sentinels’ first story arc was a song, what would it be and why?
Paranoid Android Radiohead
The November 2023 solicits just came out and it appears Onslaught is on the cover, care to comment, SIR?!
You’re a busy guy, Alex, do you have any other projects you’d like to plug today?

Interview: Charles Soule and Will Sliney: Hell to Pay interview: Out November 2, 2022!
What would be the Hell to Pay mission statement?
Since announced in December 2020, late-stage capitalism seems to have only gotten worse, what was the motivations to make that element so important in Hell to Pay?
The official summary dubs this series Hellboy meets Indiana Jones, what is the collaboration process like creating the creatures in this series?
There's some historical connections introduced in the first issue, for the history nerds out there should they expect more?
Hell to Pay was being created over Twitch which was quite exciting, how did that affect your process and did it end up making you look at the work in a different light?
This series has been years in the making, but when did the first bud of the idea start kicking around?
Will, your layouts are fantastic in the first issue, along with the buildings and structures, what was the collaboration process like creating the truly disturbing locations in this book?
When diving into a story that has Hell in its title, how much research do you do as far as Hell in fiction and historical texts?
Will, there seems to be a lot of symmetry with how you frame the page, are you going for a specific effect with page design?
Gerry Duggan talks comics, photography, and reveals the full spectrum of his human experience
02 Oct 2022
00:37:12
This week, Gerry Duggan joins the AIPT Comics podcast to discuss his new Kickstarter Timing/Luck! We dig into his passion for photography, the inspirations of the book, and how it differs from writing. You can back Timing/Luck here (just 11 days left to back it!).
We also discuss his highly anticipated series The Invincible Iron Man, and what to expect from his upcoming comedy one-shot Halloween Party with Brian Posehn and Scott Koblish. We also run through the Colbert Questionnaire (revealing the full spectrum of his human experience)!
Here's a rundown of the questions Gerry answers:
As of the air time of this interview, Timing/Luck has 11 days left to back on Kickstarter, featuring scenes in Hollywood, from behind the scenes in comics, and street photography, how many years of work does this book span?
Is there different itch photography scratches for you outside of writing comics?
There’s something solitary about writing, and maybe even as a photographer as you’re behind the lens so to speak, what motivates you to put yourself out there in your photography and your comics writing?
You also got Halloween Party coming out October 12, 2022, with Brian Posehn and Scott Koblish, why must Scotch McTiernan’s story continue in this adventure after your 4:20 special?!
I’d be remiss not to ask about you kicking off Invincible Iron Man with Juan Frigeri in December, how long has this project been in the works?
Are there any story arcs fans should pick up to prepare for your run?
When writing comedy, big team books like X-Men, or solo heroes like Iron Man, do you have any methods to getting into the right mindset, be it a mood board of imager, or music?
It’s tantalizing to know Timing/Luck peers behind the curtain showing comics creators, actors, and regular people behind the curtain, so to speak, so I was wondering if we could run through the Colbert Quesionairre so that you can be known, to the listeners, would that be okay?

What has the transition been like going from Batman Killing Time to The UnChosen?
For the artists out there, what are your chosen tools of the trade, do you work digitally 100%?
What has the collaboration process been like Marissa Louise and D.C. Hopkins?

Interview Ryan Stegman Vanish #1 out September 21, writing/drawing Miracleman story in Miracleman #0
Thanks for being on the AIPT Comics podcast, for folks looking at getting into Vanish, can you give us the elevator pitch?
With your podcast Stegman and Friends, your Substack KLC, you’ve created an empire of sorts! With over a year into both, what has been the biggest surprise, and is there anything you’d have done differently at the start?
Vanish was seen by fans as it was being made, was there any fear you might be “giving away” too much before Vanish comes out next week?
Vanish is obviously hugely influenced by 90s comics, what were some of your favorites?
Do you have a favorite character design in Vanish (and if he says the main character, who else)?
You mentioned spin-offs in the AIPT written interview, when you say that do you mean spin offs for you and Donny to explore, or are we talking tie-in series from other creators at some point?
Violence gets pretty brutal in the first issue, how do you balance between going too far or not enough?
With Todd McFarlane producing toys seemingly daily…Vanish action figures when?
You’ve done an exceptional job crafting great covers for Marvel, are you under a contract where you produce a certain number of covers? How does that work with your indie work with Vanish?
I was a huge fan of your work on Superior Spider-Man, the omnibus was just announced, do you have any fond memories or stories working with Dan Slott on that series?
I’m so excited for your Miracleman story in Miracleman #0, can you talk a little about what that character means to you?
Do you have other projects you’d like to talk about today?

