125. Sick and Tired? Simple Hacks to Enhance Sleep and Boost Energy.
jeudi 10 juillet 2025 • Durée 01:00:29
I prefer Simplicity. However, when I come across a recipe or hear about a health tip that seems straightforward, I often wonder if it will actually work.
That's why today's podcast impacted me. Dr. Stephen Hussey, author of Understanding the Heart, focuses on providing simple tips to improve health.
He had a heart attack at the age of 34 while he was writing his book about heart health. As you can imagine, that certainly got his attention!
We talked about the ways he's changed his life today after that heart attack.
What did we discuss? One is the impact of unnatural lighting on our health. Staying indoors, under fluorescent lights, with limited activity, and consuming processed foods all significantly contribute to poor health.
We also had a great discussion about the circadian rhythm. When you're sleeping, your body conducts surveillance and eliminates and cleans up all the damaged cells. If you're not sleeping well, it's almost impossible to be well.

124. Top Tips I Loved from June!
jeudi 3 juillet 2025 • Durée 21:02
I had some HUGE takeaways in June. The good news? Both of these tips are easy to implement. The two areas where I gained the most insights were:
Supporting someone going through a tough time.
The peace that I feel when I continue to walk in forgiveness.
How do you support someone who is going through a difficult time?
Ask two simple questions:
How are you doing right now?
How are you doing with that news you heard today?
Try to keep it simple and let them know that you can do specific things for them.
So instead of saying, "Call me if you need me," say instead, "Can I drive you to your appointment on Thursday?"
Walking in forgiveness.
Doesn't it seem like almost every day, you can get offended and angry?
One of my podcast guests told me how she moved through forgiveness after her daughter was diagnosed with an illness. She told me she'd go outside to the woods and scream. I thought that seemed like a good idea, but going out to the woods and screaming didn't resonate with me.
What resonated with me was going to an exercise class and lifting weights. The loud environment allowed me to forgive someone who hurt me without worrying about being heard. I would say, "I forgive [name] and release you to the Holy Spirit."
I realized that making my forgiveness more physical didn't mean I went after someone and smacked them upside the head (as fun as that sounds! ). Instead, the movement helped release stress from my body. By the end of one of my "forgiveness" workouts, I felt lighter and calmer.

I've been using the Air Doctor air purifier for almost a year and absolutely love it! I first heard about it from Dr. Mark Hyman, and even though it was a bit of a splurge compared to what I usually spend, I'm so glad I invested. Every time I change the filter and see all the gunk it collects, I smile, knowing it's doing a great job keeping my air clean!
And I'm so happy that all that gunk isn't going into my body ;)

115. Does Glyphosate Contribute to Cancer (Re-Release)
Épisode 115
jeudi 1 mai 2025 • Durée 49:19
Make America Healthy Again? Have we ever been healthy?
I've been in the health field for thirty-five years.
In all that time, I had never heard a news media report on red dyes in food.
For the first time, I'm encouraged by the future of our American food system!
For me, this is not a political issue. I truly want to give people the same opportunities that I have. I know how to read labels and avoid cancer-causing ingredients in my food. Most people don't.
Americans are starting to question our food manufacturers. That's a big first step in eliminating harmful ingredients from food (many of which have been banned in Europe for decades).
Today's podcast, with MAHA advocate and activist Kelly Ryerson, made me sad and mad. Kelly (Glyphosate Girl) discussed the damage glyphosate (the active ingredient in Roundup) does to our environment and bodies.
Kelly has spent years in the trenches explaining why this chemical is so dangerous to anyone who would listen. It's such an easy default to use a heavy chemical load to kill weeks. Did you know there are simple alternatives to using such a large amount of chemicals in farming?
Kelly also explained that while this product is sold in Europe, the company that makes Roundup has created a less toxic alternative for sale in Europe.
This, to me, is mind-blowing!
If they can make a less harmful version that still works for Europe, can't one be made for the US as well?

Toups and Co
It's happened...I'm putting beef tallow on my face, and my skin looks lush, and it doesn't smell like a hamburger :)
I've seen the TikTok videos about beef tallow. I avoided trying it because it sounded like I'd be putting grease on my face.
Enough people asked me about it, so I started reading more information and trying out various tallows.
There was one company that stood out to me.
I feel like I hit a home run with the brand Toups and Co.
I first heard of this brand on a friend's podcast (Holistic Hilda with the Weston A Price Foundation). She interviewed the founder, Emily Toups. She was a mom looking for a solution to her child's skin issues. She was frustrated with the lack of progress with drugstore and prescription meds, so she reached out to a local farmer for tallow.
The rest, as they say, is history. Her daughter is healed, and my skin looks great, haha!
Thank you, Toups Family, for making such excellent products and offering my community a 15% discount.
I'm currently using:
Frankincense Skim Balm
Blue Tansy Body Oil
The Nourishing Skin Care Set (this includes skin balm, body oil, tinted lip chap, and a tallow bar—and it's on sale!).
Deodorant - it really works!

