Are you or a loved one in the midst of a cancer diagnosis, or bouncing back from your battle? Welcome to Thrive Through and Beyond Cancer, the podcast that offers hope in the healing, and shares personal experiences, self-care solutions, health tips, and the support of a community - people just like you. I'm Season Johnson - a functional nutritional therapy practitioner whose son was diagnosed with cancer right before his 3rd birthday. My job was to keep people healthy, to help them fight disease. So when my own son was diagnosed with this scary disease it was so humbling. But rather than becoming a victim I began researching, upleveling my knowledge, my mindset and chose to serve others through our own cancer journey. And this show is an opportunity to find, and share, strength through our situations.
You'll hear from health professionals, innovative thinkers, dynamic personalities, and those who have learned to live life to the fullest - despite their diagnosis. We will raise some questions, find some answers, shed a few tears, share more than a few laughs, and give each other the motivation to get through one more day…every single day. So join me on this journey, and let's learn to Thrive Through Cancer…together. Follow us now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you enjoy your shows.

Ep. 140 – Some Days I Don't Trust God: Faith, Fear & Parenting After Childhood Cancer
mardi 22 septembre 2026 • Durée 18:42
When fear follows you home.
Some days I trust God. Some days I question Him. And some days, after sitting across from families facing devastating diagnoses and impossible decisions, I honestly don't know what to believe.
If you've walked your child through cancer, you know that fear doesn't simply disappear when treatment ends. You notice every bruise. A fever can take your mind somewhere completely different. The hospital calling can change your entire nervous system before you even answer the phone. You know too much now to simply go back to the way you thought before.
In this episode, I'm talking about the incredibly thin line between conviction and fear. From the outside, they can produce exactly the same choices. But internally, they feel completely different.
I share what Josh and I have learned about accepting the fragility we now understand without allowing it to control our family. We'll talk about what we actually can control as parents, why trying to create a perfect health bubble isn't the answer, and how healthy boundaries can coexist with birthday cake, road trips, flexibility, and joy.
I also share one of the things I want parents to hear most clearly: you did not cause this. Doing everything "right" cannot guarantee an outcome, and one imperfect choice does not mean you have failed your child.
And when it comes to our kids, the goal isn't to make them afraid of food, supplements, or getting sick again. It's to educate them so they can eventually understand and take ownership of their own health.
This is also a conversation about faith without easy answers. I'm not going to pretend I understand why some children get sick or why some families experience unimaginable loss. But I am learning that I can acknowledge what I cannot control while continuing to steward the days I've been given.
Because you cannot unknow what you know. But fear doesn't have to decide what you do with it.
Ep. 139 – When Life Changes the Story: Reclaiming Hope, Wonder & What Comes Next with Harris III
mardi 15 septembre 2026 • Durée 54:54
Your story isn't finished yet.
What happens when life suddenly becomes a story you never wanted to be part of?
A cancer diagnosis, a painful experience, or an unexpected season can change the way you see everything that comes next. Even after the immediate crisis has passed, your mind can keep returning to the fear, uncertainty, and worst-case scenarios you learned to anticipate.
In this episode, I'm joined by Harris III to talk about the stories we carry and how they shape the way we think, respond, and move through difficult seasons.
Harris shares how his unusual career as a professional illusionist eventually led him to study the stories we believe about ourselves. We explore how painful experiences can become deeply rooted narratives, why reclaiming agency doesn't mean denying what happened, and how developing a redemptive perspective can help us relate differently to the hardest parts of our story.
We also talk about the difference between worry and wonder. Harris explains why wonder isn't something we have to wait to experience and how intentionally creating moments of awe, curiosity, and possibility can help us imagine that our story may unfold differently than we fear.
Because you may not get to choose every chapter that enters your life. But that doesn't mean fear gets to write the rest of your story.
Ep. 138 – Stop Guessing About Your Health: What Functional Testing Can Reveal with Dr. Stephen Cabral
mardi 8 septembre 2026 • Durée 54:33
Stop Guessing. Start Looking Deeper.
Your symptoms are giving you information. But they may not be telling you the whole story.
When something feels off, it's easy to start guessing. Maybe it's your hormones. Maybe it's your gut. Maybe you need another supplement. But without understanding what's actually happening beneath the surface, it can be difficult to know where to begin.
In this episode, I sit down with one of my mentors, Dr. Stephen Cabral, to talk about functional lab testing and how it can help uncover patterns involving nutrients, minerals, gut health, stress, mitochondrial function, and environmental toxins.
We also walk through my son Kicker's actual Minerals & Metals Test results and discuss what they can reveal about mineral balance, stress patterns, and heavy metal exposure. Dr. Cabral explains why test results should be interpreted alongside symptoms and health history, how different functional tests can help connect the dots, and why certain tests may not make sense during active cancer treatment.
Most importantly, we talk about where to start without feeling like you need to test everything.
Because the goal isn't more testing for the sake of testing. It's gathering the right information so you can ask better questions and make more informed decisions about your health.

Ep. 137 – Preparing for & Healing After Surgeries & Scans
mardi 1 septembre 2026 • Durée 24:09
There's more you can do.
When your child needs a scan or surgery, most of your attention naturally goes toward the procedure itself. You're thinking about the results, what the doctors will find, and simply getting through it.
But what about supporting their body through the process?
In this episode, I'm sharing what you can consider before, during, and after scans and surgeries to help prepare the body and support recovery. We'll talk about the differences between CT scans and MRIs, contrast exposure, hydration and drainage support, and practical ways to think about recovery after imaging.
I'll also walk through foundational ways to prepare for and heal after surgery, while explaining why every protocol needs to be individualized.
And because the impact isn't only physical, we'll talk about scan anxiety, the stress of repeated surveillance, and questions you can bring to your medical team when considering your options.
This isn't about avoiding a scan or surgery that you or your child needs. It's about understanding how to support the body before, through, and after necessary medical care.