Interview André Lima Araújo about Phenomena: The Golden City of Eyes out September 13
Thanks for being on the AIPT Comics podcast, for folks looking at getting into Phenomena, can you give us the elevator pitch?
I read that you largely began work on this without a script. Was there much back and forth as the story started to take form?
Andre, your scenic work is just so incredibly detailed. How often do you find yourself going back and saying, “Just one more thing?”
The first big spread seems inspired by Toronto, and there’s a lot of real world kind of architecture throughout. Are we going to see more things we almost recognize as the series continues?
How do you approach something like this vs. something more grounded like A Righteous Thirst for Vengeance?
Fans of sci-fi novels, comics, books, and movies typically see the same things done in slightly new ways, how did you approach Phenomena to make it feel all its own?
From a nuts and bolts perspective, how far are the rest of the graphic novels completed?
For fans who pick that up next week, Andre what was your favorite page of art in The Golden City?
Do you have other projects you’d like to talk about today?
Doing it all: Declan Shalvey talks Old Dog and espionage

NEWS
Zestworld moves to open beta phase with new design and free comics to read now
DC FanDome ends after two years confirms Discovery
Thanks for being on the AIPT Comics podcast, for folks looking at getting into Old Dog, can you give us the elevator pitch?
Old Dog deals with espionage, but there’s a sci-fi layer to this book as well. For a general audience, will a James Bond fan enjoy Old Dog, or maybe even a Terminator fan?
Given you’re writing, drawing, and coloring, have you ever found yourself mad at YOURSELF, say for a choice that required more work coloring, penciling, etc?
You’re a one man army on this book, minus Clayton Cowles’ exceptional lettering! How’s that collaboration going, and what led to the decision to delegate that?
I’ve seen you mention Heather Antos’ involvement with Old Dog, what is it like working with Heather on this project and in general?
I’m tiptoeing around spoilers here, but Jack has a new partner at the close of the issue. How will their relationship change the tone of the story going forward?
In the perfect world, how many issues is in the Old Dog omnibus?

Thanks for being on the AIPT Comics podcast, to start, you’ve been very busy with Deathstroke, and Predator, and There’s something wrong with Patrick Todd! How long has this wealth of different kinds of stories been in the works?
How has the fan response been for Predator? How great is it to get this out after the delay?
The Predator’s cinematic adventures have so far taken place in the present and the past. Was it always the plan to take your series to the future?
One of the fun things about the Predators is that we still know so little about them. Was that ambiguity something you loved playing with from your main character’s POV?
Batman Inc. drops Ghost-Maker into a detective story! How does Ghost-Maker approach a mystery differently from Batman?
With Deathstroke Inc. was there any trepidation in going with the “Year One” moniker?
Was there a challenge in pulling back some of Slade’s ability and giving us a greener Deathstroke?
I’ve enjoyed the pacing of There’s Something Wrong with Patrick todd, especially that opening page to issue one. What went into crafting this superhero tale that feels inverted, as if the powers are not at the surface of the story?
I gotta ask, was this always the title for this book? Whenever I see a long title I think “The SEO!”
When working with so many different artists with different skills, do you find the writing process different?

Interview: Curt Pires - New America #1--debuts August 23
To start, New America is a political thriller, would you say it’s a response to any specific moment in American history?
You’ve crafted New America with artist Luca Casalanguida. How long has the project been in the works?
Given the political underbelly of New America, do you hope the series could enact change in the real world?
There’s a lot of passion on the page, particularly a scene with a burning of something, when writing the first draft for this did you have to scale back your own passion, or lean into it?
It’s hard to shock me, but I honestly was taken aback by some of the violence. You see holes in people. What went into the choice to make the violence graphic?
Set in the future, how futuristic does New America get?