39: Putting ‘Junk’ in Your Heart Will Make You Sick
A candid conversation with Dr. Henry Cloud
Being vulnerable makes me uncomfortable, especially considering how I "used to be" before cancer.
Before cancer, it was crucial to me to be liked. So, "to make" people like me, I didn't always share my opinions or let people get to know the "real me."
When I received the cancer diagnosis, everything changed.
Suddenly, I had to save my energy for healing, and I stopped caring if people liked me. I then started to look at some of my relationships. Some of my friendships needed better boundaries, and I needed to manage my expectations about the friendship.
All of a sudden, I FELT FREE. I felt lighter and truly began to enjoy the people in my life.
I first heard Dr. Cloud, author of Boundaries, on the radio twenty-five years ago.
So, you can imagine how delighted I was when Dr. Cloud agreed to come on my podcast to discuss how our relationships can impact our health.
My specific question to him was this, "can a lack of boundaries or being co-dependent contribute to cancer risk?"
You've got to hear his surprising answer!
Dr. Henry Cloud is an acclaimed leadership expert, clinical psychologist, and New York Times bestselling author. His 45 books, including the iconic Boundaries, have sold nearly 20 million copies worldwide. In addition, he has an extensive executive coaching background and experience as a leadership consultant, devoting most of his time to working with CEOs, leadership teams, and executives to improve performance, leadership skills, and culture.

38: Can a Lack of Boundaries Contribute to Cancer Risk?
A candid conversation with Boundaries author, Dr. Henry Cloud.
I was 33, single, and struggling with boundaries. I always picked the wrong guy, and then the relationship would blow up, and I'd be crushed and have a crisis of confidence.
One day I was driving to a work appointment and switched on my radio and discovered Dr. Cloud on my local radio station. He spoke to my brokenness about my relationships. He taught me about boundaries in such a simple way! He stated that boundaries are like the locked door on a house; you unlock the door to let in the right people and keep it shut to keep the wrong people out!
You can imagine what a thrill it was for me to host Dr. Henry Cloud on my podcast! I was geeking out :) He's been my mentor and life coach for twenty-five years, and I've never even talked to him.
My focus of this interview was, can a lack of boundaries or being co-dependent contribute to cancer risk. Of course, I've been wondering if I've contributed to my cancer through the drama I've had in my personal life.
I found his answer surprising, so make sure you listen to part one of my interview with Dr. Cloud.

37: Daily Habits to Prevent and Fight Cancer!

37: Daily Habits to Prevent and Fight Cancer!
Today's podcast episode with Keith Bishop is a simple reminder that we can fight cancer or lower cancer risk through our daily habits.
My takeaway today was that let's not make cancer prevention too complicated; there are simple habits we can incorporate daily that can knock down our risk.
Move a bit more each day.
Cut back on sugar and alcohol.
Don't drink super-hot beverages (darn it! I love my piping hot tea 😊)
Keith also told me that while colon cancer risk seems to be going down for older folks, colon cancer in younger people is on the rise. Why?
Keith believes a sedentary lifestyle is a significant contributor.
What that means to me is Get Up and Move, even if you add only a few sets of stairs or a quick walk after dinner.
My biggest takeaway from this conversation with Keith is that small changes can make a HUGE health impact!

36: Can Positive Emotions Kill Cancer Cells?
Épisode 36
jeudi 26 janvier 2023 • Durée 39:09
36: Can Positive Emotions Kill Cancer Cells?
Join me for part two of my interview with the New York Times best-selling author of Radical Remission and Radical Hope, Dr. Kelly Turner.
Did you know that positive emotions can impact your pituitary and pineal glands and flood your bloodstream with oxytocin, relaxin, serotonin, and endorphins?
Translation: These hormones have been shown in studies to reduce the spread of and the growth speed of cancer cells.
Dr. Turner also shared that researchers dripped oxytocin into Petri dishes holding breast cancer cells; the oxytocin diminished the breast cancer cells.
Listen to today's podcast episode to discover the ten healing factors all her study subjects had in common.
These ten key healing factors for Radical Remission are, in no particular order:
Radically changing your diet
Taking control of your health
Following your intuition
Using herbs and supplements
Releasing suppressed emotions
Increasing positive emotions
Embracing social support
Deepening your spiritual connection
Having strong reasons for living
Exercise
In Radical Remission, Dr. Turner states that these factors are in no particular ranking order — in her research, there was no “clear winner” among the factors. While some people focused more on one factor than others, the majority of the survivors she interviewed did practice all nine of these key factors. These key factors are now considered “hypotheses” — that is, more research is needed to “prove” that these factors improve the chances of healing from cancer or other conditions.
Dr. Turner points out: “I don’t give medical advice nor do I even give advice. I’m just here to report on my research, and I can certainly say what radical remission survivors would do from a research standpoint.”
Dr. Turner shows how survivors overcame dire circumstances and diagnoses using modalities beyond the conventional treatments of surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and other “standard” cancer treatments. Interestingly, seven of these ten key factors that Radical Remission survivors reported using are psychosocial (mental/emotional) factors, while the other three are nutritionally and movement-related.
While getting her Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkley, Dr. Turner, a researcher, lecturer, and counselor in integrative oncology, was shocked to discover that no one was studying episodes of radical (or unexpected) remission—when people recover against all odds without the help of conventional medicine, or after conventional medicine has failed. She was so fascinated by this kind of remission that she embarked on a ten-month trip around the world, traveling to ten different countries to interview fifty holistic healers and twenty radical remission cancer survivors about their healing practices and techniques. Her research continued by interviewing over 100 Radical Remission survivors and studying over 1000 of these cases. Her evidence presents nine common themes that she believes may help even terminal patients turn their lives around.