Ep. 136 – When Your Oncologist Pushes Back on Supplements: What You Need to Know
mardi 25 août 2026 • Durée 18:00
You're allowed to ask questions.
Hearing "no" from an oncology team about a supplement can leave you feeling confused, intimidated, or unsure of what questions to ask next.
In this episode, I break down some of the most common concerns I hear around supplements during cancer treatment, including homeopathic remedies, probiotics, organ meat supplements, and Quinton marine plasma minerals.
This isn't about choosing conventional medicine over integrative support or the other way around. It's about understanding the concerns, recognizing where nuance matters, and learning how both approaches can work alongside one another.
We'll look at why different supplements raise different safety questions, what responsible use can look like, and how having better information can help you advocate more confidently for your child.
Because asking questions isn't being difficult. It's part of making informed decisions about your child's care.

Ep. 135 – Sulforaphane and Cancer Support: What Most Supplements Get Wrong
mardi 18 août 2026 • Durée 54:52
Most supplements don't actually work.
There's a difference between taking something and your body actually being able to use it.
When it comes to sulforaphane, that difference matters. Bioavailability, stability, and formulation can all influence what the body actually receives from a supplement.
In this episode, I sit down with David Roberts, founder of Mara Labs, to explore the science behind sulforaphane and its potential role in cancer support, detoxification, inflammation, and cellular health.
David shares the personal story behind Mara Labs and how his wife's cancer journey led him to investigate sulforaphane more deeply. We also discuss active sulforaphane versus its precursors, the NRF2 pathway, gut health, environmental toxins, and why understanding supplement formulation matters.
Because it's not just about what you take. It's about whether your body can actually use it.
Mara Labs focuses on creating high-quality sulforaphane supplements designed to support detoxification, inflammation balance, and cellular health. Developed through a personal cancer journey, their approach emphasizes effectiveness and bioavailability.
Ep. 134 – My Morning Routine: What Actually Supports Energy and Healing
mardi 11 août 2026 • Durée 22:20
Your morning shapes your day.
What if the way you start your morning… is the reason you either feel grounded, energized, and clear—or reactive, depleted, and behind?
In this episode, I'm sharing what my morning routine actually looks like right now—and more importantly, what truly supports my energy and healing.
This routine didn't happen overnight. It was built over years, one habit at a time, as I learned what my body, my mind, and my family needed most—especially while supporting others through their healing journeys.
We'll walk through the exact structure of my mornings—from minerals and detox support to movement, sauna, and time in prayer—and how each piece helps me show up fully for my work, my family, and myself.
If your mornings feel rushed or disconnected, this episode will help you rethink what a supportive, sustainable routine can look like in your season of life.

Ep. 133 – The Untoxin Method for Caregivers: A 30-Day Reset for Energy and Healing
mardi 4 août 2026 • Durée 14:57
Caregiving takes more than anyone sees.
What if the exhaustion, brain fog, and burnout you've been feeling… isn't just in your head—but your body asking for support?
In this episode, I'm speaking directly to the caregiver—the one holding everything together behind the scenes.
Because when someone you love is diagnosed, the focus rightfully shifts to them. But almost no one talks about what happens to your body while you're surviving it all.
We talk about the physical impact of long-term stress, how caregiving affects your detox pathways, energy, and mental clarity—and why waiting until things "calm down" to take care of yourself often leads to deeper burnout.
I also share the story behind the Untoxin Method and why I created it specifically for caregivers who need real support, not another overwhelming protocol.
This episode is both validation and a path forward—because you deserve to feel supported, too.

Ep. 132 – The Emotion Code: The Missing Piece in Cancer Healing
mardi 28 juillet 2026 • Durée 30:19
Trapped emotions can block healing.
What if part of your child's healing isn't something you can track on labs… but something their body has been holding onto for years?
In this episode, I'm sharing one of the most powerful modalities I use with nearly every client—the Emotion Code—and how releasing trapped emotional energy can create real, physical shifts in the body.
You'll hear the story of a 17-year-old client whose healing didn't just show up in scans—but in his energy, behavior, and willingness to engage in life again.
We talk about how trauma, stress, and even inherited emotional patterns can live in the body—and why addressing them may be one of the most overlooked pieces of the healing process.
This is not about replacing medical care. It's about expanding the way we understand healing.
Because sometimes, the missing piece isn't another supplement… It's something your body has been waiting to release.
Ep. 131 – The Air You're Breathing Is More Toxic Than You Think
mardi 21 juillet 2026 • Durée 37:33
Clean air is not optional.
What if the space you're relying on to heal… is quietly adding to your toxic burden every single day?
In this episode, I sit down with Justin from Jasper Air to talk about one of the three foundational pieces I focus on with every cancer family: air.
We break down why indoor air is often more polluted than outdoor air, what's actually in wildfire smoke, and how modern homes are unintentionally trapping toxins inside. We also talk about mold, VOCs, and the difference between standard air purifiers and true air scrubbers.
This conversation is about more than just comfort—it's about creating a healing environment where your body isn't constantly fighting what it breathes.
If you're walking through treatment or navigating life after cancer, this episode will shift how you think about your home.