'Deadpool' #1 ongoing series announced from creators Alyssa Wong and Martin Coccolo
Interview: Matthew Arnold about Eden - in print from Dark Horse Books August 30
Thanks for being on the AIPT Comics podcast, to start, Eden is a sci-fi story about prisons, but what is the elevator pitch?
Many know you for your TV work with Emerald City and Siberia, what is your relationship to comics? Do you have any favorite series as a kid?
Coming from TV, what were some surprises when writing for comics, what came easy?
Eden is set in a world that feels familiar, but advanced. There’s a lot of political unrest. Did you have this future mapped out or have a world Bible?
Eden is a story that seems to have new twists and turns at every corner, were you in competition with yourself to shock the reader at every turn?
What made artist Riccardo Burchielli right for this project?
Was there a panel or page that blew you away that you didn’t expect?
As your debut graphic novel, what did you learn about the medium you didn’t know before? Is there anything you would do differently with your next comics project?

On love and sci-fi: Jeremy Adams talks 'The Flash' and the future
Interview with Jeremy Adams - The Flash Annual 2022 - Serge Acuna
The Flash Annual is out August 30 FOC Sunday
The Flash Annual #1 2022 features a story about Wally West and Linda Park-West, can you tell folks why now was the right time to explore their relationship and Linda a little bit?
The solicit for this annual is a bit cryptic, but the concept is so damn fun we have to talk about it. You've basically got a story within a story here, one of my favorite kinds of comics, but a specific kind at that. What inspired the concept behind this annual?
I love how many full page splashes you give Serg Acuna, was there a formula or a thinking process as to where those splashes take place?
I have to respect your nerdness, Jeremy, as there's not one but multiple references to pop culture. I think I caught a Harry Potter, a Star Trek, maybe Rocketeer too, do you ever consciously think about putting references like this into the story?
Something I think fans will love about this annual is how you write Linda and how you convey her strength even prior to having powers. Why was that important to highlight for you with this annual?
There's a cliffhanger here that'll have folks gasp, without spoiling it, how serious are you and DC Comics in pursuing this storyline?
In your humble opinion what is a more powerful weapon for Linda, super speed...or journalism/writing?
What comics are you reading right now?
What is your favorite form of procrastination?

With so many books with Dan Mora, do you both have a shorthand at this point?
Can anyone get behind Waller’s actions after all that she’s done in recent years and now this? How do you navigate not making her too one-dimensional?
When writing a character like Waller, is there a certain headspace you need to be in?
Given Green Arrow seemingly edging towards agreeing with Waller, might we assume not every hero is on her hit list?
Could one assume this is all leading toward ALL heroes going into hiding, or at least never being trusted by the public again?
With so many characters involved in this event, and so many locations across the globe, do you or someone else have a giant Risk game board out trying to keep track of things?
After headlining the Lazarus Planet event, how would you say headlining Absolute Power is different?

Interview with Scott Snyder - Barnstormers, Dudley Datson, and The Forever Machine, and Canary - July 19
Last year you launched We Have Demons,’ Night of the Ghoul,’ and ‘Clear for "Scottober" and this year we have Barnstormers, Canary, and Dudley Datson and the Forever Machine...has ComiXology come up with a "Scottsummer" slogan? What would we call this launch?
Originally announced as an 8-series deal, when might we see Duck and Cover and Book of Evil?
From a creation standpoint, have these series been completed for a while or are they still being finalized?
The first three titles were clearly leaning towards horror and monsters, where are you going genre wise with these three new titles?
6 degrees of kevin bacon
Dudley Datson and Clear both introduced some wild technology that I could see become a reality, in another life would you be an inventor?
I love that you're reminding folks of the idea of Barnstorming, which I think only Tom Cruise is doing these days but I could be wrong. What fascinates you about this American cultural phenomenon?