35: Can Listening to Your Intuition Cause a Radical Remission?
A candid conversation with Dr. Kelly Turner, author of "Radical Remission and Radical Hope."
Today I welcome Kelly A Turner, Ph.D. and New York Times best-selling author of Radical Remission and Radical Hope.
Kelly and I talk about the difference between radical remission and spontaneous healing and the ten key healing factors that cancer survivors have in common. Sure, we can assume that changing diet and lowering stress levels can impact healing but what about factors such as listening to your intuition? For Dr. Turner, intuition was the hardest healing factor for her to understand so she dove into research to see if this could be a legitimate healing factor, spoiler alert, she found numerous studies citing intuition as a healing factor.
According to Dr. Turner, almost all the Radical Remission survivors that she interviewed mentioned doing these same ten things to heal their cancer.
These ten key healing factors for Radical Remission are, in no particular order:
Radically changing your diet
Taking control of your health
Following your intuition
Using herbs and supplements
Releasing suppressed emotions
Increasing positive emotions
Embracing social support

33. MOLD: Can That Musty Smell Make You Sick?
I learned much from today's podcast with mold expert Bridgit Danner.
I've never given much thought about mold and the impact it could have on chronic disease or even cancer!
When Bridgit explained that chemical warfare is often made from a mold, she got my attention!
If mold is strong enough to be used in a bomb, what kind of havoc can it create in my body?
Listen to today's episode to learn more about this fascinating topic.

Your Complete Guide to Health Recovery from Toxic Mold
According to Dr. Isaac Eliaz:
"You may not be aware of it, but mold is probably affecting your health. So even if it’s not on your mind, “how to detox your body from mold” should be something we all need to be asking.
Even if mold is making you sick, you might not know it’s the source of your symptoms. That’s because mold toxicity can act like many other conditions, so it often goes misdiagnosed and untreated. Exposure can cause many different symptoms, including:
Fatigue
Cough
Shortness of breath
Fever
Headache
Joint pain
Memory problems
Dizziness
Sinus infections
Wheezing
Trouble concentrating
Sensitivity to light
Skin rash
Digestive problems
One of the main reasons mold toxins can cause so many different symptoms is this: These toxins can suppress or damage your immune system. Not only can they bring on symptoms themselves, they can make you more vulnerable to other illnesses.
Surrounded by Mold
Mold exposure is shockingly common. It’s found in the air, damp or water-damaged buildings, even the food you’re eating. Foods that commonly contain mold include cereal grains, nuts, spices, coffee, bulk foods (like the kind you buy from bins to save money) and dairy products.
You come across mold inside and outside, and it can travel around with you. Mold spores can attach to things like:
Clothing
Shoes
Pets
Reusable grocery bags
That means it can come home with you from just about anywhere. And if it ends up somewhere even slightly damp, it will grow and multiply.
In nature, mold speeds up the break down (decomposition) of things like dead trees and fallen leaves. Some molds are used to make cheese or create antibiotics.
But many types of mold can be hazardous to your health. These molds produce mycotoxins, poisons that can cause severe health problems and a wide variety of symptoms.
The two most common harmful mycotoxins are aflatoxin and ochratoxin, and exposure to either (or both) of these can trigger substantial health issues — from chronic allergies to cancer.
What’s more, if your body can’t remove these toxins on its own, they can slip into long-term storage to cause lasting or recurring damage.
Mycotoxins Damage Your Health
Mycotoxins are sneaky. While mold itself can’t enter your bloodstream — though it can hang around and colonize in spots like your nostrils and lungs — mycotoxins can get into your bloodstream and circulate throughout your body.
These opportunistic toxins can hijack your immune system, making you more vulnerable to infections. If your immune system is already compromised (such as people with autoimmune conditions or undergoing cancer treatment), mycotoxins take advantage. If you’re healthy, they can make you very sick.
Studies show that mycotoxins can:
Cause lung inflammation that can make it harder to breathe
Disrupt your gut health by reducing beneficial bacteria and encouraging pathogens
Trigger chronic fatigue syndrome
Affect brain function and cognition
Cause liver damage, including cancer
Worsen allergy and asthma symptoms
Unfortunately, mold toxicity is frequently misdiagnosed. Because of its wide-ranging effects, it’s typically mistaken for other conditions including depression, multiple sclerosis, or autoimmune conditions. Plus, because mycotoxins are opportunistic, they’re often connected with debilitating diseases such as Lyme disease, IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and fibromyalgia."