Interview with Zack Kaplan to talk Forever Forward #1 - Out August 24
Art by Arjuna Susini with colors are by Brad Simpson and letters by Jim Campbell
For our readers, what is Forever Forward?
Do you have to create charts or a bulletin board to keep track of timelines/theories?
I’m pretty surprised to see a book identify the invading force when so many choose to keep that vague. What made you decide to go ahead and say, “This is who we’re fighting?”
There’s so much detail to the tech designs. How detailed was the lab description in the script? Same with the futuristic bits?
The first issue uses a lot of double-page layouts instead of conventional layout structures, what made you go that route?
Forever Forward is published under Scout, what made them the right publisher for this project?
What is it about science going horribly right?
Given the number of sci-fi stories you’ve got going this year alone, do you have a book of ideas that are yet untapped and how many good ideas are there?

Nathan: The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country #3 (Reiko Murakami)
Segment: Interview with Jadzia Axelrod & Jess Taylor about Galaxy: The Prettiest Star (out May 17)
How would you describe Galaxy The Prettiest Star to a reader who you know would just love to read this OGN?
The secret identity is a trope we often see in superhero stories, and identity is so important to this story – was your approach to secret identities a starting point for this story?
The DC Graphic Novels for Young Adults imprint takes place in a bit of a different continuity than ongoing DC comics, what are your thoughts about bringing Galaxy into the larger DC continuity? If it were to happen, how would you want her to be introduced, both narratively and visually?
DC Pride 2022 had a Galaxy and Dreamer team up full-page splash, might we see these characters team up soon?
Something interesting about Galaxy the Prettiest Star from a superhero perspective is how Galaxy’s powers aren’t defined quite yet, how did you approach unveiling them as the narrative took place?
How important was David Bowie’s music to creating this story? Did Aladdin Sane as a whole give you a template in some ways? Can I ask which song Galaxy sings to Kat?
Jess, your art is simply stunning. Can you talk a little bit about your process? Your panels and pages are so layered!
How did the pair of you come up with the look of Galaxy’s powers, specifically the way she sees things differently from everyone else?
Jess an artist I kept thinking of is Scott Morse reading this work, who I believe went on to work at Pixar, would you ever be interested in taking Galaxy to animation?
To get inside the mind of a comics creator, what are some comics that you grew up loving? Have there been any newer comics you’ve admired?
Do you have any other projects you’d like to talk about today?

Segment: Interview with Si Spurrier and Aaron Campbell about Suicide Squad: Blaze #3
Si and Aaron, you've done horror before with Hellblazer, how is the horror different or the same in Suicide Squad Blaze?
In a story where Superman can die, is there any hope at all?
Something I found truly horrific aside from the monster or the talking shark, but the human faces of fear and grit. Aaron where do you find inspiration in these facial expressions?
Suicide Squad Blaze #2 goes hard killing a lot of heroes. Is it freeing knowing you can kill DC darlings?
With so many heroes dead, what should readers expect in issue 3 before foc this Sunday?
Now that we have two issues behind us so there's less chance to spoil, Aaron what has been the most fun to draw?
Does having more space to draw and write changed how you think about this story? Visually captions play in the dark well, for instance.
One of our main characters, Mike is codependent on another member of the team, Tanya, how does a character recover from being such an ass?
I’m fascinated by the use of color in the series, Jordie Bellaire colors this series but I was curious if you had thoughts on what the color story was going for?
A core dynamic of the team in SS: Blaze is how a bunch of total rookies are given abilities, if given the same abilities how would you respond?
Aaron, Si you're clearly working on all cylinders together, might you team up again soon?

Weird Al and Z2 team up for 'The Illustrated Al' graphic novel
Segment: Interview - Geof Darrow - Shaolin Cowboy: Cruel To Be Kin’ #1 out NOW! Issue #2 out June 22, 2022.
What made now the right time for Shaolin Cowboy’s next adventure?
The first-ever issue of Shaolin Cowboy came out in 2004, with 18 years drawing and knowing this character, what can you say you’ve learned about the character, and yourself in that span of time?
The level of detail on every page is astounding, given that detail, do you have any tricks to maintain focus and meet deadlines?
How long has Cruel to be Kin been in the works?
Where did the framing device of the Komodo Dragons come from?
What part of the artistic process is the most fun and enjoyable to you?
Your editor on Shaolin Cowboy Cruel to Be Kin is Daniel Chabon, what is it like working with him?
In 2009 a Shaolin Cowboy animated movie was rumored to be in the works, with far more streaming options than ever now, might there be a chance for the production to kick into gear again?
Dark Horse has had rumblings of producing video games, do you think Shaolin Cowboy and the world building you’ve done could work in that format?
Having read and enjoyed the pencil art of Geof Darrow, was it your idea to have comics creators and peers add commentary?
What comics are you reading right now?

Colin: Catwoman #43 - Jenny Frison variant because it’s super beautiful.
Segment: Interview - Kyle Starks about I Hate This Place out May 18th
Thanks for being on the AIPT Comics podcast, to start, what was the elevator pitch for I Hate This Place?
What’s the trick behind writing a good horror story with a love story?
How frustrated are you about the push to change the title from Fuck This Place to I Hate This Place? Seems to drop the stakes right away.

Dr. Strange…our THOUGHTS!
DC Comics releases 'Dark Crisis' checklist and first 7 pages of FCBD Dark Crisis special
Segment: Interview - Greg Pak, Khoi Pham, and Scott Hanna for Duo #1 May 17
I understand Reggie Hudlin pitched you the idea, Greg, when you first heard it where did your mind wander surrounding the idea of having your romantic partner forever inside your head?
What's it like working with Denys Cowan and Reginald Hudlin on this?
What was your first entry into Milestone comics?
Duo is set in a new location called Earth-M, what was the starting material for this world before you kicked things off?
Greg and Khoi, you worked on Hercules together, what's it like getting the band back together for this project?
Representation matters so much, especially in comics, with Kelly and David being Vietnamese-American and a Korean-American stuck inside one body, will we see an exploration of how they navigate their own family ties?
Speaking of those creepy creatures, is that skin like a whale's skin? It looks squishy!
The series seems well timed seeing as just a few days ago research came out about why humans tend to die around 80, how much research went into this project surrounding nanotech and health?
Duo is about a superhero who gets their powers from an accident which got me wondering...which superhero is your favorite who got their powers from an accident?
Koi and Scott you get to draw some creepy looking creatures and a super-suit, what has been the most fun to draw so far?

ComiXology Co-Founder/CEO David Steinberger is leaving the company
Segment: Interview with Stephanie Phillips Taarna hardback edition is coming out this summer!
What was your introduction to Taarna? Did you read Heavy Metal Magazine growing up?
This story manages to flesh Taarna out while still leaving parts of her history to the imagination. How do you accomplish this balancing act?
The original Heavy Metal film - particularly the Taarna segment - is filled with both epic needle drops and an incredible Elmer Bernstein score. Do you listen to anything while you write Taarna, and would you recommend any albums or artists for readers to crank up while they read?
This series has a rotating group of artists. Taarna goes very hard, from heads being crushed to Taarna entering the fucking sun, was there a particular panel or page one of the artists blew you away with?
When developing the villain Urcuss, what was your approach and were there any inspirations?

Zack, thank you for being on the AIPT Comics podcast, I think it’s safe to say you’re a friend of AIPT, we’ve run numerous interviews with you over the years and I’m excited for your lineup in 2022!
Let’s start with Break Out, your new book at Dark Horse, although I gotta say it’s interesting both Break Out! And Metal Society are sci-fi stories where the world as we know it is completely changed. Is there a reason these stories took that track?
They’re both stories about fighting back against those with power, what inspired these directions?
You told comicbook.com Break Out is Ocean’s Eleven in style, are we talking heist montages?
Do you have any favorite inter-dimensional sci-fi stories?
Metal Society is another series by you announced for May, can you talk a little bit about that?

Substack adds comics creators and new projects in 2022
Interview - Ryan Parrott Rogue Sun - February 23, 2022
Rogue Sun’s announcement was a pleasant surprise, did the idea for the hero begin before figuring out how it fits in the Radiant Black universe?
When writing a lead character who is 17, how do you get into that headspace?
Rogue Sun is also a murder mystery, I’m always fascinated by how creators write a who-done-it. Where did you start for Rogue Sun?
The hero in a super-suit is practically a trope at this point with Power Rangers and Gieger, why do you think this type of hero continues to interest audiences to this day?
Abel’s art is insane, with a thin detailed line that sets this book apart, how did you two connect for this project?
In the grand scheme of things if given unlimited resources, how long would Rogue Sun run on for as a series?
Dylan is an intriguing character because he’s also a troubled bully, which is a unique angle. What made you take this track for the protagonist?
Super minor detail but, I love the fake store names like Wallgrans, is that something you write in the script or something Abel adds?
The superhero crossover is always exciting, I think people lost their minds when Invincible and Spider-Man teamed up. Are there any team-ups you dream about for Rogue Sun?
The Eltarian War is nearing its end and I have to say the story has been epic at every turn. Is there an art to creating fulfilling cliffhangers on an epic scale?
If given the powers or Rogue Sun, what would you do?
Buckaroo Banzai Super Spectacular with Earl Mac Rauch & W.D. Richter
Interview - Buckaroo Banzai Against the World Crime League - Earl Rauch & W.D. Richter
Tell our listeners about yourselves and how you came to collaborate on the original Buckaroo Banzai. As I recall, the original script went through a number of forms.
One of the elements I love about the movie and the novel are the constant callbacks - like an editor’s note in a Marvel comic - was this a conscious decision to adopt a comic book convention?
Were there any comics you were reading at the time?
Against the World Crime League was originally teased at the end of the film. How has this story evolved from its original conception? And why was a novel the right medium?
I have to ask about my favorite film, Big Trouble in Little China - Much like Buckaroo, Jack Burton has endured. What is it about these characters that connect with audiences all these years later?
Without spoiling anything - things are looking pretty bleak for Buckaroo and the Hong Kong Cavaliers at the start of this book. Were these big changes always in the cards?
The multiverse is hotter than ever right now, if you could have a Buckaroo crossover with any movie or comic book character, what would it be and why?
Has Mike Richardson pitched you to open up a Buckaroo Banzai comic series?
Are you reading or watching anything right now that you’d like to put on our listeners’ radars?

Cullen, thank you for being on the AIPT Comics podcast. It seems fitting you’re here to talk Shadowman, you were on way back in March to talk about the first arc, and we are now embarking on the second story arc this week. What has the fan response been like so far?
Something about Shadowman that works is how it blends the superhero fighting and the horror elements too. Do you approach scripting in a different way to blend the two?
Issue 5 catches readers up on the story up top. How do you balance exposition and action in a way that feeds off each other?
PEDRO ANDREO joins the series with #5, was there a specific panel that blew your socks off?
Shadowman feels like it’s setting up a very long run, how far out have you plotted this story?
What can we expect from the Deadside War and how it affects the wider Valiant universe?

Ms. Marvel: Beyond the Limit has a few ideas at work be it the multiverse and Bollywood, where did you start in crafting this store?
There are a few internal monologue jokes from Kamala in the issue, what are the chances she has a stand up career some day?
Ms. Marvel Beyond the Limit is a lot about the many forms of Ms. Marvel, in her own history, but also in the multiverse. When thinking up alternate versions of Ms. Marvel, did you leave any on the cutting room floor?
"Kamala's relationship with her supporting cast has always been a huge focal point of her series, giving the title a sense of community. What characters can we expect to see pop up --like Zoe or Nakia...or maybe even Kareem?"
"Kamala's family has always been so important in her stories, shaping her morality and her decision to do what's right for others. What was it like to add another character to her family with Razia?"
Andres's supplied a good vibrancy to the book, was there a particular panel or page in the series that came back and blew you away?
You're a best selling author, were there methods that worked when writing a comic, were there methods that didn't?
It's hard to believe Ms. Marvel is only 8 years old, why do you think she's so timeless?
Are you an avid reader of comics? What comics are you reading right now?

Interview: Deniz Camp - Ultimates #1 - Children of the Vault - 20th Century Men
Deniz, thank you for being our guest on the AIPT Comics podcast! To start, this episode will air just a few days before Ultimates #1 comes out, how excited are you to see fan reactions?
Can you talk a little bit about how you snagged the writing gig for Ultimates? By all accounts this seems like the most important book as far as worldbuilding is concerned.
With a few scripts under your belt, is there a specific Ultimate/Avenger you enjoy writing the most?
Were you a fan of the original Ultimates and the line at the time?
The FCBD story you wrote gives us a lot of hints as to the whereabouts of heroes, I was curious, how much of those required Wil Moss to check as far as green lighting things, or do you have full reign to erase or delete a character from this timeline?
Pie in the sky, is there a character that floats to the top you’re excited to dig into, and if it’s a spoiler, can you give a hint as to who they might be? 19:0020:26
Juan Frigeri is no slouch when it comes to big superhero action, was there a panel or page he blew you away with, so far?
I was a big fan of your Children of the Vault miniseries, which frankly had some mind bending ideas at work. Did writing that help you gear up for Ultimates in any way?
Does the Ultimate Universe office have a slack going? Are you all digging into each others scripts and keeping tabs?
At this point 20th Century Men is iconic in a lot of ways, for fans of Ultimates, why should they check it out?

Alex Ross to pen and illustrate ‘Fantastic Four: Full Circle’ out August 2022
Segment: Interview with Becky Cloonan, Michael Conrad, and Jorge Corona about Batgirls!
Batgirls #1 comes out 12/14, I wanted to start by asking each of you, can you sum up the vibe of the series in 1 word?
Becky and Michael, you've been collaborating for some time, what is your writing process like? How do you break story, write dialogue, as a team?
Jorge, I've reviewed a few of the Batgirls backups and I've equated your work to graffiti, and lo and behold there is literal graffiti in the first issue! Do you have a background in tagging?
Seer is an interesting hacker character, are there specific characters in fiction, or people in your life, you drew on to characterize him?
I understand you've been building up towards this series in the backup stories, but how long has the idea for this series been percolating?
Who do you enjoy writing the most, Cassandra Cain, Stephanie Brown, or Barbara Gordon?
I really dig the splatter effect seen throughout the book, what materials are you working with Jorge?
The splashy page where Stephanie says "Let's Rumble" is so badass, Jorge, do you have a favorite page from the first issue?
Sarah Stern's colors are incredible, why the effort to make Gotham so much more bright?
Becca Carey's letters are also strong, what is your process like working with her?
The opening issue makes note that the Batgirls are set up on The Hill est. 1635, is there any significance in the age of the area?
What comics are you reading right now?

I'm a big fan of Lost Falls, which recently wrapped up and next up is Memoria (out next Tuesday 12/7). I'm always curious, when were these stories first started as an idea, then scripted, and then finally finished? Can you walk us through the timeline a bit?
Memoria is a story our heroes are an old and sick detective and a young burnout detective, why are these types of detectives well suited for your story?
The art by Sundando C and colors by Mark Dale add a level of realism we don't often see in detective stories of any kind (movies, comics), can you talk a little bit about the approach with the art and textures?
Whenever a serial killer story pops up I ponder, did the writer research every serial killer ever? How much research went into Memoria?
The quotes in the back of each issue feel almost like clues for the reader, as if we should read it and ponder its significance to the story itself, is that the case or did you use these for a different effect?
For what it's worth, loved seeing a Blood Meridian quote at the end of issue #3.
The solicit text calls this TRUE DETECTIVE meets LETHAL WEAPON Curious if you could comment on your opinion of True Detective and Lethal Weapon?
Do you have a favorite DAVID FINCHER film?
How do you approach writing dialogue? I noticed in the Memoria #1 advance copy, the slang is subtle, but it's there.
Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou's lettering is something else with memoria, with no border on the word balloons, and ballons sort of gliding past each other never touching, were there prompts as far as lettering ideas? What was the process like?
As someone who reads a lot of comics, I was curious if there are any specific comics you're reading right now that you're enjoying?
With YOUTH currently in development with Amazon Studios is there anything you can talk about in regards to its development?
